Pretty good beef birria specialty place. They had the sampler on sale the day I went - plenty of food with consomme and a taco and what not. Friendly service, strictly a take out window. Recommended if you have a hankering for this.

Avoid this place. The vendor was rude and charged me $24 for 2 tacos and 2 horchatas. The tacos weren't even good. I should have refused to pay.

Quesabirria Special was $8.50 Mulita (not pictured was $2.50 & also delicious.

Read about this spot on way over. Absolutely delicious food & friendly staff. Daily specials board + all the items you'd expect. Bursting with flavor.

Birrieria San Marcos offers authentic and delicious Mexican food with giant servings at reasonable prices. Located near the corner of Oxnard and Hazeltine in Van Nuys, they have it all: tacos, burritos, caldo, tortas, quesa, ramen, plates....you name it. Their meats are tender, well seasoned, and incredibly yummy. You'll get your money's worth for sure -- portions are very generous! I need to go back and try their San Marcos birria loaded fries.

I'm seriously considering writing a thank you card to my friend for introducing me to this place. Located in Van Nuys with a small parking lot in the back + street parking in the back, this birrieria spot is so so so delicious and a perfect example of the Mexican food I'll be missing once I head back to the East Coast. This place is a standing to-go order spot with a fairly large menu that also offers deals every day of the week! The deals alternate on different days so it's worth checking out which day aligns with what you would want to order and come get the special on that day. They offer fresh free salsa to top your orders as well as radishes, onions, and limes. I think they sometimes have a food truck here as well. Birria burrito 4.5/5, ok this is absolutely delicious, my only thing holding me back that 0.5 star is that the burrito wasn't spicy! I added their green salsa on top and this immediately became 5/5 so if you are ok w less spice, this could totally work for you. Birria tacos 5/5, ohmygod this was IT!! I got the buy 1 get 1 taco tuesday deal and brought one home to my mom, this was beautifully spicy and when topped with additional spicy salsa WHEW this hit the spot!! Birria torta 5/5, my friend got this, its her usual order here, she notes it is greasy but she loves it and does not mind the grease

Great service as always. I love that they offer specials but you need to mention it when ordering. I went in for a taco Tuesday had some birria tacos. I love the condiments they provide for the tacos. It's a cute little stand but as always amazing service.

If you're coming to Birrieria San Marcos, you already know what you're signing up for--greasy, cheesy, crunchy, indulgent birria tacos that hit the spot every single time. And let's be real, that's the only way to have them. We got our order to go, and even after the drive home, everything was still warm and crispy, just the way it should be. The tacos were packed with tender, flavorful birria, fried to golden perfection, and oozing with melty cheese. But the real MVP? The consomé. Do not skip it! Dunking those tacos into the rich, savory broth takes the whole experience to another level. We also tried the carne asada burrito, and wow--perfectly seasoned meat, fresh toppings, and just the right amount of heft to be satisfying but not overwhelming. Service was quick, the food was fire, and if you're craving something indulgent, this place absolutely delivers. Will we be back? Without a doubt.

I've been coming here since they were a single food truck that went viral in the city of Van nuys and constantly had a 1o 3 hour line outside. Luckily that's no longer the case and you can get your food what's a minimum wait time. Everything I've tried here has been excellent. From the queso tacos to the mulita's to the vampiros to the burritos and now the ramen. And FYI everything is about $1 cheaper if you call them directly or order in person versus ordering through Yelp. However there is a 4% credit card use charge.

Stopped by right when they opened for a couple tacos. Pretty good but nothing too crazy. I think in general I prefer a street taco over Birrieria tacos but these were good! This is more of a get and go place rather than an eat at the restaurant place, but do have a table outside. Service was good.

    Valentine's day mini cakes :)

My husband and I love this place! The staff are all incredibly kind and super welcoming. We decided to stop by today and they had cute specials for valentine's day with heart shaped items! As we were leaving, a nice gentleman who works there offered us some mini valentine's day cakes which were so cute and fun! Best place everrr

Was craving some birria tacos, and was craving a burrito. I been to this location years ago, and they also have a food truck down in mission hills. Today I ordered two queso tacos, a birria burrito and a agua Fresca pineapple juice. The food was absolutely delicious, so Much great flavors going on and paired with their salsa *chefs kiss*. However, the agua Fresca was not my favorite and i definitely had better ones from other restaurants. This seems like a To go only style restaurant, they have one table outside that can accommodate 4-6 people. Other than that, I think this is a fabulous restaurant if you're craving some birria tacos. They also do a taco Tuesday deal

Birrieria San Marcos is a walk up window taco place on Hazeltine near Oxnard. I ordered the special of the day which was three tacos and a large cup of consommé. It came with two small salsas, Two lemon wedges, four slices of radish and a very small baggie of onions and cilantro. The meat was really tender, but the tacos were so greasy/oily that they were not very appetizing.

Are u guys in postmates or Uber eats?

    No, not yet.

What's the difference between a regular consome and birria en caldo? Is it just the portion of birria, or is there a flavor difference?

The broth is very similar if not the same in both, BUT the consomé is smaller and only has a few pieces of meat, because it's best as a dip or sauce for the tacos. The birria en caldo is a big portion of birria meat in the broth served with…

I've been trying to try this one because I saw the hype on social media (maybe I was expecting them to live.up to that hype) Tacos - 2 stars: there was flavor in the asada and al pastor but the tortillas were small and kinda of hard. They may have left them on the grill too long. Im used to the nice soft delicious tortillas. Guacamole was ok Prices - 2 stars: spent $41 for 8 tacos and 2 senorials. They are over priced and portions are very small. I could have gotten more for my buck somewhere else for example: tacos el venado on sepulveda. They are really good. Angels tacos on sherman way (they have home made tortillas and their tacos are twice as big Over all, disappointing. Would I come back again? Not even if I was starving. But try then for yourself, you may have a different opinion. I have certainly have had better.

I recently tried out El Cocinero's food at an event that they catered to. As a person who eats meat and is not restricted, I would come here for the good food. The vegan al pastor had chunks of pineapple and it is seasoned and cooked to taste just like the meat version. The texture is just a little bit different but it does resemble a lot like meat. The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. However, I was lucky enough to bring home leftovers and as I was eating it, the food tastes better. Had to add the extra star!
