We have used Country Acres Kennels for several years. The staff has always been friendly and caring toward our pets. The pups always come home and want to crash out for a couple days from all the play time and bark time with other pups. We have always used the outside kennel for our large dogs and inside for our small dogs. Our large dogs have always been inside dogs at home but seem to enjoy the outside time. The kennels are always clean. The play yards are so big and our pets get excited seeing them. Very affordable too which allows us to afford extra play times for them. We have kenneled at a vet before too, which did cost more, and actually when staying for boarding at the vet came home sick and needed meds. Not the case here as they are not around sick animals. We also used their dog training for our Ruger, when we rescued him. We learned a lot in the class time and actual hands on training in the group setting. I really did not want to do this, I had hoped for better. I boarded my two dogs there for 9 days( was originally planned for 10 days). Nadia (Small Husky 3 years old) and Freddy ( 9 month old dachshund). When I went to drop them off, I asked for them to be boarded indoors because neither need to be outside for long periods of times in the heat and the person working the counter argued with me that Nadia would like being outside more. Even if she would, I am paying for a service and I expect to be given what I asked for. I finally just gave into the guy with the guarantee that they would pay close attention to behaviors and temperatures to make sure to move her indoors. When I would call to check up on them, the phone would just ring and ring. I finally connected with someone and waited on hold for 30 mins. When I called again from a different phone and asked to not be put on hold, I got yelled at. I understand people aren't wanting to work right now but maybe try not to be rude or try and staff up. The amount of dogs I saw at drop of and the amount of workers can not be enough supervision. They also didn't seem to know what was going on with my pets. When I called for a update the response was "let me check" ( maybe try progress reports) ( I wish they had cams to view your pets, or sent photos something to ease the wondering of what is happening. Here comes the worst part of it all!!! I picked them up a day early, which they were great about getting them ready a day early. My poor Husky had torn up ears from fly's, the guy at the counter said "This is normal", UHHHH no sir this is not normal. This is caused by horrible and nasty environments. My vet also does not understand how it happened so fast with out anyone noticing. Not only is the environment not well kept or treated for fly's, the workers aren't keeping eyes on the pets. After a very costly vet visit today, that I schedule after their return home on purpose because of the terrible reviews. Both of my babies have Bordetella( yes they are vaccinated, means others aren't), major cuts, fly bites and Freddy has a sprained leg. I suggest you find another place to kennel or take your pets for day care. My vet and myself are reporting this facility with hope that they clean it up, its a great concept just all around dirty and not well kept. read more

Horrible Experience - I wish I could give 0 stars. I visited this place 2 times before taking my pet. Once to tour, once to take shot records and reserve dates. Each time I asked that my dog be groomed. Hair cut, nails trimmed, ears checked, bathe before I came to pick him up from vacation. This was told again when I dropped him off and when I called to check on him twice while I was gone. IT WASN'T DONE! I get there to pick him up he is half wet and back in general population after a so called bath. They were so disorganized, people waiting everywhere, too many animals. I took one look at my puppy and knew something was wrong. He looked like the very life was leaving him. Took him to vet and sure enough he was very sick. I dropped him off vibrant and healthy, only to come back to a sickly pet that couldn't make it up thre stairs. Called on a Friday as new boarding clients. Was told to come in Saturday for a tour as they had opening for my requested dates. Went in Sat. am (an hour drive for us) and we were told they could board our dogs outside. OUTSIDE??! I said no thank you then they proceeded to say they can't board a 100# dog. The woman was rude and all of that could have been told to me when I called the day before inquiring about their services. Yes, I had given my dogs breed info and was not told they would be unable to accommodate. And what kind of place boards dogs outside in the June Texas heat...horrible! read more

