I enjoyed our visit, staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant was super clean and welcoming. The food was presented beautifully and tasted great. It was a pleasant experience.

This review is just for their to-go service and the fish and chips I ordered. I was craving for fish and chips one afternoon then decided to stop by here. Service was fast and the fish and chips were delicious. It was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. It wasnt salty either. Service was fast probably bec it was before 5. Nevertheless, I would like to go back here and try their breakfast menu.

Came in on a Sunday around 9 and surprisingly it was quiet. We were sat right away and our server was very kind and took our order right away. We ordered the chilaquiles and some chicken and waffles. Unfortunately the food wasn't the best. The sauce tasted like tomato sauce and the chicken needed seasoning. Wouldn't mind coming back to try something different next time.

Came the day before Mother's Day as the previous restaurant we planned to visit was packed. Arrived and there were few patrons and instantly felt comfortable with the vibe of the restaurant. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizers and I ordered the Fish and Chicken and Garden salad. First, the food portions were ABUNDUNT! The onion rings were piping hot and extremely delicious. Next, my entree came and everything was delicious! I was expecting a small salad with my entree and it was an abundant salad with ham and other toppings! The chicken was juicy and breading was well seasoned. The fish was perfectly seasoned and very delicious. The service from the waiters and waitresses was superb. We left very full and happy with our evening dinner! Thank you!

We visited this restaurant on Saturday, May 24, 2025 @ approximately 10:00 am. The restaurant has plenty of parking and patio seating. We were seated immediately upon arrival. We were originally seated at a booth and like most booth seating, you're lower than the table because you sink into the seat. I requested a table and we were reseated at a table /booth combo; better than the previous. Our orders were taken promptly and waitstaff was attentive. The atmosphere was very casual and not overly loud or crowded. I ordered Mossman's Original Fish and chips. The fish was seasoned perfectly and fried to perfection. The fries were undercooked and a bit hard. The coleslaw was bland. I probably wouldn't order this dish again. My sister order the chicken and waffles. It consisted of several chicken strips and one waffle and a homemade maple syrup with jalapeños. She said it was delicious. My niece order off the kids menu. Four pieces of French toast and two strips of bacon. She said it was ok. I also ordered onion rings. The onion rings were served piping hot and fried crispy. Overall the food was okay and the service was excellent. Bathroom was clean and nicely stocked. Note: there's a 3% charge fee for using a credit card.

If you're going to Mossman's, I hear you have to try the Fish & Chips. That's what we were in the mood for. I think this used to be the Broken Yoke. It's a very spacious, open restaurant. Mossman's gives it a homey feel. The servers are pleasant and efficient. The booths are comfortable. The fish was tender and not over battered. The fries were plentiful. This is a good place to eat. Mossman's lives up to its reputation.

I was wanting something different, and this place was it. I went for fish and chips but ended up getting the fish and chicken. Super good. Friendly service and the best part was it didn't cost much more than fast food. I call that a win!

I wish I could do half a stars.... Honestly give it a 3.5. Very busy on weekend mornings; but they seemed to figure it all out. Ordered my to go order.... Took about twenty mins or so . Wish they had a water station why you wait. Shoot, this weather is hot. Ordered the chili verde omelet.... Was good .... Chunks of meat. My husband ordered the country fried steak.... They give a good amount of gravy on the side. Gravy is a little watery though. However; he ordered biscuits n gravy and I dunno about what they called a biscuit- it was more like a hamburger bun or dinner roll . Wish the biscuit was actually a biscuit - would have complimented the gravy a lot better. *used to be the old broken yolk on buena vista*

