This place is a hidden treasure. This was my first visit. If you want to support local small businesses definitely give this place a try. It's in downtown Avondale in a historic how that's part of the cities history. I ordered an egg herb and cheese bollo. I had never heard of it before. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten. I will definitely be back for another one. I enjoyed their tea also. I came here for their weekly event for "Fiber and Friends" and worked on my crochet project. They are also a worker-owned cooperative. Coldwater is housed inside a cute and cozy house. There's plenty of seating. In addition to coffee, breakfast, pastries, and more, they also sell produce and baked goods. I was greeted right away. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered an oat milk latte with honey and cinnamon powder as well as an eggs, herbs, and cheese bollo. I learned that a bollo is a hand-stuffed soft brioche dough filled with eggs, local meats, and seasonal ingredients. It was served warm and was delicious! My latte was also wonderful. This cute little house that has been converted into a coffee shop has a quiet relaxing feel. I love coming here and ordering the "Bollas." There's a variety to choose from. It is a unique & tasty dish that's perfect for a quick bite. You can tell it's made with love but be careful, it can be hot when you first get it so make sure you cut into it and let the steam out before consuming. This is a really cute coffee house that grows a lot of its produce and bakes its own bread and muffins. Everyone is super nice and helpful, I asked many questions. Sadly I wasn't impressed with the breakfast items I ordered, I was super excited to try them. The portions are extremely small and the food lacked flavor. I would suggest larger portions and adding some seasonings since the items were $9 each. Also adding some descriptions to the menu items would be helpful. This spot has great food and drinks. We've been here twice and the food takes awhile (but worth it). My only thing is the bell on the front door. It is SO loud. This place is always busy and it's an old house so, it's creaky when everyone walks in already and you can hear that. I'm not sure why they need a bell to scare the jeebies out of us. First time visiting. Food quality and flavor were excellent. Prices are reasonable especially for fresh food with quality ingredients. This is a stand in line to order shop with self serve seating much like a coffee shop rather than a restaurant but the food does not disappoint and surpasses most restaurants. Portions are appropriately priced. Iced lattes were very good. Service was friendly even when they were very busy and multitasking. I appreciated the small business feel and relaxed environment. The shop appears to be under construction and come summertime it could use more inside seating to ensure you get a spot to sit and eat although they do have outside seating as well. Not taking away any stars because it's clear they are working on improving and I look forward to visiting again soon to see how that's going. The bollos are amazing here! Cold water coffee is located in downtown Avondale. There is a small parking lot or street parking. The bollos take a while to make to highly recommend ordering online if short on time. I got the drip coffee and got the egg herb and cheese and then the ham and cheese on the 2nd day ($7 each). Although a little pricy, these are one of the better breakfast pastries I've had! The egg one was soft scrambled and good balance of cheese, bread is heavenly, soft on the inside and fluffy on the inside. Ham and cheese was stuffed with ham and cheese. Coffee was good and on the dark roast side. Overall solid treat meal! Would love to try the latte my next visit! read more

If I had one food for the rest of my life to have for breakfast it would be the egg, herb and cheese bollo. It's a warm and delicious bite upon opening the bollo. The combination of the cheese, egg and the freshness of the herbs that are grown behind the restaurant make this dish so delightful! I always get this one and try a new one each time but nothing compares to the egg and herb one! The Mexican migas are ere delicious and the salsa was good and packed a little punch with the heat. I'm sad to write that I won't be frequenting here anymore, the food is so so delicious so I highly recommend that. The bollos, french toast and waffle are all amazing. I'm never too impressed with my lattes, even when I ask for extra ice it's such a high milk ratio. They're always out of matcha when I go, though it's the best matcha i've had in the area, just sucks it's always out of stock when I go. The reason I won't be back is the customer service. I truly feel unwanted every single time I come. I've continued to come even after the first few negative experiences, but it's gotten to the point where I don't think it's worth it. One of the main baristas, not sure of his name, is never friendly and always seems SO annoyed to be there and taking orders. He would like pull the order papers/receipts and slam them on the counter rolling his eyes. He slams stuff all the time we can hear it from the back lol. It's been at least 5 times where my friends and I are feeling so uneasy and awkward after placing our orders. The woman who works in the kitchen or brings it out is even more unfriendly. I haven't had many interactions with her but every time she brings the food out I feel so awkward after because of her attitude. They've turned an old home to fun little coffeehouse. They have bread for purchase and fresh produce and too. Mexican Mocha is an unbelievable mixture of coffee, sweetness, and spiciness in one a drink. I'm dumbfounded trying to describe in my review. I also had the Chorizo Bollo which a little ball of bread baked to perfection, with chorizo inside. The bread is crunchy crust and soft billow bread with chorizo inside. Really cute place. So much room to sit and eat or drink. The register area was very crowded. We came in between 2 good sized groups of people. Ordered 2 vanilla lattes extra hot to go. There were 5 to 6 drinks ahead of ours. There was a DJ playing records which created a great atmosphere. