Costco Optical staff was so rude to my mother today. We went in (a little after closing) to make an appointment. The lady there put our appointment in but when my mom asked a quick question about insurance, she interrupted her saying "we're actually closed right now, as that sign says," incredibly condescendingly. I work at a small store, and even if we're closed, if someone asks a question, I'll answer. It's not like we were asking to have the appointment then and there. Rude lady. Just kept repeating "we're closed right now, closed closed." Probably not coming back after this appointment. They should fix their customer service. read more

I've recently noticed a drop in customer service across the board. At the store today as I inquired about my renewal payment one individual treated me like he was a police officer dealing with a thief caught red handed. Then, at Membership investigating the issue, treated dismissively until a Supervisor intervened (who was good). Then paying for two items I was double charged and then again, treated like some 'thing' to avoid and rush out. This is the most stressful Costco I've shopped in. 1) Narrow aisles. Worse than other locations. When people block one end of the aisle to line up for samples, forget about it. Can't management give sample people more space to set up someplace else? 2) 2nd-rate coffee selection. Shoreline is the place to go for coffee. They' still have a coffee roaster, with better coffee and a bigger selection, often cheaper per pound than what's offered at Kirkland. 3) Rude "courtesy clerks." The cashiers do a fairly good job. About half the time, the clerks helping them do a good job too, but yesterday we were treated to Christa. I've encountered slacker Costco clerks before, but Christa was outstanding in her field. Carts were backing up while she was joking with people who were still working. Was she on a break? Then, flapping her arms, she ran up to a friend lined up right behind us. Should I grab a box and get to work? Self check-out is great, but it's not allowed here. (This should be a test store.) If Christa had a clue, she could've waited until we were done, which would involve doing her job for 10 seconds. Then she could hug and reminisce with her old friend, but Christa didn't give a crap. I work in customer service. Rule 1: Don't ignore your customer, especially in a crowded store where shopping is an endurance test. Rule 2: Don't push a cart at me like you want to hit me. I've had increasingly rude service at Costco. We accept that it's crowded. By the time I make it to the check-out line, I'm beat. Help me pay and I'm happy, but if you won't acknowledge me when you're taking my money, much less bust a move to box up my purchases, then offer self check-out. I won't shop here if it means rude service. If workers are maxed out, give them more breaks or more money so they will care about their customers. Fire clerks lacking social skillz and pass the savings along to me? Costco has great deals, but we always have options. Conclusion: I hear you no longer need a biz license to shop at Cash N Carry. I worked at this store 10 years ago when I emigrated to the United States from Hawaii. The store was the eighth one built (the store #8 thing on the receipts), so the parking and layout have long since been superseded. They can't retroactively put in a gas station because of the wetlands near it. There is always talk of rebuilding it, but who knows? I didn't work there that long - I got kinda lucky and was able to pretty much retire from there and ultimately wind up in Boca Raton, FL where I shop at store #345. My first customer as a cashier was the daughter-in-law of the CEO. Have fun up there. I kinda miss Kirkland and haven't made it back since 2003. I just got back from Istanbul where they sure would love everything about Costco except maybe the pork section. read more

Beware of their Optical Department !!! My insurance pays 100% for an eye exam yearly. Over a year ago my wife got an exam and 2 pairs of glasses. They said they would bill my Blue Shield insurance. Over a year later I get a call saying I have to pay $80 because my insurance rejected the claim. I called my insurance and they never submitted the claim or it would have been paid. Now over a year later I was forced to pay our of pocket because too much time has gone by to be covered by my insurance. They never contacted me at all via email, mail or phone for over a year and now its too late. Due to their mistake I am out $80 and they lost a repeat customer. read more

Caveat: I'm a Los Angeles transplant in the Seattle area with a new obsession with Costco. Got in at around 8pm on a Monday night and the lights stayed on and we perused and shopped until 9pm without an announcement to get out already. Fair amount of people shopping on a weeknight and close to closing time. Nobody rushed us out and we didn't feel hurried. Parking was super easy in the side lot. Found a box of Perfect Bars (I've only seen them at Whole Foods), Don Lee Farms vegan patties, Bare Apple Chips (I've been looking for them at other Costco locations to no avail), Lundberg Organic Brown Rice (way better pricing than Whole Foods), and an amazing selection of canned and jarred seafood (non-existent in California). This store, in particular, has a lot of Indian and Middle Eastern products - naan, frozen halal meat, dal, basmati rice, etc. Gas station was a great stop after shopping as they're open until 9:30pm. At $2.59, it was cheaper than what I've seen around. All in all, a great experience at what felt like a quiet neighborhood Costco. read more

