We chose the venue because we wanted a modern romantic wedding with a bit of an industrial vibe. The gallery was beyond perfect and everything we wanted. Thank you so much Stephanie and Terra team! We rented out both the Terra (upstairs) and Mer (downstairs) Floors. Both floors had a bar. The Mer floor also came with the outdoor patio area. Both floors also had entrances/exits and restrooms. We had our ceremony upstairs. The wedding party's private room was equipped with seating and complementary champagne and beer. We so appreciate it Stephanie! Our wedding party was able to use the piano Terra provided to lead the worship song. The security officers were both kind and extremely organized. During cocktail hour, the party was moved to the Mer floor. The gallery provided bar stools and tables for our guests! So sweet! Wine was served and an open bar downstairs to go with the hors d'oeuvres! The bartenders were all so kind and sweet to our guests. They even provided me hand sanitizer. The lighting was perfect and our photographer was able to get so many amazing photos. Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the venue was and how they've never been to such a stunning wedding. While our guests enjoyed cocktail hour and mingling, upstairs was flipped to accommodate our reception. Terra provided all the round tables for us. I had my other vendors provide the long tables. Altogether there were 150 guests and 18 tables! Our family and friends had the most amazing time throughout the wedding day. Tips: - Highly highly recommend renting a parking garage for your guests - Rent the meters in front and around the venue for your vendors - Keep the artwork up because it adds so much elegance to your wedding! - Use white light indoors Stephanie made our wedding planning process so easy. She recommended vendors to us and she was a gem throughout the process. Although I didn't get to meet her personally my husband and wedding planner had so many good things to say. We will forever be grateful for Stephanie and the Terra team!

This venue felt a little smaller, but they made good use of the space. The front area was used for the beginning, where you just mingle. They set up displays with bottles I could only dream of having, plus a photo area, informational sections, etc. Once the tasting started, we were brought into another room with a small stage and a bunch of tables. We sat stage left in the back, so the view wasn't great. I felt it made the room feel a lot smaller than it actually is. I use to go to tastings at Fort Mason all the time, so I can't help but compare this venue to that one. Overall, it had a nice dark, kind of intimate feel. And who doesn't love free liquor!

I'm giving the lodge a four star for my dining experience and an enjoyable evening. My husband has been here more than a few times to play games of pool with our friendly neighbor and one of his friends. I have been here before for another event almost three years ago. The interior is beautiful, but the walls are thin. One can actually hear people talking in the next room. Our meeting place was the Mahogany Room for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. I did not want to stuff myself with the appetizers and not have enough room in my stomach for the main entree - crab. Nor did I want any libation before the meal. After the cocktail hour, we were escorted to the Rathskeller (basement of the lodge) where the dinner was held. The gentlemen on the waitstaff were lined up in an orderly manner, serving us whatever we desired - be it the bowtie/penne pasta, dinner rolls/garlic bread, coffee, dessert. Presentation of the crab, the wines (red and white), Caesar salad and the antipasti plates was excellent...casual, yet classy. Dessert was a serving of raspberry sorbet. The only minor drawback was the bowtie/penne pasta served on the same plate as the salad plate. Even though I did not win any of the door prizes after making a donation of $20 for 20 raffle tickets, they had some nice ones, such as the $100 gift card from Scott's Seafood, $100 gift card for Yoshi's dinner and show, $50 gift cards from La Penca Azul, C'era Una Volta, 1400 Bar and Grill, Jim's Coffee Shop, Pier 29. From what I heard, the lodge raised about $1,500 in raffle ticket sales. I also have to give kudos to the waitstaff, many of whom were very tolerable and patient with this woman who sat at the next table behind my husband. She was in the wine (whine) mode. "I want penne pasta. I don't want this dinner roll with butter. I want some garlic bread. Don't you guys have any garlic bread?" On and on she went...egads...she had a sense of entitlement. Yes, there were two bottles of wine at each table, but her incessant whining almost had me do a "face palm" on her. Ooh, I wanted to offer her a piece of cheese, which would have complemented a glass of wine very well. (Now, quit your whining, lady...lol.)

I will say though that the good folks who volunteer at the San Francisco Scottish Rite facility tried their best to recruit me at this "late" age. I'm not sure about that, but I will say that the culture here felt very comfortable. Anyway, this building is fabulous and with a good supply of parking spots underneath. The neighborhood is a little busy, which makes the peaceful interior of this cool retro facility all the more enjoyable. The class was also well worth the drive and maybe a repeat visit using a BART/Muni combination to West Portal.

Some side-notes: - the facility itself is pretty "dated" but how could I "not" appreciate a place which still labels things with "ladies lounge" and "powder room" !? - underground parking, but for our full-house performances, it was a bit tricky for some guests who had to park on adjacent streets; - they have some shower stalls in the uni-sex bathrooms in one dressing room area (don't tell anyone, but I think the Grand Poo bah Fred Flintstone and his counterpart Barney Rubble spend some weekends here). 760 seats - visit their website for more information.

Inside are like rooms with art and live artist ms scattered around doing demonstrations. There is the main room with the bar. In the bigger room with the bar it was hard to walk and maneuver around as it got crowded and it's mostly standing room. But lovely art on the skateboards which I was surprised. I guess art can be on any medium. If I come across another art event, I wouldn't mind coming back. It was an easy mini underground train ride to Montgomery station and just walk down few blocks. This place is quiet after hours.