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes, enjoying the music. Once we got our lattes, they were definitely extra hot. However one was noticeably lighter in weight that the other as it had much more foam. That was disappointing. Amazing little coffeehouse! In all my time in AZ, I don't think I'd ever been to old town Avondale, but was on the west side and had this place bookmarked forever so I was excited to try it! It's a little tucked away, but the signage made it easy to find. Small parking lot but there were spots available on a weekday morning around 8:30. They have Xanadu coffee which gets a thumbs up from me. I ordered a cold brew with oat milk and honey. They have a cold brew happy hour too but I missed it! I also got pecorino and herb scones. Not usually a scone girl but I do like savory ones sometimes! It's cool they have their own baked goods. The scones were soft and herbs in them were super fresh. Service was pretty fast and no complaints! The coffee shop is adorable too, in an old house, plenty of seating plus a little picnic bench outside. The young man who brought it to me seemed proud to serve it and he should be! The place is exactly what I look for, a local, funky converted house. Only knock was the service from the woman at the front counter, not friendly or welcoming. I was the only guest, but she had me wait for a few minutes before greeting me so she could rinse some dishes. When my coffee was done, she came around the counter, set it on a table, and called "Latte for number 2." Again, I was the only person there and I was 20 feet away from her. I absolutely LOVED this quaint coffee shop! They use home grown ingredients in their cuisine making every dish very special, knowing it's good quality and home grown! The service is very quick even when it's quite busy. Now onto the drinks and food... My husband and I both ordered a sweetened dirty chai (per usual). I would probably not order one again. They use a house blend chai but there is too much of a spice residue in the actual drink it makes it VERY HARD to finish because it's an inch thick of spices at the bottom. If I could offer any advice (from over 10years of experience as a barista) I would put the chai concentrate through a cheese cloth and catch the spices so that it's not so full of sediment...it's just TOO MUCH. Also I would add slightly more chai concentrate to the drink as it tastes a bit watery. Honestly I need to go back so that I can try a plain latte to see how the espresso is. My husband and I shared a churro muffin and a carrot cake muffin. Their muffins are AMAZING! Very tender and fluffy yet not overly sweet! I love that they put EVERY ingredient on the box so you can see what's in it. We both tried the grilled cheese with ham and arugula and it was spectacularly outstanding. I was expecting very basic flavors but this surprised me! They use a homemade mayonnaise with fresh arugula from the garden and homemade sourdough! Was a little taken aback when I found it was actually what looked like a residential home converted to a restaurant. It has a small sign on the door, so that confirmed it really was the right place. Once you step inside, you'll be very glad you did! A really cozy setting with friendly staff that greets you right away at the modest counter with a bakery display, and menus to help find what you're looking for. I needed to be educated on what exactly Migas were, and the guy at the counter was super descriptive about how it was made. I ended order that and an iced coffee mocha. You seat yourself at anyone of the tables located throughout the rest of the restaurant. The food came out timely, and this was the best part! The food is amazing, it's not the typical ginormous serving size, but a modest amount of hot, delicious, homemade food. The iced mocha was delicious, too. You can actually purchase fresh produce like carrots, herbs, and different items I'm a sucker for sourdough so when I saw the chef put our fresh baked sourdough I quickly grabbed 2 of them. I made avocado toast this morning with the sourdough and it was divine I ordered a caramel latte layered and it was beautiful (yes coffee can be beautiful) I ordered an egg, cheese and bacon bollo I thought bollo meant bowl but it's actually bread The dosh was piping hot and it's stuffed bread I've never seen anything like this before and it was amazing The chef asked if we wanted some house salsa but due to our inability to handle spice we declined He then made us fresh house salsa with baby kick for our punk spice palette Everything was delicious and you can tell the owners have a lot of pride in what they've built They are family oriented as aunts, uncles, cousins and even abuelita stopped in for treats I'll definitely be coming back read more

Love this neighborhood spot! Such a cute little vibe. My partner and I stopped by here on a Saturday morning just to get out of the house. Now pulling up, the house looks like it needs a little love, I noticed a broken window and peeling paint, but inside is a quaint and sweet little shop. They even have a little farm stand to purchase herbs and veggies! (The herbs were a little worse for wear, but still a cute concept!) we both got coffees, a loaf of sourdough and I ordered a turkey sandwich. I'm a sucker for a good cold deli sandwich and this was by far one of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had, fresh turkey, thick slices of cheese and a soft roll with crisp chips!