When I heard Mossman's was getting their own restaurant outside of the bowling alleys, I couldn't wait to go! Bakersfield has long been missing a good fried fish restaurant since the departure of my beloved Sea Breeze. For those who don't know, Mossman's took over the Broken Yolk Cafe on White Lane and Buena Vista. It doesn't look like there was any serious demo done to the building just new decor. The place is huge and I we hope that soon it will be to full capacity. They have a HUGE outdoor patio with plenty of fans and even Roman shades that can be rolled down when the sun is beaming. The day we went, they had been open for just over a week and there was a steady stream of take out orders being picked up. There are a few kinks they need to work out, mostly with cooking the food in a timely manner, but I'm sure they're up for the task. So the hubby and I both ordered the Original Fish & Chips but substituted the slaw for a garden salad. The fish was light and flaky, it was just missing the seasoning (This is where I began reminiscing about the good ole Sea Breeze days). Our fries weren't as crispy as I would've liked and they were also unseasoned. The salad was okay but they put it in the world's smallest bowl so eating it without making a mess was impossible! The biscuit was delicious! So light and fluffy! My daughter ordered the French toast and said it was good. I'm hoping that our food "issues" are attributed to new restaurant kinks and will eventually get worked out. I'm willing to give them another try before completely dismissing them, especially since we desperately need a fried fish place in town! C'mon Bakersfield, let's go out and support a local business that needs to stay around for years to come!

Can't say how happy I am seeing came here. I personally don't like going to the location in the bowling alley because of the noise and how everything smells like feet. This new location is such an improvement. Even though they didn't change the ambiance much from the previous restaurant, it still had a bit that sets it apart like the new pics in the wall. The food was great. My husband got the signature fish and chips and said it was excellent. My oldest daughter and I split the pancakes and the chilaquiles and both were delicious. My middle daughter also got a three stack and loved them. Our server, Junior, was so friendly and helpful. Checked on us regularly, left a carafe of coffee for the hubby, and even gave us to-go drinks for the road. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.

French toast, ham and supposedly over-medium eggs.
    Mark T.

Service was terrific. Pleasant servers for our large breakfast party. Although we came during breakfast I had to order the fish & chips. Meanwhile my wife ordered the French toast. Both were very good although the eggs were ordered over medium and came out over easy. The French fries also are not salted or seasoned but they really didn't need it. Next time I go back I'll try some breakfast items as my wife's ham look phenomenal.

    Welcome

Every time I have visited during brunch hours they were not that busy, I noticed that towards lunch time it gets pretty busy, so if you're curious about this place then I think the best time is around 9am-1pm ish from my experience. Last year I made a large reservation for about 10 ladies to celebrate someone and on the way to the restaurant they called to confirm the reservation (about 30 minutes before), but I did not hear my phone. When I arrived, a distraught friend told me that they did not have our reservation so I asked what the issue was. The manager told me because I did not confirm, they were not sure they were going to hold the table. I apologized that I had not recieved a call, but asked if we could still have the table (I was there on time and could see the large table with the reservation note on it). The manager begrungenly said they would allow us to still dine with them, but they said they would not seat us until more of our party arrived. I asked if we could wait for our party at the bar, but they said they would not because every seat at the bar was taken. So just a heads up, you cannot stand at the bar, you cannot stand around the restaurant, and they do not have a place to sit and wait for your table, you just have to stand outside (I'm sure it has to do with safety or firecodes, I didn't argue, we waited outside until people at the bar left). Once we were seated, the staff was not friendly. Wondering if we should leave or not, I called a friend who works near the building who frequents this place often on what I should do. He told me to go back inside and that the staff would be nice. When I returned, a new server came to our table with a tray of shots and said they would be taking care of us for the rest of the evening. I figured maybe the manager and that other server was just having a bad day, my friend must have called the restaurant and asked his most trusted server to help us, and enjoyed the rest of our evening. I didn't want to risk it another bad experience, so I haven't returned since. A few months ago during the whole Cesar Chavez news broke out, that friend who frequented the place went with another friend to the Botonist and was talking about the news while they were dining. The manager overheard. Later when my friends were getting ready to leave, the manager started becoming upset with my friends and told my guy friend, "I HOPE SOMEBODY R*PES YOU". Stunned, he asked her to repeat herself and she did. My friends left. The chefs and building are wonderful, but obviously something needs to be done about the management and staff with being professional and treating customers with respect. I've worked in the service industry and understand how stressful it can be, but I have always been able to keep my cool around people who are trying to enjoy a nice meal. Hoping they recieve the help they need as I love to see my community thrive.
