A cashier and a manager made a big stink when I didn't have my photo ID even though I had a Costco card with my name on it and 15 credit cards with a matching name. Okay, I get it. Nice Costco. I like that this one has a Costco gas station, which I go to often. I sometimes even go get gas there without going into the actual Costco warehouse itself. There is a nice tire center. One time I had a flat tire right after I shopped at the warehouse, and they were able to look at my tire right away. They helped me change to a spare, and then the very next day they got the new tire shipped in and was able to replace my tire the very next day. Very professional. Their cafeteria is outdoors, so you can line up and eat outside. I also bought toilet paper here during the first shut-down of the pandemic. Wait several hours outside. There is no need for that now. All Costco is similar, but they're not the same. This one in CalExpo is a building in a more limited space, and Costco added the gas station after a few years crossed the street. The store is very nicely located in the middle of the Sacramento area next to CalExpo. Very close to Interstate 80 Business loop (the Capital City Freeway). The location is almost the best. However, the store is on more limited land. So the parking lot is almost always a mess. The gas station of this location is the smallest in the Sacramento area's Costco. The lines are out of the gas station into the street. I heard they're going to move the gas station soon to a different and bigger spot. I hope it happens soon. The store itself is as good as all the Costco in the city. I enjoyed shopping at this Costco too. read more

Came to this Costco for the first time ever and you can be sure enough won't be coming here again. We went to check out our items and got served my cashier named ANGELICA. She saw my daughter brought us 2pcs of chocolate samples and right away she tells someone over her ear piece and I totally heard her say "the way they are sampling these chocolates we will run out soon". One Black dude comes and asks her something and she kinda shows him my family and mumbles something to him. The guy walked straight to the area where the chocolate samples were being handed out. When I confronted her and asked "if there was a problem if we are sampling these chocolates, Angelica gets totally defensive and goes" oh ma"am why would it be a problem, you can sample as much as you like. That's what samples are for, you can get as many as you like. YOU CAN TELL SHE COMPLETELY MADE THAT UP to avoid the fact I heard what she said over her ear piece. SINCE WHEN ARE COSTCO CASHIERS WORRIED ABOUT SAMPLES, it's not coming out of there pay checks and they should only stick to being cashiers and doing their job. This Costco has a food court on the outside. For those who were wondering, their samples are back. This Costco is always pretty busy so when you come you'll need to bring your patience. Everything is always clean. The employees are friendly and helpful when you need to find something. Their gas station is located across the street. They usually have a couple people directing traffic and helping out. read more

