Today at checkout, I had a very negative experience with an older female employee at the self-checkout area. She immediately approached and began scanning my belongings without asking, and in the process was pushing my son's stroller. My son is on the Spectrum, and during this interaction she made an inappropriate and hurtful comment, saying, "Is this thing yours?" referring to my Son . I found this extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I left feeling judged and uncomfortable by the way I was treated. I never thought the day would come when I'd say this, but Costco seriously needs to get on Sam's Club's level. Pros (and these deserve credit): 1. Car Wash & Attendant - 5/5 The attendant (a white gentleman with a beard--sorry I didn't catch your name) was extremely thorough and professional. He took the time to make sure my car wouldn't have any issues going through the wash, and I genuinely appreciated how seriously he takes his job. 2. Gas Station Pumps - 5/5 Every gas station should have the red and green lights showing which pumps are available. This makes the process fast and efficient. 3. Sample Staff - 5/5 Very friendly and knowledgeable. They explained the products clearly and told me exactly where to find them in the store. Cons (and unfortunately, this is everything else): The Costco app is terrible. It serves almost no purpose in 2026. Compared to Sam's Club, it's wildly outdated. No food court ordering through the app No Scan & Go No digital member ID to enter the store No in-app fuel purchase with QR code scanning At Sam's Club, I scan items, pay in the app, show my phone at the exit, and leave. At Costco, I'm digging through my purse for a physical card like it's 2015. Exit receipt checks are inefficient. Standing in line while someone scans every single item in a cart with 100+ items is a huge waste of time. There has to be a better system--automated exit scanning exists, and Costco should invest in it. The Food Court - 0/5 (Absolutely unacceptable) This was my first time at the Victorville location, and I only wanted one whole pepperoni pizza. I was told at checkout to scan for the pizza and pick it up at the food court. Sounds simple--except the food court is a complete mess. The "WHOLE PIZZA PICKUP ONLY" sign is meaningless That line is fulfilling ice cream, hot dogs, and other orders There is zero organization The back area was chaotic the entire time I stood there It took an entire hour to receive ONE pepperoni pizza. Let me be clear: In less time than it took to get that pizza, I: Got gas Got a car wash Grocery shopped Paid Waited in the long exit line Loaded my car Walked back to the food court That is completely unacceptable. Sam's Club has a heated pizza holding cabinet where customers grab their pizza by order number and go. Costco should copy that system immediately. There is no reason customers should be standing in line waiting for pizzas to be cooked, cut, and boxed. When I brought the excessive wait time to the attention of the employee making pizzas, it was dismissed without concern. Final Thoughts This experience genuinely made my Costco membership feel like a waste of money. I was embarrassed by how poorly streamlined everything was--especially compared to Sam's Club. I have a love/hate relationship with Costco. Since this location is the only store within like 100 miles its ALWAYS busy! I love the Roasted Chicken and the great deals on Eggs and Paper Towels. The one thing that irritates me is the Pizza. They never cut a whole pie all the way through. It's not that hard, people. Wanted a hotdog and decided to drop by. Wow it was crazy busy! Might due to a Saturday afternoon, which I normally don't do at any Costco, but this one seemed more crowded than other ones I've been to at this time. Also maybe location? I dont know how far the next Costco is. Gas station was nuts too from what I saw. I will say that after about an hour the crowd went down. The Costco hotdog was a winner. Like most Costcos, I enjoy: + the many sample stations, + various shopping options + quick & easy access to restrooms & ice water. + Unique thing I liked here separate from other membership-based warehouse clubs is that it's easy to find parking. Like all clubs, the parking here was ample and crowded, yet I was always able to find a spot relatively close to the entrance. - Obvious downside of membership-based warehouse clubs including this one is that almost everything is sold in bulk, including the ice bags. They only have one size: 24lb for $3.39. I was on a long haul trip with only a medium-sized ice box, so I was only able to use like 10% of the ice cubes in that ice bag from Costco. Maybe shoulda just grabbed a smaller one from a convenience store. read more

I love our Costco! It's so convenient having early bird shopping hours for Executive members -- it makes a big difference when trying to beat the crowds. We were at the self check out lane and the lady who pre-scans the items weren't able to scan the meat. So my husband tried to put it on the scanner to scan but a different lady (Kristie) just rudely stopped my husband acting like we didn't know what we were doing and tried to scan the mean with the portable scanner (same one the other lady tried to use but didn't work). Aside from not having enough organic, this location is the absolute worst when it comes to lines. And, I've been to many in state and on the road. They seriously need to hire a "Line Monitor" of sorts. Eight years here in the high desert and it just keeps getting worse. I don't mind waiting in line, but what is the point when disrespectful customers just walk in from all angles and get in line sooner? Of course, some standing in line before me can WAKE UP