Although service can take long, I never had a bad experience here. I've had two flat tires in two years and their warranty covered my replacements for free. On top of that the staff work super hard in getting your car fixed as quickly as possible. I would say if you bring your car here be prepared to wait at least 1.5 hours and above if not half a day. But you will definitely get your car by end of day or the next morning depending on what you get done. Receptionists try to give you updates as quick as possible, mechanics are nice enough to answer questions, and service is worth the price you pay. Compared to other Costco tire centers, this one is very suspicious. I've had different reps tell give me contradictory advice on my tires and dishonest assessments of tire conditions. All in the name of wanting to sell me new tires or dissuade me from tapping into the warranty. Got to Costco about half hour before our appointment, got checked-in, did our grocery shopping, and an hour later we were done shopping and so was the car. Service was quick and easy. The only thing I that would have made it even better was if they had told us where our car was parked. This review has two parts. One for the tire center and one for an employee. I give the tire center 3 stars. There is usually only one receptionist so it's always a line. You do not need an appointment, so that leads to long wait times. You can wait in line upwards of 30minutes plus because someone has questions and wants to talk options. Which is reasonable. However, it holds up the line. Having an appointment doesn't give you a 'jump the line' pass. You simply have to wait. The configuration also sucks. You have to park your vehicle on one side of the building, then walk all the way around to the front entrance. Fight through the crowd of people exiting the building because that's where the service desk is located (by the food court). I thought to park by the entrance, go inside, get my number, then move my car. Couldn't do that though, because you have to turn in turn in your keys. The only reason i choose this location is because there are always appointments available. Garrett gets 5 stars all the way! I had a tire rotation appointment. I received a call about 35min after I dropped my car off. I was told my tires were bald so legally i could not get a rotation. I came back to pick up my car. Garrett was kind enough to help me pick out my tires via online (my phone). He explained and showed me where to find my tire information located in my car. He went above and beyond. Go to the Newark Costco tire, save yourself the hassle. This review is for Costco Tire in Hayward. I asked to get LF tpms sensor replaced and it turned out they replaced LR instead. It's more complicated with going back and forth to Newark and Hayward, but they said the sensor replacement (supposed to be for LF) was completed and returned the car with fault still on (tpms light solid on). I told them the tpms light is still on and they said to drive it and it will eventually go away, but after 100miles it was still on. I went and got it fixed at Newark (didnt trust Hayward) and went back to Hayward to complain. I asked for manager and worker said no manager available. When I spoke to the supervisor, he started with being defensive and no interest in making things right. I even asked ChatGPT and they said the minimum costco should do is cover the service for the one sensor, but he only offered $15 after consulting with the Manager (who is now able to be reached?). You know its bad when Costco Tire Hayward already has a reputation for bad service when friend's say don't go there. I should've listened. read more

Hopefully this review helps someone. This rainy afternoon, one of my 2 months new Costco installed tires blew out. Car got towed to Costco to get the tire replaced. Luckily they had it in stock. Great job Costco! The tires are practically new with 2240 miles on them. I measured the tire depth to be 8/32 and when new they were 9/32, so I used 1/32 in 2240 miles. Now comes the not so great part. The issue is the Costco service manager, let's call him Poppy, tells me the tire is at 6/32, meaning I used up 3/32 in under 2240 miles. I told Poppy he must be measuring from the tread depth indicator groove which is 7/32 new from the factory. If measured from there, it would be 6/32. I know my tires. It is 8/32. Explaining it to him seemed futile, as we members are idiots, and don't know anything about OUR car and OUR tires. It was a waste of time explaining that I measured my tires regularly and know for a fact of the tread depth. I work on cars, trucks, bikes, all my life, so I know a few things. He kept tiresplaining that because my front and back tires are mismatched for their wear rating that it would cause the front tires to wear faster. I said that's the way they come from the factory. ALL 4 TIRES ARE OEM! The front and back are different sizes but the same manufacturer and brand. Are you saying that the manufacturer and engineers fucked up? He said yes. At this point I knew it was pointless to talk further. Especially since Poppy knew more than a bunch of German Engineers. Either way, after a few back and forths, Poppy pretty much said "Do you want the tire or not, because if not, then you can leave." Talk about a rock and a hard place right? So sure, overcharge me and let me go home. I was done arguing. I asked for the tire as evidence that they were either incompetent or lying. Poppy's manager, let's call him Shirley, refused saying since they prorated the tire, they needed to keep it. Sure buddy, sure. Covering your ass Shirley? Measure it in front of me and I can prove it is 8/32. No? It's locked in the restricted area? Ok then. One of the techs finished the install and handed me my keys. I went home and measured the other newish tire and the new new tire to make sure I wasn't nuts. The new new was 9/32 as expected. The 2 month old tire was 8/32. Given that tires last until 2/32, that would give 7/32 of "useful life". Let's say the tire is $225 new, then each 1/32 would be about $32, which is what I "should" have been charged. They charged me $69.25 for the prorate because they magically measured 6/32. How they came up with $69.25 is ??? Just magic I guess. So they charged