I ordered tires for my car, which took 2 weeks to arrive. I am not automobile savvy and did not know that I should check for tire locks on my car. (Purchased it used and never had to replace tires before.) When I arrived there to have my new tires put on, they told me they could not find the key to my tire locks. As such, I couldn't have the new tires installed. The staff was very nice, but I think the employees should notify customers of the need to check for this. I had to find a car dealer, have the locks removed, but couldn't make a new appointment for the service at Costco. No one answered the phone. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to buying tires from this location. To say that service is slow, it an understatement. If you have an issue or warranty concern with your tires, forget it. I spent three hours with them, showing them I had regular rotations and that my tires had about 1/2 as many miles as promised in the warranty. They had them measured twice and then said, "I don't know if we can do anything until my manager gets back in over a week." Wait, the business shuts down when the manager goes on vacation. Service is terrible - they overbook so it takes 2 hours for a tire rotation, I wasn't told my car was ready until I asked about it, and then I was told to wander around the parking lot using my panic button to find where they parked my car. I only come here to avoid paying the taxes on a full set of tires. That being said, coming from another state just to save almost $100 on taxes, there must be big additional purchases to justify making the trip's gas and tolls. Plan ahead - purchase the tires online, and schedule your appointment as early as possible, ideally at opining. I made my appointment for 12PM on Sunday. I arrived half an hour early and waited in line for half an hour just to speak with an associate. They quoted me 2 hours and it was 2 hours. I've been here twice and the staff is friendly enough. They do seem a bit overworked as I imagine people from neighboring states come here to avoid taxes. There are a lot of tires shipped here and in stock, so it might take the staff sometime to find your tires. After I received a call that my car was ready, I jumped back in line. If it was like my arrival, I would have had to wait another half hour. I asked the cashier if I could just skip the line and pick up my car (this would less than a minute), but the staff said no. That's fair enough. Less than 5 minutes later, another staff member comes to the register and asks "anyone here to pickup?" allowing me to once successfully skip the line and be on my way. Having a flat tire and relying on a donut while you await for the best time and day that you can stop into the shop to get a service is never a good feeling. Luckily Costco Tire Center was able to receive my 4 tires shipment two days before I was going to do a walk in to get them replaced. Without an appointment can be a gamble so we stopped in at 10am to make sure that we would be accommodated for the day. They were open until 8pm and with my day off, I was completely content with waiting the whole day for the car to get service as long as it did. Many others were thinking the same thing as there was already a line forming at the door of the Tire Center. We were there around 9:30am and no one was there but around 9:45am people started to head toward the door. Luckily I have a good friend and Costco member that waited in line after getting gas. Once the door swing open, the two staff members had their hands full with some older customers who had an appointment and others that were checking to see if their tire order had come in for service. The system seemed pretty easy. You check in with your time and your Costco card and they ask that you put a red or green queue marker on top of your car. It makes sense that they ask you to mark your own car as they were super busy from the get go. Whether instructions was not clear or coffee had not made its way through the morning but Costco customers were struggling with those simple instructions. With lucky number 1 being up for grabs, I couldn't help make a comment that I'd be willing to take that spot if patrons were not going to mark their cars for the mechanics to grab their vehicles and get them serviced. Meanwhile another patron was notified that their one tire was there for pickup and service. After the Tire Center staff walked the many rows countless times, it was time to cut their loss and move on to the slowly snaking line out the door, with my party being next. I had my order pulled up on my phone, Costco card in hand and was ready to take even luckier number 3 green marker for walk in to put on my Honda Accord and get her serviced with four fresh Firestone tires that had a discount of $150 off the labor and parts. Costco members were getting impatient which I can understand why, to help them and everyone else in line have your order ready as taking someone's word at the shop is just poor customer interaction. With the digital world that we have, having written proof is in the pudding. The Center workers did let those that made appointments pass the walk in traffic to check in. I can't fault those that are prepared. the auto shop was ready for cars to come rolling in and a few members got that lucky red number 2 and 3 for their appointments. My car was in and out of the shop around noon, against many of the reviews here Costco Tire Center took care of my Honda quickly and efficiently. The 25 mile torque check in was quick and easy too. They even gave me an updated mileage sticker for my next service because the mechanic that serviced it seem to subtracted miles instead of adding them for my next service. Small error but I'll be back for other service for my car but I'll be sure to make an appointment! read more

If there were zero stars to give, this would be the place. Second time we've been here to be turned away after a 2 hour wait. First time they said they couldn't install tires on my Mercedes. Second time, they wouldn't rotate my tires. And both times we called to make sure they did our specific tires and both times we had an appointment!!! Worst place!!! read more

Several years ago I purchased a set of tires for myself and it was a positive experience - cost effective and free rotations. This week I had a horrible experience working with the Tire Center at the Mt. Laurel, NJ location. I love Costco, that's why I am genuinely shocked at how substandard the customer experience was. I had to call 3 different times just to get someone to answer the phone. They told me they had the tires we needed at the Mt. Laurel location but I had to order and pay for them online. I was told they would receive the fax in about an hour confirming I purchased the tires and someone would call me back that day to schedule an appointment. Well I didn't receive a call that day. The next day I called, no one answered the phone. Two days later, once again, I had to call 3 separate times before someone answered the call. They told me to come in at 4:00 pm. When I asked how long it would take when we dropped the car off I was told around an hour and 15 minutes by a very rude staff person that worked there. So we drive back home. The car was ready in 20 minutes and we drove back to pick it up. We could have just waited. Really Costco? This is a poor reflection on Costco for not training staff properly or having enough staff to answer phones. read more

