If you're looking for a basic, low-cost driving range, Coronado is a great choice. We went on a Monday evening during their happy hour, so a bucket of 120 balls was just $10.50. There was no charge to borrow a couple of clubs from the pro shop, and the lady at the counter was patient while we looked through our options. We didn't buy any drinks, but they sell alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for reasonable prices, especially during happy hour. The driving range is pretty basic, but it gets the job done. People of all ages and skill levels hang out and the vibe is pretty mellow. There may be nicer driving ranges in town, but Coronado is inexpensive, centrally located and a chill place to practice your swing. read more

It's hard to beat the feel of swinging the golf club with ease and hitting the ball on the sweet spot to watch it sail far and straight towards the hole...I wish I had more of those moments, but I'll take it when they come. Coronado Golf Course is the perfect course to come hit on the range (cash only) or get in a quick 9 holes to perfect your game. The course is 9 holes but has the feel of a larger course. It is well kept and one of those places that you just want to spend time at. The price of the range as well as the course cannot be beat; you won't break the bank and you get a wonderful course for your money. This place still has that old time feel that golf clubs of old once had and it's obvious when you see patrons hanging out before and after their tee times to shoot the breeze and enjoy life. One of the last cheap golf courses in the area. $22 to play a round. Now you do get what you pay for in terms of greens upkeep, so just bear that in mind. They have a short flat city course, 18 holes. They only accept cash, at least they have a driving range. Some courses that are $200+ dont have one. Great place to play 2x a week to keep the form up. "Driving range" is dirt mounds and dust. Don't waste your time unless you like practicing hitting shots with wildly uneven stances, ball below or above your feet and off dirt / mud. Literally 0 grass in most of the bays. Pay $10 extra and go to Papago or somewhere that has actual grass... you know like an actual course that you might play on would. Didn't even finish half my bucket because of the conditions. Not only is it dirt, you can't find a place to stand without being in massive divots , completely off balance and the ball being 6 inches above your feet. read more

For those who are just picking up the game, or not talented enough to have a very good game. This course is perfect for you. You will really not see a lot of good golfers at a place like this. They would usually pay a premium fee to golf somewhere else. The Coronado is links style course, with a few bunkers and a couple of water hazards. What makes a 9-hole so great! You have a oppertunity to work on your short game. Course is really not in that great of shape. They are cash only, hard to get around since they have no signage. This is one of if not the worst course's shape in AZ, Possibly America. And You still can't come here if you're looking to play cheap golf. I was under the impression it was 24$ to walk 9 holes around twice for 18 for your round and have been playing here a couple times a week over the last couple weeks for a quick round after work for some practice doing that with no problem. Today after crossing 9 and starting hole 1 again one of the clubhouse guy came out very rudely and said I had to pay another 14$ to play another 9. After walking off the tee and heading back to my car the same club house guy came out and extremely rudely and aggressively saying it's just a 9 hole course and again saying it's 14$ more dollars to play 18. 38$ to play on dirt holes/dead grass and weed fairways besides 1 and 9? I told him why would I play such a terrible condition course for that when I could play for 40$ at continental for the same price with actual nice grass he told me "Well then don't come here and go play there" I will then. You would've seen a thousand dollars out of me this year for shitter par 3 games and practice balls but I will make sure to tell everyone I meet to never come here and will never be returning. Do not waste your time coming here to even practice. Continental is half a mile away is 40$ for an evening tee and has a putting and chipping green that is 100x better. management has charged in the last couple years there and the course is in great condition. Please never spend any money here they deserve to go out of business so someone with a brain will buy it and put the love this course deserves. read more

Attendants were extremely rude to my family when we tried to pay for a round of golf. They had 10 carts available and would not rent us two for the round when the rest of my party would be walkers. They raised their voices at us, argued, and were annoyed that we wanted to have our children (ages 10 and 7) walk along with us even though another employee confirmed on the phone that it was ok for a small fee. We decided to leave the course to find somewhere that was more family friendly. If you are visiting from out of town, find somewhere else. read more

