Entrance - hotel has 2 floors only
    Paul M.

Quick 1 night stay for work. This is a newer look and updated Courtyard. While There are only two floors the hotel has a big footprint and each floor winds around and is a big confusing maze to find the elevator or ice machine. Room was clean and bed was good (not great). Still wish Marriott would resolve their issues and get HBO again in their hotel chains. Showtime is not nearly as good. Fitness center was clean and a good size. Wish treadmills faced a window and not a wall.

Nice room, comfortable bed. Clean property and a good lounge area. Easy access. Would stay here again if I was in the area.

However, there were a few things future guests should be aware of. My wife found the motel online and specifically chose it because the information indicated there was a swimming pool. Springfield was having a very hot summer week, so the pool was actually one of the reasons we selected the property. Unfortunately, when we checked in, the desk clerk told us that they had not had a pool for some time. Somewhere between the motel's online information and the booking site, that information had not been updated. If having a pool is important to your stay, verify it directly with the motel before booking. The property itself has a pleasant, well-maintained central courtyard with grass, landscaping, outdoor tables, umbrellas, and seating. It gives the older motel-style property a surprisingly nice common area. The motel is also located close to the freeway, making it convenient for getting to other destinations around Springfield and Eugene. We had a second-floor room. There is no hiding the fact that this is an older property, but the stairs were wide and spacious enough that carrying our luggage upstairs was not difficult. Our room was clean and had enough open floor space to move around comfortably. It included a king-size bed, desk and chair, television, microwave, mini-refrigerator, and an additional chair. The room was not fancy, but it was functional. The bathroom arrangement was interesting. The vanity and sink are outside the separate toilet and tub/shower area. If you like bright bathroom lighting, you will certainly get it here--the vanity mirror is surrounded by approximately 12 bright globe lights. You may want to prepare your eyes before flipping that switch first thing in the morning. The tub and shower were clean, and the shower had very good water pressure. The biggest problem during our stay was the air conditioning. The room appears to have been designed long before today's hotter summer temperatures became common, and an air-conditioning unit has been added on an open closet shelf. Unfortunately, it struggled with the heat. Turning it to maximum cooling caused it to freeze up, while running it at a lower setting took several hours before the room became what I would describe as "coolish," sometime during the middle of the night. During a hot Springfield summer, that made sleeping comfortably more difficult than it should have been. Overall, Village Inn met the basic requirements of giving us a clean room, a comfortable-sized bed, a good shower, and a convenient location from which to find restaurants and explore the area. The courtyard is a definite positive. However, the inaccurate pool information and an air conditioner that struggled during hot weather kept this from being a better stay for us.

Shout out Jose- Manager training a new lady. Amazing guy. Front of hotel looks much better than the rest of it Who ever works the night shift 10/28 front desk.. probably shouldn't be in hospitality. I went down... spoke to him, he looks at me and straight ignored me. I was going to go down and get my welcome gift that you usually get when checking in but it was such a turn off.. I just left. The AC in the room reeeks of mold. I hate this with hotels because Mold actually can get you sick. ( should know this). Plus I had my baby with me. They lied to me earlier today about being sold out for tonight. Funny thing is, I worked with Hilton. I know systems are slow to update but the room I did request is still up tonight . It's 11:32pm. ( yes Guest can still check in) however it's somewhat unlikely being that we are out of tourist season in this area. Also room had no body wash. Not a hard fix but just had conditioner and a bottle of shampoo sitting on side of tub. Either way to end this review: 1. Rooms were decently clean. That's what Matters the most. 2. Last night staff I get it. Don't be fake but do realize... attitude within hospitality matters here in America lol. 3. I'm not a slow cookie. I don't like being lied to Hilton. :/. ---- I didn't take pictures this time but photos looked decently accurate. 3 stars is what I would give it. Would I stay again.. probably.

Unfortunately, my experience this evening was particularly unsatisfactory. I extended my stay by an additional day and went out this morning at 8:00 AM. I left a sign on the door requesting housekeeping services, such as fresh towels, bed making, and trash removal. I returned intermittently throughout the day from visiting a family member at the hospital, but these requests had not been fulfilled. At approximately 5:30 PM, I returned to my room expecting the services to be completed, but they had not been. I contacted the front desk, where I was informed that the housekeeping staff had finished for the day. I also inquired about the signs I had left, which were printed in English--however, I was told that the house keeping is only Spanish. As I understand, staff members should be trained to recognize and understand these signs regardless of language, to ensure guest requests are properly handled. When I discussed this with the front desk, they mentioned that the only assistance they could provide was towels, which would require me to leave the room and obtain them myself, as no housekeeping was available. I then carefully placed the trash in the designated cleaning areas which was still open and decided to depart for the evening. The front desk stated they could provide me with an email address for customer service to file a formal complaint and mentioned that they could inform a supervisor, but there was no guarantee of resolution. I intend to submit a formal complaint regarding the language barrier and the lack of understanding of housekeeping signage. I believe it is important that staff are properly trained so they can address guest requests effectively. Additionally, Saturday morning was also frustrating. The breakfast service did not open until shortly after the scheduled time, and the attendant managing the breakfast buffet was quite unpleasant, displaying aggressive behavior such as pushing chairs as if she was truly pussed off and without regard for the setup. The breakfast offerings were incomplete at the opening, with no bread, carbs, or pancake batter available, which was disappointing. On a positive note, I appreciated that the laundry facilities included at least one washer and dryer, which were affordable and in good working condition. The availability of laundry detergent at the front desk was also convenient. However, the coffee machines--offering mochas, espressos, and lattes--have been broken since our arrival, possibly even before, and it does not appear there are plans to repair them before the weekend. Overall, I am disappointed with this renovated property. It does not seem to meet the standards expected of a Best Western Plus hotel. As a member at the Diamond or Gold level, I believe all guests should receive consistent and quality service, and I am concerned that this has not been the case during my stay.

Check-in was smooth, and the staff member who greeted us was genuinely pleasant and cool, giving us some extra water and few green bags of goodies (returned the next day), promising to wave the parking fee. That's where the positives ended. After a long drive, we dropped our bags in da rooms and went out for a dinner without inspecting our rooms a bit closely. When we returned later that night and checked the beds with a UV light, we were shocked to find stains on both beds. It was darn disturbing (photos attached)! We went down to the front desk to report it. The night staff told us there was no one available to change the linens and no other rooms available to change at full occupancy. Instead, we were handed a set of sheets and sent back to deal with it ourselves. After 10 PM, exhausted, we had no real choice but to accept it. In the morning, we raised the issue again with the new front desk rep. The replacement sheets were not much better, and despite our complaint, the response was limited to verbal apologies only. We were still charged full price for the night, plus a $20 parking fee for overfilled parking lot that's essentially had open access from the street. This is not the level of cleanliness or service expected from a Hyatt. Do your due diligence and do not assume standards are being met. Check your room carefully before settling in. Breakfast on the other hand was great! Variety of eggs, milks and healthy choices beat other Hyatt locations we stated at the next day in Portland. Loved it, and that what basically got the stars.