The Christiana center has an excellent set of long term employees. Danny has been taking care of my tire needs for years. They are always busy with walk-ins and he is great at multi-tasking with several customers at a time. My suggestion is to call ahead if you're going to walk-in and see what times are best, otherwise schedule an appointment online. I purchased a new set of tires from Costco Glen Burnie, MD on Feb 8 for a scheduled 4 hour trip to mountains for Feb 13. On the morning of my trip, the tire low pressure indicator light came on. The tire pressure of the driver side was, indeed, low. I topped off the air and started my trip. Half way through my trip, the indicator light came on again. I made a detour to Costco Christiana. After about 2 hours, the mechanic in the Tire Center said it the stem and that the tire pressure sensor was bad. I agreed for the to replace the stem and sensor. About another hour, I was finally on my way to complete my trip. After about another hour, the indicator light came back on. I checked the tires and they all were inflated to proper levels, but the light would not be go out. On the return trip, I stopped at Costco Christiana and explained the situation. The same mechanic said they don't have the recalibration tool. First... why did they sell a pressure sensor knowing they did not have the proper tool? Second, after returning home, I researched the problem and discovered that the Toyota cars have a tire sensor reset switch located around the glove box. I reset it myself. WHY do we pay exorbitant prices for substandard work. (For something I googled to find the simple resolution.) I question whether I needed a new sensor in the first place. I see now why the warranty for service and materials are included in the price. Buyer beware!!!! read more

I just had 4 brand new tires installed today, Mar.5th,2020. Worst place full of shit !! What I don't like about it is: First, they asked me to change all my lug nuts saying one was broken and one got swollen and can't fit 21mm socket. The lug nut that was broken was not from my car and the one that didn't fit 21mm socket was also not from my car !!!!!! I've had these lug nuts since I bought the car and I just did tire rotation a few days ago myself. The lug nuts were fine. Anyway they still changed 6 lug nuts and charged me $10.80. Second, I paid service packs for all 4 tires and only 3 were changed and the one I wanted to change the most wasn't changed. Next time I'll go to Toyota dealer for sure ! Great prices and reliably horrible customer service. We buy tires for all of our vehicles here and get the r & b'd but the service is the worst! It's hard not to notice that there are always 3 times as many guys in Costco Tire outfits loitering around the main store than there EVER are working. The lack of organization, extreme rudeness of counter workers and usually long, pissed off lines in the Tire Center make it an unpalatable but necessary experience. I would probably have given them 1 star instead of 2 but the glorious and efficient main store counts for extra. P.S. to Costco: We've been complaining for years about the same nasty caveman running the desk and he's still there. I ordered the tires on line and set up an appointment. The time it took to install my new tires was appropriate (1hour). When I returned home and washed my tires and wheels I saw that they had damaged one of my wheels and strategically placed this wheel on the drivers side rear of the vehicle. I didn't notice the damage at first because of the excessive amount of tire lube that was smeared on all of my wheels - wheels I thoroughly cleaned that same morning. I reviewed the warranty card DOT numbers they had listed and they were wrong! I have had multiple sets of tires installed at other Costco Tire locations with no issues at all! read more

I had an outstanding experience when I got my tires installed. They even upgraded my tires because they didn't think the ones I bought were high enough quality. This place is HORRIBLE with service. Very inconsiderate to customers' time/schedules, no follow through. I ordered (and paid for tires in advance) which they did not have in stock at the time one week ago. They said they were supposed to call me when the tires came in. I called a couple days before my scheduled appointment for installation and was told the tires were not in. I called again the day before my appointment, and ON the day of my scheduled installation... Still not in. Yet no one bothered to give me a heads up. The associate said he would call me back in 15 minutes to 'look into my order' - no such call. I called Costco up again and asked them to be truthful on whether they actually ordered my tires. The guy said there was no tracking number in the system. He said he could put the order through but be at the mercy of BFGoodrich's delivery schedule. Needless to say, I cancelled my order. I now have to go back with my receipt to get a refund. read more

The only good thing about Costco Tire Center at Christiana Mall in Newark is price. Everything else is pathetic. After buying tires in advance and being notified they were in I took my truck to have them installed. It took 2 hours, they didn't put the stick-on weights on the inside as I specifically requested and they failed to reset the tire monitoring system even though it clearly states on the wall on their list of services that it's part of the package. I just bought some tires. I looked up the prices in advances online so I know the prices and my options. I went in, this short white guy puts in my car details, and then tells me it's going to be $600. I then asked what are the different tires available, he was super annoyed, how dare I ask what I'm buying. And then he gave me a price for a michelin, not on paper, just told me how much it costs. Then, this guy disappeared, he reappeared 5 minutes later, and then told me to sign something and pay. So i naturally said "how much?" At this point he looked at me, and said "I already quoted you the price 3 times!" There's no itemized bill telling me what the different prices are. So i explained I just want to know what the price covers, because the price of the tires are lower online, and he called his manager over. This whole time, he's like walking around like he needs to use the bathroom. or on something.... All they had to do was tell me the price, give me an itemized receipt showing installation or tire disposal fees or just explain this to me in 2 seconds. I'm not coming back here, and probably should not have used them this time either after this episode. I find it difficult to fathom how someone so bad at customer service or just basic human communication/decency can continue to work at Costco. This place is terrible. I had my tire pressure sensors changed and they were not compatible with my car. Each time I took it in, they would tell me to drive it another 50 miles and still the tire pressure lights would continue to light up. I got into an accident because the tire blew out on me. This is considered fraud. It makes me think were the tire pressure sensors broken in the first place. read more

The Costco Tire center has the region's best prices on name brand tires. As a result the demand is high and the wait times can run several hours. And there is not much to do within a reasonable walk. Best bet, arrive in two cars and go to a movie or to the mall proper while your tires are being mounted. Don't use the center for oil changes, fixing a flat, etc. read more
