I went for a smog check this morning, and I was surprised by an estimate higher than I expected based on what I read in the other reviews. On their website, it says, "We do not charge any extra fees for 1995 model vehicles and older," which suggested to me that the price is the same regardless of the year of your car. However, they do in fact charge $10 more to test older cars. I understand the reason they charge more, but I just wish it was a bit clearer on the website. In the shop, I didn't see any indication on the price list that tests for older cars cost more either. If you don't have an older car, this place is fine. They're fast and efficient, and the price with the coupon is competitive, though they charge $1.50 extra for paying with a credit or debit card. read more

I think it's BS that Yelp keeps removing my review for this place. I brought my car here to get smogged a few years ago because it was $10 less than other places. Guys that worked here were really friendly, but the smog tech broke the left side of my drivers seat by landing (falling) full force into the side of the seat (like falling onto a couch). My car is lowered and has sports seats, so the sides of the seat are raised and designed to hug your body. Didn't notice the damage until I went to the gas station after getting smogged. Talked to the owner at their other location Newport and Costa Mesa Smog on Newport Blvd, and he just told me he would get back to me. He got back to me and just challenged me to take him to court. read more

Super quick and easy! Went in at 11:45am on Friday, called beforehand and nobody was ahead of me - I was in and out in literally 7 minutes. Best smog check experience ever! The $20 coupon on their website was also nice to have - came out to $49 total once all was said and done. By the time I had gotten home 5 minutes later, the report had already made it to the DMV and I was able to pay my reg fees immediately. Small business, make sure you bring cash to tip. This place might be small and unfancy (don't expect swanky waiting area) but they have great service and are totally honest. The price is right too and is clearly posted on the board so that there is nothing hidden. The employee doing the smog check was courteous and quick and the owner was there when I visited and he was a very nice, personable gentlemen who was extremely polite in his service. I like giving my business to small companies like this and would highly recommend. read more

I needed to make my appointment at the dmv up the street and they were so attentive to make sure that happened. Allow about 10 minutes for each car in line and you'll know exactly how long you'll be there. They are such nice people - I'd recommend them to anyone who needs a smog check! Very fast and kind employees. Takes about 10 minutes if there is nobody ahead of you to get everything done. I had 47 dollars in cash and they charged 48 dollars for the test and were very nice about just letting me pay 47. Overall a great and easy place to get a smog test done! read more

No loss of income $15K, no future medical allowance $28K, nothing for additional cost of car rental $800. Nothing for being rear ended and snapping my neck sideways $15K. I thought policies covered $50K per person per accident. WTF. AAA doesn't wanna cover the person you rear ended?

Never patronize this business. they are not Cv safe. the owner screamed at me, yelled epithets, even dropped f bombs at me. I was hesitant to get out of my car. He was clearly not clean, unkempt and unshaven. I would not want this dirty man in my car under any circumstances but certainly not during CV so I asked to remain in the vehicle and he could slide the instrument in with me moving over. he then blew up! I have been insulted before but never for no reason like this and certainly never from refusing a dirty man into my space. he then yelled at me, called me. Trumper (i am a lifelong Democrat) and he got so mad and so insulting that his coworker tried to restrain and call him but he could not. All the while I am still in my new nice car that I purchased out of state so I neended a CA smog. never go here. The world needs to be a place where little angry men are punished for being bullies. and "Mike" does not deserve your business. I also filed a complaint with the Stste of CA if that does anything. read more

I had a friend who took his car here to get smogged a few years ago, and they broke his drivers seat by falling full force onto the side of his seat like you fall onto a couch. Yelp removed his review so you can't see it, so I decided to post a review because I don't think Yelp should have removed his review. I'm guessing that the owner contacted Yelp and forced them to remove his review. Anyway, he talked to the owner at their other location "Newport and Costa Mesa Smog" on Newport Blvd, and the owner just pushed on the seat to try to fix and hide the broken seat to try to make it so you couldn't see that the seat was broken on the inside. He said he would get back to him, and later basically just challenged him to take him to court. read more

Customer for life These guys are the best! Extremely knowledgeable, very nice, and very efficient. I went their in the middle of the day. There were several cars there waiting when I arrived, yet Robert still greeted me right away, took care of some of the paper work, and did everything else. As soon as one car was done being smogged, they would pull the next one in immediately and start working. I figured i would be there for at least an hour, but thanks to their efficiency and teamwork, i was in and out in 20 minutes. They provide a nice shaded area to relax while waiting as well. Overall, the best smog check experience ive ever had, would and will recommend this place to everyone! read more

Fast, Friendly, and Hassle-Free! I had such a great experience at Costa Mesa Smog Test Only! The location was easy to find, and the entire process was quick and efficient -- I was in and out in no time. They even have a cute little seating area where you can wait comfortably while they take care of everything. The staff was super helpful and professional, and the customer service was truly 5-star. friendly people - was a reasonable $50 including the certificate and a $2 credit card fee ($48 if you pay cash) in and out in ~10 mins! - a little hard to find (behind car wash in an converted old garage) with some interesting fun wall art i would say ~4.4 stars which would have been 5 stars if it there was better signage from 17th st and on the building, making it easier to find read more

Awsome place. I called in and asked the price. A guy answered the phone and was very polite. He gave me the total price including the certificate and the transfer fee. When I got there, there was no hidden fee. I waited a short time and the test was done. Very proffessiopnal and friendly place. I highly recommend them. Highly recommended. It's hard to find great customer service these days, but this place represents everything that great customer service entails. They were fast and helpful. Good prices. They even stayed open late for me because I didn't get off work in time. They were such nice people. Definitely go there for your smog test!! read more

We were surprised by this review. our invoices state in bright red letters that there is a 30 day limit on free re-tests. We did try to work with Alexandra by offering her a retest for a cheaper price, But she chose to essentially blackmail us by demanding it to be completely free or bad review us on yelp. read more
