Nice vibe and an owner who truly cares about his customers. We started with a cocktail at the bar while waiting for our table. Cocktails were very good and reasonably priced. If you're a bourbon or scotch drinker, you'll love their selection. The bartender and owner really know their stuff and if you're not sure what you want, they won't hesitate to make a suggestion. When we were seated, we were immediately greeted by our server who was just as friendly and attentive as the bar staff. The menu isn't very big, but what they do have is very good. There was live entertainment which consisted of a gentleman on the electric piano singing songs. His selection of music was a perfect choice for people enjoying their dinner. Nice soft music and we never felt like we had to make an effort to talk over the music. He also had a wonderful voice and took a request from us to play Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World which he absolutely knocked out of the park! The owner stopped by our table a couple of times to check on us and was attentive without being over the top. My wife and I go there on Sundays for the brunch. Its a buffet and they give you a good choice of food. Surprisingly the scrambled eggs and potatoes are seasoned as well. The lunch offerings are a good variety as well. All you want to eat for $28 is a deal. The only negative for us is the distance. Its almost 30mins from Syracuse. Went here during dining weeks to celebrate a birthday. Made a reservation for 6 pm and was seated promptly upon arriving. I was not expecting them to be kid friendly, as they are a little more upscale, but they asked if we wanted a high chair and kids menu for our toddler! The dining room has clearly been upgraded recently and was beautiful! Our server explained the various menus and specials and quickly took our drink orders. However, service started to decline after this. We had ordered the warm bread basket, and never ended up getting it. By the time we realized they had forgotten about it, we didn't feel like it was worth it. Our salads and soups came out quickly, but everything else took a while. When we would finish one course, it would take 10-15 min to clear our empty plates. The waitress also didn't check in with us very often to see if we wanted to order more drinks. I will also say that more places should start bringing our young kids entrees before the adults. It can be very tough for a toddler to patiently wait 30 minutes for their food. Once we got our food, I will say everything was quite delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor. Portion sizes were also great. I did find an unmashed chunk in my whipped potatoes, but the taste made up for that. The kids mac and cheese was also delicious and the portion was huge! For dessert, we had the option of creme brûlée cheesecake or flourless chocolate torte. Both were decadent and a good way to end the meal. Met friends for dinner on a Friday night (1/10/25). All three of us were pleased with our dinners. Warm bread and a cinnamon butter was served while we waited for our entrees. I had a Winter White Cosmo; tart, tasty, and garnished with whole cranberries. Very pretty! My crab stuffed haddock was huge, served very hot, with a side of green beans and REAL mashed potatoes. The other two entrees - scallops (beautiful golden brown) on corn puree, and a half chicken with a side of mashed potatoes with sauerkraut and bacon mixed in. Delish! Fireside by the River was a great experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, spacious and set up for big parties and by the looks of it holding all kinds of events. The staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating and invested in us having a great dining experience. Drinks were well made and there is a very solid selection. The food was great to fantastic, with the whipped potatoes and warm brie being the ultimate highlights of our evening. Everything was delicious and the options were plentiful. It is expensive but in line to cheaper than other fine dining like experiences. The kicker, the portions were huge! Very impressed with them bucking the fine dining experience of less is more expensive. Delicious and plentiful is a I'll be back for more combo. This new restaurant in Baldwinsville is at the location of the former Fireside Inn, but make no mistake, this is not the same tired old restaurant. As soon as we walked in the front entrance we noticed an elegance and sleek, modern look that was both inviting and relaxing. The owners have done a stellar job with the renovations and it now approaches a Michelin star rating dining establishment. It was our anniversary (which I mentioned when I made my reservation online) and we were greeted by the host with a "happy anniversary!". We were led to a table for two near one of the fireplaces in the main dining room, which was the exact spot my wife had been hoping for. There were several other tables of diners, ranging from retirees to 30 somethings to a family with a toddler. More about that later. Our server was terrific and took our drink orders. I opted for the Butter Bourbon Old Fashioned and my wife had the Tea's Knees, a riff on a G&T. Both were excellent. When the drinks arrived, we ordered the Crispy Pork Belly Bites for our appetizer, and the Crab Stuffed Haddock and the Scallop entrees. While we waited, we were delivered a small fresh baked loaf of bread with honey butter. Service was slower than we expected, but as we were in no hurry, it was not an issue for us. The app arrived after about 20 minutes, and the entrees after about 40, at which time we ordered a few more drinks. I tried the Kicking Mule (Moscow Mule made with jalpeno infused vodka) and my wife had a glass of the Chardonnay. The Mule was ok, but I suggested to the GM that perhaps trying a hot pepper vodka might work better. The Chardonnay was a perfect pairing for the flaky and buttery Stuffed Haddock. Speaking of the GM (General Manager), he came to each table a few times during the evening to check in on guests and see what they thought. He even brought me a sample of a new bourbon which he personally recommended. Getting back to the other diners. The husband and wife who had a relatively quiet toddler, became our focus for awhile, as the husband complained about the cut of steak, the prices, the lack of a children's menu, etc... We thought for awhile that he might just storm out without paying the bill. It was embarrasing. Another table with an older couple next to us proved to be even more embarrasing. They both criticized the food when the GM came over, and demanded that he comp their meal, of which they had already eaten half. They then got up and left without another word. We on the other hand were effusive with our compliments about the food, the service and especially the surprise anniversary dessert that was brought to our table in a quiet manner. A lovely chocolate ganache cake slice with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate sauce on the plate. A perfect end to a wonderful meal. read more

