i've been coming here for about 15 years now. I remember when it was the original location. It was a small little drive-through only and it was the size of a little shack. I love that they are open 24 seven. They have a great drive-through and staff is efficient. they have amazing items on the menu. The meat is always well marinated. The store is super clean all the time and well lit. The biggest downside is over the years the Red Sox has not been the same. It doesn't have the punch it used to. I don't know what they did, but I don't like it. I mean, it's still my favorite red sauce out of all the taco shops in the area, but if they could revert back to the old recipe, that would be great. read more

This place has been around as long as I can remember and I am pretty sure it used to be at the other end of the parking lot before the redevelopment. With the changing times, the price of a burrito has gone up significantly since my younger days. Cotixan has the best value in the area that I'm aware of so we have been coming here more often. My favorite is the beer battered fish burrito because it has lots of pico de gallo and cabbage in it. I have also had the shredded chicken burrito, but it was pure chicken, which could be a good thing for some people. My husband always orders the carne asada burritos everywhere he goes and I haven't heard him complain about it here. They have cute branding and have two drive thru lanes. The Cotixans in Mira Mesa has been a staple to the community since they were at the corner in their old double-sided drive-thru location. I have been coming here at least once a week...for years! The current location is a few years old and has a double drive-thru. I don't care how long that line is, it moves fast. And it's worth it. The food is always hot and made fresh. I love that the new location has inside seating now. And the place is beautiful. It's always clean. There are TVs to watch while you eat and the soda machine is one of those coke freestyle machines with tons of flavors. You can't go wrong with any taco shop in San Diego. But I love the flavors in the carne asada here. It's good. I don't go to far from my traditional order, but everything is worth a try! read more

I've driven by this taco shop hundreds of times and last night was my first time trying it. My boyfriend, daughter, and I had a late night craving for Mexican food and I remembered this being open 24/7. They have a drive thru, but we opted to walk in to place our to-go order. They were super quick (less than 5 minutes)! The food was ready before we got our sauces from the self served sauce station. I really like how they had pumps for the sauces (much cleaner than the spoons at other places). There were only 2 types of sauces, the mild green tomatillo and the hot red. We preferred the green over the red sauce, but both were good. We ordered the carnitas burrito, carne asada burrito, and 3 rolled tacos. You really get your money's worth because the burritos were huge! I really loved how they did not come with rice or beans. The meats were really tender and flavorful. Both burritos were really tasty. The rolled tacos were ok, a bit too much cheese. They were extra crispy; however, I would have enjoyed it more had it come with some shredded lettuce or salsa. Mira mesa cotixan I've been coming here for about a year, and while I'm not Mexican and can't fully judge the authenticity of the food, there are serious issues that need to be addressed. The staff seem completely untrained and treat customers as if this were some small village where anything goes. Instead of a proper system like a speaker or digital screen to announce when orders are ready, management has instructed employees to whistle at customers -- as if we're animals. Imagine how disrespectful (and even impossible for someone who is hearing-impaired) that is. If you read through the reviews, you'll see countless complaints about food quality, service, and staff behavior. What's worse is that management has never bothered to respond or apologize to any of them. Clearly, "the customer is never right" here. If this is how they treat customers in public, I can only imagine what happens in the kitchen where nobody is watching. This was my last visit. read more
