Love this Costco branch. The Gaithersburg one is one big madhouse from the moment you try to find parking to when you check out. Not sure if it is because of the customers there, or because it is in a more populated area, or because the staff is inefficient, etc. The Frederick branch is actually a pleasure to shop in and shopping is a breeze. Always a parking space readily available, not too crowded inside, pretty short checkout lines, and everyone is really friendly and courteous there (but I've noticed that about Frederick people in general). Costco does seem to differ between Sam's Club in the sense that Sam's Club seems more geared towards small business owners. read more

Aaahhh, Costco. Their pizza is pretty good, for the location. And the slices are huge! They only have three varieties (cheese, pepperoni or supreme) but I believe they all cost the same. And it's nice that they keep them in the front window so you can make your choice based on what looks freshest. And if you really like it, you can order whole pies to go or buy them fresh made from the deli department. But beware, they are very big, so you may have to cut it in half just to bake it in your home oven. Hot dogs are also quite large, and they will give you free onions or sauerkraut for on top. When we go to shop at Costco, we always eat first. It's a cheap lunch, and if that doesn't fill you up, the free samples throughout the store will. They have other menu items, but we usually stick with pizza or hot dogs. Although their berry ice cream is good. Also a huge portion, so good for sharing. Overall, it's a clean store. Except for the food court tables. Be prepared to wipe down your own. Food court staff can sometimes be grumpy, but can you blame them? read more

I LOVE Costco and shop at the warehouses all over the country. However, this is my home base Costco. I have been shopping here for 10 years. I would have given it 5 stars but the customer service has been slipping recently. The optical department is one of the prime examples. Unless you are a friend of one of the ladies that work there be prepared to wait. I waited over 15 minutes on my last visit to be "seen" by one of the ladies at the counter. She was waiting on another customer and ignored the other 3 guests needing service. She chatted with her friend for about 10 minutes after the sale. When it came to my turn, she waited on all 3 customers at the same time. With the 15 minute wait for service, I spent almost 40 minutes trying to pick up a pair of glasses. read more

Everyone is friendly and prices are great! Best Costco I've been to and it's never a bad experience (Gaithersburg is the total opposite). Best Costco ever! They've got everything you could pssibly want (fuel, food at the food court, groceries, outdoor/home gear, and clothing). The layout is good and spacious. Usually not too crowded which is a bonus because nobody wants to play bumper carts when stocking up on supplies. Would recommend this location. I usually have a wonderful experience each visit prior to today when I ran into a very rude and prejudice Ms. Laura at the Customer Service Center. How do I know she is prejudice; well, we never even got to speak with her before she ignored and denied my mother (a veteran, who was wounded serving our country as LEO) any form of customer service. There were only three of us in the line at the time and she purposely refused to acknowledge us after everyone in front of us had been served. Ms. Sam was assisting the gentlemen, who was directly in front of my mother. Another woman decided at 1:52pm she was off at 2:00pm and left us standing there to be waited on by Laura. Laura looks my mother and I up and down then shouts, "whose next?!" With my mother and I directly in front of her. We not only answered her, but placed our hands in the air. She approaches another gentleman, who arrived ten minutes ago and began to take several customers that weren't even in the Costco's when we entered the line let alone was being assisted by an individual that abruptly left because her shift was over soon. Ms. Sam called for Ms. Chrissy, who did give us exceptional customer service and had to deal with the attitude of Ms. Laura when she needed some assistance in renewing our executive membership. I also applaud the exceptional and outstanding customer service I receive from Mr. Kofee, Ms. Patricia, Mr. Dirk, Ms. Sam, Mr. Michael, & Ms. Chrissy. However, today was the last day I will deal with the attitude and ignorance of Ms. Laura. This was just a simple renewal. read more

My favorite place to fill up on gas because I am a member. This place is convenient and close to a lot highways.

This is my favorite store! The quality is top notch. We try to buy all of our groceries here, never disappointed in the freshness. Kids pajamas are awesome and the winter boots are a hit every year. The store is clean and organized. The cashiers are fast and friendly. I had tires put on my car and it was easy and pain free. I shopped while they took care of my car. The gas station is convenient and the gas pumps fast. Love, love, love Costco in Frederick! read more