Today is gas day, so I went on over to Costco to put gas and do some shopping after. I really had to use the restroom so I'm going to the restroom first. I decide to walk through the exit as I always see people doing that since I'm a regular at this Costco. I'm already entering the building when a woman named "Saraj" says I can't go in through there. I asked her why and she said it is a safety hazard. I'm already inside the building and there are no cars or people coming but she wants me to exit and go around the entrance and go through the middle thing right behind her. So going into the enting then cutting through the inside and going through the exit is not a safety hazard? Oh well. Anyways I was already inside the building but I exited then went through the entrance as she said. I went to the bathroom then I was exiting the store to go get a cart to do my weekly shopping here. When I was half way to the exit I see two gentlemen following me. Then when I am at the exit one of the two African American gentlemen tells me, "are you the one that was all up in her face?" This shocked me. The store that I go do every week that I spend thousands of dollars at yearly is saying I was getting into the woman's face. I informed the gentleman about the situation how I was already there and she wanted me to go the other way. I come here every week I always see people going through the exit but today the only time I try to do it it is an issue. The gentleman explained to me they might do it at other Costco's but at this one we've never allowed that. I come to this Costco weekly and see it weekly. I asked him why was he making a false accusation saying that I was in her face. Then he said "I mean assumed getting in her face". I then proceeded to explain to the two gentlemen that I was never in her face. They didn't like that I told them that he was making false accusations of me so both of the gentlemen on the contrary were now getting in my face. They were trying to tag team talking and didn't let me speak. Nate was speaking to me after getting close to me as if the other gentleman wasn't already. So I told them i'm going to go in through the entrance but do not make false accusations of me. They were two order African-American gentlemen one his name I did not get, the other his name was Nate. The girl in the exit her name was Saraj. I like this Costco. Well I mean I used to like this Costco because it was close to me but now I'm going to have to drive further away to another Costco were they do not make false accusations or a lie about people never going in through the exits as I see it daily. Extremely poor customer service. Tried to contact them for days and finally gave up & called the Costco Loomis Optical which picked up immediately. I am out of money because an order I placed online on Wednesday, 12/19, was to be delivered on 12/24, and now it was canceled this morning, 12/23, claiming the card payment was the issue. Which it is not, and why would you take four days if it was? Why does It take days to notice and notify me? I used a Visa gift card, and now I no longer have that card since I thought it was used up. I hadn't been to Costco for 8 weeks due to COVID and I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of shopping here last week. And...Bounty paper towels. Restrictions on purchases of high demand items prevents hoarding. I got meat, paper products, butter, vanilla, a BIG bag of flour, some produce...and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese (how I missed you, darling!). Wait, I haven't reviewed this Costco yet? Huh. Strange. I thought I had. It's up there on my list of preferred Costcos, situated conveniently off the old 160 coming out of town. "Conveniently" if you live on the grid, that is. I frequently stop here on my way up the hill (On The 80, yo!) to gas up and grab whatever I need. Those gas prices, tho. What's Good? -I actually LIKE that the food court is outside, though if homeless people bother you, be wary. It's still $1.50 and that's a cheap dinner for anyone. There isn't the usual cart traffic clusterfudge because of where they chose to place the food court, at least in my opinion. I try to get in and out without a cart usually. -BOOKS. They have a decent sized section here, and it's one area that I've noticed Costco cutting down on across the board. You can't beat hardcover pricing! -Big Ol' wine selection with multiple bubbly choices. Two proseccos? Unheard of! -Lovely variety of potted plants and supplies. -Painless, efficient passport photo services available, with no appointment necessary. $5 for 4x the appropriate sized photo for your application. I was so glad it was this much of a breeze as I am working on renewing my passport currently. What Sucks: -Well one thing that I can think of, and it's a decently sized thing. The parking lot is not big enough. I know, you would assume a Costco-sized lot, being it's a wholesale club and all. Nope. Thankfully, there's some cheats. The REI lot across the street provides some overflow spaces. There's also my favorite trick which also works at the San Leandro Costco, if anyone cares. Parking spaces on the sides and behind the building! Gasp! I know, right? A lot of folks don't think about there being additional parking back there, but parking there is indeed. Watch for weirdos at night, ladies. -As always with any Costco, watch out for those heavy carts on the toesies. Some folks don't pay attention. Ouch. Love this costco but that 3rd party lady who handed out chocolate today needs to go. My wife n mom approached her little stand and asked about the nice display of chocolate enclosed in glas or plastic. She stated they are not giving those out and then loudly stated if any of those that walked by wanted chocolate (the other samples she was showing). She proceeded to walk across the isle n ask loudly if any one wanted to try the chocolate. Never offer once to my mom n wife. They were looking around her stand at the other products. I should have recorded her and confronted her. We were there for over 1 min n she offered her samples to over dozen people. We went straight to pay our items and I asked for the manager. After giving a shorter version to the manager (should have mentioned she walked out of her stand to the other sides of the isles and loudly asked others) he stated it's a third party and will confront the lady. He apologize and hope it didn't ruin our day (it sort of did). Hope she is never comes back or represents that chocolate brand/company. read more

I am a Costco fanatic and I have been going to the store for YEARS! But as usual their customer service LACKS! I was inside the store and the time was 7:07 on. They close at 7 however there were many people still inside. I forgot one item which was a set of pijamas and I ran back to get them literally as I finished paying for them. And I was yelled at by this guy saying this area is closed and I replied I literally just paid and I forgot one thing. He asked what did you forget and I told him. Costco's tire center really is the lamest. I brought my vehicle in for slow leak, 7lbs every 4-5 days, they said they couldn't find anything wrong and it's normal to lose air pressure. Took it to big o and they found a nail. No more tires from this place! And I'll let those lames know it every week when I walk by them too! read more