Going to Costco is like a fieldtrip, there's the things you know you'll get and the unexpected treasures. I wouldn't recommend going on the weekend as the parking lot can be more like a derby race and a game of frogger... Once safely inside I navigate a sea of shopping carts and pallets to find the things I need and love to purchase at Costco for the value, something Costco has built their reputation on. Then I see the things I want, but don't need, also a good value. As usual I have a cart stacked to full as I approach the checkout lines, reminding myself again I shouldn't come on weekends. Once I get to checkout, the employees are so cheery and helpful, it really makes the buying experience, and of course, all the food samples that keep my blood sugar level high enough to come out the other side of the maze intact. Well, as usual I spent more than I bargained for, but whose fault is that, I put everything in the cart. Costco was great, just recommend going on a weekday. read more

But I am getting annoyed at constantly being hounded to upgrade to the super duper oh my gosh double extra platinum level membership that comes with access to the corporate yacht and extra sprinkles - enough already. And...your prices on staple items are not as competitive as they used to be. And you make me eat too many of your hotdogs. Great place for good food. Their bakery, private labeled food, rotisery chicken, food court food,...all is very good. The items you can purchase here are also of good quality and decently priced. One thing Costco did this year is the elimination of their awesome polish hotdogs from the food court. Sooooo disappointing as they were very tasty for which my family would often drop by Costco just for the treat of eating their polish hotdogs. I've heard that Costco traded out the polish hotdogs to make room for their new offering of hamburgers. How about trading out the regular hotdogs for polish hotdogs!?! read more

Yup, it's a Costco and it's great! I always find that I buy stuff I really don't need when I go in there but hey, it's in bulk and it's priced right so I can't help myself :) I try to go once a month as a lot of their non-food stock changes so there's always something new to drool over! Be forewarned though, their parking isn't so good, you will be able to find a spot but you might be hoofing it quite a distance from their parking in the back 40 :) read more

I LOVE shopping here. Who doesn't like free samples while you shop. And you can go back for seconds, why not. They have everything in stoke that I need. The only thing I haven't figured out is why the beverages are next to the bread and the bread is clear across the store on the other side where the beverages used to be? But thats OK as long as they have those triple berry ice cream things in the food stand out side. read more

Any of their Prime Steaks are excellent. I cook them on a charcoal grill 6.5 minutes per side depending on thickness. A little sea salt and pepper; let them rest for 15 to 20 minutes and they are perfect. Use that 15 to 20 minutes to finish whatever sides you have planned that way you aren't just waiting for the steaks and there is nothing worse than being hungry and having great food sitting in front of you, 15 to 20 minutes seems like a life time! Great location! I have came here a couple times on my way in to work and love that they open at 6 am. Not to mention they had one other person there when I was there the last time. The prices are great compared to the others on gasbuddy. The attendent came over and checked to see if I needed any help which was nice. Can't think of a better place to get fuel at! read more

I always try to remind myself not to come on the weekends, but I find myself here on Saturdays! Very busy! I don't know what comes over me when I come here to buy one or two things (sometimes three) and fight the crowds. Maybe it's just fun for me, I like seeing other people with their filled shopping carts racing for the check out lines or for the samples. hehe Can't lie - I do enjoy samples! They always have what I need (and sometimes what I don't need but buy anyway). Overall, this location is solid and I always return to this one bc it's the closest to Bellevue. This is specifically for the Tire Center, please do not use. There are plenty of tire stores nearby on 85th that have better customer service. I ordered my tires, and only 3 came in. In total, I had to go in two times, and spend a total of 4 hours waiting for my tires to get installed, with little feedback or updates from the service personnel. So go ahead and buy your large quantities of toilet paper here, but please don't buy tires here. read more

