This used to be one of the best Taco Trucks in Van Nuys. The tacos and burritos were loaded with meat. Sadly, with the new found popularity, Leo's has taken a step back . They raised the prices from $10 to $13 for a burrito, and they noticeably got skimpy with their portions. For the money you're going to spend here, you are much better served at an actual restaurant. Leo's workers are friendly and others rave about the Pastor, so maybe if you try this truck that's what you should order. Leo's is now located on Victory and Woodley. They have a nice clean setup with tables and chairs. The salsas are good.

Asada Fries $14

Overall: CASH ONLY, classic street tacos, cheap and delicious ---- The food was great and cheap, my only complaint is that I wish there were prices listed. The tacos do NOT come with any toppings, only the tortillas and meat so be sure to go to the salsa bar to grab them! ---- Carne Asada Fries $14: - Fries topped with carne asada (steak) and melted cheese with a white sauce drizzled on top Lengua Tacos $2.30: - Tongue on corn tortilla Carne Asada Tacos $2: - Steak on corn tortilla ---- Other Notes: - Salsa bar has little containers for sauces and bags, all self-service - 4 different salsas, pickled onions/carrots, pico de gallo, onions and cilantro, sliced radishes, cucumber, and limes - Drinks are also available for purchase - Parking behind the truck - Ambiance is very casual, no-frills, it's located right by the street so it can get a little noisy - Outdoor seating only ---- Overall: Quick service, really cheap food, but great quality; if you see this truck be sure to try out their stuff

"Carnitas" taco - no bueno
Vee P.

I was surprised to see a Leo's at this corner so we stopped to check it out about a month ago. It was completely empty and we ordered everything we would order from the north hills location - a bunch of tacos and burritos to support them. The tacos meats were just ok though, as if 90% of it was left over and reheated until dried out. Do yourself a favor and do not order the "carnitas" - this was so bad! The ratio of the burrito was off too, a lot of filler but the rice was so dry too. The cabeza was still delicious and the saving grace of this meal. Perhaps they are just getting their footing but it was not consistent with Leo's quality especially for the price they charge. They didn't have any salsas either - what?! The service was friendly and the truck was fancy but I don't care about that, I care about the food. *Now when I drive by the area, it seems busier and now they have condiments and a trompo outside so maybe their quality has improved due to more turnover?

Famous al pastor tacos with pineapple on the spit

One of the best and most famous taco trucks in Los Angeles has opened near Lake Balboa Park on the corner of Woodley and Victory. Some of the Leo's Taco Trucks in Los Angeles are good and some are not so good depending if they have an al pastor spit or not. The serving of all pastor tacos is generous and one of the best-bang-for-your-buck places to eat in the Valley. The service is friendly and efficient at this location. I like this Leo's Taco Truck better than the one parked in North Hills.

I don't like to give bad reviews but this were the Worse vampiro I've tried, they have more lettuce than meat, they didn't taste any good, the gordita was terrible, the meat didn't have any flavor, I'm so disappointed.

Asada fries but with chicken. Super good and better than their hollywood location.

To be honest this spot came through so many times after a night of too many drinks and needing something to come back to life. Their tacos de burrito are so good and the tortilla is kind of fried, sirven bien doraditos los tacos, so they don't fall apart when you dip them in the consomé (broth). What I used to do was get a few tacos and a larger order of consomé and then use that broth to make ramen with and omg, so good! lol it was the gift that kept on giving. Can't wait to go back. They usually have tables as well so you're able to enjoy your meal while it's hot and go on your way.

The food is delicious and very authentic Tijuana-style street tacos done right. I've tried several items from the menu including the torta, quesadillas, tacos, dorados de birria, and carne asada, and everything has been flavorful and satisfying. The birria tacos are definitely a standout. Service is always great and fast, which makes it an easy stop when you're craving good street food. If you're in the area and want authentic Mexican tacos, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

In the best way! We begin taking bites and are both amazed. Me a little bit more. I really really enjoyed this burrito. Maybe because it has rice instead of potatoes, I'm not sure, but it was delicious. My wife also really enjoyed hers; she gave it a 7.5 out of 10. I give my burrito a 9/10. Our chilaquiles were a whole other story and flavor profile. The carne asada that came with it was life changing. Whatever seasoning they used on tha carne asada is perfect. My wife was deeply impressed. The sauce, the chips, the eggs, beans and rice were all very very good as well. All complimented each other very well. In my head I'm like "how do you not have it on the meñu but yet sell it ?" I didn't make it a big deal but for some reason she seemed annoyed. I also asked one of the other servers if they can bring a lemonade for my daughter, she had said yes she can do that. But.. We got our food 35 mins later (keep in mind it was one plate) we were waiting on. & we still hadn't gotten our lemonade I had asked for. The cook brought us our plate & he was nice and asked if we needed anything else. I said " I asked one of the servers for a lemonade and it still hasn't been brought." & he mentioned he would let them know. Then the server comes back with an attitude and places it on the table, not even a word said. I even thanked her multiple times and nothing was said, no "you're welcome" or anything. She never even checked up on us or asked if we needed anything else. If you can't handle being a server why even work as one? Simple as that. This is what ruins a restaurant's reputation and makes people not want to go back. No tip was deserved.