This location is stingy with their samples. I've been here a few times and they do not have a lot of sample tables compared to the other Costco's. I went here on NYE and they only had 3 tables. Advertising delicious goodies is a must on one of the busiest shopping day of the year. The Food court being outside is a bit odd to me. It's such a huge mess and danger zone considering how close it is to the road. People are distracted by pushing carts and finding parking that someone can easily get hurt just by standing in line for their food. Also, just Imagine if it's raining with strong winds, how is it possible to enjoy your meal outside in the cold/wet? They have a lot of one way traffic for parking. I noticed many people driving the wrong way, which cause unnecessary traffic jam. While waiting in line to pick up my prepaid order of pizza, I noticed a clustered of people unknowingly cutting other customers because of how unorganized that section is. I waited for a good 15 mins just for someone to hand over my prepaid and precooked pizza. Oh and when I got home, I noticed my pizza was not even sliced! Only reason I'm giving it a 2 star rating is because I love Costco at a whole, but this store easily deserves a 1. read more

Worst selection of items and availability, worst management, weird inconsistent hours (that are often misrepresented online), and the absolute poorest customer service and availability (including over the phone) out of any Costco in the greater Sacramento area, The management here is extremely poor and customers are often left stranded or treated like trash. Both my and others' interactions with the people working here are extremely disappointing, especially with their management. The parking is also terrible, and they are always extremely packed. Nothing about the lot makes sense and there is an extreme amount of wasted space out here. The food court is good and affordable as always, but are slower than most. The Cal Expo Costco is awful and every minute spent inside is extremely displeasurable. Don't get me wrong, Costco as a whole is great, but this place does not even come close to stacking up with the other stores. There is a business center on El Camino and a warehouse on Sunrise, both are 1000 times better than this dump will ever be. read more

This is the main Costco that I go to - this location is clean and generally busy but not as crazy busy as compared to the Stockton Blvd Location. it is conveniently located across from REI. They have great selection of wine and alcohol at a great price, especially if you get the Kirkland brand. And of course, they offer bulk items at a discount (wool socks here are so cheap!). For instance, they have great deals on collagen powder (currently on sale for $24 in store as opposed to $43 online!) I also appreciate the generous return policy. Did you know that you don't need a Costco membership to purchase there? I do not have a membership. You can go with someone who has a membership OR you can use a costco gift card and pay whatever is over the gift card with cash or credit card. You do need a membership to use their optometry though which is too bad for me because they have great selection of designer brand glasses that's a lot cheaper than my optometrist office. read more