to the fact that not everyone has a life to waste. They stand there all nonchalant letting cart after cart roll on by. Victorville has to be the WORST location in the whole Costco franchise. This is the only location in the high desert, and is much too small for the demographic and regional population. It serves far too many customers for its size. Parking is always a nightmare, and shopping here is like playing human bumper pool. The first 4-6 aisles are almost always blocked by customers/carts in line down the center aisles waiting in line to check out. There's absolutely no flow to this store whatsoever, ands it's so easy to get trapped in an aisle, and the lines are so compacted, you can't get across. There's too much going on in the small space at the front of the store. Customer service, returns, food court lines, tire center and people trying to get past all those carts to exit the store. It's 10 pounds of potatoes in a 3 pound sack! I don't know why this location has been overlooked by corporate for as many years as this has been the situation. The self check out is cramped, lines wrap almost to the back of the store, and when you finally get to the cash registers, it is hard to get past the folks checking out in the first few machines. The cashier lanes are even worse, with no way to spread it all the customers, so carts are backed up down the center aisles. The food court lines are insane. There's no place for the carts while people are in line or eating, so it's a congested mess all the time. Sam's Club just announced they're coming into the area, which I'm hoping will force Costco corporate to finally pay attention to this disastrous Victorville location to avoid losing business. read more

I understand different membership levels have different benefits, but I also pay for a membership and simply needed to use the bathroom. This is the last straw with this location. We will just be going down the hill to Rancho until Sam's Club opens in Hesperia. And I will be writing a letter to the corporate office. On 3/30/26 my wife wasn't feeling good but decided to go to costco anyways. It is always a hit or miss with this location but yesterday was the last straw. While at the register with Jessie O. There was nobody helping bag the groceries until Grace came. When Grace started putting everything back in the cart my wife saw that Grace was about to stack groceries on the eggs so my wife asked her not to stack anything on top of the eggs (COMMON SENSE DONT STACK ON EGGS). In which Grace responded to my wife. "Do you want to do it yourself" this is the most disrespectful thing a customer service person can say to a customer. I know this is not an isolated incident because after she left my wife's cart she started help a gentleman who ended up packing his own cart because she wouldn't listen to him either. The fact this person still has a job at Costco is amazing. When you pay $140 a year just to be able to walk inside this building you would think there would be a standard the staff should be held too but I guess not. read more

I love Costco. But prepare to spend $200-500 in one trip. If you come for one item, you will still leave with at least two things. Probably ten more items than you actually came for. It's always in clean and pristine condition. They do keeping this place clean with all the people who come here everyday. This is my happy shopping place, even when it's busy. The weekday evenings are much less chaotic, so if you're not a people or crowd person, shop the last hour. Weekends are wild so buckle up. Some of the monthly sales are too good to pass up. I purchased a food item here on Oct 31 that I wanted to return. I'm not big on returning items. But, because they tout a 100% satisfaction guarantee, I thought, what the heck, I'll go ahead and take this box of organic rice back this morning, Nov 17, because something about the taste is not right. I've purchased it several times in the past, and something was bad about this batch. So, I was told ahead of time that since my card expired on Oct 31st, the day of this purchase, just be sure and bring in my membership number. I not only brought my membership number, but I also brought my receipt. They asked for my driver license because they did not believe the receipt, membership number, and box of rice were really me. So, it got kinda' ridiculous real fast. I whipped out my license to prove it was really me, but then they decided that all that stuff was not good enough. A woman manager was called over to inform me that I had to renew my card before they would issue me a refund. This is not their policy. They offer a "100% satisfaction guarantee", which says nothing about having to renew your card to get a refund. I feel if you present your receipt within 2 weeks of a purchase, that should be sufficient to obtain a refund. Perhaps they did not know how to issue my refund under these circumstances, and were just trying to get rid of me. They succeeded in getting rid of me, alright. I now have to resort to filing a claim on my credit card for the purchase amount. So, they do not live up to their, "100% satisfaction guarantee". My membership was valid at time of purchase, and that's all they require, but I was glad to just get out of the overcrowded store. The two store employees I dealt with engaged in contract coercion by trying to force me to purchase another year's membership in order to obtain a refund. I feel this is a violation of consumer protection law and falls under unfair or deceptive business practices. I no longer have any trust in this organization. I had been contemplating whether or not I should renew the membership because the lines are so sickening, but they have now made up