My friends family and mine went to Tina Marie's after an event downtown on Sunday. We came in at lunch time. They sat us down in the bigger section in the back. The waitress was so sweet and talked to our kids like they were her own. It was really nice. She got us drinks right away and then took our orders. I tried the Ortega beef dip and it did not disappoint. It was delicious. The meat was tender, the Ortega chili and cheese were really good and I think that's my favorite thing to get now. Not many waiters passed us for us to get the chance to ask for syrup soo had the banana loaf french toast pretty dry. 20 minutes later our waiter was present and asked if we were doing okay. We asked then for napkins and the waiter said they had ran out... I'm sorry but a diner/restaurant ran out of napkins during brunch time on a Saturday??? Make that make sense. First and last time to this location. I'm nostalgic for the Tina Marie's that burnt down on Chester Ave. This location leaves MUCH to be desired. Like, attentive service or an atmosphere without flies. Took a while to even get waters. The feel here isn't cozy or welcoming. It's dated and lackluster. The print is so small on the menu it's hard to read, and after a glance over it and seeing nothing that was appealing, we decided to just have a Bloody Mary and eat someplace else. Didn't even know they served bar drinks such as this until a server passed by and mentioned it, but said they didn't have a drink menu. Just left Tina Marie's. My friend and I were seated pretty quickly, staff was nice and food came out quickly. Unfortunately once we received our main food the server said she would bring out a biscuit and gravy and we didn't receive it till 15 min later, we did see a lady across from us receive her biscuit and gravy and they were seated way after us. We had to wait to eat our food as our server was doing other things and hadn't even checked on us so we couldn't ask her. The place was not busy at all. Once she came around we did ask her about it and she brought it out. Food overall was okay, nothing special. I also wish the menu was more updated as there is only some stuff on there. Tina Marie's has been a downtown staple. Now that I'm back working in the area, she poses as another option for lunch bites. Unfortunately, the original location caught fire a few years ago. The location on 19th is still within walking distance. The cafe offers the small town feel. Came here with my friends for lunch after a cool hiatus. I usually choose salads for lunch but the Club Sandwich was calling my name. Their sandwiches come with your option of sides. I chose the clam chowder which did not disappoint. It was rich, creamy and just enough saltiness that satisfies the tastebuds without making you feel heavy. The sandwich itself was nicely prepared. Bread nicely toasted, fresh tomatoes and lettuce added freshness. The bacon was thick and the mayo did not overpower the sandwich. The bottomed layer was ham and middle sect was a stack of turkey meat. American cheese provided a bit of creaminess to cut through the meat layers. Satisfying lunch eats. The service was a bit lacking in the beginning as we waited a good ten minutes waiting for our orders to be taken. However, once we did get orders in, the food came out in a reasonable time so we were able to enjoy without feeling lunch rushed. read more

We arrived to eat somewhere new because me and my sister just got done shopping at the flee market not too far from here. We got sat down. I could tell the ladies were busy but that was okay because we were still looking at the menu lol. After a while of looking at the delicious looking food, we settled down on two breakfast burritos and a short stack to share. The ladies were super kind and understanding. The food arrives really quick and it looks DELICIOUS. And I was correct. It was was delicious. The sala tasted fresh and the burrito was nice and warm. The pancakes where super fluffy and delicious. We like Tina Marie's. The staff is super friendly and seem genuinely happy to work there. We were seated right away. It was a Sunday around noon. We ordered chicken & waffles; Spanish omelette and chorizo/egg scramble. I also had hashbrowns and a biscuit with gravy. The Spanish omelette has tri-tip and a lot of veggies. The meat was tasty but a little chewy. I did like that I got some avocado and sour cream. I asked for salsa and that was a great add. My hash browns came out pretty dark but they didn't taste burnt. The staff was running around doing a lot. I think some things got left cooking too long. My biscuit was great and definitely home made. The gravy was good. The iced tea was perfect!! Foods always great and tasty . Patty on the other hand clearly hates her job. She