I have very rarely written reviews online and decided to this evening because of excellent customer service earlier today at this Costco. I have been been going here for five years or so and like the store but tonight cemented me as a forever customer. Costco recently went through a credit card company transition from Amex to a citi Visa, and somewhere in the transfer my account ran into some issues. This was no fault to the local store, and likely not to Costco at all. I believe the actual problem belonged to American Express, but Costco customer service at my local store in Frederick went above and beyond to resolve it. I wish I had gotten the guy's name but did not....thank you for a job well done. I went in planning to mention the issue to them and be told to call American Express back, but they took care of it right in the store. Thanks again. read more

better than other crazy locations, though the wireless kiosk is not for those who want to switch to another carrier and they tell some wrong information, probably confused, for instance verizon rebates you up to $650 for switching , early etf is $350. So girl tells me its only $350 not the $650...She was wrong but ok, I will switch elsewhere. Costco cell program isn't much, just some cheap crappy accessories that break. Otherwise this location has same as anyother and much less crowded. read more

I visited Gaithersburg MD Costco on Friday, July 5th,2013; being waited a long time for 4 items; checkout counter and manager won't accept my gift card, told me "you must have our membership card"; I've never had any problem using the same gift card at California locations; she lectured me about not a member at least 4 times. She told me she believed that I've always using gift card to avoid membership fee which was not true; this card was my 2nd time using the gift card for last 20 years. The # 3 counter casher started to check other people out; just left my cart behind and totally ignored me; I talked to manager again, she told the cashier how to do it with gift card; but the cashier told me "you have no money in the gift card"; they wiped out my gift card by mistake so the balance was zero and laughed about it in front of all other customers. They called me "you should call your bank...". I left with nothing I plan to purchase and called Costco card services; he told me my last transaction was at the Gaithersburg Costco location for $19.97, that was exactly the remaining balance of my card. After that transaction the card balance was zero. I called customer service; addressed my concerns and confirmed that the gift card users does not need to be a Costco member. I went back and talked to manage and cashier again, they never apologized; still told me "you must be a member to use the gift card"; she even told me it is impossible that my card will wiped clean by them. I've never been humiliated and insulted like today at Costco; I will have to write many reviews about this incident because I was so hurt, I am an old age Asian woman; I hope I was not getting discriminated by the Costco employees read more

I recently purchased the Strawberry Rhubarb Mini Pie 4 count. The flavor was good, but after eating 1/2 a piece of this pie, I found myself experiencing indigestion. The ONLY food product (in 50 years) that has ever caused me to have indigestion is the seeds in cucumbers. After reading the complete list of ingredients, I cannot determine what is causing this, but I will not be purchasing this product again. read more

It's Costco! How can you go wrong?! I love walking into the one on Frederick and looking at the new models of TV's and they finally have the curved TV's, plus they are somewhat cheaper than the one's found elsewhere. Also, if you have a question there is always somebody around. If that person doesn't know the answer, they will go find out for you and come back to you with the answer. Prices are really no different than any other Costco. It's nice to get the laundry detergent, soap in bulk than at the grocery store. Plus it saves you some money buying bulk than having to put wear and tare on your car to the grocery store! Good job Frederick Costco! read more

I've been to other Costco's across the country but this is my home store. I love it because the staff is always friendly and helpful. The prices are very good and it's the cheapest lunch in town! The food is very good and even if the line is long it moves quickly and worth the wait. They are usually busy but there's always a parking place. I do wish they would take credit cards, but otherwise I'm proud to be a member of Costco. read more

I have been a member at Costco for almost 4 years now and I shop regularly at the Frederick location. Everyone is very pleasant and helpful. The store is always well stocked and changes their merchandise enough to make you want to hit every aisle. The Tire Center, Pharmacy, and Customer Service desk are all top notch. I have never had a bad experience there and I am there one to two times weekly. The best thing that I can say about Costco is that no matter how crowded the store is, they move people through the check out lines quickly. I am always amazed at that! read more

You can usually expect quick lines, friendly staff, and organized warehouse. The on-site gas station attracts large crowds, but are typically $.20 to $.30 lower than your retail gas stations. As others have mentioned, this is a much more peaceful location to shop than its Gaithersburg counterpart. read more

