Now for the areas to improve the chicken fried steak was almost inedible it was so overfried. This place is noisy with all the hard surfaces, every chair scrape is felt in your spine. Came in on a Friday night around eight and was promptly seated. The restaurant portion was not very busy but it sounded like they had a DJ in the bar area. There are signs everywhere when you first walk in advising you that if you're ordering anything with eggs it is an additional dollar due to the rising price. Our waitress seemed friendly. My husband ordered breakfast and I a sandwich. His ham steak was not only huge, but also cooked correctly. It was not dried out at all. We just had a wonderful lunch at the Country Kitchen Bar & Grill. I had the French dip, husband had fish & chips. Both very delicious. A table over from us had the fajita, which smelled amazing!! The service was great too! We're full and happy. The letter grade on the window by the door as an A! It's easy to see why after eating there. The food is good and serve in large quantity; I should note that my sweet tea tasted like tap water. At first glance the restaurant looks modern, clean and well kept. However, much cleaning details are missed. There was 5 flies on a dirty window that bugged us the entire time we were there. Restroom trash was overflowing to the ground. There was 3 employees being overworked serving as host, waitresses and busting tables; it definitely was understaffed for a Saturday morning. It caused long wait times. In addition, there was an annoying guy with a grey hoodie, with his hood on obnoxiously chewing gum and in everyone's way. When he wasn't seating on the phone or standing in the employee's way, he helped bust tables - very poorly. Never ever have I had a bad meal here. Today was the absolute worst. They brought me my food super late & not only was it cold the country potatoes were still frozen. When we opened the potato & showed the waitress she took the plate back & said they would warm it up. lol! She brought be back the same plate with the same potatoes & still cold. Then proceeded to get me fresh ones to go. My omelette had no mushrooms or any of the items that were supposed to be in it. & basically had to get up to get our own coffee. Went for breakfast. Food was ok not great. Service was not good. They were busy so I understand slowness, but not unfriendliness. We were not allowed to substitute hash-browns for a fruit or cottage cheese without an up-charge. I've never heard of a restaurant not allowing for a substitute when it came to a healthier option. We understand the high cost of eggs these days, but a dollar an egg is oppressive.They will nickel and dime you. And then we were charged extra for using a debit card without be told there was a fee. We had seen this place so we decided to go in and try it. We went in and a young waitress seated us and got our drink order. She returned with our beverage and we placed our order. I got a cheeseburger with fries my husband got a pastrami sandwich with fried. Our order took a normal amount of time. While we were waiting we observed several things. Two waitresses constantly kept cleaning tables and tending to the few patrons seated. While there two others a male with big hair stand talking an employee we presume,not sure who he was, and a young female waitress who had been tending to a table but she was busy on her phone. She talked more than anything and was obviously showing the male photos or something. It's obvious they are over staffed, since they have so much time to be visiting and sitting around. And it was very unprofessional in our opinion. The floor under tables needed to be swept, but nobody was tending to it. The place has so much potential, but at this rate it's not going to be good. The waitress responded after asking how long it had been open, she said 6 months. Our food arrived. We had no silverware, she brought some after I asked. The burger was large but not the best quality meat, lettuce, tomatoe and purple onion, no pickles, and the fries were seasoned. My husband was okay with his fries and his patrami sandwich. I did ask for mayonnaise and mustard because I don't care for the dressing on my burger, just personal preference. There is a bar area, we took a peak but it was kind of dark, so not sure without trying anything on that side. We didnt see a bartender unless it was the one guy seated at the bar??The reason for the 2 stars was the floor under some tables and the male and female especially. It really isn't good business to have staff like that, on their phones and sitting around and such. Especially when areas need attention. We might return in hopes that things will change and maybe I will be able to update my review. But one thing after visiting and checking reviews online it does seem that there has been issues here. I ordered the Chile verde omelet It had no flavor at all. My wife ordered a chicken club sandwhich looked like it was thrown together. The service was horrible. I had to get up and get our own silverware. I ordered an ice tea, and it took over 10 mins to get it. Waitress never came back to refill or ask if we were good. After driving around trying to figure out where we were going to have dinner, I settled on this spot since kids hadn't decided on anything. This was our first time here, and it is really family friendly and has so much to choose from. Our waitress was so sweet, and the bartender knows his stuff. The food was great only reason why it didn't receive a 5 star is because the ceviche which is good was missing the real ceviche taste and that is made with Lime not Lemons also the shrimp tasted like it came out from a frozen bag and not fresh. Other than that, it was worth it. If I am wrong and they did use limes, then they need to use better ones because you can taste the tartness from the lemon, not the sour. Also, my daughter ordered a medium T-bone steak, and it was overcooked, but she didn't take it back because she used the delicious salsa from the molcajete and it wasn't an an inconvenience to her. The eggs were cooked the way we ordered, and the gravy was well flavored, and the steak wasn't greasy or tough like in most places. It was really good. The french toast was also good, but they needed to get better syrup. The sauce from the molcajete was super good, the steak was soft, and the chicken was perfectly cooked with good flavor. The rice and beans are good. The fries that I didn't capture were not oily or overcooked, which I appreciate so much. We finished with desert, and I ended with a grown drink. The lemon drop was top-notch a little pricey but so delicious. And they do karaoke and have an outside patio. read more

Tried the Country Kitchen, for dinner. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, my wife had the Ground Sirloin and my Mother had the Club Sandwich. It was good home style cooking with LARGE portions. We all tried a little of each others and all three of us thought everything we had was great. The Bar is separated from the restaurant. The restaurant as well as the bathrooms were exceptionally clean and the parking is well fenced. Plus we all left with boxes for a Midnight Snack. Large eaters won't be disappointed. read more