seemed so inconvenienced , also dropping food off or anything off without a word, until it was time to checkout and she made sure to stare us down asking to put the total including tip. I didn't pay ,my mom did so I asked her to wait till she came out of the bathroom. As soon as my mom was out she quickly asked her again , 4 times total. When she noticed my mom didn't leave a tip. From first greeting it felt very unwelcoming. The waitress was an older lady in her sixties or so. She looked extremely annoyed at our presence. She took my daughter's and husband's order and walked away without even asking for mine. I found it so off putting I ended up sharing with my daughter. The meal was not what I expected from a diner. I honestly thought "well if it's amazing it makes up for the service" but it was just okay. I always tip but this time I wrote a big fat zero on the tip line. The wait was way too long! We were a group of 9 and arrived at Tina Marie's at 11:00, today, Saturday. We were told that they would work on a table for us. At 11:45 we had yet to be seated. There were empty booths and tables. We were not asked if we needed one table or could be split up. We asked the status of our table and the receptionist said she would check. This is another place that I've been told about for years, but have never gone. My mother and sister in law met us here for brunch recently and when I entered I was immediately happy. Their Xmas decorations are gorgeous! I imagine they change out the decor seasonally but this makes me want to come back and see what they've got. There's parking right next to the restaurant and a parking garage which you also get 2 free hours if you eat at Tina Marie's. The restaurant is centrally located in downtown next to all kinds of cute shops and boutiques for that walk you're gonna definitely need after getting full! We had the best waitress. She made me feel like she was one of my friends. She helped me with a couple menu questions, was very friendly, and kept our table happy. My group of 7 throughly enjoyed our breakfast items. Probably a 3.5 but I marked up just for offering a Monte Cristo sando for breakfast (not on the menu-but on the "specials board". Monday morn around 8:45 am--for the first 20 min, only one very hard working, pleasant waitress. Even being very busy, she still checked on us often, refilled my water, etc. Food was served promptly and hot, table cleared and the bill was brought out at the appropriate time. She adjusted the standard 4-egg omelette to 2-eggs for my wife (she was upfront about no price adjustment.) It came with hash browns and biscuits and gravy! Meal was still very big--decent quality. I compliment them for not making the gravy too salty--but I think the pepper shaker top well off when they were adding pepper-LOL. My Monte Cristo was huge---a sandwich inside a sandwich requiring a bart simpson sized mouth to eat it by hand (meant to be eaten with a fork I guess). Ingredients were very tasty-ham/cheese/berry sauce drizzle on top. Lightly deep fried so not too greasy. If I could change anything I would eliminate the extra 2 layers of french toast from the middle but keep all of the tasty ingredients--thus lowering the "bread to good stuff ratio"--it would still be a huge meal. read more

My husband had been wanting to try this restaurant out for some time now, so the other day, we were downtown and had some extra time on our hand, plus it we were hungry. We looked over the menu and quickly noticed all the food items were all priced between $15.00 - $21.00 Honestly, we weren't impressed with the menu selection. The food choices for us we felt were ordinary and items that could be made at home, nothing extraordinary popped out that said "try me." We ordered our meal from the Lukewarmwaitress. I settled on the French dip, and my husband ordered the club sandwich. Our order did arrive promptly, but the plating lacked luster. We all eat with our eyes first, and this plating left our eyes hungrier. The plate presentation was dull and unimpressive. All we got on our plate was our main dish and the side. My French dip was bland and the meat seemed like it was just slapped on the bread, It kept falling out every time I went to dip it in the aju sauce and I had to rearrange the meat slices. For me, the French fries were the best thing on the plate. My husband's club sandwich looked fresh but he said the best part of the sandwich was the mayonnaise. He thought the bread was too thick and took away from the meat ratio. Overall, I would not eat here again. Our service lacked the luster this place offered. The waitresses chatted more with one of the walk-in customers who was there picking up a to-go order instead of the customers who were seated inside. This is a