This was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a long time. I placed an online curb side order. When I got there the slots were all full. The sign said call I called and either got a busy or it would ring so long it would disconnect. I saw people going in and then leaving with nothing and occasionally someone would leave with a bag. The lady next to me got out and came back out. I ask her what was going on. She said her order was supposed to be ready 45 min before, they were not answering and when she went in they had not even begun it. They took her name and said they would refund her later. I had my dog with me not expecting to get out so that was not an option for me. An employee came out and started talking to cars but had no idea what was going on. Waited an hour and a half for food. Never came. Wasn't even busy just kept getting the excuse "we're just backed up right now." They Would not even tell us where our order was in the line. My whole family had to eventually just leave without eating to make it to where they needed to go. read more

I can see why other locations receive 4+ stars and the Wylie received 2 or less. Its the non-caring staff. We had to ask for drink refills the entire time. Food here is mediocre at best. Salad that came out was frozen and non edible. Very poor service, especially since we came during non peak time and there were more staff running around than customers. The man in the white shirt (I assume was the manager on duty) was too busy chatting with waitstaff to even acknowledge us as we walked out the door, much less walk the tables to see if everything is alright. We dined here sunday march 12 around 2. There are too many good places to eat in the area than spend 100 dollars at a place like this. Poorly managed, poorly trained staff, food so-so. Visited this one this past Wednesday evening, a little before 6 p.m. Wednesday's special is chopped steak dinner. At 6 p.m., my wife ordered a chopped steak dinner... "We're out", the waitress said. I asked, "Chopped steak is the special today and you're out at 6 p.m.?" "Well, we're a fresh made kitchen and what we make in the morning is all we have" said she. "At noon or later, you thought what you had left was enough for the evening crowd and you're out by 6?" said I. Shrug. Okay, what is chopped steak? Anyone... anyone at all? It's hamburger meat! They couldn't throw together some ground chopped steak when they saw they were running low? Oh my... what incredibly poor food management. So, now my wife tries to find something else to order and goes with the Triple Grilled Cheese Sandwich and fries. I go with the Grilled Cajun Duo with baked potato and chicken tortilla soup. After a few minutes, the waitress arrives with my chicken tortilla soup. As there is no spoon in the table silverware, I ask for a spoon (really, she brought out soup with no spoon!). After a couple of minutes, she brings the order for a table next to ours, I get her attention and mention that I still have no spoon. Some 5 minutes after I received the then tepid soup, I get the spoon with which to eat it. The soup was okay; I prefer a little higher broth to goodies ratio and this one is packed with some chicken and a lot of filler (rice and corn, bits of chopped tomato) and not much broth, so not my favorite by any stretch. The entrees arrive and the Grilled Cajun Duo is tasty, just the right amount of spice, quite good. Baked potato was good too, cooked properly (i.e. hadn't been sitting in an oven or under a lamp for 3 hours). According to my wife, the Triple Grilled Cheese Sandwich, despite being overpriced, was a disaster. The menu says pepper jack cheese is on the sandwich; my wife reports there was no taste at all of any pepper jack. So, either there was none on the sandwich or some poor excuse for PJ. The "house spread" mentioned on the menu tasted suspiciously like ma-yo-naise, the gutter slime of the low end restaurant industry. To boot, the Texas Toast sized bread was burned. So for, $10+, you get a mouthful of charcoal, mayonnaise and possibly two cheeses. This was our 3rd visit to this location and after suffering two visits now that featured tasteless food and poor store and service management, this was our final visit. There are some good items on the menu I'm sure (chips and queso are good), but I've invested enough in trying to find them without much success. read more

It had been many years since I last went to Cotton Patch. I went there today with my father and had a very satisfying turkey and dressing Meal which was on special for the day. On the side I had broccoli rice casserole, which was the most perfect complement to this meal. So turkey was very moist and flavorful, the dressing was perfect. The only real downside to our meal was the brand new waitress who didn't know how to put on even a fake smile. But we left very satisfied and full. read more

Such a sad shame. Food is great and very well priced but man the service is horrible. We have been twice now with equally bad service both times. We sat for 20 min before we even got drinks. Then waited over an hour for our food. It wasn't even that busy. Waiter brought out our drinks and mixed up our Dr pepper and coke every single time. I want so badly to go because the food is great but I just don't think I'll be back unless they can get better service. Keep an eye on the host staff, a group of people the same size as ours complained that a table was open and not being used and were immediately sat. They came in about 15 min after we did and had 5 parties ahead of them. The chips and queso took 10 minutes to come out and our chicken order came out 30 seconds after, which were somehow cold anyway. There was an upcharge for the way we ordered our sides that wasn't discuss during the order and the waiter couldn't seem to remember our drink order when we needed refills (water and sweet tea). All in all, enough things went wrong tonight to make us want to wait at least 6 months before coming back. This restaurant is just too new to consider dining at and needs more experience in the waiting/hosting staff. read more