Typical diner experience. The service was fast, attentive and efficient. The food was good, but not memorable. The chicken tender appetizer was much larger than we expected. My country skillet and the chicken tenders were tasty, but I remember my husband not liking his breakfast plate (mainly the pancakes and sausage). We were served spoiled meat and they didn't want to take it off the bill. Wanted to only offer a $3.25 discount. Sat for over 30 minutes before the server came back to our table to check on us and then an addition 25 minutes while they sorted out the bill. We got up to leave as we sat there for almost an hour after we got our food and they still didn't want to remove the spoiled meal from the ticket until we were just going to leave. Our good friend Joey does Karaoke here. He's the reason we started coming here to begin with. Today, we came to watch the Dodger game. The bartender had a none welcoming attitude from the moment we walked in. We waited 10 minutes before she bothered to tell us that they needed to get the alcohol for our drinks. We couldn't figure out why she wanted to give us the first impression that she was ignoring us. It took another 10 minutes before the manager, I'm assuming, came out with keys to go get the alcohol. So, apparently, staff doesn't even have access to get supplies when needed. So, 20 minutes later we're told they're out of both of the alcohol that was needed to make our drinks. They have a board posted with happy hour specials, both food and drinks, but don't have the supplies needed to honor those specials. Another couple that walked in right before us, had 1 drink each and they walked out as well. This was our first time at the bar. We usually go to the restaurant part. I'm wondering if we had ordered the food part of their happy hour specials, would we have been told they were out of those supplies too? They had karaoke going on tonight at 7:00. Joey brings a regular following. I know this because he'll tell you, I gave him his very first gig. He always gives me a shout out when I'm in the crowd. That was well over 20 yrs ago! Food was good quality. Ordered a side of scrambled eggs as I'm a light eater. They were served early but hot and just as I ordered them. Hubby had bacon and eggs (as good as Pappy's) and a side of Tres Letche Pancakes (very sweet). We enjoyed everything. 13+ booths and 6 tables, a counter all serviced by 2 waitresses, and 2 support staff. Rosa was our waitress and she did a fantastic job. The place was hopping. Although it has the same ingredients as a chicken club this sandwich is not made as advertised...first time I figured they may of ran out of sourdough, but twice come on!!! Breakfast, combo, I give 5 stars. The biscuits and gravy very flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Hash browns were actually average with 2 over easy eggs all served fresh warm. I Order a side of Pico de Gallo was some of the best fresh flavor I have had around town. Service was cordial, waitress were to busy to make the extra effort but while they didn't have but 2 the ladies tried to make the effort. My husband and I went for brunch on Sunday when the news article came out and we thought the food was good the kitchen and wait staff were unorganized but the waitresses made up for it with friendliness they kept apologizing and said next time you come back it will be better. I would've given them a five star review for that visit. unfortunately we took some our family there for dinner tonight. There were customers at less than half of the tables when we got there, they were in a hurry to take our order as soon as we sat down, we ordered our drinks and we asked for a few minutes to decide. The drinks came right out and we felt rushed to order, we had a few questions about the menu which the waitress did not seem to be knowledgeable about, so we went with nachos, a burger, chilaquiles and a kids fish and chips. We had to waive the waitress over 25 minutes later to add to our order fish and chips and 4 chicken tacos and asked to move to a bigger table because we had 2 more coming. They said yes to moving so we moved our belongings and used a wipe to wipe off the table. The waitress then brought us out the wrong food, she tried to give me fries for nachos and my husband had to take it back up there after she insisted it was the nachos, she then came over 5 minutes later and asked me what kind of nachos I wanted. My husbands burger and the kids fish and chips came out and then we waited another 10 minutes for the rest of the original order. We knew we would have to wait for the other two meals not a big deal. No one took their drink order when they got there, I do not know why she was standing staring at the order screen constantly instead of even looking around to see if her tables needed anything, she never offered drink refills just stood there at the order screen, but I finally got her attention and I asked if they could check on their food and ordered them drinks. 45 minutes after ordering their fish and chips and 4 chicken tacos we still didn't have it so we asked them to cancel their orders and I will be damned if the other waitress didn't roll her eyes like we were being unreasonable. So like all of that wasn't bad enough the food was not good, my chips were stale, my daughters eggs were grey and the kids fish and chips were soggy with grease. I was really hoping that this restaurant would be a nice place for my husband and I to enjoy a nice brunch or night out but it is not looking that way. read more

My husband wanted to try the Tres Leches pancakes after he read about this restaurant. We arrived this morning to Country Kitchen Bar & Grill on East Brundage and waited a bit to be seated. We were seated at a table, as the booths were already taken. The three girls that seemed to be running the place seemed very disorganized. We asked for coffee, but it was very weak and tasted watered down. It took some time for our order to be taken. It took some time for our order to arrive as well. The waitress placed our food at our table and walked away. I sat there and had to waive someone to bring us silverware and napkins. I ordered French Toast. I didn't realize that they were served plain (dry with no butter or powdered sugar) and served automatically with strawberries on top. I don't like strawberries on my French Toast (I was hungry so I ate half anyway). They were very dry even with the strawberries. They forgot my husband's sourdough toast, we reminded them, and by the time they brought it we were already finishing up eating. The eggs and ham were good, per my husband. I did taste the Tres Leches Pancakes and they were not what I expected. They were also dry, and had what tasted like a hint of a very sweet caramel taste and sliced strawberries on top. We asked for pancake syrup which they don't keep on the tables, and they brought us a squeeze bottle of syrup with a piece of foil covering the top. We waited for our bill for a while and just got up and went to the register and someone came and checked us out. I was disappointed with this visit, but now know that what brought us in (the Tres Leches Pancakes) won't bring us back. read more
