I was in the area last Friday and my sister suggested trying this place. It actually was difficult to find because I was looking for a entrance on the Main Street at the 4 corners in Baldwinsville and I couldn't see it. We then called and they said it was next to the appliance store Sheeans so I went in at the bville diner and went in the back and saw the back entrance. Upon entering it was like going back in time ( like the 60's). We sat at a booth and waitress came right over. The special was a fish sandwich with one side for 7.25!!! We both got that and I couldn't believe the size of the sandwich for that price. Actually all the food items are very reasonable. Many regulars were eating lunch because the waitress knew them by first name. The fish was excellent and the side coleslaw was also. This place is in an old building's basement, and it's dingy. But the small-town feel makes up for it if you want to imagine you're a local. As for the food, the corned beef hash was cold, and taken from a can. I couldn't finish the omelet because the stuff inside wasn't really cooked. The cakey pancake I tried was loaded with chocolate chips though! I only went here because the other breakfast spots in B'ville were packed! read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Cute and old and the prices are out of the sixties. The service was good and server was friendly. My omelet was actually very good and I enjoyed their food. You can afford to take the kids there and not spend a fortune. The location is close to the river and the atmosphere is good. Both of us ate here for under ten dollars. read more

Began Baldwinsville Dining week by having breakfast at the Cottage Restaurant. This is a no nonsense small town place run by Michelle, the owner. It appears many customers are regulars who know a great bargain when they see it. Breakfast is inexpensive. My husband and I paid just over $11.00 for both of us with bottomless coffee. I had the special, which is two eggs, any style, toast (variety of bread) and hash browns or home fries. My husband opted for the omelette with toast and hash browns. They also serve pancakes and waffles. Open for both breakfast and lunch, this is a good place to take the family especially when there are kids involved. Cheap eats with a smile. read more

Have heard good things about this place from Locals. We decided to go for breakfast. Service was quick and friendly. Food was average at best. 2 stars is kind of low I would say 2 1/2. This place is old and looks a little rough on the inside. I don't think it has changed in 30 years. The place is very cheap to eat which I do like for sure. The bathrooms were kinda sketchy. My 7 year old was a little sketched out. I see why people go here though. I can tell all the servers knew all the customers well. It was busy so people must like. I've never given a zero star review before. I'm sorry to be giving it now - I was served expired honey mustard and the waitress didn't even seem remotely concerned about it. She chucked it out without offering me a new one, and didn't go to check to see if the other dressing had expired, either. The restaurant is located in a basement, which isn't a horrible thing, but the lighting is extremely poor, the decor is dated (and not in that kitschy or vintage way), there are a ton of dusty knicknacks nested in with the serving cups and whatnot, and the waitresses were more interested in gossiping with one another than with tending the patrons in the restaurant. Indeed the prices are reasonable, cheap in fact, but you're not gaining anything by going there except a headache and mild feeling that the lunch food you've just eaten may be past date. We had heard good things about this place and decided to take our weekend visitors there for breakfast. What a mistake! We were shocked at how dirty this place was and should have left immediately. Our waitress was not very attentive as she was more interested in filling up the ketchup bottles than getting creamer for our coffee or even offering to refill our coffees. Other customers that arrived after us got served before we did. Maybe it was because they were regulars and we weren't. When our food finally arrived, my order was missing the hashbrowns. We called ahead on a Sunday morning for breakfast, we were told about 30 minutes. Upon arriving at the restaurant you could tell that they were obviously busy. There was two different parties in front of me waiting in line at the door. I was there at least 5-7 minutes before any of us were acknowledged, when she got to me she said it looked like the food wasn't ready but she would go ahead and check me out. While paying for the meal one of the cooks said "is that the to go order? I'll start cooking it now." Great location right by the river but I'll be honest I walked in and if felt like a dungeon! It's on the bottom level of a nice building with absolutely no views. There are 2 windows and restaurant itself looks very very dated. With all that being said I warmed up throughout our visit! It's like a CHEERS restaurant. Waitresses would say hi to people by their first names and it was obvious there were a lot of "regulars" there. Breakfast menu was short but I went with the Fretta and I cleaned off that plate! Delicious!!!!! So I'm giving it 4 stars because food and staff are Great. I wish this restaurant could be on a higher level with an outdoor patio on river tho. This little restaurant is tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Located in the basement of the building, there is an exterior door out to the ample parking lot. As we first entered the restaurant, there was a note on the door that the credit card machine was down. The sign was a little faded an looked like that may have been the case for sometime. If you are looking for a pristine setting, this, this may not be for you. The runway entering the restaurant was somewhat dirty with leaves and dried mud (granted it had rained earlier in the day of our visit) As we looked at the menu, you could see a nice selection of meals at a reasonable price. The early bird breakfast special was 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast and real home fries for $2.99. Blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes were on the menu. Several omelette options. Corned beef hash was offered as a side. There service was fast and friendly. You could tell that many of the folks that were there were regulars and the wait staff called them by name. Simple decor, extremely reasonably priced menu for breakfast. I had eggs and potatoes, my husband had a nice omelette with potatoes, and we both had toast and coffee - all for around $10. The food was tasty and hot. The place is quite busy, and it was clear that everyone (except us!) were pretty regular visitors. Service was friendly and fast. I'm giving this place two stars only because the food is okay, but just okay. The decor is ominous and outdated. There are no signs to let you know that you must seat yourself, so we stood there looking like idiots to the local regulars for a good five minutes before a customer (not an employee) told us to take a seat. It smelled like a dirty old dive bar with rickety ceiling fans, and the ceiling tiles were in grossly bad shape. The menu was very limited and had no explanation of ingredients. I blindly ordered a fretta without knowing what the heck was in it. God forbid I try to ask...the server was very rushed yet really chatty with other guests. There was only one cook and one server, and people that came in after us were served first. Favoritism, much? I can only assume because everyone there seemed to know everyone else as we were completely ignored. I think it may have been the early hot spot for all the locals on their way to the Silver Fox senior social club, as nobody in there could have been under 65. At ages 34 & 41, my husband and I felt VERY uncomfortable with all the strange looks we received. We'll never go there again....I would like to recommend the Canal Walk Cafe right across the street. Much more brightly pleasant atmosphere with better food and friendlier staff/patronage. read more
