Listen, if you're going to Chateau Elan, you NEED to eat here and just forget about the over-priced, limited menu options at the restaurant at Chateau Elan. The food AND service were on point. We sat outside and ate on their large patio and enjoyed every minute of it, from our drinks, to our appetizers, to our dinner, and even the free dessert they brought out for my birthday. Drinks included a peach Moscow mule, appetizer included the shrimp cocktail that came with the tastiest cocktail sauce I've every had (it had little chinks of mango in it, I think), dinner included crab cakes and lamb chops. I don't leave reviews, but this place deserves 10 stars! The food & the service was superb. Lobster Cocktail: 10/10 - fresh quality chunks of chilled lobster. Wish I would've asked for warm butter, but the cocktail sauce had a good amount of horseradish so it was yummy. Crab cakes: 9/10 - not a lot of breading and tons of crab, just what you want. The sauce could've used a little boost but it was still good for as simple as it was. Glazed bacon: 100/10 - I've had similar dishes at fine steak houses all over the world. They got the combo just right! Not too thick, perfectly charred and the cuts had just the right amount of meat to fatty goodness. It was perfection. New York Strip: 10/10 the cut and quality of the steak was incredible. Then it was cooked to perfection(medium rare) with a crispy flavorful char, yet tender interior. Chilean seabass: 10/10 I think they just took over for my favorite seabass ever. Sorry Aquagrill in NYC, you have been surpassed. Melts like butter in your mouth. The sauce is great too! Truffle wedges: 10/10 because potatoes and truffle is good always. Creme brûlée: 9/10 creamy vanilla goodness, a bit sweeter than I like but still amazing! read more

Our first time there and we loved it! It was very busy mid week and we were very lucky to get a reservation.

Where do I start? We frequent "high-end" steakhouses for special occasions. We're new to the area and Cotton Calf was highly recommended. We made a reservation to celebrate my wife's birthday and it resulted in a huge disappointment. When dining at Frankies or Capitol Grille, birthdays are a big deal. i.e.- a birthday card, complimentary dessert, champagne, and sometimes an appetizer; It always feels special. If we stopped at the old fashioneds, truffle fries, shrimp cocktail, and crab cake everything would have been fine.  My wife ordered the strip and I ordered the cajun ribeye. The ribeye was inedible due to the high salt content. The strip was okay, somewhat salty, but not worth the $72 price. I sent back the ribeye and ordered a Delmonico rib-eye. While my wife was completing her meal, I waited 15 minutes for mine. Service in general was slow.  I asked the server what a Delmonico ribeye was and she replied it's "from the county of Delmonico"!! I discovered Delmonico's are not true ribeyes, they are cut from the front rib of the cow, are thicker, and have less marbling. Again, it was not very tender, nor sufficiently fatty, and not worthy of the $68 price, plus it was wet aged.  The waiter asked if we wanted dessert and I pointed out that another server just served cake with a candle. She replied, "Oh, I can do that!" I spoke with the manager about what appeared to be fruit flies. He blamed it on the brick that they "couldn't seal since it was a historic structure" A most unpleasant special occasion. read more

We were staying at Chateau Elan and were deciding btwn this place and Marc. After quite a few recs we chose Cotton Calf. Positives: Caesar salad was great and so was the bone in filet. Sides and salads are huge and shareable. Negatives: Salads are huge and shareable but they don't offer smaller sizes so if you're with someone and you both want different salads you're out of luck. Our baked potato was undercooked and hard and was not hot. The creamed corn is very heavy on the taco seasoning. I didn't care for it at all. The manager was great and took the potato and the corn off our bill. Would definitely give it another try and order differently next time. read more

The service is outstanding. We dine here maybe 3-4 times per year but the employees still remember us. Today the owner was so happy to see us. Went out of his way to welcome us back. Then he bought us drinks. We go more often across the street. And see the owners there often. They don't acknowledge us and have never offered to buy us drinks. Customer service goes a long way. We probably won't go back to the "other" place and visit here more often. Steak and oysters were awesome! read more

We have had delicious meals and excellent service at other restaurants, but nothing compares to what we experienced tonight at this location! It was my husbands 61st birthday. I got 6 pm reservation and requested a Long Island Iced Tea to be waiting for him. It was! Our server, Avalon, was superb! Sweet and very attentive to our every need. I'm not much for words but I was blown away by everyone and everything. Staff, ambiance, food, drinks, and vibe was great.

