I'm a purist. All I need is a sliced brisket sandwich, sauce on the side, and a glass of iced tea. The brisket today was just about perfect. That wonderful smoke aroma wafts through the entire place. My mouth waters now from the memory. I would give a solid 5 if only the pickles/onions/jalapeños had been readily accessible in the dining room. My lunch partner had a giant stuffed potato (see my photo). It looked like it weighed about 4 pounds.

This place was a surprise and a treat. Wow! The staff is so friendly and we felt so welcome. The dining area and bathrooms were nice and clean kept. The food was amazing. Some of the next BBQ this Texan has ever had! We had the brisket plate and the green bean side was fresh and delish. Also had the pulled pork stuffed potato. It was huge! The pulled pork was really flavorful with big junks of pork! Followed all that with a delicious blackberry cobbler. The chef brought out pork ribs to show them off and they did not disappoint. Definitely the star on the menu. Must try! Great stop!

half chicken plate with 2 sides

Found this hole in the wall local place on yelp on our drive and so glad i did! it's now going to be on our list of places to eat-- the inside is a good size and has a good bbq ambiance. there were a few flies that were driving me nuts but it's the summer- they should try those table fly spinner fans i've seen elsewhere. anyways, my husband enjoyed his half chicken plate and was beyond thrilled to see they had fried okra so he had potato salad and the okra. they come with the pickles, onions, bread, jalepenos. i had the 2 meat plate with brisket and sausage- i had read that brisket sometimes is dry so i specifically requested moist fatty brisket- the amount of brisket was kind of meh but it tasted good- the sausage was tasty too- i had the cole slaw which wasn't too saucy which was nice and the pinto beans. it was a nice plate of good- wish it was a little bigger as it felt more like a healthier portion but there was still plenty. for the kids we did the sausage on a stick and some mac n cheese- the mac n cheese was plenty big even though we got the smallest side. good prices for bbq though! the staff were super friendly- my husband even mentioned how neat it was that they used a camping plate and cup for his meal. overall, this is a great local place in a small town to check out!

Curious about there reviews stopped by with my family. It's a nice place with cute decor! Walking in You order and pay first have a seat and food is brought to you luckily there was not a long wait for the food. Pork ribs were delicious and there sliced brisket was good had just the right amount on fat on it. Fried okra was ok wasn't the best but there baked beans made up for it had pieces of brisket inside of em.

Catfish and shrimp combo

Stopped here on our way to Buffalo and tried the catfish and shrimp Friday dinner for Lent. Average is the best way to describe the meal. It's not great, it's not bad, just OK. They use a corn meal batter but it's quite bland. Big chunks of catfish and shrimp which is nice but the batter is a little thick and the flavor meh. The tartar sauce is a mixture of salad dressing and relish. This is a no no for catfish aficionados everywhere. Never use salad dressing or relish. The sides (okra, Mac and cheese) were okay. Service was quite good. Fast and friendly.

It was well organized, spacious, and clean. It was a good place for taking a rest, fueling tank, feeding stomach I didn't have any chance to buy any sanwiches. I bought two bottles of cool water. In Shell, I filled up the Chrysler Pacifica with 12.879 gallons of gasoline, with the price of $3.399 per gallon.

(My friends have good taste!) I was immediately taken by the rustic charm of the establishment. To the left of the entrance was an old-fashioned meat counter filled with an assortment of smoked meats (some exotic) and jerkies (is the plural of jerky jerkies?). A few steps in, the counter gave way to a 90° turn followed by a steam tray with barbeque and sides. As I made my way around the establishment I spied the one thing that Bucc-ees is missing. An area to rest my heels while eating... it was small, but inviting. My chopped brisket sandwich came with a free side of beans. I happily retreated to my truck convinced that I'd found the best roadstop barbecue bargain in Texas. Did I mention that the sandwich only cost ~$7. Did I mention that the food was good?!

The salad stuff was fresh and the dressings were all good. On the hot side of the buffet they had chicken friend steak, ham, turkey and dressings, bbq brisket and friend chicken. Everything was excellent! The sides were all great. I imagine their homemade pies are amazing but I was too full to try any of them! I will 100% be back anytime I am nearby!!!

My dad has been coming here for years, I believe this was my first time…read more My dad went for the buffet, and I ordered a la carte. First, the service was excellent, I believe our server was named Presley. Very kind, always checking on us and keeping our water and tea full. On the buffet, my dad enjoyed the salad he had, but was surprised at the little variety offered that day. He said last time he was there with my brother there was more to choose from. He then got the fried chicken, which was greasy and barely any chicken on the thigh. I tried to find a drumstick but it was just breasts, thighs and a few wings. He did like the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. As for the fried okra, you have to eat it fresh. It is sitting under a heat lamp just makes it soggy and slimy. I ordered 4 vegetables a la carte which came out to be as much as the all you can eat buffet. First, their onion rings are OUTSTANDING! So is their homemade ranch. What was disappointing was the green beans, they definitely came out of a can and were heated. At $3.99 I expected fresh. There may have been a small piece of onion in it. Not sure if that was how it was cooked or if it fell in from another dish. The black-eyed peas were tasty. I also had a cup of the chicken corn chowder which was good. However, there was pieces of cubed chicken in it which also made me think that it was a prepackaged soup and not homemade. My dad got the coconut cream pie, which tasted good, but could have used more coconut then just on the top. He wanted bread pudding or peach cobbler, however at the time of day we were there, they had been picked over way too much, not leaving much for anyone else to enjoy. I did like the selections in the gift shop and purchased a tea towel before we left. I always like to try a place 3 times so I may stop in and try something else. Again, great customer service.