my mind for me. Previous to this issue, I found I would avoid going there because of the crowds. I also had a lot of trouble at the food court, I made a total of 4 trips there throughout the course of 4 weeks to get the chocolate ice cream, and after waiting in the lines, they would either tell me the machine was down, or they ran out. Finally, the last time I tried to get chocolate soft serve, the lady told me they would not be offering chocolate anymore, that they would only have vanilla from now on. Well, I can get vanilla at many other places, so given the customer service I experienced this morning, and the terrible lines, I can't really find a reason to spend money here anymore. I can't even get a pizza here, because the line waiting for whole pizzas is outrageous. Why pay a $60 membership fee to be tortured? I'll stick with Amazon shopping, and make my own pizzas in the comfort of my own home. Besides, paying money in order to spend money is not a good shopping strategy. So, start the 2025 year off right, and stop buying memberships that will only lead to you spending more money! Update: After contemplating, I have decided to report this business for contract coercion/unfair business practices. Because if they are willing to put a senior citizen through all this for an item that cost $12.69, they most likely have done this to many other people. The practice of coercing customers into purchasing memberships in order to obtain a refund needs to stop. Especially since their stated refund policy says they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. This is my go-to Costco when I'm in the high desert. It's the only Costco in the high desert. The next closest one is in Fontana near Sierra Lakes. But I actually go to any Costco that is on my way to wherever I am at. Just love Costco! I've been a Costco member since 2005... 17 years and still counting! I have the Executive membership which gives 2% back on all Costco purchases. In addition, I have their Costco Citi Visa credit card which has some nice % back rewards for various purchases on gas, restaurants, travel, etc. One thing that's changed since COVID-19 is the redemption of the rewards... one of them either the Executive or Citi Costco Visa where you have to redeem on a purchase... you can't get cash back on it... I forget which one. This Costco has excellent selections and friendly service. They are known for bulk sales... one thing I wish they would change is the bagels... why the bundling of two bags versus one bag? I can't eat two bags within a week... I know I can freeze the other bag, but I don't like freezing my bagels LOL. Anyway, prices are great for the most part. I never have any issues with the staff. Parking is plenty... they do get really busy so you may have to park at the outer realm of the parking lot... consider it as your walk exercise... I sometimes intentionally park far so I can walk farther... just my preference. Costco Gas is a definite benefit as their prices are usually lower than most gas stations. I've used Costco Travel for my car rentals... no one has beaten their prices yet. I've used Costco Optometry for my eyeglasses for several years now... can't beat their eyeglass frame prices. I haven't used Costco Auto Program as of yet, but maybe when I get a new car, I'll check them out. I used to use their Costco Photo for photos and ink cartridges refill, but they've removed this service from their locations... I was so disappointed about it, but oh well. Last, but not least, Costco Food Court has the best priced food items... love their cheese pizza, chicken bake, berry smoothie, mocha drink, and churro! Just a steal of a deal for a quick meal! Oooh... did you like that nice rhyme? If you are a current member, continue your membership as I believe Costco gives great value for your money on most products... I can't say for all products though. If you're not a current member, give Costco a try and reap all the benefits they offer. There was tapeworms in all 3 packets of chicken i bought. I called customer service and they told me to discard it since it was popped open and leaking. And that i needed to bring the picture of the item number to the store and i also took pictures of the worms and chicken. I get to the store and the white woman with the glasses really told me she wasnt going to refund me because i had to bring back the nasty chicken and she expected me to put it in my freezer. I told her how the hell she expects me to put tapeworms in my fridge along with my other food?! You get told one thing by someone and then another by another. Either way THEY are responsible for whats on the shelf. You would think theyd refund me instead of me sueing them.. pissed me off they dont give a damn about my health or my dogs health. Im definately going to post about this everywhere now. And contact my lawyer. I was nice enough to come get a refund for my inconvenience instead of have time arguing about a 40$ to some lady who thinks someones going to bring a popped bag of expired chicken of tapeworms. Victorville Costco is one of the smallest, most crowded Costco's I've ever been to! No matter what time of day, the parking lot cannot accommodate all the cars trying to park. This morning (an ordinary Thursday morning @ 10:30am) there were at least 5 cars lined up in every row just waiting for someone to back out. I ended up leaving after driving around for 5 minutes. I decided to chance it again this afternoon because Google said it would be better between 3-5pm. It was only slightly easier to find a parking spot. No carts were lined up by the front door, but since I knew this by driving by, I picked up a cart at a cart return. Parts of the store were better than others.