This location is obviously pretty new, and room for improvement. Went last night for a to-go order, and wasn't very pleased. One of my sides was a loaded baked potato, only to get home and I have a plain potato, nothing to make it loaded. Salad with no dressing. Had to ask for rolls and cornbread, and of course didn't get butter. I've been dining at cotton patch for years, and by far, this had to be the most unpleasant experience. read more

This is my first time at this location and probably my last. Went in ordered 2 chicken fried steak dinners to go didn't get gravy or rolls. Comments to the staff said they were out of rolls and cornbread this is a restaurant for Christ sake. What I saw was a poorly trained staff with a lazy manager. TRAIN YOUR STAFF ON PROPER HYGIENE!!!!! I go to the Rockwall location quite often for the strawberry pecan salad but since moving to a new city, the Wylie location is a bit closer. I drove 15 minutes just so that when I got there the to-go girl could scratch and pat her weave with her 9 inch nails, repeatedly touch and wipe her face and then not not wash her hands when putting my order together inside of the kitchen that is exposed to the restaurant. While I'm not typically a germ-a-phobe, THAT was just nasty. FIRST OF ALL, there are two places long nails are not permitted 1. The food industry 2. The medical field. Long nails harvest tons of germs and bacteria. So when I called Kevin (the GM) he was rude, spoke over me several times and no help whatsoever! I will pursue this refund and see it through, Meanwhile, please train your staff on the proper hygiene and nail length for working with and around food and to whomever it may concern, Please train Kevin on the correct way to speak to PAYING customers. read more

Really good food. Was craving home cooking and we got the meatloaf, green beans and potatoes. The green beans have bacon in them, which makes them excellent. The meatloaf sauce is really good. I've never written a review based on anything other than food and service, but this is ridiculous... I sat at the bar amongst the unorganized anticipated chaos of a new restaurant. Managers kept yelling at the staff to "hurry up, hurry up" constantly belittling employees, telling each employee they were screwing up. A black guy was my bartender ( I think?) and stood there and yelled at each employee walking by like a drill sargent , he didn't try to help or lift a finger. Everything he yelled was unnessecary and wasn't accomplishing anything. Extremely negative environment. I overheard employees talking about working 14 hours and getting 10 minutes to eat. Talking about working 15 days straight with no days off... Food was great, but treat your employees like humans, not a real cotton patch with slave drivers. read more

First time and had a nice selection of Southern comfort food. Had the baja fish tacos and good. The tortillas were hard on the outside so definitely not fresh. The chips were on the salty side for me but the queso was very good. Wife had the BLT with avocado and was excellent. read more

After talking my co worker into having lunch there in Wylie Tx. She finally agreed, after ordering the king ranch chicken casserole I picked up our to go order and got back to work. First impression was it did not look like the picture on the website, it looked like slop more like a stew. Taste was very bland and to top it off, my coworker found a auburn color hair in her food. I called the manager immediately and explained the situation. He was apologetic and said he would mail a free dinner to her. Well that never happened and never heard back from the manager. My husband and I just had lunch at the Cotton Patch Wylie location about 45 minutes ago and had the WORST experience I've ever had at a restaurant. EVER! We had a brand new server, which is completely fine, but it was just one thing after another the entire time we were there. My husband ordered a shrimp basket and I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of tortilla soup. My husband's food was brought out to him at a decent time, but we continued to wait for mine (at least 15 min after they brought his out). In the mean time, our server never came by to check on us. A table of 6 next to us ordered about 10 minutes after we did and receieved ALL of their food before us. Another server finally asked if we were ok and we told her that we still hadn't received my food. So I saw her tell the manager. Then another server came over and askef what was going on (our server has yet to come over yet). Then about 5-10 min later the manager brings my food and explains that the server is very new, but doesn't really apologize. So we finish our food and we're just waiting for our check because he has still not come over (but continues to pass us to his other tables). He finally comes over and asks "are you still waiting for something?" And we just tell him we're waiting for our check. So he goes and gets it and drops it off and of course, it's incorrect. And not just one thing, but literally the entire check was messed up. So one of the other servers passes by that had come over earlier and we tell her it's incorrect. So she goes and gets it corrected and brings it back. This entire time, not one manager comes over and apologizes or says that they will accommodate in any way. We paid for our entire meal. We aren't big complainers what so ever, so we didn't say anything. But I think that is completely unacceptable and terrible service, especially since I know at least one of the managers knew there was an issue. I'm sorry, but if you know you have a server that is "super new" and there is an issue with a customer, as a manager, I would definitely be keeping a close eye on him/her to make sure the customers are taken care of. But that was unfortunately not the case. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back. read more

