    Al pastor street taco
    Lena G.

An actual hidden gem - found this truck behind Best Buy in the parking lot set up with lots of seating and canopies for shade! The Taco Tuesday deals are soo worth it at $1.50 per street taco (choice of al pastor, tripa, carnitas, and chicken) and generous with meat. But my fav are the crisp and juicy quesabirria tacos, which includes 4 tacos plus consome for $16.99. The cheesiness and flavor are bomb without being very salty! 4 birria tacos with consome is $13.99 but trust me, you want the gooey cheese. They even have a birria torta with fries that's a stuffed sandwich of the tender birria meat, which is super filling. The al pastor is glistening as it rotates on the spit with the pineapple and 100% my favorite of the street tacos. Pair it with a creamy cinnamony horchata to cool down on a hot day! The staff were super nice so I'll be back to support often. This is a great spot in Mira Mesa!!

I drive by this taco truck frequently so I've been meaning to catch it sometime. I finally caught it one of these days and I tried their mini $1.50 tacos which actually ended up being pretty good. The truck itself is located behind the Best Buy in the parking lot and it's tucked away so it's a bit hard to see from the freeway. I think they take credit card but I'm not sure because I paid in cash. The people working there were super friendly and gave me recommendations and so I ended up just taking one of the recommendations.

Best Birria period. Made to order fresh, so flavorful, amazing consommé, couldn't get any better! The truck is behind Best Buy in Mira Mesa every day except Mondays. Great service from a young man who takes your order at a table outside of the truck. He helps with questions (i.e. I asked him about Huarache). Service with a smile and courtesy to get everything ready whether you are taking out or dining in. First bite will blow your mind. Didn't know Birria could be at this level of deliciousness until discovering Jarocho's Birria! Prices are great and affordable. The Taco size is large with so much filling. Served hot (careful burning your mouth). Will definitely be a regular customer and try the Huarache, Birria Ramen, Breakfast selections, etc. This food truck just reignited my passion for Birria tacos!!!

I absolutely love seeing food trucks in Mira Mesa! This Birria truck offers more than just Birria tacos; they have hamburgers, nachos, burritos, and more. I tried the queso Birria tacos, and they were fantastic! They were so hot that they even burnt my lip, but I don't mind because I expect my food to be hot and fresh. It's Taco Tuesday, so I tried their fish tacos for $2 each, which were good, although I wish they were crispier and hotter. They have a sauce bar with mild green sauce and not-too-spicy red sauce. The service was quick, and just a heads up, there's a $1 extra charge for using cards, so bring cash. Overall, a solid food truck experience.

I wont elaborate too much but local trucks like this are what keep me in SoCal. Take yourself behind the Best Buy and try this place out. $20 for 4 large tacos will bring me back everyday.

Good Taco Tuesday specials but the al pastor meat can be a bit chewy so I ask that they cook it to get more char on the meat. Tripas tacos are really good here. The queso birria tacos are solid and good serving size. Have to ask for the grilled onions and peppers.

Birria taco and two fish tacos.

My friend highly recommended this place so I decided to take a visit. I was extremely satisfied and impressed with the overall experience. Excellent customer service. Great special on fish tacos on Fridays for Catholics. 3 tacos at $8.99. As you can see the tacos are a decent size and packed. I couldn't help to try the birria for my 3rd. They were all fresh, flavorful and filling! A nice spot to grab some tacos and enjoy outdoor seating perfect for the warmer, longer days ahead!

I stopped by for Taco Tuesday. I ordered two Birria tacos and two rolled tacos with carne asada. It's a food truck so be prepared to eat at a picnic table. The food was good, not the best and not the worst. It cost me $19 because I paid with a card for the two tacos, two rolled tacos and a bottle of Coca-Cola.

