Love that it's open 24/7, I just wish the food tasted a little better. We ordered the combination beef burrito and cheese enchilada, a California burrito, the asada plate, and a hard shell taco. The best way I can describe it is mid. It was acceptable, but not something that would bring me back. Customer service was great, though. Everything came out quickly, the staff was attentive, and the place was clean. The salsa bar was convenient with dispensers, but there were only two options, red and green, and both were pretty watered down. The burrito looked huge, but after taking a bite, it was mostly tortilla and pretty underwhelming. The hard shell taco was actually good. The enchilada was disappointing, with unmelted cheese, and honestly, it completely missed the mark. The asada was okay, but the rice was not good. Overall, it's a pretty mid spot with a few positives, but nothing special.

This place has been around as long as I can remember and I am pretty sure it used to be at the other end of the parking lot before the redevelopment. With the changing times, the price of a burrito has gone up significantly since my younger days. Cotixan has the best value in the area that I'm aware of so we have been coming here more often. My favorite is the beer battered fish burrito because it has lots of pico de gallo and cabbage in it. I have also had the shredded chicken burrito, but it was pure chicken, which could be a good thing for some people. My husband always orders the carne asada burritos everywhere he goes and I haven't heard him complain about it here. They have cute branding and have two drive thru lanes. Conveniently on Mira Mesa and Camino Ruiz.

Close to work and I enjoy the cleanliness of this restaurant as much as the food which is always good. I've had many items from the menu and all are really good but I'm a big fan of the rolled tacos. Food comes out hot and the beer is cold! Good place to relax when you're hungry. They also have a patio out front. Service is good here.

Found a label in my carne asada fries.

Im not sure why it always happens to me, but yet, another label in my food. Carne asada fries. Sigh.

Good for a late night option but I've definitely had better fries/burritos before. We did drive through and got our food pretty fast which was nice. I would say the food here is okay but nothing special.

Came into Cotixan real quick and it was such a good stop! The food came out super fast and was absolutely delicious! They're open 24 hours, which is super rad if you're ever craving Mexican food late at night. I also loved that they have a self-serve salsa bar, definitely a nice touch! The restaurant itself was super clean and had plenty of space, making it great for larger groups. And my burrito... it was massive!! Overall, a great spot and I'll for sure be coming back.

WtF is going on at this location. This is like a beef stew burrito

I didn't order a beef stew burrito. I ordered a carne asada burrito and got beef stew burrito.

I always enjoy getting the carne asada fries whenever I'm in San Diego! Their service is always quick and the fries always come out fresh and tasty.

One of my childhood favorites but at a the original location! This one is second best lol. I wish their hot sauce was consistent and always dark orange and spicy. Their food portions are huge for the price! I like the fries on the well done side but my husband hates it that way. Everyone is always attentive here which is nice. The hot sauce bar is always clean and fully stocked. The bathrooms are always clean. There's lots of ceiling fans for a cool breeze especially on this hot summer day! Pro tip: add lime to your carne asada fries! You're welcome baby!

We went on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. There was no line to order, but we had to wait a bit for the employee to come around and take our order. Our food came out pretty quick though. - Nachos Supreme: 4/5 the chips have a really good texture and a good crunch. Actually some of the best chips I've had that came with nachos. It was a little too greasy in general though and there was a puddle of oil at the bottom.

Ordered 3 fish tacos today. I usually don't finish the tortillas. After eating the fish, I noticed green spots on two of the tortillas that I suspect is mold. I went back to show them. The lady there responded that they make their tortillas fresh daily & that the spots are from the cabbage. I'm not really convinced...

I picked a place off Google but when we landed there we were not comfortable stopping to park, so we looked again and decided to check out La Puerta not realizing it was in the Gaslight District. I am not a fan of the Gaslight District, which is why I am so mad!! I'm going to HAVE to go back to the Gaslight District!! The food was AMAZING!! I HIGHLY recommend the Potato Flautitas. It's the kind of dish I'm going to dream about, I'm salivating now just thinking about them. I also did the Pick 3 Street Tacos (and actually ordered a 4th). The Ranchero Shrimp and Grilled Veggie were top notch. The Conchinita was recommended by our waiter, and it was interesting, tasty but different. It could have used a little more pickled onion. The only one I would not recommend (shockingly, I thought it would be the easy pass) was the carne asada. It was too greasy. My husband ordered a carne asada quesadilla and said the same, it was too wet and soaked through the tortilla. But there were no many other delightful options, I would say just don't go traditional. But honestly my favorite thing on the plate was the side dish rajas con crema, seriously, that alone is going to drag me down to the Gaslight District. I'm even considering going to a Padres game just for the excuse. I'm salivating again! As for our waiter, Colin, he was fantastic. Very informative, made great suggestions and seemed genuinely pleased by our satisfaction. He was smiling the whole time, friendly and stayed very present. I highly recommend you get yourself through the door at La Puerta and sit down for a meal ASAP. (We ate the food so fast I forgot to take pictures.)

They even offered to give us a new set of forks and knives. I think it is small details like this that make a difference. The most prominent detail I really liked about this location was the ocean view. We made a reservation for outdoor seating, and had an amazing view of the ocean and sunset. Parking was a little difficult. There's only one row for free self parking, but it is very limited. They offer $10 valet which I had to do because I could not find any parking. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. Because this restaurant is a more high-end / upscale restaurant, I would recommend this location more for a special occasion or date night rather than a casual place to eat.