me an extra $37. It isn't going to make me broke, but still a rip off. Is it Corporate policy to GOUGE members on the tire service/warranty? If y'all don't want to honor the warranty honestly, then don't charge for it. It's like the members have no choice but to pay for the warranty. Then we get backstabbed later for trying to use it. I hate warranties. Don't force us to pay it in the first place! I doubt the tire/service managers have any monetary incentive to scam their members? Maybe they do. Who knows, but if they do the corporate bidding, then they are just as guilty. I went to call Corporate to get the charge reversed but they were "off hours." So here I am, Yelping. I will text chat with them tomorrow, and send them this review. Hopefully they refund me $37 and call it done. If not then, I'll let the Credit Card company deal with them. 2 stars because the first install was good and the replacement tire was available and installed and working. But they lost 2-3 stars for being dishonest. I should have got my tires at Walmart instead. They were $100 less and their warranty is optional and only $10. I've had service there and never had issues. Order ahead of time and installation/services is first come first serve. Everything is very transparent. As I was notified that my tires that I ordered was delivered to the store I made my appointment. My wait time overall was past an hour and on top of that. They did not confirm with me that my tires that I order was discontinued so they ended up putting other tires on without letting me know until they were done with the job. All 4 of my rims are scraped as my car is new. One of my rims in the interior side was also scraped. I do not think I will ever go back to Costco tire shop as I thought I'd give them a chance. I ordered tires online and made an appointment for this place to get it installed. Easy, simple, straight forward, no issues. Fast forward a few weeks of driving, I noticed that my MPG has drastically changed from my old tires. My old tires needed to get replaced and they had way.....better performance in regards to MPG. I decided to check the tire pressure and inflate/deflate just in case something was wrong. I pulled up to the air pump, which is in the parking lot in front of the Tire Center, and noticed that all four tires were over inflated. I measured at 40 PSI for all four tires and basically had to deflate them just so I can get it down to 32 which is the car recommendation. To summarize, customers; PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK COSTCO'S WORK. THEY ARE PROBABLY OVER INFLATING YOUR TIRES LIKE MINE. To Costco Tire Center workers & standards, please double check your work before giving the car back to customers. You are putting people in jeopardy when tires are over-inflated. Upgrade your standards and make the world a better place please! read more

Don't try to get around this by lying to us. He then said he had our tires in stock now if we were willing to make a third trip and wait in line so he could try to fit us in. Terrible. All sales and ZERO service. Got my tires changed about 5 months back, at Hayward Costco. Recently one tire started leaking fast, so I called them to see if I could get it repaired quickly. It was an emergency. Impossible to get though to tire center on phone. One time I did, they said there were 3 people in line before me and I was put on hold. I had to disconnect after an hour, as they never came back on line. So I drove over at 7PM, while they close at 8:30PM. The person at the tire center counter brushed off any possibility of repairing the leak the same day. Apparently, they were about to close. OK, so I said how about tomorrow? Ah, if you want an appointment, it will be a week from now! If you want to do a walk-in, come tomorrow morning and line up. The line apparently often starts at 7AM while they open at 9AM. And if you are in line behind 10-15 people, you are out of luck. They only take 10-15 walk ins a day. Your turnaround time for walk ins is 5-8 hours, if you happen to get into the walk-in list. Throughout the interaction I tried to impress upon the representative that this was critical. My tire was requiring filling up every 6 hours to avoid going flat. He didn't seem to care. Make an appointment for a week out, or take your chances tomorrow early morning and hope the line is not too long. Who cares if you have to spend hundreds on Uber during that period, including, at the least, back and forth during the 5-8 hour repair window that should take 20-30 min? After all they are doing it free as part of the 'service' that comes with buying the tires from them! Meanwhile you take the inconvenience and the ride share costs. Free service for buying the tires like all tire outlets do? You will pay for an extra couple of tires while you wait for the 'free service'. And they don't even seem to care. Woke up Monday the 12/11/2023 to find a screw in my tire. Took it to Costco auto on Hesperian in Hayward, to stand in line for an hour for the employee to tell me I have to leave it all day. The auto bay was empty and how hard would have it been to assist a member with a tire or recommend to put the spare on and they could work on the tire and I could come back. It was time for the tires to be rotated and balanced, so I went to Costco.com to schedule an appointment for the service. The appointment scheduling system has been around for a couple years and this is my first time using it. Since my nearest Costco's first available appointment was over 2 1/2 weeks out, I scheduled the appointment here at Hayward since the next available appointment was only one week out. With a 12:30pm appointment, I checked in at 12:15pm. The tire shop counter is inside the store next to the Food Court, while other stores' are outside. I asked the technician how long was the wait and he said about two hours and that it would have been up to five hours without an appointment. In the meantime, I shopped in the store and had some lunch at the Food Court. Around 2pm, I checked on the status and my car was ready. I was given my paperwork and car keys and was on my way. Checking my work order, my service was completed in 1 hour 17 minutes from the scheduled appointment time, which is very reasonable and under the quoted two hours. So the avoid the long wait, schedule an appointment on the Tire Center website. It would be great if the Tire Center could call or text to advise the customer that their car was ready. Luckily, I checked the status before the 2 hours estimated time. read more