This was our first time here and we came with a group. This is a really nice facility with multiple levels and different sized rooms, seems like it would be great for meetings or events. They weren't really prepared for our group of 15 and service was extremely slow and disjointed so I think they're still working out some kinks. We started with cocktails, which were OK but pricey and not memorable. Bread and thyme spiced butter were really nice touch, but then it was about an hour before meals started to come out... gradually. They need to work on serving the table at the same time (we only had 5 people at our table but it was a good 15 minutes before everyone got food). Our favorites were the scallops and stuffed haddock. Shrimp and grits was too spicy for anyone at our table. The carrot cake slices are enormous and plenty for 3 people. Would try this place again, but not in a group. read more

The renovation is amazing! They have beautiful seating, a stage and a fireplace. There was music when I went and the bar service was very good. I was looking forward to this dinner after hearing good reviews. We were a group of about 25-30 and we had a very nice cocktail hour talking and listening to the music. We were seated and waited a while before they came over to take our orders. Everything seemed to take incredibly long. We waited a while again for appetizers. The warm brie was delicious with the cranberries and nuts and toasted bread - it was a nice size portion to share with a friend. I was excited for the $2/per oyster special and when they came out I was very disappointed with the very tiny size. Then we waited a while for our dinners to come out. My crab stuffed Haddock had good flavor but was quite a bit overcooked and my mashed potatoes were gluey and sticky, like they had mixed them in a blender. Other people had better luck with their entrees , people said the steak and scallops were good and the shrimp and grits were good. But hey .... check out the carrot cake! Absolutely delicious and the cream cheese frosting was excellent. I will definitely go back another time and hope they have some of the issues worked out. read more

Fireside got a major facelift which was needed. The new decor is nice. We started with some cocktails. My wife got a chocolate martini and I got one of their special old fashions. They were both really good. I ordered steak medallions and a baked potato pictured below. The steak was cooked perfectly. Very tender. There was a mushroom type sauce on it. It was decent. My wife got scallops which is her go to at most places. They were a little bland. It came with corn puree which was average. Service was as a little slow but it was sort of busy I guess. I saw someone with the prime rib on their plate and it looked amazing so I will try next time. Prices are a bit steep but not outrageous. This place is close to home and I plan on going back. read more

