Have not been here for almost two months, because the last time was such a disappointment. Came in tonight before 6 pm waited almost 45 minutes for food and it arrives with just two pork chops on a saucer, because they were out of baked potatoes just like the last time. I might not have been as disappointed if they had informed me before my food was delivered. The manager said he would take the potato off the bill, but he said that last time too and it didn't happen. The food is consistently good. I love their Fried Green Tomatoes. I work near this location and have gone about 5-6 times. I plan to return frequently. They have great lunch specials and healthy options that are a little less "home cooking" but also the delicious comfort food that so many people enjoy. They have the Dr. Pepper cake which is amazing, but they also have this butter cake that comes with drizzled caramel and it's so yummy! Well, first off I wish I had read the reviews before my visit. We went in the afternoon missed the lunch, there were only about 8 active tables. Order chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak, both were soggy as if just coming out of a microwave! I was about 3/4 finished with my lunch when the waitress came over and removed my plate from under my hand that was holding a roll! When I complained stating I was still eating, she say well she had touched my plate so now it belonged to her! The service was terrible! Will not be back! It is more than just poor management, and new people working a new job, this place just has no limits to their bad manners. read more

Stood at the front while a waiter looked at us and turned away like he didn't see us. Finally had to put my hand up and start waving to get anyone to come over and seat us. Then after we were seated, read the whole menu and then the waitress starts to clean off the table next to us without acknowledging us and walks off, still no drinks or a hello from any of the wait staff. We experienced dinner at the Wylie location for the second time this evening. Being the evening before Christmas Eve, business was brisk and the restaurant was out of chicken and dumplings and rolls and other food items that we were considering, but the food was, nevertheless, scrumptious. A very bright spot was our server, Karen W. Karen was very attentive to our needs and most apologetic on behalf of the store regarding food items that were sold out. This place is a joke. It's near our home and we like the food (when we get it) so we keep giving it another chance. Not really sure why. Our last few visits have been absolutely terrible. It would surprise me that anyone would return had they had the same serve we have. There is NO teamwork. No one is proactive. Every seems very under-trained and they always have new employees. They have been on a wait the last 2 times we were there with half their tables empty. Tea refills are a thing of the past. After 1 hour we left after not having gotten our food. Another time we left after 25 minutes because we had only gotten our drinks and couldn't locate the waiter to take our order. My husband went to go ask a manager for help (she was busy closing out tickets at the To go counter, very important when your restaurant is on a wait and every single server clearly needs help) and she walked off and asked some girl to help us, but she never came by. My family and I have been to this location 3 times in the past two months. The food is very good, however, the service makes it an overall bad experience. The last time my husband and I, both got sandwiches for lunch. I bet we waited a good 45 minutes to an hour for our food to come out of the kitchen. I was constantly having to track down my waitress for drink refills. The shift manager finally came over and explained that my husbands burger was "raw'. Wha? I hope that it was raw when you started cooking it an hour ago!!! I think our order got lost or something. No food was comped. Service was way too slow. Always slow service. Food OK. Tired of this place already. They need to learn how to speed this up and waiting staff needs to be more attentive to drinks and tables. read more

Went there for lunch today and ordered the chicken fried chicken. Service was fine, that's not my issue. I guess because I came in at lunch I was automatically served the lunch portion aka a child's plate. It was basically a chicken strip covered in gravy, a small scoop of mashed potatoes and about 20 pieces of fried okra. This was my first time visiting so maybe I didn't know that you have to specify you would like the adult size meal. The waitress offered to get me the bigger portion but I did not want to wait. We had to try this out at least once. We will never be back. Everything besides the cheese sticks were cold. Got the skillet cornbread and the butter wouldn't even melt, rolls were cold. I want to like this new Wylie restaurant, but I just can't! I've tried it twice in the first week it has opened and I truly hope they get it together and start making food that tastes like food should. Everything about this restaurant is RUSHED. Again, I know they are new and training. The food is just barely okay. Nothing tastes like a chef who cares is making it. First lunch was fried pickles, meatloaf, a blob of mashed potatoes so dense it nearly broke my fork and canned green beans. Dessert was good - Dr Pepper Cake. The service was rushed and my friend literally had her fork in her hand, going down for a bite of cake when the waitress asked if she could take it away. Dinner tonight was my much awaited chicken and dumplings (bland and mushy), salad which was fine, good black eyed peas and good broccoli rice casserole. Not kidding, wait staff tried to clear our table so many times that I finally said no one is touching anything! I said this tongue in cheek, but meant it. A waiter told us that they are not allowed to go back in the kitchen without clearing at least a plate and implied that he had been sent out to the dining room to collect dishes so they would have enough. I repeated back to him that they were running out of dishes and he said yes!!! I will compliment the hostess station folks. They do a great job managing a very busy hostess stand. read more

All the food is made fresh daily. The staff is friendly, especially Allie and Jasmine! They always take care of me when I come in for lunch.