Terrible parking, the lines are constantly atrocious (When I asked a cashier why they only had a handful of registers open when they had lines so long they were blocking foot traffic, they said that management had cut people and hours down to a skeleton crew so one of them could get a bonus. I gotta wait in line for 20 minutes so one guy can line his own pockets?) Don't even bother going there on a weekend. Tried going on a Saturday evening and I even had to wait in line just to get a CART! They had only one person out there gathering the carts and had run out. Whoever is in charge there needs to get their shit together. Needless to say, I'd rather go out of my way and visit one of the other Costcos than return to this one. read more

This Costco is not so bad. I like that they are clean and orderly and have variety in the samples. I have to laugh when I'm trying to buy something and they complain that I'm not a member even though I'm in there with a member buying tons of stuff. The parking lot is a living hell or the week before Christmas year around. The lines are a little slow and long at the registers; I'm not sure why they don't open all the lanes when lines get so long. Overall though I feel that they get the job done and it's pretty good. I'll keep shopping here and someday buy a membership as well. read more

You can't beat Costco. The Kirkland location has a lot of good stuff, and higher end items than at many other costco's. They are currently rebuilding their parking structure, which is definitely needed, as this is one of the busiest costco's I've been to. The place runs smooth, has great deals on everything, and I go back every single weekend. Can't be beat. read more

It's Costco - there aren't a lot of surprises. Essentially all stores are the same. I won't go on about traffic or people that shop here being rude or empty-headed - that's not something Costco can control. I will say that I shop here about twice a month and I typically have a good experience. Yes, parking is challenging. For a business that is a good problem. The store staff is usually friendly and helpful. I have been at the checkout counter and realized I missed something and had one of the employees literally RUN to pick up my forgotten item. When I ask for help finding something I get help. When I have large orders I am usually offered help out with my order. I often want to split my order and typically there is no problem with that. I had a problem recently and called the store to talk about the behavior of an employee. I was able to speak with a manager right away and he allowed me to vent for a moment. He promised to follow up with the employee. He also promised to replace the item the employee damaged due to rough handling. I wish there was something that could be done about the congestion due to product sampling. People will forget everything else and stop and wait for a free cracker, blocking traffic in all directions. I love the samples too, but I try very earnestly to keep my cart from blocking others while I get a sample. read more

She checked every store and was able to track one down. She went above and beyond to get it to The Kirkland store for me! I felt like a true member to high service establishment. I bought my frames online and wanted to get lenses from a store. Almost all stores out there are charging around $200 for regular plastic lenses( they are kind of penalizing you for buying frames somewhere else) My insurance would roughly cover this amount but I hate paying more . So if you have your own frames and want to get your lenses filled in, Costco is your best option. You do pay around $80. I think it is pretty reasonable deal. They never mentioned in Kirkland location but in Seattle location,they said you would have to choose a frame from their store in case they break the frame. (they have limited selection and pushing the customer to choose from a a limited selection is not a good approach) So nothing happened to my frame so far and other than that , I am happy with Costco. read more

Costco Kirkland..ugh. Horrible, dangerous parking lot. Despite many excess staff standing in groups chatting, the management choose not to have any of them go out and keep traffic moving in the front lot near the store. There are too many people that view Costco as a drive thru restaurant and idle in the parking lot blocking parking for the handicapoed or for folks who need to load items while they have someone run up and stand in line for food. Other idlers are folks who think they are entitled to valet parking by their spouse, so the parking is further congested by those who prefer not to walk in from a parking spot. Rather than give City of Kirkland the revenue in taxes, i take my Costco dollars to Woodinville, where parking. Is not dangerous nor congested. read more

Although most everything is size large or larger at Costco, there are still many reasons a person shopping for one would want to belong to Costco. They have a great wine and book department. They also have housewares, luggage, vacuum cleaners, etc and they usually have great prices although they do not have wide variety. Last week they had an outstanding price on fresh Copper River salmon ($10 less per pound than QFC). Their cheese selections are limited but very good - I found the best prices on Beecher's Flagship at Costco. It's definitely worth the yearly membership price. read more

It's costco. This Kirkland one is great, friendly staff with a good layout. Great items at reasonable costs. The only downside is that it's costco. The parking lot will be crammed, the lines will be long. Just know that, and make a fun trip out of it. read more