4/25/26 was my Birthday and I wanted a nice different place other than where we usually dine at ,so i had a large party Birthday dinner @FiresideInnBy the River ..COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT to ME for my birthday. dinner plans for 7pm for a party of 12 some arrived early some arrived at 7 and just a couple arrived shortly after .For my guest that arrived early they was told that we MUST order by 730 pm because the kitchen closes at 830 and the restaurant closes at 9pm .I was very surprised at this because one would think that if that was the policy that would have been mentioned at the time the reservations was made ,My guest that was early sat at the bar to order drinks to be only ignored and the staff kept walking from one end to the other to take drink orders ,one of my guests had stopped the bartender to ask why she wasn't taking there orders because that had been sitting there . The reply was "we are busy but what would you like " so they did get a drink eventually .About 6:50 pm i told the hostess that we are ready to be seated because she said previously that we did not have to wait for everyone to be seated. She took us to a BEAUTIFUL private room that was absolutely Gorgeous ! The setup was really nice as well .Again the waitress (we only had 1) said to us the WE MUST order by 730 they are extremely busy and the kitchen closes at 8:30 so everyone was looking at the menu ordered drinks i ordered a margarita with sugar no salt ..she said that we get 2 baskets of bread for the table ,salads was ordered steamers was ordered for appetizers . We was waiting for about 15 mins she returned with the drinks ,and she took orders appetizers was salads ,and steamers was placed.The waitress returned about 30-40 mins we placed orders there was questions about the salmon and stuffed haddock she wasn't able to answer the menu description of the food was questionable ,so one of my guest chose not to order at all and the rest ordered ...Well the waitress returned about another 30 minutes and said she only had enough steamers for 3orders and the rest would Not be fulfilled ..so the first 3people that ordered was ok with that ..(still no bread) .Other people the steamers was what they ordered for their meal so they too chose not to eat ,so the steamers camenout and she said she only had 2 so now we are about 830 pm and meals are coming out now and one person ordered a steak salad and added chicken ..well NO STEAK! she kept saying she would go get the steak she never bought it ..another person ordered steamers linguine NO SAUCE! there was a few stuffed haddock meals the haddock was NOT cooked threw the veggies was delicious however EVERYONE DIDN'T GET A MEAL!! they said they didn't have any left or they just FORGOT to place the order! ..and if we wanted it then will be another 30-45 mins wait . well we waited just because ..Then the bread finally came out the 2- small loaves was extra tiny and it was precut with maybe 5-6 slices . No salads either for the others . The waitress again said the was extremely busy on sat there was an event for The Bville something ... So we asked for the manger NO MANGER would come so the head kitchen person wanted to discuss the bill but with only 1person they was NOT willing to give us the bill first and he was Not willing to come in the room .so my son went and had a conversation with him he wanted to know what meals we didn't receive so he could adjust the bill accordingly so my son was the go between MIND YOU we NEVER received any water refills or soda refills my margarita with Salt that was wrong we went to the bar to correct and to order other drinks the staff didn't want to take the drink orders . ..I did receive my meal and it was delicious HOWEVER THIS PLACE WAS A COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT AND NO ONE would come and speak or even apologize for the HORRIBLE service ..the place reviews is 4.6 STARS ...HOW?? ..i never ever would pull the race card today as i reflect IS IT BECAUSE WE WAS BLACK?? we did them one better though i know she didn't expect to receive a tip because she didn't deserve it ..WE STILL TIPPED her just because ..SO please if you ever go there ..proceed with CAUTION!AND DONT GO WITH A LARGE PARTY! we was the last ones in the restaurant ...oh i forgot to mention there was a dog barking so loud inside the restaurant too ...and our bill was still $650! read more

Well I had been hearing so many great things about this restaurant we decided to try it out for my friend's birthday and I'm glad we did. Let me say the food here is amazing! Our server started us with some warm bread and brown sugar sage butter. It was very tasty, though I'm not sure if I loved the butter. We started off with shrimp and crab dip, steamed clams, and a dozen oysters on a half shell. All the seafood tasted fresh and you can tell was quality seafood. The oysters had a nice brine to them, I really enjoyed. For my meal I had a filet with mushrooms, mashed potatoes, green beans, and crème brûlée. My food was amazing! Perfectly seasoned and my steak was cooked perfectly medium. My friends enjoyed all their food as well and had no complaints. There is a nice cocktail menu and drinks for every kind of liquor. Our cocktails we had were good and well made. I enjoyed my night here, the service could've been a little better. Idk if our server had a long day but I feel she could've been more attentive. All in all though, if you're thinking about trying this restaurant RUN DON'T WALK lol. I will definitely be back. read more

4 of us recently dined there on a Saturday night. Our reservation was at 7:00 pm. We specifically went there for the Prime Rib. 15 minutes AFTER we ordered, our server came to our table to say they were OUT of prime rib!! Really? At 7:00, prime time, on a Saturday night? This was very annoying! Apparently this restaurant has NO vision of anticipating business on a Saturday night. The kitchen staff should have INFORMED the staff when the prime rib was getting low! Obviously NO communication. The staff was friendly, but a bit incompetent. They brought 4 drinks to the table, however, gave everyone the wrong drink. When our entrees were delivered, the people bringing us our food, stood at our table and asked " who gets the haddock?" The same with the other 3 entrees. Certainly not top grade service! The food was passable; The haddock stuffed with crab was flakey; The other entrees were unremarkable. *** You should NEVER run OUT of an entree , especially something that you're KNOWN for, at 7:00 on a Saturday evening. *** The wait staff needs more training. It's never acceptable to stand at a table and say "who gets this?" ***The communication between the kitchen and the servers needs to improve! Once again, it's never acceptable to for a server to take your order, and then come back 15 minutes later to say they're OUT! ***on an aesthetic note, the dining room lighting was as bright as an operating room! The Fireside by the River has created a great atmosphere, despite being spacious inside, it instantly has a welcoming charm.... and the fireplace is a wonderful feature. The food is outstanding, being both fresh and good quality. Prices are extremely reasonable for such good food. The service was good, and the owner was friendly and made sure he greeted every patron. My wife and I recently had a date night here to check out the new fireside. We were immediately impressed by the atmosphere. The bar is beautiful and the dining area is super cozy. They did an incredible job with the space. The service was excellent, the wait staff was super attentive and we never went a second with a need. The food exceeded expectations. The oysters were fresh. Prime rib was ridiculously good. The bucatini was amazing. And the complimentary cheese board (which was so kindly given to us by the owner himself) was packed full of goody morsels. We're super excited to have a great, cozy, date night spot right in Bville.
