I chose to shop at Costco Wholesale specifically because of their well-known satisfaction guarantee and return policy. Unfortunately, my experience at the new Riverbank warehouse completely contradicted what the company publicly promises. This was my first time ever returning jewelry -- a wedding ring -- and it was not a casual decision. Keeping the ring is emotionally difficult for personal reasons. Before coming in, I carefully reviewed Costco's return policy on their website and even printed it to ensure I was within their guidelines. I brought the ring in perfect condition, along with the original receipt and certification. Cesar, the employee who initially assisted me, was professional, compassionate, and began processing the return without issue. Based on the written policy and the interaction in store, there was no indication that my return was outside of guidelines. After I left, I received a call from the return manager, Cazandra, denying the return solely because "there was nothing wrong with the ring." That reasoning directly contradicts Costco's stated satisfaction guarantee. The policy does not state that an item must be defective to be returned -- it states that satisfaction is guaranteed. If a member is dissatisfied for any reason, the policy should apply consistently. Denying a return simply because the item is in perfect condition undermines the very wording of the guarantee. I was then required to return to the warehouse the next day to pick up the ring. When I brought a printed copy of the policy to discuss the inconsistency, I was met with resistance and an unprofessional attitude rather than a clear explanation of any written exception from Cazandra. The interaction lacked professionalism, empathy, and basic customer service. What was most concerning was that another return manager I spoke with did not understand why the return had been denied in the first place. That inconsistency suggests either a misunderstanding of company policy or selective enforcement. Costco's reputation is built on trust and standing behind its word. If policies are going to be applied differently than written, that should be clearly communicated to members. Otherwise, the satisfaction guarantee becomes misleading. This experience was disappointing, confusing, and completely avoidable. This would have been a 5 star experience if Sebastian and Cesar were the only ones assisting me through this process; unfortunately, Cazandra made it the worst experience I've ever had! read more

We love Costco, we get everything here and I mean everything, from clothes to our kitchen appliances and everything in between. Yup we are Costco people. The new riverbank store's staff are very helpful and recently I got my car tires here and those guys were efficient and fast. I get gas here at their huge station and I love the straw berry yogurt and the $1.50 hot dog and soda. Their fish is very fresh and I get tilapia for less than $20 dollars which I fry up and wife makes beans and rice from yes... our 50lb bag of beans and 20 Lb bag of rice made on the pots and cooked on the stove we bought at Costco. In pics you see a surprisingly affordable choice brisket which I smoked for 16 hours on the Webber that I got at Costco years ago with....yes the pro charcoal brickets they sell which are awesome. The flour for my sourdough and the Dutch ovens that I use to bake them in are also Costco bought....... I can go on and on.... We get everything here...... read more

Visted this location a few Saturdays ago. Got to the front to check out very use to being confronted by those employees trying to upgrade our membership. Also, one was scanning items to facilitate the line to move quickly that was helpful. But the one thing that wasn't pleasant was a young man walking around with 1 package of cookies trying to upscale. Kept talking to us about how the niners would win if we bought them. As our line moved he moved with us. Very president I saw someone's cart had grapes and I asked him id rather have a pack of those instead. Could you get me one of those? He said no he can't he had bad knees. Like huh? What is your job actually sir? It couldn't just be going around to try and sell 1 package of cookies? If a customer would like another item why couldn't he be helpful and get it for them? What was the point of him being up there? read more

The value is good but the lines are long today, you would think it's Black Friday- they have new item on the food menu. But the line is long on that also. Service is better they are pre scanning to get thru the line quicker! In the clothes dept they need to get 3x clothes for woman for us plus size women. read more

I have gone here only 3 times and the other two times were pretty good. The last time (today) was where I might consider never coming back. So many rude employees. The only one who was great was the cashier. The manager and other employees couldn't care less if we were helped with the merchandise pick up. Then going out to my car I was struggling with some items and two employees walked by without even asking if I needed help. They were more concerned with the carts and the. The reason I disapprove of this specific Costco, is because the people that hang out the samples look at you like you are a beggar industry. They make me feel so uncomfortable when you walked up and you wanted to try something that they are cooking or warming up. They are so rude that if the food is not done yet, they will say it's not time. Can you come back like we're cooking food off of their tables and out of the mouths of their children. They are there working for samples so that we can possibly buy them if we like them. But when they are rude and trying to make you feel embarrassed for asking for a sample Then you want to walk away and not go back. I go to Turlock. Maybe they should be a trend read more