It's similar to Al pastor without the pineapple though. The meat was tender and the flavor was authentic. My partner liked this one the most! What shocked me was the carne asada. The taco was delicious!! It had a wonderfully smoky flavor to the meat and it was juicy and tender. I have been craving it ever since!! This was my favorite. There's no seating downstairs but if you go upstairs you'll find some tables! Be warned that it's hot upstairs. But since you chow down the food quickly you won't be there for too long anyway. I remember this place being super busy for the most part, but we came in with a short line, though it was still pretty busy. Definitely come here for the adobada tacos and always ask for pineapples to add on top on them. It's the perfect balance of salty, sweet, and spicy. The asada tacos come with a nice heaping amount of guac. Love the smokey flavor in the tacos. I also always get cabeza tacos and these were great. My only knock was that the tacos are pretty small for what you get and I guess the prices keep going up. I seems like $4 per taco is the standard for these kind of places. Also, this place was hot and humid, especially if you choose to eat upstairs. Came here on a hot day, but literally no AC running.

There were a couple of groups dining in and someone picking up a to-go order, but there was still plenty of seating available. The employee working the counter was friendly. They also serve alcohol, and during my visit drinks were 20% off. Options included Pacifico, Modelo, Blue Moon, hard seltzers, and a selection of canned craft beers. I ordered: * Mahi Mahi Taco: the fish tasted fresh, and I liked the crispy onions on top. There was quite a bit of sauce, which made it pretty messy to eat. While the fish was good, it felt like a very heavy taco overall. * Surf & Turf Taco: this was loaded with steak and topped with two flavorful shrimp. The shrimp had an amazing flavor, and this taco was much more enjoyable and balanced. Overall, the service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the protein quality was excellent. My only critique is that the tacos felt a little overdone with toppings and sauces when the quality of the protein could easily stand on its own. Still, it's a solid spot for an affordable late-night bite. One thing to note: there are no restrooms available inside the restaurant.

Sometimes, there are nights when only tacos can fix me. It's no secret that San Diego has tacos in…read morespades and being so close to the border, you'd think that a quest to find the perfect taco would be as simple as rolling down to the nearest taqueria. Except, it's not quite that simple. Many beloved staples have gone downhill, while some newer spots that might boast things like a Michelin mention or multiple locations ranging from TJ to Vegas contain more hype and gristle than tender meat and substance. Enter Chula Tacos. Chula is, and always was, the type of place that makes you forget that you're not actually in Tijuana. While part of me misses their OG Market Street location, seeing them with brick-and-mortars feels hard-earned and well-deserved. This location on Palm in IB is relatively easy to access from the freeway, but parking can be tricky. You can safely assume that it will be busy and you will either have to be very lucky or be willing to find a spot on the street. Out of all the times I've been here, it's always been crowded enough that I've never been able to find a table inside, but I enjoy sitting out on the patio next to the ahumederos. The first thing that hits you walking through the door is how amazing everything smells. The queue to the cashier takes you near a window showing the kitchen where you can see the Chula Tacos team making fresh tortillas, slicing meat from the trompos, grilling up jalapenos, nopales, onions, labio, and tripa. For me, it's not so much a challenge to decide what I want, it's more a challenge to keep myself from ordering everything. My usual is four tacos: two asada, two al pastor (but I've heard that I should also try their world famous keka). The tacos though? Perfection. Every time, the asada is the juiciest and most tender I've ever eaten, the al pastor is succulent and flavorful, and no taco in front of me is long for the world. At $3.50 each, every one of them is absolutely loaded. Three would honestly fill me up, but I always want four. After getting burned by spots that ask around 75% more and deliver anywhere between 25-50% less, Chula Tacos feels like an absolute godsend of a Tijuana-style taqueria and I can't see any other contenders being my go-to. So, when I say "Tacos will fix me," what I mean nowadays is "Chula Tacos will fix me."

Every item we ordered was packed with delicious flavors and made fresh. One thing that stood out was their attention to detail with to-go orders--they provided plenty of condiments, including a variety of salsas, cucumbers, radishes, and peppers, which really elevated the meal. The highlight of the menu is the Keka Taco. It is incredibly delicious, loaded with flavor, and so filling that it can easily satisfy even the biggest appetite. The only downside to this establishment is the limited parking, which can make picking up your order a bit challenging during busy times. However, the amazing food and generous portions more than make up for the parking inconvenience. If you're in the area, the Keka Taco is a must-try!