I left my dog here for 20 days while I was away. I came back home 1 day early and picked up my dog. When I got my dog back, he was very timid and looked underweight from when I left him. My dog was soaked in waste, had a gouge out of his nose and he was hacking, like trying to get mucous out of his throat. I have been debating whether or not to post this, but given the response (or lack thereof) that I am receiving from those involved, I feel I have no other option other than to publically warn people about Country Acres Kennels in Arlington, Texas, and their very concerning practices when it comes to the health and safety of the dogs being boarded there. Last week, Wolf was boarded at this facility. I had done a lot of research before choosing this place. I had toured the facility, met with the owner, spoken with staff and clients and read lots of reviews. I thought I had found a good facility. Last Sunday, I picked Wolf up and took him home, and when we got home I saw that he was limping on his back leg. I chalked it up to a dog who had overexurted himself at a new place while playing all week. However, the next day I noticed that Wolf's neck was hurting him quite a bit, to the point to where he was yelping and crying when I went to take his collar off. I rushed him to the vet, and thankfully his vet was able to get us in as a walk in. We weighed Wolf and I was shocked to learn that he had lost 7 pounds while at the boarding facility. I know this, because I had him vet checked before I dropped him off to make sure he was in good health. After examining him, my vet was very blunt in her concern for his condition and said she suspected mistreatment of some sort due to the fact that he was in pain and had lost so much weight. She even asked if they had cameras at the facility and said I should view them if able. I called Country Acres Kennels that day (Monday) and explained the situation to them. I was courteous, and explained that my vet wanted to know what happened so that we could properly treat him. He was put on anti-inflammatory pain meds, and we needed to know what had caused the pain. I also asked if they monitored food intake, because for him to have lost that much weight he must have not been eating. I was told that since they did not give me any food back, he must have eaten it all. I countered with the obvious argument that a dog doesn't loose 7 pounds in a week if he is eating, and that someone at the facility was not doing their job if no one noted that he was not eating. I understand that dogs get stressed in new situations and may not eat. My major issue here is that no one contacted me to tell me that he was not eating, and no one even noted the fact that he wasn't eating. Also, due to the fact that Wolf is not neutered, he is not allowed in with other dogs while he's being boarded, so the pain and hurt he experienced would not have come from an altercation with another dog and only could have come from human error and/or an inadequte amount of oversight on the part of the kennel staff. I paid this kennel to take care of my dog and they failed miserably. I have contacted them four times this week, again asking for information since my vet wants to understand what happened (as do I). I have asked them to please speak with the people who fed him and handled him, as well as the person who bathed him Sunday morning who should have noticed how much pain he was in. I am always told someone will get back to me, and no one ever does. This has been an incredibly frustrating and upsetting experience. Due to his condition, I have had to cancel 3 weeks of training and put his trial prep on hold. Wolf is a working dog, and not only has it taken a toll on my emotions and finances (vet bills and paying a kennel who failed to take care of my dog), it is taking a toll on his ability to work. I have given Country Acres Kennels adequate time to act like they care and tell me what happened. Yesterday, during yet another call I placed to them, one of the managers had the gall to tell me that losing 7 pounds in one week was normal for a dog. That sent me over the edge and told me all I needed to know about their level of interest in doing the right thing. I am not sure if they are trying to cover something up by avoiding their duty to inform me of their lapse of care, or if they are simply incompetent, but their inability to provide an adequate explanation or, at the very least, an apology has caused me to decide to warn others about this facility. Do not board your dogs here and do not do business with this company. I am upset, shocked and disgusted with this situation and most of all feel horrible that I allowed such irresponsible people to care for my dog. read more

I've been dropping my dogs off here since I moved to the area in 2002. My dogs go nuts whenever we slow down to the driveway, they enjoy staying here so much. I get a written report at the end of each stay, which is a nice touch. It's nothing fancy: no indoor air conditioned hotel rooms, massage, or gourmet chefs preparing meals. Country Acres Kennels offers a knowledgeable and friendly staff who care about their guests. The play areas are large, with obstacles, pools, and lots of toys. The staff will also spend time training with their guests. They also offer long-term kenneling, which I have taken advantage of at times. On Thanksgiving and Christmas, they cook up dinner for the guests that will rival anything I will eat on those days. I need to stay here. Due to my work, I travel. Sometimes a lot. Sometimes I am gone for months at a time. If I come back home for a night, they encourage me to come by and spend time in a play area with my dogs. When I pick the dogs up and they are extra squirrely, Lisa will recommend that we go to the agility area across the parking lot to wear them out some. Country Acres Kennels also offers obedience training, and has free classes throughout the month. They have a small store in the reception area where they sell dog food, treats, leashes and collars, flea and tick products, vitamins, etc. They offer grooming services, and offer pick-up and drop-off by stretch limo. This is pretty much a one-stop-shop. Next Thanksgiving, I am going to book a kennel and some playtime for myself, so I can partake in some good food, play with other dogs, and maybe get my belly rubbed. read more