cute, kitschy diner in downtown Bakersfield. There is on street parking and a parking garage 1 block down. I will have to get pictures of the food next time. I was hungry and forgot to take pictures beforehand. I had the California omelet with hashbrowns and a side of bacon. The omelet has 4 eggs so bring your appetite or share. We ordered two steaks and eggs for breakfast, one was raw and the other was clearly overcooked (hard rubber). The hash browns were undercooked as well. It's the 3rd time we have been there and also the last time, we had issues with our meals every time. I recently visited Tina Marie's on Friday and, unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. From the moment my group sat down, our waitress (tall, thin, with a a braid on her ponytail) seemed rushed and impatient. We hadn't even settled in when she immediately asked for our drink orders and continued to rush us throughout the meal. We all felt like she just wanted us out ,then she kept forgetting our food add ons When my plate was served, I said "thank you," but unlike with the others at my table, she didn't respond. It felt dismissive and uncomfortable. In contrast, another server (another waitress redhead) though it was a bit odd that she addressed me in Spanish even though our whole table had been speaking English. Overall, I left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Will never go there ever again hope management can remind the staff about treating all customers with the same courtesy and patience, regardless of who they are. read more

Everything was so delicious, I loved the chicken fried steak, husband thought the batter was too corn mealy for him but still a 9/10, I thought it was perfect. We had to drop a friend off at the train station Saturday, so we took the opportunity to have breakfast at Tina Marie's. I'm sad too say this was the first time at their 19th Street location. I realized the last time I visit was before the fire on Chester Ave. Too long. We ordered the California omelette, hold the onions. They use 4 eggs so this was definitely shareable. The sides were hash browns and wheat toast. The omelette was made well with lots of ingredients. It's your basic cafe breakfast and very good. Service was a bit slow at first, but it got better. Came here with my family hoping for a nice breakfast and IMMEDIATELY knew something was off. The vibe was terrible from the moment we walked in. I genuinely don't know what theme this restaurant is going for, but it looked like Christmas, Valentine's Day, and bad attitudes all got thrown into a blender. Please pick a lane. First issue: the pie display. Why is there a pie display case FRONT AND CENTER... with FAKE pies? What is the point? My grandmother, who is elderly and has poor vision, politely asked what kinds of pies were in the case. Instead of answering respectfully, the tall, skinny woman in the gray pullover jacket had the nerve to say, "Isn't it obvious they're fake?" Excuse me??? That alone was rude and unnecessary. But the real problem was the little redheaded hostess/waitress Emily. We asked for a table for 7 and she immediately cut us off and snapped that it would be a 30-minute wait, no discussion. Meanwhile, my mom who comes here FREQUENTLY--went to the bathroom and spoke with the nice blonde waitress, who promptly cleaned a table that the redhead claimed was "reserved for a party of 20." Funny how once the table was clean, suddenly we were able to sit there with ZERO issue. From there, it just went downhill. She messed up my brother's order AFTER he specifically said NO ONIONS which is wild considering he was the FIRST order she wrote down. Then when my grandmother went to order, she very clearly stated that she and my grandfather were on a separate ticket. The redhead completely ignored that, rushed her, and acted annoyed that she even had to take the order. When the food came out, she set plates down like she was mad at the table. No explanation, no courtesy just aggressive. She came back to ask if anyone wanted coffee about five times, and THREE separate times my grandmother asked for more coffee AND creamer. It took THREE TIMES before it actually happened. Absolutely unacceptable. As for the food? My Philly cheesesteak was subpar at best, and honestly the service ruined my appetite anyway. This redheaded woman seriously needs to be put in check. That attitude is ridiculous, especially for a Saturday morning. The place definitely had some character and was uniquely decorated. Everything was tasty. One thing is would have preferred was a little more dry of a biscuit. The biscuit was delicious but not one I would pair with gravy. I ended up asking for jam and it was delicious that way and then ordered hash browns to go with the gravy.
