Long overdue review here. During the 2023 winter my heater went out. I was desperate to get someone to come out and find the problem since my family and I had gone several cold days and nights without heat. Sean came out within 2 days of me calling and found that our gas valve needed to be replaced and even changed our return vent filters. The price was fair. He gave me some great advice about maintenance. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when my AC stopped working, I reached out to Councell Heating & AC again and they suggested before they come out for me to check my return vent filters, and yes, they needed to be replaced. Now the AC works with no issues. The advice saved me money on the service call. I have added a quarterly reminders to replace/check filters on my phone calendar. He says he's working in the area so can swing by on the same day. We totally got lucky! He was able to diagnose the AC issue right away, it required a tuneup and adding some Freon. They came the next day, opened up the system and said "oh it's just the fuse, thank God it's an easy job" He popped in a new fuse and left. When we tried to use the AC it wasn't working so I contacted our property manager again. This time he referred us to Councell Heating & Air Conditioning owned and operated by Sean Councell. He immediately communicated when he will be in to diagnose the system. Sean explained that the most important part of his job is to get to the root of the problem instead of "quick fixes". Which the other company did. Sean explained his methodology on how he solves for the issue. He found the source of the problem by going through his proper due diligence. The work consisted of replacing the transformer, re-wiring the system and replacing the AC contacts. After performing the work, Sean also shared his best advice on air purifiers and filters. I can't believe it. The reviews are right. This is an honest and generous business. Sean is generous with his time and energy. Our furnace was intermittently not working, then wouldn't blow hot air. The ignitor would come on, but flames wouldn't catch. He suspected the main IC board, but before replacing it for a few hundred $, he decided to power it down and reset it. After turning it on 3x and it working fine, he choose not to charge us anything!! He asked us to keep an eye on it. If it stops working, he'll then try the new circuit board. Wow. After an awfully cold night and our baby who woke up many times throughout the night, we realized the issue when we woke up and saw that the house was only in the 50s! The heater was blowing out cold air instead of hot air and it wouldn't stop blowing even when the thermostat was sent to off. After countless ways trying to get in touch with our management company (that's for another review), we finally reached them and we were told the landlord was coming over to check it out - a pointless endeavor especially during covid times. So of course, right away, he said "oh yeah, I can't fix that." So we were sent the name of Councell Heating. The property management company never told us if an appointment was actually set up. Again, this wasted precious time. I called Councell Heating and left two voicemails, but couldn't get anyone on Saturday in the late afternoon/early evening). Their website actually says they're open until 9 pm, but no one called us that day unfortunately. We just wanted to know if we had an appointment or if we needed to make one. Sean, the owner, though called us first thing on Sunday morning after he got the messages. I had mentioned we had a small baby, which he mentioned when he called us back to say that he completely understood as he has kids himself. He said he would be able to rearrange his appointments on Monday and see us himself on Monday morning, which was really outstanding. I really appreciated that! On his call, he inquired what system we had and the error code it was displaying. This was a great move because when he came, he was prompt and speedy! And best of all, it needed a new part, and he actually had it with him, so we didn't need anyone to come back. We had a working heater in easily under an hour. I didn't meet him in person, as my husband handled the repair appointment, but I did talk to him on the phone and he's really friendly and a genuine guy. He's definitely someone I would do business with again and happily recommend! One tiny qualm, although he did wear a wear a mask, my husband said he sometimes lowered it to speak, which we're not okay with. Hopefully, maybe he'll see this and take a little more caution to keep his mask up and in place. These Covid Times are strange, and we all have to do our part to make everyone feel safe. :) I can't speak to the pricing since we're renting, and the billing didn't go to us (thankfully! one perk about renting). read more

Sean and crew installed a new furnace, evaporator coil and AC unit. It was almost a full day affair but his crew did an awesome job. So very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. I always do a lot of research before major purchases so I went over everything with Sean and he adjusted a few things but all in all, a very fair process. My AC and furnace were original with the home so 20 years old and ready to be replaced. His price was just about what I thought it would be and considering the customer service was excellent along with his 10 year warranty, there was no need to negotiate. It was a fair deal.... The reason I found out I didn't review him is last night the AC went out so I left a message on YELP, and Sean promptly returned it the next morning, had his Tech Scott come over who was very efficient. Turns out it was a capacitor so nothing they did wrong, just a faulty part. He replaced it for free within 5 minutes and all is perfect again. He provided me with a very thorough explanation on why he recommended Day & Night. As you'll read in all the other reviews, the pricing is about 1/3 less than the competition. He also came with a recommendation from my neighbor who used him for repairs a few years ago. The experience with the crew was great. They're all young, but know their stuff. They were efficient with disposing of my old unit and installing the new one. Everything went well until the very end. We had problems with the thermostat of all things. It kept shutting off after a few minutes of running the unit. It ended up taking multiple trips, which Sean was more than willing to send his service tech Scott out to help fix it. There were a few things that went wrong and it took about 3-4 trips to get everything right. Since I deal with construction sales, I fully understand that things don't often go right the first time. But the true test of a company is how do they respond when there are problems. Sean always remained patient and willing to do whatever it took to make things right. In the end I feel comfortable fully giving my recommendation to Councell Heating and Air. They're all great people and they'll do whatever it takes to make things right in the end.
