I took my mom here for a belated Mother's Day. Coterie is a very cozy and quaint tea room. Their afternoon tea service was delicious. Their bisque and scones stood out as my favorites. However, the tea itself was fantastic (I had the marigold tea). I've never had an herbal tea quite so flavorful. The owner was personable and accommodating. This Tea Place is a hidden gem! It has been here since 2018. I don't know how I missed it? It is small, but has a very pleasant feel about it. No other Tea Place in the area has French Decor. The owner makes everything fresh daily, so reservations are required. They have limited hours, so book in advance. Three of my sisters and myself came on a Thursday, and were served promptly. There was a great selection of teas! Three of us had the Coterie Tea ($29) served with Tomato Basil soup and fresh green salad with watermelon cubes, feta cheese and cranberries. We each received three sandwiches each: Egg Salad, Cucumber, and Roast Beef. The current scones were soft and warm. She had made homemade Strawberry Cheesecake and Brownies for our mini desserts. I took my two daughters here for Tea and scones. It was an amazing experience. Everything was delicious. The scones were devine as were the clotted cream and delicious tea sandwiches. The owner Jeanette was so kind and explained the process of making clotted cream . I had no idea how labor-intensive it was and even better than whipped cream. She also took the time to educate all of us about tea time rituals which was very interesting! We would all definitely return for tea again. I celebrated my birthday here on 6/5/21. It was my first time there. The atmosphere and decor was amazing. I felt like I was having royal tea party. My friends and I had a blast. The food was delicious. I even had a friend that does not like tea come and she found a tea she likes. The staff was very friendly and the service was fantastic. My friend and I were spending time exploring some of the inland empire the other day and happened upon this little tea shop in Upland. The ambience was nice (although a bit crowded), music choice very enjoyable. There was a nice selection of different flavors of tea, and we loved the assortment of china and tea pots. We both ordered the Coterie Tea. Food seemed quite basic and we felt a few improvements would really create a more elegant experience. Ideas: serve your chicken salad on mini croissants rather than cutting a regular sized one in half, or consider making a pat`e a choux to serve your tasty chicken salad in. Scones were fair; we would have appreciated a little more lemon curd. We were disappointed in the canned pears that came on the salad, which was otherwise ok. A variety of sandwich shapes would make for a lovelier appearance, rather than just basic rectangles. The shortbread cookies were tasty and we thought homemade; the little carrot cake bites were disappointing, hard to eat without a fork, and tasted like a purchased (not homemade) item. A touch of something chocolate should always be part of the dessert (a dipped strawberry perhaps?) Overall, it was a relaxing experience and I wish the proprietor all the best in her future in this spot. read more

The warm atmosphere and hand made baked goods and finger sandwiches were delicious. The soft lighting and music is the perfect background for conversation and relaxation. The tea service is quaint and your tea is served in bone china tea cups. They offer a variety of tea choices. Jeanettes homemade clotted cream was amazing. They had delicious scones here. Also the tea is pretty good, I'm kind of picky about tea too. The teas on their menu are just the most popular so if you are looking for more variety, they have it. They only thing that I think could be improved is the variety of tea. Attended a tea this afternoon with 6 of us 20ish and up in age, I believe we all had a good time. Were able to make last minute reservations which was wonderful. There are 3 small tables fitting 3 or 4 and one that easily accommodated all 6 of us. The setting made me feel like I was in England having high tea, menu is in front of books, very clever. Description of all the teas, both decaffeinated and caffinated in the book as well as a tea book that gives much attention, much like a detailed wine list at fine dining. Several different tea levels available, tea and scones all the way to full luncheon. We did the full, soup creamy tomato basil, salad mixed greens with watermelon mixed in and a mild vinegrette dressing, the 3 sandwiches were egg salad, cucumber, and a roast beef with gorgonzola. Then raspberry scones with jam and clotted cream and to finish it off a small cake drizzled with white chocolate topped with a blackberry, a macaroon, and a lemon curd square that was mild in flavor. We had two pots of tea to begin with and then two more as we got going, each tea was very different from each other but all delicious. It is served so there is a portion for every one and no having to decide which to try. One of our group has an allergy and Jeannette made on the fly change to accommodate that. Yesterday my friends and I had tea at Coterie, what a cute experience! We had a lot of dietary restrictions, and they did an awesome job accommodating gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options. (FYI they did tell us they can't guarantee no cross contamination, but since we did not have any gluten allergies, it was ok for us). The teas were delicious, I definitely recommend the Coconut Cardamom one, and the foods were very good too.