They told me it would be a wait of 1-2 hours (huge time range), and I asked if I should come back another day/time for a shorter wait, but I was told that I was actually here during a fairly good time. Park your car near the outside tire center and take out what you need from your car because they take your keys (unless you brought another set), go inside through the front entrance to the auto center desk and they'll help you with the paperwork, then they'll give you a red plastic number to put on your car. Honestly, I had a decent experience here and all the associates were friendly and helpful. read more

This Costco tire center is one of the few places that still do "first come, first serve" approach for receiving service. Not only is that the fairest approach outside of making an appointment, but this location also has some of the fairest employees. I purchased 4 new Bridgestone tires and just my luck, I hit one of those infamous bay area potholes and my wheel literally exploded, ok maybe it was just badly cracked. I rolled to the side of the freeway and saw that my tire was warped as well. I towed my car to Costco with a new wheel I purchased and the guys here fixed everything and only charged me the recycling fee for the warped tire. Wish I could give it a zero-star!...Let me preface this by saying I don't really write reviews unless you really piss me off. I'm a big Costco guy and shop there almost every week, but my tires from here, and even buy vacations on there. I had to buy two tires from there last week because one tire had side wall damage and Mark (tire tech) was great installing and explaining everything. It was better to replace two tires for tread than only one tire. I was told I could bring my tire rotation history back to show I do it on a regular basis and this would help me on my claim for tire road damage warranty. I service my car at the Toyota dealership and printed out my services for the past 5 years and brought it in today (June 1). MY records show I rotated tires every time I serviced the car at 5,000 miles, yet was told this is too frequent (not beneficial) and should be 7,500 miles. I told them this is part of my service checklist and that's what is performed by the dealership. The tire manager immediately declined my request within a couple minutes. He pointed to item 3 of the Road Hazard warranty on the back of the receipt that states, "You must keep all mechanical parts that affect tired in proper working condition". He says I needed to provide my alignment history to show my upkeep. What does my alignment have to do with sidewall damage? Also, I informed him that this is a very broad statement and could void any kind of warranty. What good is the warranty if it has this statement, as it's a CYA statement. As a consumer, how are we supposed to know what needs to be done to keep our warranty intact. I said they should recommend an alignment after the tires are done to consumers so that we know this would help us on the warranty. He said it's not their responsibility to tell us, but our responsibility to read the receipt. However, it's okay for Costco to highlight/advertise their tire warranty benefits, but not their warranty conditions. I find this very frustrating. This is after I promoted their tires and warranty to an elderly lady behind me looking to repair/replace one tire at Costco for the first time, without getting upsold on additional items. Although this will not stop me from shopping at Costco, I wanted to let Costco tire shoppers know what to expect on their warranties. The Costco return/warranty policy is not as clear as stated and it's not "All-inclusive" as most people think. They'll let people return milk, Christmas trees after Christmas, 10 year old items, etc. Yet, when someone furnishes records to show a history, they get turned away. Not looking to get anything out of this, but just wanted to inform people that NO MATTER IF YOU FURNISH RECORDS, their warranty policy has a VERY BROAD statement that will void the warranty (BUYER BEWARE). It was my first time getting tires here. The process, paperwork, and wait time seems a little more in depth (takes longer) than other tire shops but it is nice to just get your shopping/browsing done as you wait. At first they said my car needed 'standard tires' then told me I required special, more expensive tires with a higher speed rating. I was a little disappointed to hear the new price but i trusted them. The supervisor Josh called me to say one of my tires was under warranty. Good price on tires but not worth getting it replaced there. Brought my van in for new tires and they could not balance it properly. Van was shaking like crazy at 55-60 mph. I brought it to them twice to fix and they were not able to fix it. I spoke to the tech and explained that it was shaking like crazy and was not doing that before tires were changed. They told me that there's something wrong mechanically with my van. I ended up bringing my van to Toyota service and they were able to fix it and balanced the tires correctly. I was greeted immediately and offered excellent service when I brought in my car to replace a tire that was punctured by a nail. They honored my warranty, which meant that I only paid $41 to replace my punctured tire. The staff explained to me that one of my tire's rim was oblong and no longer circular, which is causing the tire to wobble. They went above and beyond by adding some metal weights to my tire's rim to balance it out, saving me a trip to he mechanic and a pretty penny to replace the rim. Troy and his team are awesome! I am so grateful to them - my tyre was damaged and I couldn't visibly see a nail or a leak. Troy did a spray test and sure enough found the leak . They were so busy but he said to leave the tyre and they would repair it and replace the spare to the repaired tyre. And sure enough they worked past 8.30pm to ensure my car was ready for work the next day! They saved me $200 replacement tyre and fixed my tyre for $11 !