5 stars for the store, deducting one star for tire service. I'm fairly new to Costco, joined a few years ago for 50lb bags of sugar to feed my bee colonies. If all I bought here was sugar for the bees (on years when the hives are light going into winter) and cat litter, it would be worth the membership fee, but they also stock a fair bit of organic and ethnic-type products that I just can't find elsewhere. I started off with the regular membership but recently upgraded to Executive, to get the 2% back. Staff is always friendly and helpful, much more so versus employees at Target and other stores. You can tell that employees are treated well. The store overall is so well run that I'm shocked by how bad tire service is. You order tires online and the store is supposed to call you when they get the tires in, but they never called me. I received shipping information with my online order, so one week after the tires had been received at this store, I called. The person I spoke to said he would look for my tires and call me right back. He never did. Called the next day, was told that my tires might not have been "checked in" yet, even though they had been received. Had to press this person to investigate whether or not my tires had been checked in (he said he'd call me back but I didn't believe him). Finally was told that yes, they had been checked in. As far as getting them put on my car? The soonest appointment they had was one month out. Otherwise I could just show up at the store. I asked what type of wait I would have, but the employee said I'd just have to show up. First come, first serve. I went to the store the next day and while waiting in line, heard employees telling customers over the phone that it was always a minimum 4 hour wait to get tires installed. This area is kind of a zoo with frustrated customers and frazzled employees. When I was finally checked in, the employee had to find my information on a clipboard where everything had been hand written. That's right, hand written. And I saw why I never got a phone call, because someone had written my phone number down incorrectly. When I was checked in, the employee used a highlighter to mark up some information on the clipboard, and it was just unbelievable how inefficient the whole process was. Surely it would be more orderly to download the information electronically, and to allow customers to schedule appointments? Anyway, the employee I dealt with here was kind of grouchy and mean, kept cleaning his ear out with a pen, snapped at a few customers. Definitely the worst Costco employee I've ever encountered. While I was in the tire center, I did overhear a more helpful employee talking to an exasperated customer who balked at the idea of leaving his car for 4-5 hours. The employee told the customer to check in right then, but he could take his car and just return to drop off his car 2-3 hours later. When you check in you're given a number to put on the roof of your car, and you park it in the area outside the service center. So if you check in at noon, you really don't need to park your car outside the garage until sometime after 2pm. This is a helpful tip that I'll use if I decide to get tires again at Costco. read more

I go there often and rarely do I have to stand in line for more than a few minutes. The staff is efficient and very friendly. Their produce is always fresh and it love that I can make a quick trip for a few grocery items. I have the executive membership which I think is worth it to have. I get money back on all of my purchases and I am able to get the Amex which allows you to get more money back, even on things outside of Costco. I have yet to use their gas or auto services so I cannot comment on that. There are a few popular items that I like to use that they don't have, so that is why I am giving 4 vs 5 stars. read more

I had taken my car to a neighborhood garage for an oil change. They called and told me I should replace the brakes and my tires were worn to the point where they should be replaced too. I went ahead and had them do the brakes, but opted not to do the tires. When I picked up my car and got it home I checked the tires using the "Lincoln's head on the penny routine" and sure enough I needed new tires, if not then soon. Rummaging around in the glove compartment I found the paperwork from Costco for my tires and discovered I should have about 20,000 miles left under the warranty. I was a little hesitant, I'd been pretty good about rotating and inflating, but had little evidence to prove it, but opted to go to their tire shop and see what they could do for me. The guy at the desk went out and checked all 4 tires and said they were definitely worn and should be replaced. I showed him my paperwork and he said" no problem". He calculated my rebate, gave me the full credit towards the purchase of a new set of tires. No hassle, no argument, just a complete willingness to do the right thing. I'll never buy tires at any place but Costco. read more

Costco in Frederick has always been great in ALL respects. Never saw any "sucky" customers - all have been friendly. Parking is much better than in Gaithersburg (nightmare!); checkout is much easier - warehouse is cleaner, aisles are wider. I have some meat to return - so let's see how Customer Service handles it. I paid $15 for a package that included fix a flat free (two years ago) when I bought tires. Today I had to wait 20 min. just to sign in to get a flat fixed. I waited another 3 1/2 hours for them to "fix" my flat. Even though the service man said "it was just a hole", I was told it wouldn't be 'safe' to fix the flat so I would have to buy a replacement tire (prorated). It was another 1/2 hour until they found they didn't have and couldn't get a tire to match my Michelins that I bought there. So after 4 1/2 hours the fix a flat free wasn't free. I complained to the store manager that I had this same problem when I had tires balanced three years ago and was promised it would never happen again, that they would hire more people and put in more bays. He was irratated that I complained and said there was nothing he could do. The slightly lower price on the tires is not worth their inability and failure to keep the warranty package in a reasonable amount of time. While I waited I bought a soda and sat at the food area. There was a puddle on the floor in front of the napkins that stayed there while three employees walked around it and a supervisor brought an applicant into the area and interviewed him. Another emplyee came in and visited with some shoppers. It was still there an hour later. I shopped around for about an hour and saw three pairs of workers leaning against something, talking to each other. read more