The place is great to hit some balls and get some practice in whether it be on the golf course or on the driving range. It's only 9 holes so it's perfect for a few hours during the summer months before it's gets really hot. The grass is fairly worn down and pretty under maintenanced. When CrackerJax closed their doors in July of 2022, I went looking for alternatives to hit balls on a driving range at night. Coronado's driving range is open till 9:00 p.m. Coronado sells their last bucket of balls at 8:00 p.m. and they are CASH ONLY. Note: This review is only for the driving range at Coronado. The range itself is very big, meaning there probably is space for 50 people to hit side by side. There are markers for 100, 150, 200 yards. Lights come from behind you when you hit and you can see clearly to at least 150 yards. The prices are extremely affordable and there's a happy hour price from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. daily that includes balls as well as drinks for a discount. This place is an easy place to spend in a couple hours without breaking the bank. read more

I've been coming here for 10 years to use the driving range and to warm up on the nine hole course. Unfortunately, they appear to have abandoned the nine hole course. The sand traps are full of weeds and the fairways other than first and ninth are just dirt. When I asked the staff about it, they said because it was in the floodplain they couldn't keep it up. But several courses on the Greenbelt and Scottsdale have the same situation and they managed to keep their fairways green. Too bad. I won't be coming back except for the driving range read more

Cash only inside and the dude working there was more than snarky about letting me know. Most of the public courses in this area have made great strides in recent years. In a city of expensive and expansive golf courses... here is Coronado. A nice, inexpensive short course with an as-nice LIGHTED practice facility. Apparently a rare thing for the Valley. Also- cash only! Sometimes hard to remember that, but I believe they have an ATM machine. On occasion they may throw in a cart for your round. I've not heard of them enforcing a 90-degree only rule on the course. They try to take pretty good care of it but it would be nice if some type of winter grass would be used during peak-season instead of letting the grass die. It makes the short game even shorter slash more difficult. The greens are fun with a variety of breaks. The practice range is very well taken care of! read more

I liked that I didn't have to worry if we weren't hitting perfectly. I was able to show him some things and the cart was in great condition. The guy at the front desk was super nice and welcoming. Inexpensive greens fees, $15 for 9 holes, walking but the 50% markup for the cart is lame, especially since you're going to be stuck waiting anyway since most people walk. This is $a 15.00 practice round, great if you are beginner at golf and looking to work your swing out on a hole. The fairways are mostly dirt, putting on these greens is like playing planko, terrible condition, and this was April during prime season, so if you head out in summer expect more dust. read more

While I quarantine with my two small boys, we get to see Some old guy who works here driving around shouting at people who he claims are trespassing on the golf course. He threatens them that he will call the police. A truly awful and abusive outburst by a dude who is certainly old enough to know better. Negative 5 stars. Was told that I would not have to pay for a seven year old to ride in the cart. But when you get there it's a rider fee. So that was inconsistent with information I was given when I made the tee time. When I asked why - I was lectured in a loud tone about how they are running a business. Thanks! When I look at the carts (dirty and run down) and the trash shoved in the outside fire pit I should have left. My group of lads kindly requested 3 buckets, and the guy behind the counter stopped selling at 8:00 on the dot on July 7th 2021. We offered to return everything by 9 and he still refused. Furthermore, was very rude with his passive aggressive behavior. Terrible service, wont be coming back... Management needs to be aware of this distasteful service. Talk about BRUTAL customer service. Called the pro shop to ask a question about the range they have. The guy in the pro shop was 12/10 on the D-Bag scale. Practically yelled at me through my phone and blew out my speaker. So now I need a new phone. On top of that, I hope the guy who answered my call reads this and starts to get on the right track. The grass here is always torn to shreds and they are cash only. When the guy told me the prices were 11.00 to walk and 15.00 for a cart, I showed up with only 20 bucks cash. Little did i know that when he said cart he meant pullcart, not golf cart. Golf cart round is 22.00. I told told him hey, u said it was 15.00 and confused me by not being specific. He did not float me the 2.00, and i was not going to walk in 100 degree weather. So I left, annoyed that he did not let it slide for the 1 customer that he had that day. Cash only driving range with grass/dirt hitting areas. You really have some tight lies when hitting on the "grass" that is enormously thin this time of year. But the place was nice sized and had several options for chipping and putting. If you like traditional and rustic styled Tin Cup type driving ranges, this fits the bill. But don't get me wrong -- for 10 bucks you get about 70-80 balls. Not bad. I'll use this as a warm-up and/or practice area moving forward. Not the nicest...but probably the friendliest. read more

