This is a great Costco! It's well located and very well staffed by an incredible group of people who do a wonderful job with the displays and restocking everything in a timely manner. We found the selection of items to be great here. I found my favorite butter chicken sauce that I cannot get in the States. I'm taking four jars home. The prices here are great as they are at all Costco's and we enjoyed several of the things that we purchased here while visiting, including a wonderful leg of lamb we roasted and some delicious chicken thighs, plus my favorite Costco grass fed beef sticks. this langford location has the most mobility scooters i've seen parked by the entrance, such a thoughtful and convenient thing to offer customers who need it. it was surprisingly calm for a costco at around 8:00 pm on a tuesday. couldn't help but notice that there were lots of clothes here with prices ending in $xx.97, indicating a mark down. comfy waistband stretch pants, men's kirkland signature performance sportshirts, men's adidas golf pants, cozy two piece pjs, champion 1/4 zip, puff down vests, slouch socks, yoga pants, the wide legged flares, the short capris, and so much more. it's basically a treasure hunt in the apparel section, backed with a great refund policy. costco. always a great place for rotisserie chicken, especially when you can't decide on what to have for dinner...and a couple of stretch pants. read more

I've been a loyal Costco member for over a decade, but the decline in service, organization, and overall experience at this location is hard to ignore. During our most recent visit, a supervisor approached us at the till and started nagging us about how we should be handling items in the cart for checkout -- something that has never been an issue in the past 10 years. Every other employee has consistently told us to leave certain items in the cart, but this supervisor decided to make a scene about it. We didn't actually have to remove anything, but the way she handled it was needlessly rude, condescending, and unprofessional. It left a sour taste for the rest of the visit. On top of that, the parking lot is now a hazard. Management has chosen to pile up shopping carts right in a main vehicle thoroughfare where people are crossing and cars are moving way too fast. It's dangerous and incredibly poorly thought out. To make matters worse, this location is frequently out of common staples like carrots and other basic produce items. It's become a frustratingly regular occurrence for a store that sells itself on bulk reliability. This Costco used to be a great, dependable place to shop. First time in Canada means that I have to try the Costco food court! Their food court is similar to the US menu except that they have French fried and chicken strips. You have an option to get the French fries with gravy or poutine style, so of course I got the poutine. They still have the polish sausage for their hotdogs, something us Americans will be very jealous about. The prices are also all in CAD, so a $1.50 hotdog and drink combo is actually $1.10 in USD, what a steal! They do not skimp here. They loaded up the fries and they don't hold back on the cheese for the poutine either. The fries are pretty good too, with a slight crisp. The chicken was also very moist and tender. I love coming to this location when I'm in town. It's very conveniently located near several other shops as well. They have plenty of parking available as well. I've never seen the store get overly busy, but weekends do tend to be busier than your average weekday. That being said, I've still been able to get in and out fairly quickly. The store has the same awesome deals and prices I'm use to in the U.S., perhaps even better since the selection is different. The real shining star of this location though is the food court. They have a kiosk to place orders just to the right of the food court. I'm so glad they've added this, because some previous visits the food court line was a nightmare I avoided. Now I can place my order and it's ready within minutes at the pickup counter. Some cool differences from the menu we have in the states would be the poutine, chicken tenders and fries, and the fact that they still have polish hotdogs. The service is always friendly and that poutine will have me coming back each time I'm on the island. read more

When the kids are occupied by grandparents and you have some time alone with your hubby - sometimes you just need to go on a hot date.... to Costco. Also, we needed to buy a computer. On a weekday morning, this place was PACKED. This is the closest costco to Victoria and people travel pretty far to come here. I would hate to see it on a weekend. The staff was incredibly curt (Canadians aren't always "nice") as we were doing self check-out, an attendent actually came over to us and said to me "YOU PACK WHILE HE PAYS" hmmmm..... also they don't take credit cards. If warm fuzzies is what you're going for, this probably isn't the place - but otherwise, its a costco.... you'll probably find what you'd expect. read more