In response to Jeannie P. the Business Manager's statement- We never asked for a female trainer. That's an outright lie. I asked for my money back and Mel asked us to give them another chance- so to say you were already planning on dropping us is laughable. About the behaviorally psychology class, we told Matt that we wouldn't make it because my mother in law was in the hospital- Matt the told us not to worry that, that class was pointless and he would go over the important points. We were never told about any other classes. Other than Wednesdays group lessons that Matt said we could join free of charge. Also we only complained once, one time! When our dogs feet left the ground- you can't unsee your dogs feet coming off the ground. I'm thankful for Matt's service In the Military. I respect, and admirer veterans. However that doesn't negate the fact he crossed the line and helicoptered our dog. I don't agree with fear based training. Jennie can go on and on about how much experience they have but the fact remains they didn't show us what they preach. read more

I absolutely DO NOT recommend boarding your pet here. They do not care about your pets and horribly mistreat them. We boarded our three dogs, Mitzi, Goliath, and Theo at Country Acres Kennels for one week. We picked them up and Theo had a large cut on his forehead and his nose. They told us it was just because he ran into a doghouse. They didn't even bother to notify us the day it happened. But I didn't think anything of it until we got home and the other two dogs started puking. Mitzi started vomiting blood and had bloody diarrhea. We called them to tell them the problem and they told us they would take a look at her so that "we didn't have to spend thousands at an ER". So we did and all they did was take her temperature and tell us she was completely fine and was probably just "excited." Then they tried to sell us a probiotic. I told them that I'm just going to take her to a real vet, and the guy with the red face told me "so you're gonna waste $500 on a dog that's completely fine? Do you have $500?" Having a dog is a commitment, it's not about the money, so he obviously thinks there's a price tag on dogs. I will never board here again. And I have taken my dog to the ER, I tried to take her to the vet but they told me to go to the ER because it qualifies as an EMERGENCY. And they had the audacity to tell me that Mitzi was fine and tell me she wasn't worth "at least $500." Horrible place. If you love your pet, please don't take them here. *****UPDATE: They absolutely made no call to inform us about Theo. Just re-looked at my call history to make sure. Mitzi has now been ADMITTED into the hospital, she was severely dehydrated and now needs an IV catheter and IV antibiotics. We made the right choice of putting her into the hospital. Further dehydration could have resulted into her going into shock and dying. So thanks for telling us it would have been a waste to go. Checking for a fever is not sufficient to make a diagnosis on a dog who is displaying symptoms of bloody diarrhea and vomiting. read more

I love taking my two german shepherds here. Atlas and Athena always come home happy. I have never had a bad experience with the staff. My two dogs have a little separation anxiety so they are okay with them sharing a dog run. I also request pool time and for their play times to be together since my female shepherd is not fixed. They're always accommodating and polite when I drop off, pick up, and call to reserve. I always look forward to seeing the little report card they fill out for them when it's time for them to go home. Only downfall is you are charged for Sunday even if you pick them up before noon. read more

I have taken my BMC since he was a puppy. The training is fantastic and they also offer classes for the owners. Willis is now 19 months old and I drop him off periodically when I must be out of town. Willis loves going there and the staff loves him. He is now 55 lbs and the staff is able to control him with stern warnings and affection. I appreciated everything Country Acres does. read more