The service is incredibly slow. Don't get the all you can eat catfish because you get your 1st plate and 30 minutes later I still haven't gotten a refill. Now that I got two more pieces it's not the cajun that I ordered. This was our third attempt to eat here because it was a good idea to put in a restaurant that's different but they obviously won't stay in business very long when that can't get their act together. The ONLY reason I'm giving this place another chance is because I'm in from out of town and my son really likes it so, I'm here for him. We actually came by last night (8-10-22) and was told it would be a 15 minute wait. The wait areas (both inside and outside) were full. After 30 minutes, I finally went inside because I began to notice the crowd outside was gone. Once inside, I noticed about 7 people sitting in the wait area. I went up to the hostess and asked how far down the list we were and that we were told 15 minutes for a table for two which had now grown to 30 minutes. She apologized and mentioned something about the kitchen being way behind. After another 10 minutes, and the hostess continually calling out names of people who had given up and left, I finally walked to the kitchen entrance and asked to speak to the manager. As I was waiting for the manager, I noticed several large grocery bags lined up full of food and a short line of people waiting in the call-in area. I assume that all of this to-go business made a huge impact on the kitchen which is why they weren't able to keep up. Nevertheless, after witnessing this, I just told the waitress to forget about the manager and we left. I sure hope the food today makes up for the horrible experience last night. read more

I LOVE Cotton Patch and frequent the Allen and Rockwall locations. Always great food and service. So when the Wylie location opened up, I was really happy to have one so close. The problem? Consistently horrible service over two visits in two weeks. And the order was wrong both times. And with this last visit? The all-time worst ribeye I have ever had. It was marbled....with tons of gristle, tough and not juicy. I want so much to give them my business, but am believing they will be mediocre at best. At least when it is busy, the staff that stands around joking or playing with their smart phones can turn their attention to the customers. Very sad. read more

My wife and I were allowed to leave the restaurant in Wylie when we asked to be moved away from a large party ( 20 or more )of young mothers and children. Waitress was immediately upset, even though my had been very polite. We were told to go back up front and someone would come get us. Although 4 booths were open and available we were told table only. Wife has back problems so we said we would just go somewhere else. Won't be back, and will advise friends, and post on facebook. Poor, poor service. read more

The last three times we went our food took forever coming out, they gave our food to another table, and the last time the food was so over cooked we couldn't eat it! Excellent food and service! Dakota was a wonderful server. We had mozzarella sticks, mac & cheese sticks, and cheese fries to start. Everything was brought out promptly and drinks were never left empty. My mom and I tried the fish & chips and it was DELICIOUS. My dad enjoyed the turkey dinner, which is certainly unique since most places don't offer a similar meal. We also had cobbler for dessert...mmm! Another bonus is they have a bar here that can seat people, as well as clean bathrooms. So, I'd say step by! read more

My wife and I are new to the area and can honestly say that this is our favorite restaurant to go to we sometimes eat there as much as three times a week. Our waitress, Mary, is such a delight and has a knack for making you feel at home. We just love her and her cheerfulness and demeanor. We are her blue crayon customers. My only complaint is that they only have the chicken fried bacon for a short time and is one of our favorite appetizers. read more

I can't see how this place could be any better. My Dad and I stopped in for lunch during their all you can eat catfish on a Friday- he'd been there a few times before, but this was my first time, and it was amazing! Our waitress, Sophie, was an absolute doll, and absolutely on top of everything. She was with other tables and ours, and I can tell you, I never got to the bottom of my lemonade. Our food came out hot and fresh, with very little wait time. I got a chicken fried steak with squash, and it was melt-in-your-mouth-tender, with that smack of crunch that was just perfect. The manager even came over to say hello and welcome us back- it was very kind of him to even listen to our drown-out conversation. I'm so excited to go back again on my husbands birthday, and drag some friends along. This meal was exceptional, clean, and even kind of quiet for such a large lunch crowd.