I was here today in the return department. Returning item's. Allie was helping a customer talking about everything that didn't pertain to the return. As she was attempting to return this ice cream that she couldn't locate in her system. She continued her conversation with the customer no acknowledgment to me was given at all. Allie scanned 2 different memberships cards . Scanned the items at least 8 times explained to the customer she can't return if item doesn't come up. Well after 15 mins of this Allie decided to call her manager Syed. At this point I'm upset. Syed comes up. I asked Syed if Allie could help me while he helps the customer because I been waiting here a long time. Syed told me no she needs to continue assisting this customer . Once they were done helping the customer Syed began helping me. I was trying to tell him about my experience with Allie the unprofessional chatter that wasn't pertaining to work and he ignored me as well. I had to asked him if he heard me. I joined Costco again after 5 years thinking the customer service improved. Well sorry to say this location is the worse when it comes to treating customers with respect. I quit 5 years ago because me and my daughter were racially profiled. Yesterday I was in Self ck out, was asked to show my card even though we have to show it entering the store and scan it again when cking out. The looser clerk named "Reed" snatched my card from my hand which was rude, said he needed to see my picture, then moved my cart to the line. I inched up as someone moved up but Reed decided to get on a power trip and snached my cart and moved it telling me to " stay right there" I told him not to touch my cart, he told me to stay where he told me, I told him to go do your job someplace else and kept saying it until I shut him down This man was white. I then moved up again to see what he would do, but he knew not to test me again because I loud talked him. On my way out I asked for a manager. Told the Asian man named Tim what happened. He said " Oh sorry, we value your membership thought" and dismissed me. But I did not leave, I had to insist he talk to the employee and give me his Email which he wrote very sloppy, I am sure so I could not read it, so I could follow up. From what I think I can make out , it is "W471Frn@ costco.com. He gave me the email, Again, he did not care and dismissed me. I then decided to just not renew My member ship, so I went to CS to do that. Again, an Asian named man named Feng helped me and asked me why I was not renewing. I told him. Again didn't care so I wondered why he even asked me in the first place. I got to may car and decided, nope I don't even want what I bought. Returned it. Again, another. I said yep and that's why I am returning, no one seems to care that I was just treated badly and again racially profiled because I noticed all the other customers that were not black before me and after me in line were not treated this way during this whole ordeal. The next day, I called and spoke to the CS Mgr, again dismissing me when I told her what happened, her Name was Natalie. She said I could have my membership money refunded. Went in today to get my membership money back. Same Asaian man named Feng acting dismissive. Again, this Costco dose not care about how their black customers are treated. I will be filing a racially profiled complaint this time around, and a poluce rrpirt because snaching things out if someone's hand is an assult. Last time I just demanded my membership money back and quit them. No other store I have been to in and out of Sacramento I have had any problems with. That clerk that grabbed my card out of mt hand and forcefully moved my cart ( young white guy in his 20's) had a real attitude, but the people behind me and in front of me ( not black) he was not snachibg cards out of their hablnds and forcefully moving their carts. I bet if my sons, all over 6' 5 and built like refrigerators, come and visit him and ask him why they treated their black mother the way he did, he may just regret he ever did what he did. This is our local Costco warehouse. If you want to avoid tons of people shopping, then Mondays and Tuesdays are the best days to shop. If you see anything that you really like, just get it. I learned my lesson twice. I was like "nah, I really like it, but maybe next time". Well, guess what? They had nothing the next time I was there. Also, DO NOT try to park close to the store. I understand that when I get food from the Costco food court, I should not have any expectations for the quality of the food. Usually it's a sudden craving or because I need some quick/cheap food. But this berry sundae though... seriously...? It looked like somebody already ate 1/3 of the cup... the dude who made it did not look like he wanted to work there...or work at all... Initially, he actually made me a berry smoothie, even though the receipt clearly says berry sundae and I told him I was picking up said berry S-U-N-D-A-E... I have never had this happen at any other Costco in the area... usually, I'm baffled by how much yogurt they put in the cup. Too bad I did not bother to look at the guy's name tag, otherwise, I would make a note of it in my review. 11/18/19 Cashier staff is also effing rude. I was waiting in line to check out behind this other lady for over five minutes. I absolutely love Costco. You can basically find anything here! I always got everything I needed. I have to make a grocery list or else I'll walk out of there with $400 worth in my cart. (Budget tip: make a list, look at your house to see what you're running out of. Do not stock up too much. But stock up when there is a sale.) ok back to my story. Needed new tires, spoke with a guy in the tire center (turned out to be the manager) about quoting me for a new full set. Didn't know what my tire size was off hand, so he just took the year/make/model from me. Based on his research, they didn't have the tires in stock, so he said they would order them and then call me when they arrived so we could schedule an appointment to install. A week goes by, no call, so I called myself and it turns out the tires had arrived, they just hadn't called me yet. Scheduled an appointment to install. I showed up on the date/time of my appointment, they take my keys and then about 10 mins later they tell me that the wrong tires were ordered. Even more fun, the manager (who had ordered the tires) had apparently indicated in their system that I was the one that provided the tire size (bullshit). They wanted an extra $125 or so to get the correct tires ordered, I chose to get a refund and walk instead. Next day, I went to America's Tire and got a full set for $300 less, installed the same day. Summary: they researched my tire size, ordered the wrong tires, blamed me for it, and then tried to charge me for the difference in price after wasting my time. Would have been a one star review, but their screwup resulted in me saving almost 35% overall, so I guess that's worth a second star. read more