The night before Thanksgiving, 2025, I bought $200 worth of groceries and I bought a $50 gift certificate using a different credit card. When I got to my car, I hopped inside to put the gift card inside the thank you card I had prepared, so I wouldn't misplace it. I sat there and texted for awhile and wondered if I should use the restroom before I headed home to Sonora, which is a little over an hour away. When two cars in front of me pulled out, I took the opportunity and drove forward towards home. I decided to wait and unload the groceries in the morning when I was rested. I watched a little TV, and decided to go out and get the bag of nuts I'd purchased to snack on. You guessed it...there were no groceries in the car! I'd spaced out and drove away leaving my unloaded cart in the Riverbank Costco parking lot! I never even thought about calling Costco until later. They said their cart guys log in items found in the carts and said I should call back Friday when they reopened. When I called back, they said nothing had been turned in, but a stand-out worker named Marcos asked me about where I was parked and their LP guy would go through the videos. I didn't expect anything to be done. It was clearly my fault Carlos pursued the matter though and I went down today to talk with him. Unfortunately, he was called away on personal business, but referred me to Elizabeth, his manager. Elizabeth asked me a few questions and then asked if I would like to shop to replace the items or she could have one of her workers do it. We decided to go with the later as it was faster. Elizabeth said she would then walk me through the front door! When the great worker who pulled my order ( I wish I could remember his name) came back with my order. Elizabeth said she would now walk me out, I had to force myself from crying! What a team and what a caring policy. That's not the end of the story though, their LP (loss prevention) guy reviewed the videos from that night and saw another customer loading my goods into their car. Through the license plate, the LP guy (wish I knew his name too) found out who the member is and Costco will be contacting them. I asked Elizabeth if she liked working with Costco. She said she loved it. She had planned to go into teaching, but went to work at Costco and liked it so much she stayed. She has been there 16 years! She says now that she is a manager, her desire to teach is also being fulfilled... I had to get out of there cuz the tears were coming again, and I'm a macho guy! I was just in your store bought 224 packs of beer tried to buy some Panini mosaic football cards when I got to the register after 10 minutes they said do not sell. I bought my beer went to another register three managers Patrick, and two other ladies said they're gonna take care of it. No one can make a professional decision and they did not sell the cards. They kept asking me if they were on the floor. I'm like no what do you think? I brought them in and tried to re-buy them of course they were on the floor. I went to the grand opening last year. There were good deals on fruit and speciality items in the liquor section. Good location, but it is too close to the Modesto location. Parking is expansive for now. There's still a lot of development happening in this area. There are plenty of homes being built surrounding this area. The gas station is huge and there is never a wait in line. Unfortunately, when this area gets more populated, the lines will be long because people are not very efficient when pumping. I've been to Costco gas stations where people are in and out and very efficient. Here, not so much but it's been acceptable because there are not as many people. That will be a problem in the future. People do not pull up to open spots. Many reviews say the food court line is too close to the check out. I agree. They need to do something about the food court line and face it the other way so that it doesn't block the check out line exit for self-check out. Also, I wish they would make a single line instead of multiple lines that no one knows is a line. It's just a mess and I've seen people leave because it's too confusing. When this Costco gets busier, this will be a huge problem and frustrating. This Costco does not seem to get the fun regional items like in the Bay or SoCal. It has essentials and lots of stock. Though I do see people stocking up on toilet paper and wipes on flatbeds, makes me think of those shelter in place times. The employees at this Costco do not seem experienced or trained as other locations. For example, my kids love handing the receipt at the exit because the employee always draws a smile or picture on the receipt. At this Costco, that doesn't happen. read more

We came today bought bunch of stuff. The guy pre scanned our items to save time. Only for MRS. ATTITUDE ELSA to void and ring everything up again and count. I can understand being stupid behind register but to this level, even people at the front were laughing because the receipt was doubled due to her! Anywho staff here is a hit and miss and it's very cluttered and messy! The Costco in Modesto is better, as a Costco member I can find more options. read more

New Costco Wholesale in Riverbank! Great for the neighborhoods nearby, unfortunately a bit far from the highway (not convenient for passersby). As should be for a brand new structure opened - very clean and orderly - everything looking fresh-n-new! Plenty of parking spaces! Big gas station with 4 stalls per lane. Other than that, typical Costco wholesale items, nothing different or unique compared to other Costcos with respect to the products in stock. Some of the staffs seem a bit unhappy, not enthusiastic, or unwilling to assist when I was at the food-court and in one of the aisles. For a brand new store, I was expecting to see a bunch of smiley faces from the staffs ready to greet and better assist customers, but not the case. read more

This costco pharmacy has got to be the worst costco pharmacy in the area. The clerks are very rude, unfriendly & not helpful at all.