I must say that I am a fan of this place. I haven't actually played the course yet sadly, just done the range. Dive bar golf course is a pretty accurate description from what I've seen so far and I DIG it. Any place that has metal buckets of beer in the pro shop is good in my books. I must say when I pulled up I felt outclassed (there were some fancy-ass cars in the lot) with my one lonely 1 wood, a bag of discount tees, and in some scruffy jeans. The mix of people really did surprise me though when i got out on the range. The guy in front of me was all kitted-up, matching shoes, hat, bag, the whole nine yards. And he was swinging like a champ, and I hated him for it. Then a lady takes the slot behind mine and she is wearing overalls, a sports bra and has a beer in a koozy. This made me feel a little bit better until she started driving like Tiger. Point being, no matter how much you suck at golf (like me) this is a good place to go. So, I KNOW a quality golf course when I see one and if you're looking for a snotty country club feeling (Princess, Phoenician, Biltmore, Talking Stick etc), this is NOT your place. The course itself leaves a lot to be desired. That said, for a 9 hole executive course that you can play quickly for less than $20, there's nothing "wrong" with Coronado. The practice facility is actually great. Putting green, chipping green and a driving range with lights that is open until 9pm...its legit for a great practice session after the sun goes down for those who don't want to feel like they're golfing on the surface of the sun. The staff is friendly, the facility is usually in pretty good shape and it's a low cost option...win win win. Only real negative: they only accept cash. read more

I am biased as I live close by and was part of the movement a few years back to save this course from the City and Giants, but SO glad we prevailed! This community gem in the rough is an asset to the area - thanks to Mr Henry Gailbraith who first deeded this land to the City and then fought to protect the destruction of this course. I see grand parents with one and two generations down WALKING around this course - just hacking away and having a great time. Their staff is really rude, it was the old heavy man that wont let me loan a hat to wear when it was our tee time up because I didnt have Cash on me & I asked if I can pay him when I'm done with my round(would have time to run to the ATM Afterward) He told me that's too bad sorry. The two-star review is simply because of the driving range. Other than that, this place is pretty crummy and broken down. The "pro shop" has merchandise sitting out that literally has dust piling on top of it and the course itself...well, you can read other reviews about how crappy of a condition it is in all the time. No clear cart paths, terribly maintained fairways, greens, and tee boxes yada, yada, yada. Now, if you want a place to cheaply work on your game then Coronado will do the trick. The best part about the range is that it stays open until 9pm while the lights are on. They also have a putting green and chipping green for your short game. Not too shabby. Lastly, they promote happy hour with cheap prices on drinks and baskets of balls. Come for the driving range, don't come for anything else. Coronado is probably the crummiest golf course in a 100 mile radius. That being said, it's not all bad. I frequent the place to cheaply work on my game. Here comes the pros & cons...fore! The driving range is open until 9:00pm. Other than CrackerJax (which is 15 miles up the road) I don't know of any range that is open past sunset. Long day at work? Need to work on your game? Coronado is ready and waiting to help. Chipping green and putting green are separate. Being able to work on all facets of your game past sundown is a big reason I visit. I don't visit for the course itself. Cart paths don't exist and sometimes you feel yourself Dukes of Hazzard-info around the links. Fairways on the par 4's don't exist either. Somewhat decent course to get your iron work in off the tee, but that's pretty much it. Greens are more weathered than a Tucson bum. Not the best place to golf but thankfully they know it. They don't charge you too much to play in the desert of Coronado. read more
