When the receptionist brought it up, I asked if it cost extra; she said yes, and then told her I wasn't interested. You'd think it would end there. After Dr. Breeden finished the main portion of the exam, she made it a point to get up, close the door, and lecture me about the importance of dilation, imploring scare tactics, and comparing it to having vitals checked. This was just insulting. It's my health, and it's my money, and I have the right to opt out. I'd like to think that professionals could take a hint that money is clearly an issue for me without me having to say HEY, I'M FUCKING BROKE, I'M JUST HERE TO GET A PRESCRIPTION SO I CAN BUY CONTACT LENSES. The icing on the cake was not being given (or emailed) my new prescription at the end of the visit. After I emailed them asking for it, there was another little passive aggressive cherry on top -- part of my prescription was left blank, and I had to dig up my old prescription to find the number (the BC, or base curve, which is either 8.4 or 8.8 when ordering contacts online). Their justification is that it's too close to my expiration date 04/20/2026. My benefits renewed 04/01/2026. My contact prescription is still current and valid. I have called this office twice and they refuse to order additional contacts unless I get an eye exam. What is the purpose of having any renewal or expiration dates when they seem to think I can be bullied into doing what they want. I have looked into this, and I cannot find any law or ordinance to back this up. I did make a report to the Better Business Bureau.

However, it is always the crisis that shows the true character of a person or business, and this was true for me. I awoke with changes in vision that were concerning enough that I called them to ask if my upcoming medical eye exam should be moved forward or if I ought to be concerned. I was asked to come in for an immediate exam in 2 hours. This is the busy time of year for Foster vision, with everyone trying to use their insurance before the year runs out, but they got me in and tested my eyes in ways I had never experienced before. They fit me in, amongst all the hustle and bustle, because it was an emergency. And, when they were concerned about the results, they called an eye surgeon for me and I had an appointment there on Tuesday. In other words, they took a medical concern seriously, made space for me in a day crowded with others, advocated for me with another provider, and generally made sure I was okay. And, in the end, that is what I want from Foster Vision. When it really counted, 5 stars.

He also spent an extra 5 minutes at the end of my appointment explaining how my insurance covers contacts vs. glasses and what the pricing difference would be. I initially planned on getting contacts, but he walked me through the EXACT cost for the lenses I would need without insurance coverage (almost $1000) AND told me how I can find cheaper contact prices to pay for out of pocket. Also, Kevin in the front office is an absolute delight! He helped me find good frames and provided very helpful and honest feedback in a professional manner while looking for a frame that would fit my face well. They provide reminder texts before appointments, are open on Saturdays, and are so incredibly kind and professional! Will never go to a different optometry office again!

A proper fitting glasses is an important as proper lenses... The place is welcoming and friendly. The inside is  well decorated. The business is run by the two owners which means that they care. The doctor took his time and went the extra mile to confirm his diagnosis. They have a good selection of eye wear including high end selection. They even mocked up the bifocal glasses with take to make sure that I am comfortable. They have all the fancy equipment including a machine that measures the fit by wearing a fancy thing and taking a digital picture of the face. They also don't use high pressure tactics to sell you frames. There's a private parking lot, so don't worry about door dings. Come here...

My Wife also needed her prescription checked but she also needed to try out some contact lenses. The staff here is amazing. Very friendly and helpful. We were able to pay for my Wife's Trial Contact Lenses contactless. Awesome. Less than a week later, My Wife's Contacts came in and she was able to make an appointment for the next day to check them out. The Dr was super friendly and made my Wife feel at ease. She even mentioned possibly putting in a application. I'm glad we found a great optometrist so close to my home. My Wife couldn't be happier.