I am so happy to have this new Costco. I have shopped here from opening day in June and have been pleased with the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff. The building is always kept extremely clean, as all Costco's are Some people have complained about it being far from the freeway, but there is the Modesto Costco that is only about 5 miles away, which is right off the 99 freeway. This location is great because people who are further inland don't have to make the trek all the way to the Modesto one. The Modesto one was crazy on the weekends, when there would always be huge masses around the free samples. It has taken some time, but this one slowly built their inventory up to the levels I was used to at Modesto. The shining star at this one though is the gas station! 32 pumps, with green/red indicators to mark which pumps are available. I have never had to wait when getting gas. It's the most efficient gas station I have been to! read more

The store is nice and this review would have been a 5 star review but the interaction when the person was checking our receipt on the way out. Spent over $500 and just left with a sour taste in my head. The guy was nice and trying to be funny. I get that and I appreciate humor. He took several jabs at me because my wife was pushing the cart on the way out. He asked if she unloaded the cart too. He asked I was her dad is what did for me. I do look aged. What he didn't know is I just spent 42 days in the hospital fighting Leukemia. I have only been home a short time and I was up for a visit to the new Costco. I have lost 46 lbs and I'm quite weak. I'm still under chemo and it was just a moment but it did bother me. This isn't a review to get someone in trouble and I will go back. I think it's an opportunity to understand that you never know what people are going through. He seemed like a nice person just took it too far. All in all, the store is nice and it was crowded. I will have to get a better flow of the store next time. read more

Has a large selection of foods and goods. Most come in large quantities. I generally find their pre cooked meals tasty, but don't recommend the stuffed bell peppers. They had very little flavor and needed lots of doctoring. read more

I enjoy this location, and it is my preferred. However the produce sucks! On multiple occasions the raspberries were moldy and the bananas go bad really fast. Today I wanted to get a package of green beans but they were so slimy and some just completely crushed down. Really disappointing, I'm not sure if all local locations are the same, but they need to start doing some quality inspections! read more

I live nearby and have shopped here several times. It's really nothing special, just a typical Costco. The produce section annoys me because they never have heads of iceberg lettuce or cucumbers. Of course you have to buy two of so many items even if you don't want two, and not always at some great low price. But the gasoline prices are lower than anywhere if you have a Costco card and the gas lines are short here compared to other Costcos I've been to, such as Modesto. The personal care/medicine/vitamin area is huge, they always have plenty of staples like milk and butter and eggs, their frozen food section is very large, and the restrooms are large and clean. The parking situation is much better than at other Costcos, such as Modesto. I avoided the Modesto store but am happy to visit the Riverbank store. read more

On two separate occasions I have made big pizza orders for pickup the next day. Both times when I went to pick them up they hadn't even started them yet and didn't really seem to care they were over 30 minutes behind on the order. The pizza line setup is such a mess. Extremely congested. No actual line and the dudes handing the pizza are way too timid. Talk about as loud as a church mouse and the entire area is extremely small. Either get a system going with an LED number system or install a megaphone to announce who's up next. We really love our local Costco--everyone who works there is always so friendly and helpful! The only downside has been at the food court. There's one woman in particular who's been very rude to us on more than one occasion. Both times we ordered, she slammed our food down and made us feel like we were bothering her just by being there. It's disappointing, because the rest of the staff is always so great. Besides this issue, Costco itself is awesome and we enjoy shopping there. read more

I've always loved Costco for one reason above all else: the $1.50 hot dog combo. That's it. I don't come for the bulk shopping, I don't come for the giant TVs--I come for the hot dog. So imagine my frustration when I walked in at 9:00, finally on my lunch break after starting my shift at 4:30 in the morning, only to be told I couldn't buy it because I wasn't an Executive Member. Are you serious? My schedule doesn't magically line up with "normal" hours, and the one thing I wanted to make my long day a little better was a hot dog and soda. Instead, I got told I wasn't allowed because I don't pay extra for Executive. The employee's solution? "You can upgrade to Executive." Really? That's your answer? Pay $60 more a year just to access a $1.50 hot dog at 9 a.m.? That's beyond ridiculous. Costco's food court has always been about value and accessibility. It's supposed to be the great equalizer--you don't need to be rich, fancy, or special to enjoy the hot dog combo. Now it feels like you're punishing hard-working people with early shifts just because we're not "premium" enough. I left hungry, annoyed, and completely turned off from a place I used to enjoy. If Costco is really willing to alienate people over something as small as a hot dog, maybe it's time to rethink where I spend my money. read more

Why can't you sell Pepsi and Coke at your food court you have two dispenser. I personally hate coke and tonight skipped the hot dog meal because I wouldn't have a drink to go with it. Also where are the chocolate muffins its been 3 months no muffins. There was a different one there tonight and wasn't good, real spongy and tasted like a diet product. My only complaint is the sushi my wife and I had a terrible experience with food poisoning over the weekend. I reported it and the person I talk to was very helpful and agreed to refund us as well as put in a report.