I took my dog here a year ago and everyone seemed nice however that can be very misleading. I had the worst experience trying to call in to speak to someone regarding my boy. We called for two days and kept receiving their voicemail. I left a message as it prompted and on both occasions I never received a call back. I called and called and ended up going up there to see no lines and a lady ignoring phone calls. I was charged an extra day and the workers were so rude because they didn't want to have to explain their lack of professionalism. So today if figured maybe give them another chance. I call again on two occasions yet only to get the voicemail again. So I go up there. When I arrived today a couple lady's were outside smoking in front of the building in close proximity of the kennels. I felt really bad for some of those dogs who I knew could also smell that nasty smell. I guarantee any dog lover who would have witnessed what I say, would go up there and pick up their dog today. You have all that land but yet you designate your smoking area within 2 ft of the outdoor kennels? Horrible horrible? Instead of smoking outside how about attending to phone calls? If you don't believe me look to the left of the door and notice all the cigarette buds on the floor. So as we went in, They looked up my dogs records and on the front of the sheet is said in bold highlighted letters no Future boarding. The lady preceded to tell me that my dog was an escape artist and that they couldn't ensure he would not get out. That seemed very false. Seemed like an excuse to me. Seeing how I paid for my dog to be inside I found that very hard to believe. Also, why wasn't this brought to my attention the last time I picked him up? For whatever reason I didn't think twice to leave. These guys have been in business too long to be making excuses and not have all their ducks lined up. They need a reality check. If you love your dog and care about it "not escaping" don't bring your dog here. Also, if you want clear communication on how your dog is doing while boarding this place is probably not the best place to take your dog. I will never recommend this place to anyone. The price may be affordable, the setup may be decent, but the staff that takes care of the dogs is the worst I've ever encountered. I hope the owners wake up and notice how bad this staff is affecting business!! read more

They didn't feed or take care of my dog as promised. All the canned food I sent was returned unopened. They took several minutes to find her when I came to pick her up and then she was missing her collar. Why that was even taken off, I have no idea! I haven't tried the Boarding, day care or spa yet but Country Acres also has a do it yourself dog wash that I got to wash my two dirty dogs. First off, I think 3 1/2 stars is a bit more approriate. I was kinda clueless being my first time and they didn't explain much. The what to do and how? are apparently on the wall. Everything was got done minus using the clippers and depressing the anal glands (yah I know). The total was 14 a pop and we also bought a new collar for my growing black lab Cleo. Staff was okay but I'm not totally amazed, I will be back for the price, location and offers it works. Btw- pups smell soooo good. read more

We just picked up our 6 month old lab mix & feel we were mislead about her stay with them. When we went up there to check out the location they said nothing about her NOT being able to join group play due to not being spayed (We were waiting until after our vacation). So after we were told at drop-off we paid for them to take her swimming twice a day to make up for no group play....upon pick up (10 days later)they said...."oh we NEVER took her swimming....the pool is too deep" WTF....she is a 40 pound lab puppy that LOVES water...they had no problem charging us for a service they never provided....never again will we use them or recommend them to anyone. And we called them at 4:05 on Saturday and left an urgent message about being down the street and able to pick up....no return call... read more

We recently boarded our lab, Bella Hill, at Country Acres while we were out of town. This was her second boarding and it seems she had a blast because she's been sleeping like crazy. We make sure to have her groomed before picking her up too and she comes out smelling great! The folks here helped me train my Great Dane who is now a service dog. They had class room training for me and field training for both of us. I left him on Tuesdays and Thursday for day care. They let him play with the other dogs and did extra training throughout. They always greeted him by his name and helped me whenever I had questions or needed help. So awesome. Today we finally made the decision to take our fur baby Domino to get groomed and he really needed it I had been to the facilities and did the tour and talked to my husband and family about this place and I fell in love with it.. I did read all the past reviews and yes it made me uneasy but I can not let what other people's reviews make the final call in what I do with my Domino. When we took him i explained how he got lost for 5 days and we were nervous about leaving him and the sweet lady that was there listened and explained he would be in great hands. When my husband and son went to pick him up they said he was so happy and looked like he was at home there and that the staff explained everything they did with him and they explained everything in detail to my husband as to what they did and how Domino did great there.. I honestly say we were very very happy with this facilities and will be coming back again. On top of this my Domino got his shots again since we couldn't get a copy from his vet in Irving due to him retiring and my husband said they took good care of our Domino.
