First time here. My friend and I arrived around 4:30 p.m. on a Monday. We wanted to try the happy hour and this location for the first time. When we arrived the restaurant was empty and she wasn't able to find our reservation. But luckily we were able to be seated immediately. I really liked the ambience, the seating was comfortable, the lighting was perfect. The service could have been better but it got the job done. We started with the oysters and I really enjoyed the sauces that came with them. They were fresh and delicious. We also had the happy hour french fries which were also very good. Then let's go to the fried chicken sliders, I couldn't even begin to eat them. It looked like they used chicken thighs and they just were not good at all. You've been warned. Now the happy hour Margarita Pizza was the star of the show. It was really good. I would definitely go back to try the regular menu items. read more

When I entered, the hostess said they didn't have any tables free at the time and they only had bar table seating or where they had the couch that's in front of the window with tables in front of it. It wasn't uncomfortable. It was just low and not very balanced with the table in front of it for eating. However, I noticed right on the side of me was a small table for two right next to a window that was empty the entire time I was there soooo...? Anyway I ordered oysters on the half shell as an appetizer. I had to ask for hot sauce and crackers. It took so long for him to come back with crackers so I just ate the oysters without them and had finished them by the time he returned. I ordered the pork chop meal. Great presentation the chop was a nice size and flavorful and the sauce was maybe like a plum sauce reduction maybe and was decent. The mashed potatoes and spinach were all right, nothing special. I didn't finish them though because they were bland and I didn't want to waste time flagging my server down for salt and pepper and waiting for them to return. Last night, my friend and I came here around 7:30 PM. We had a fabulous dinner. We came here to celebrate my 40th birthday. The vibe inside is very trendy , loud music , kinda club feel. From the outside this is not technically the place that I would've chosen, but I'm glad we came because the food was outstanding so we're the drinks. And the staff were extremely friendly, didn't rush us. The waiter gave great recommendations for the food. I had the mushroom risotto with added chicken. As well as the Ube colada drink. Everything was well seasoned, very flavorful. You could definitely taste the alcohol in the drink. I felt like prices were extremely affordable. They refilled our water multiple times and were helpful towards us. It is directly across from a hotel so that's convenient and down the street from the parking garage. We enjoyed The Harlequin so much that we visited the establishment twice during our 6- day work trip. We loved the happy hour vibes. During our HH which turned into dinner visit. We tried and loved the oysters, the buffalo chicken sandwich, the espresso martinis (which are on tap), the Tequila selection, the Old Fashioned, and the HH chicken sliders. During dinner we tried and loved the Margarita pizza, truffle Parmesan fries, the Wedge salad, and a steak and noodle dish. We did not like and would not recommend the Smash Burger. Let me start with my party and I arrived early for our reservations and was carded walking in. I checked in with the hostess and she said our table wasn't ready but we were checked in. While waiting I noticed that the security guy at the door who was "carding" people wasn't carding everyone. Granted my party's age is 35+ so was annoyed that we got carded while others weren't. When our reservation time came, nothing from the hostess. While she sat other parties, I finally had to go back up and ask when our table was ready and of course it was. The place looked like the pictures however the pictures make this place look a lot nicer than what it actually is. And most of it looks better at the bar area than the actual seating area. The waiter did not come check on us once, I even made eye contact with them to get their attention but was unsuccessful. It took about 30 mins to get our check and it was the bartender who finally came to check on us. The Harlequin has that polished mid-century vibe without feeling stuffy, and the happy hour is absolutely worth a detour. Overall the food & drinks are pretty good and atmosphere is nice. But holy wow the service is SLOW. They perhaps are short staffed? While I admit we had a group of 8 with us; I saw other tables have similar issues. 20-30 minutes for drinks to come out or simply forgotten. No stopping by to check in...we constantly had to flag someone down. Pros: Deviled Eggs, Truffle Risotto, Burrata Cheese...all quite delicious and plenty of flavor. Upon entering we realized we have been here before multiple times back in the day when we were always in SF. Nice place. My partner had a couple of Lemon Drops and I had a tequila and glass of red wine. Too bad the kitchen was closed since a midnight snack would have been good. More drinking establishments need to have some kind of food or packaged snacks to go along with drinks. If there was some snacks we would have stayed longer.