I have been to many Cotton Patches on the area and this chain has always been a favorite. But this location is not only the worst CP i have been too, but one of the worst restaurants.. It seemed like everyone that worked there was fresh of the street and never worked at a restaurant. Service was bad and very slow. Took 20 minutes to get rolls. It was over 30 minutes to get salads and we have to keep reminding them. Then the orders come out wrong and they were cold... Just terrible all the way around read more

Acted like 18 minutes shouldn't have been a big deal for chips and salsa. Wow! Even the cheapest and slowest of places can get some chips and salsa out pretty quick. And then to add to that, he said, oh and your food was next, it would be only another 20 minutes if we could wait. Wow! Again the manager tonight, 9/30, 8:30PM CST, acted like the amount of time it would take was no big deal and I should be happy about it. They did try to offer a peace offering, wanted to send coupons to us for our trouble. Been there done that. Use them and you just get as frustrated as you are at the time they offer them. When businesses resort to giving away their product, there is a huge problem. They were not busy, had numerous tables open. The managers all seemed more focused on the food and kitchen instead of working the floor. The kitchen was slow. They were plating the orders about every 15 minutes. Manager tonight was nice enough, but absolutely clueless. Tried to argue with me and acted like I should be happy with what I was getting in the time frame we were supposed to get it. Eaten here twice - the first experience was good - food was excellent as was the service - one of the best beer battered fish fry I have tasted - light, crunchy and the fish was flaky. The second time was a disappointment - the servers appeared stressed and not having a good time - just overwhelmed. Food was okay but nothing outstanding and one of our entrees was delivered way late - it was comp'ed by the manager so that was nice. Reading the other reviews it appears they are having difficulties starting up. My guess with our experience in differing food quality is related to the kitchen staff not being consistent. I'm updating my rating to reflect the customer service I've received since my previous post. I received a call from the GM who had made multiple attempts to get in touch with me and to her credit, kept trying until she reached me. She sent me a certificate to come try them again so we did. This time, I ordered the pot roast and hubby ordered the salmon. My regular size pot roast was a very good amount and was a decent pot roast. The carrots and potatoes that came with it were- eh. Tasted like they'd been sitting there awhile and the carrots were pretty withered up, but thankfully there weren't many anyway. Hubby said his salmon was good, though slightly pink inside still. He also got the sweet potato fries and they were good, I got the baked squash and it was really good. Joel G was our server and was EXCELLENT! Perfect service from him! So between the server and the GM, I felt like I had to up my rating. Bad food experiences will happen, to me it's how you handle it afterwords and both of them made it a better experience. My husband and I tried Cotton Patch for a 2nd time...and for the last time tonight. So tonight, we thought we'd try one more visit. It's so disappointing. The restaurant facility is new and nice with so much potential. We arrived at 7:45 pm on a Thursday night. Parking lot was fairly full. We both ordered chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans. Steak was good, still can't beat Babes. Potatoes were runny. Green beans were ok. Big disappointment is that for an hour our server apologized multiple times about the rolls saying they would be out shortly. We never received rolls during one hour+. No one else was being served rolls either - only cold cornbread. We asked 3 times for rolls. I felt bad for the server, she was continually apologizing for food delay and no rolls. Evidently they stopped baking rolls for the evening or they ran out. The table next to us complained about the burned meat on the burger they received. They chose not to pay for burger. There are definitely problems in the kitchen. Meals are slow leaving the kitchen. There is no attention to details. There seem to be way too many servers. Immature high school servers needing guidance. At one point 8 servers were at the hostess station playing around for 15+ minutes. One server threw a cap in the air which hit a customer. The manager never looked up from the back of the restaurant to see the kids (servers) playing in the restaurant with customers needing attention. There is no management minding this restaurant. We watched, the manager was totally disinterested in the customers needs and the servers work ethic. Our first experience at Cotton Patch a month ago was lackluster. Husband had an "ok" salad. I had the veggie plate. Disappointing. No flavor in veggies. Worse squash casserole I've ever had. The squash casserole from the Black-Eyed Pea Restaurant far surpasses the one served here. Don't think we'll return. This is the worse Cotton Patch Café we've ever experienced. The manager should be replaced if this restaurant is to be successful. It's painful to watch. There is no maturity with servers or decorum. A few servers try ...but most of the servers and the restaurant are a hot mess. This restaurant could be a gold mine with the right leadership and management. I predict it's inevitable they will lose business. For this type of food, we will return to Ballard Street, Black-eyed Pea, Texas Roadhouse or Garland Babes Chicken Place read more

We ate at Cotton Patch yesterday about two p.m., and think you can ignore the negative reviews! It was about three quarters full at that time of day, so would say it is a fairly popular place! The service was prompt and friendly, and the food served promptly. Delicious yeast rolls are served while you wait. The menu has something for just about everyone. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was excellent. They also have a good selection of sides which includes tasty vegetables. The to go portions are ridiculously small. They forgot ranch and salsa. Full order of fried mushrooms had eight small mushrooms. The full order of pickles had about ten small slices. I would hate to see the half orders! They hide the tiny sides under the protein (super fish and country fried steak) While doing so, they put green beans with liquid in with the fried fish and shrimp, then it was all soggy. Reading the other posts, I see this is continuous. I had hoped their to go order fulfillment had gotten better. Lesson learned. I have started seeing how empty they are during lunch... guessing they will close sooner than later. It's a damn shame since the standard business model works.