My wife and I celebrated out wedding anniversary there and had a great experience. Blue Point Oysters for an appetizer we're excellent. We were determined to get a bottle of wine for dinner but their cocktail menu was just to good to pass up. Julia our waitress was professional and timely. We sat inside next to a window but would like to try a booth next time to get a better view of the open kitchen. Great atmosphere and menu selection if you want a aged steak. I used to love this place but started to notice the favoritism to certain people. We came in a year ago for an anniversary and brought a bottle of wine. We called before coming in to make sure we could bring the wine. After we were seated, someone came out and very loudly told us our wine was not approved. Absolutely spectacular. From start to finish, the dining experience was excellent. This is my second visit - my first was with a group of race drivers after we raced at Road Atlanta. This time, it was a family event to celebrate my son's birthday. Ambience - modern steakhouse with an open kitchen. Very nice. Service - incredible. our server was on top of everything and had answers for all our questions. Plus, very knowledgeable on wine - we walked through a number fo bottles I was thinking of until we settled on one that would work for all dishes ordered. From selecting a table that worked for our group of 4 and gave us a nice view of the kitchen to throwing in a free desert for my son's birthday - the service was spot on. Food - steak, steak and more steak. Oh my can they cook a steak at CCK. We had a filet, a NY strip, a Cajun rib-eye and a Delmonico aged rib eye. No complaints and lots of smiles. Sides are ample and tasty. Price - its a high end steakhouse. Expect it to be pricey. But worth every penny. Overall - if you're anywhere near Braselton and want a steak, this is your place. This was a fantastic meal meant for a celebration! We had multiple appetizers which included huge shrimp cocktail, bacon wrapped scallops with a sweet sauce, baked oysters and HUGE potato quarters as fries. I chose the Filet Mignon for my entree. I ordered my filet medium well. The outside was just a bit over seared. But the inside was cooked perfectly. Most likely due to the large party size that we had. I also tried the baked mashed potatoes, which came in an iron skillet, OMG, so good. For dessert, I had a few bites of the New York cheesecake and a few bites of strawberry and raspberry. So good. My boyfriend and I came here for Valentines Day dinner. The front door was a bit hard to find, they're attached to a small market-type place. Upon entry, the decor perfectly matched the aesthetic of the restaurant. It's sort of an upscale country feel. We started off with cocktails, the Mint to Be and PearBerry Martini were phenomenal! The PearBerry Martini was a creative mixture of flavors that work perfectly together. For the appetizer, we ordered the Bourbon Glazed Thick Cut Bacon. It was very good, just not excellent. For $12 for two pieces of bacon, you expect excellent. We ordered steaks for dinner. The Delmonico Ribeye (his) and the Petite New York Strip (mine). The ribeye was much better than the new york strip. The new york strip was very tough and lacking in flavor. I've had new york strips for close to the same price, of much higher quality. We also ordered the sautéed mushrooms as a side, those were delicious! Lastly, our waiter was not attentive at all and seemed annoyed by our presence. I understand that it was Valentines day and the waiters were busy, but he only stopped by our table 3 times. To take our drink order, our appetizer and dinner order, and to give us our check. For this price point, I expect much higher quality attentiveness and friendliness. This restaurant is great to go to if you live nearby, and don't feel like driving over an hour to Atlanta on a Friday night. Would I go back? Probably not. I'll drive a little longer to get a better meal and service. read more

Originally had reservations at Canoe in Vinings for dinner but didn't want to travel that far after the week. We decided to stay local and try Cotton Calf Kitchen. It was an amazing experience! So glad to found this gem so close to home. Service was impeccable! Food was mouth watering! The shrimp cocktail was HUUUGE!!! Oysters were delicious! The other couple with us got steaks & really enjoyed them as well. Our server was professional & attentive to us. The only surprise was she misquoted the Daily Special price, which was $10.00 MORE than originally discussed... but she made it right. The food was great. The reason for the low review is because of a staff member. The young girl with the braids was rude and had a miserably horrible attitude. Despite having a reservation and being the legit first couple at the restaurant, she was harsh and gave off a nasty energy as if she didn't want us there.