Optical Department... On the five occasions I have visited to obtain new frames/lenses, the optician exam was good and professional. The demeanor of the counter staff however, (who sell and fit glasses) has ranged from curt to downright rude. Ok. I have a few comments. The overall experience shopping? Hey, it's Costco and it's always busy and there's always a line. Also, I have gone in there SO many times thinking, "oh, I only need a few things". Next thing you know I'm walking out with $400 worth of groceries. Can't help it. There is always more than what I am looking for. There is always lots to choose from, great a great selection of items; from electronics, clothes appliances and of course food in bulk. I do have one complaint for sure. I bought the upright double door deep freeze, great price; unfortunately, half the freezer stopped working only a few months later. I lost probably about $300 worth of food. Costco was great though, let me bring it in and exchange it straight across for a new identical freezer. Warranty. However, the same thing happened with the new freezer. This time it was full of food and lost probably about $800 or more in foods and meats. I didn't bother this time. I just junked it. I was so mad, so upset. However, in saying that, I have a positive experience as well. We bought a queen size mattress. I think was on sale for about $400?? I want to say?... but, I highly recommend the mattresses. It is one of the most comfortable mattresses I have ever slept on, and the price?? Wow, most mattresses I was looking at shopping around, especially for the comfort level, were up to and even well above $1,000.00. I recommend Costco for most of your everyday needs, especially the mattresses. But, I would recommend looking into the appliances, have very good prices for purchasing. However, it cost me alot more in food products with defective products. Research nay help. Ask questions. read more

Went here and the cashier named Paige was really rude to us. No sign posted that they don't take Visa and then she states that only the cardholder of the Costco membership can pay the bill, and not my husband when in fact he pays the credit card bill which was funny. She waved me over to an ATM machine since we had no money on the debit card and ended up paying $30 in interest due to the cash advance. Stopped by here for gas. I am not sure why the gas stations are called gas bars in Canada. Another thing that was quirky about the gas station is that it didn't have those holder things to pump gas automatically. So, you have to stand there pressing the gas pump until it stops. I tried pumping at 2 different pumps because I thought the first one was broken. I wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly until a nice employee came by and told us that they didn't have automatic pumps yet. Even at Costco, gas was pretty expensive (slightly below $1.40 CAD/L for regular in early July 2019). I don't quite understand gas pricing in BC. Gas prices were cheaper in Tofino/Ucluelet, which I assume has to have gas shipped in from other parts of Vancouver Island, than in Victoria or the Lower Mainland. US Citi Costco Visa cards now work both at the gas station and inside the store, but otherwise, you need cash/Mastercard/debit. The parking lot was easily maneuverable on a weekday morning, and the inside of the store also seemed nice and roomy. Most things seem more expensive than at US Costco locations, even after converting from CAD to USD (i.e. rotisserie chicken and Haagen Dasz ice cream bars). They had self check-out at this location, which was nice. There were no issues using the US Costco Citi card at self checkout. treated Rudely by a staff member, almost as if I was a vagrant. We were in the market for some new living room furniture. My wife and myself were doing our typical Costco shopping when we saw a beautiful leather sofa. We were sitting on the unit, inspecting the quality of the leather, stitching , but most importantly how comfortable it was. I started reading the product info on the unit when an employee named 'sun' came up to us and asked us to leave. I was confused and asked her what she meant. She told me to get moving and there are other people that would like to look at the same unit. There was nobody nearby waiting to look at it, the aisle was empty. I explained to her that we are potentially buying this sofa because it matched our living area Perfectly. She said it didn't matter and to get going. I really enjoyed getting to browse the lens area in the optical department. The staff here lets you browse among yourself and discover which lens fit you. Great selections and designs, great doctors as well. Unlike stores such as Claire's, they don't pester you while you browse. I was helped by a woman who helped me select which lens colour I would enjoy for my prescription sunglasses, really appreciated the help because of the eye dialation. On the other hand, I would like to give a shout out to Doug, one of the staff members in the optical department. A woman gave him a really hard time the other day while he was busy helping a large amount of customers all around. she was very rude to him and he was doing a great job. I dont understand Costco. Firstly, I have a problem with having to PAY to even enter a store via membership. Stores are supposed to draw ME in, not act like they are doing me a favour by "letting" me shop there because I paid them off. Secondly, when I have gone with my Mother who shops there and compared prices, they are really not that great. I find better deals at Wal-Mart and Superstore, to be honest. Everything from produce, to soy milk, cartons of egg whites, ice cream, snacks, grocery staples, and toiletries, I can honestly say that I can get it all for quite a bit cheaper at Wal-Mart/Superstore. And lastly, it is always a zoo in there... i find it so stressful to park, shop around and dodge shoppers/carts, and then even when you get home you've got bulk items the size of small children to lug into your house. I find Langford Costco great. Have been daunted by the sheer volume of carts and people in the store and the checkout lineup but find their management of the lineup generally keeps the traffic flowing and have very seldom waited nearly as long as I feared I might. My sole negative comment: I wish they would allow smaller quantities! Especially the bakery section and my prime thorn being the ciabatta buns. How does a single person eat that many buns before they go rock hard? I understand that half the quantity would be more than half the price of their usual humongous quantity but I understand, extra staff time, extra packaging/labeling, etc. all come into it. Continually ask for an express isle for smaller amounts. Only one cashier told me that Costco wants large purchases not minimal. Also mark each isle...aka Albertsons, Thriftys, all grocery stores. Need to jump through unnecessary hoops to access an online account. The card (which has been active as a membership for many years) needs to be specially activated for the online account in person, and once that is done, the link that they send is time-limited. I did do this, but was slow to complete the process... Unfortunately, I live rurally with a 12-hour travel day for going to the warehouse in person - an activity that I am reluctant to do in any case during the Covid pandemic; so, this means that it has been months, and now will be longer, just to access our account online. It was easier to set up online account access at our financial institution, a business that requires far greater security than the Costco retail outlet. Frankly, I find that this is poor customer service and disrespectful of the time of rural Costco members. read more

