Way to deliver like a professional - NOT!!!
    Marie B.

NEVER again will I order shavings from this location. I am from out of the area and we show horses, every year, at the Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds. In 2014 I ordered 20+ bales of shavings for the show. I was assured by the person on the phone that they 'deliver to the fairgrounds all of the time' and know the barn layout. Well, my 20+ bales of shavings were delivered to the Livestock pens, in a completely different area of the fairgrounds from the horse show area. Just this past weekend, myself and another trainer ordered 57 bales of shavings - 16 bales to be delivered to one barn and the remaining to be delivered to another barn. Mind you that the barns are LABELED with a letter and each stall is labeled with a number. The delivery driver put 12 bales of shavings by one barn, and the entire rest of the order in a pile, at a barn at the complete opposite end of the horse show grounds. The bales of shavings and bags of feed were literally just dumped right in the middle of the barn isle. We called the feed store back and were basically told oh well, not our problem, our driver is not near you etc. Myself and one other person had to unload horses from our small trailer, load 41 bales of shavings into a 3 horse trailer, unload 41 bales of shavings in the correct barns while our contracted hauler was waiting with a semi truck full of horses to be unloaded. After all of this, we realize that we were shorted a bag of shavings also! Really? How hard is it to read a GIANT letter on the end of each barn, and how hard is it to count your delivery before delivering? And a note of advice - when people buy 57 bales of shavings - kicked said 57 bales off into the middle of the isle is unprofessional and rude!

I have visited this location twice to donate items. On the first occasion, the store was closed,…read morewhich is understandable. During my second visit, approximately ten minutes before the scheduled opening time, I attempted to open the door. A staff member was seated at the counter, on the phone, with a dog in her lap. She made direct eye contact with me, then looked away and continued her personal conversation without any acknowledgment or indication of when the store would open. While I did not expect immediate entry, a basic level of common courtesy, such as a wave or a brief indication of the opening time, would have been professional and would encourage future business and donations.

I GOT A CAT !!…read more Weird, right ? But I started talking to myself and I'm single, and I made up an imaginary cat named Schroedinger (neat, right ? is he real or is he fake ? open the box !). That's when I realised it's just time to get a real cat. I'd been stalking these stupid Siamese cats named like Zepyherwhyndd and Galaharadieal and even though they were named after Dead Can Dance songs and STDs, they were stupid expensive. Pretty sure my old Siamese cat came from Andy's Pet Store or something shady like that. She was a good cat. Cats should be cheap, there's so many of them, but I was picky and I wanted to basically clone the cat of my childhood. RIP Nosey Meowy C. After stalking the PetHarbor.com listings, checking out the tore up Amy Winehouse Siamese cats all over the South Bay, and thinking about giving up food so I could buy one of Call of Aaemoenae and Chelapeladrox's offspring, I FINALLY found my little princess at the Watsonville shelter ! They are part of Santa Cruz County Animal Services, but sorely understaffed. I called for about three hours straight before someone answered, and when I told them I found the kitty I wanted to meet online (her name was, appropriately, Kitty) they made a note in her profile. When I told them I was going to come all the way from Campbell the next Saturday, they put a hold on her so I could get to meet her before anyone took her. I was very appreciative of that ! When I came to the shelter, there were tons of children around and I told the receptionist that I was there to see Kitty. She confirmed that I was the one who called, and then I filled out paperwork and waited for the excitement to die down so I could meet her (she wasn't into noise or kids). It was seriously love at first sight, I started crying as soon as I saw her. She's really tiny (about five pounds) and she was completely dwarfed by the HUGE soft cages they keep their cats in. There are very caring docents that play with the animals, and they socialize them all together (if appropriate). My little kitty was the sweetest thing, and when I brought her home ($95 adoption fee for adult cats, free checkup at the vet too), she snuck all around my house and was interested in everything. So I changed her name to Clarice. Teaching her to use a gun.

Even if you don't have a dog you can come to watch how they train, and pick up great tips for when you do get a dog. Located in Corralitos, it is a bit of a haul to get here. Probably 30-40 from Santa Cruz and 15 or so from Aptos. The training is done on a large field that has a full obstacle course. Plenty of room for 70-100 dogs at a time. There is a lot of repetition in the training which is just what you would expect. We don't take our dog here, our parents do and they love it. We go to watch and see the dogs. It is a great experience. The trainers are competent and humorous and engaging. They care about you and your pet. One final note, we saw some puppy magic last time here. A dog who just was freakin out about laying down. Yelping and nippy and upset. Willful...not willing. The trainer stopped the class and worked gently and patiently with the dog to finally get it to lay. It was amazing to see it. I didn't think it would happen. After another short walk, the puppy was laying on its own. My wife was in tears. This is the place to get your puppy acclimated to other dogs and a bit of structure in its life.

From the first evaluation I knew I had not only found the perfect solution for my dog but a kinship with the trainers as well. The Bootcamp was the best decision I've ever made. Not only did it re-set the mind/behavior of my dog but they also taught me the appropriate skills to be a handler for my specific dog. Before I started with The K9 Clinic Scout was unable to be off leash, around other dogs and her "naughty" behaviors felt unmanageable. Happy to report none of that applies today! Group classes, private lessons; we do them all! Thanks to The K9 Clinic I have the dog I always dreamed of!! Monique Cook Santa Cruz, CA