I've been trying to try this one because I saw the hype on social media (maybe I was expecting them to live.up to that hype) Tacos - 2 stars: there was flavor in the asada and al pastor but the tortillas were small and kinda of hard. They may have left them on the grill too long. Im used to the nice soft delicious tortillas. Guacamole was ok Prices - 2 stars: spent $41 for 8 tacos and 2 senorials. They are over priced and portions are very small. I could have gotten more for my buck somewhere else for example: tacos el venado on sepulveda. They are really good. Angels tacos on sherman way (they have home made tortillas and their tacos are twice as big Over all, disappointing. Would I come back again? Not even if I was starving. But try then for yourself, you may have a different opinion. I have certainly have had better.

In a city where Mexican food is probably the primary dining option; one might think that it is all…read morethe same: that a taco here is the same as a taco there. This line of thinking is completely false as each region and state in Mexico has distinct flavors, cultural preparations and unique ingredients. Luckily in the City of Angels; we have access to all of these styles whereas everyone can pick and choose their favorite! I was in the North Hills/Mission Hills area and decided Mexican was going to be the meal of the day - and thanks to the trusty Yelp app: Tacos al Tijuanense was the winner to satisfy my hunger pang. If you are a longtime LA resident or born-and-raised within the city limits and can swear to Tacos al Tijuanense sounding familiar/remembering that it was a food truck... Then your memory doesn't deceive you. Tacos al Tijuanense birthed as a food truck in 1987 quickly gaining popularity for its smoked meats and Tijuana-inspired flavors serving tacos, vampiros, quesadillas, birria tacos, etc; loaded with fresh toppings and offering a variety of meats for the protein selection. The LA love for Tacos al Tijuanense caused such popularity that the food truck expanded into brick-and-mortar locations with several now spread throughout the city. The North Hills location of Tacos al Tijuanense holds real estate near the Woodly/Nordhoff intersection in a small strip plaza shopping center that seems half sleepy and half eyebrow-raising. But, as most of us know, the hidden gems are usual the best spots so don't be deterred by such businesses like the sketchy massage parlor next door. In fact, diners will be pleasantly surprised when crossing the threshold of the entrance to find an airy interior with high ceilings, natural light, wooden accents and the combination of a trendy- almost gastropub sticking to the food truck theme (there is even a food truck motif behind the order counter) that feels like a party. Tacos al Tijuanense is not what you would expect from the outside! Tacos al Tijuanense is fast-casual meaning you order behind the counter and take a number to the table of your choice. After browsing the menu, my boyfriend chose a Quesadilla (13" tortilla filled with protein of your choice, jack cheese, cilantro and salsa with my boyfriend picking chicken - $13) and a Vampiro (toasted corn tortilla layered with jack cheese, choice of meat, onions, cilantro and salsa with al pastor - $3). For my order, I also went with a Vampiro but with chicken while also ordering Nachos to share with carne asada. When our plates arrived, we were surprised to see the size of the portions. Everything at Tacos al Tijuanense is large and in charge and they most certainly do not skimp! The fillings are overflowing with bright, fresh ingredients, toppings are numerous and the size overall makes everything shareable. My Vampiro was crisp with delicious guacamole that added a refreshing element and tender, tasty chicken. My favorite was my boyfriend's Quesadilla which was gooey, warm and perfect. You can't go wrong with a quesadilla! But we have to talk about the nachos because these nachos are HUGE! This is party size and could generously feed three people. The carne asada was heavenly and the chips tasted homemade. The only slightly "meh" factor was that the cheese atop the nachos was canned cheese and we would have preferred melted shredded cheese. This wouldn't have been such an issue had the canned cheese been in a rational amount but it seemed like a Costco-sized can poured onto these chips! These nachos were hidden under cheese glop! Regardless, they were still delicious. Tacos al Tijuanense holds true to its almost 40-year-old fame with affordable prices, delicious food, large portions giving you a bang for your buck and a surprisingly inviting ambiance. Tacos al Tijuanense is definitely recommended and the North Hills location is much recommended despite its odd plaza placement.