My all time favourite place ever for all my needs. If I am on vacation, it is my first stop. All their products are top notch quality and you can always trust the prices. I generally like Costco. There are problems with sizes such as sour cream in quart sizes, something too large for my wife and I but it is a wholesale store so catering to bigger buyers. I have diabetes, no thyroid, and high blood pressure so need a variety of meds to stay alive. Recently I brought in a renewed prescription to fulfill and the size of the high blood pressure meds had changed for a couple of them. Whoever filled the prescription was not paying careful attention to detail. They had not doubled the pill size, as required, and instead must have got confused with my previous prescription. Today I tried to phone the pharmacist multiple times regarding one of the medications but no one picked up the phone. I even phoned the Costco office and they said they would contact the pharmacy to let them know the phone was not working. No luck so far. This is not usual. I have been enjoying lower costs for filling prescriptions for years. About $5 per prescription compared to about $10 elsewhere. That adds up when you ask for 4 or 5 prescriptions to be filled all at once. Hoping things get sorted out in the Langford Costco soon. Meanwhile will be watching the dispensing like a hawk to make sure what I need is what I get. read more

Our family were in to your Tire shop late in the day last week ( January 3rd ), with a slow leak from what turned out to be a nail embedded in the front drivers side tire . The shop was too busy to see to the repair as it was so late ~ so we left to do our Costco shopping as usual . One hour later , as we leaving and passing by the tire shop to get to our car , one of your mechanics , Robbie , pulled us aside and said that they had finished other repairs sooner than expected ~ and could now fit us in . Turns out that the tire was very badly damaged internally and had lost 15psi just while we were away shopping ~ and , we were informed , was at risk of blowing out either on our long return journey home , or soon after at any time . Your mechanic Robbie probably saved us from great danger by making time to bring our Saab in for the tire checkup that night , and we shall be eternally grateful to both he , Jason in the office , and Costco's excellent service policy ! The two new Pirelli tires arrived within three shipping days and are now safely on the car ., and our thanks go out to all staff involved . Robbie's attitude and obvious skills throughout the process we thought to be above and beyond the call of duty .
