This place totally has a country feeling to it hence the name of the restaurant. You come In and it's really country decorated . The menu doesn't have at least some pictures which is a downer but you get an idea from it. The portions here are big portions compared to all the other places around here. This place was so much better than I expected from a tiny diner in Ramona! Two of us went there, expecting to possibly be disappointed by canned foods and such, but NO! They were very tasty and fresh and the service was good! The little gal was hustling to be sure and make everyone happy. Salad and dressing were good. Hot bread served. I had fresh turkey (not processed turkey loaf). Sautéed fresh vegetables. Mashed potatoes were fresh and good. We enjoyed the food! Anyway, I'd stop in again if we were in Ramona. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that there were several flies around our table. I think that is just how that town is. Flies everywhere because of livestock and such, but especially don't want them at my table with me. read more

We rolled in on a Sunday afternoon on a search for some good food. Welp we found it. The food was delicious and the staff was very nice. I got a blend of breakfast and lunch. Kountry chicken sandwich with an Ortega chili was out of this world. I shared the biscuits and gravy with the fam, very good as well. This place was amazing. We went today with 3 kids and they could not have been more accomodating. They even had sippy cups, and they gave all 3 kids stuffed animals. Have you ever seen a restaurant do this??? And the food was amazing. Not in a So Cal low-fat kind of way, but it was yummy. The biscuits were so good. We had breakfast (for lunch) and can not wait to go back. They are "famous" for their cobblers, which we did not try, but they looked unbelievable. We can not wait to go back! read more

Thanks to the recommendation from the waitress at another restaurant in town, we ended up here for breakfast. 3 adults, 2 children......5 empty plates!!!! I had the biscuits and gravy and a side o' bacon. The gravy was fresh and tasty. The biscuits were not too soft, not too hard. The bacon was cooked to perfection and not overly salty. Other items ordered at the table were blueberry pancakes, bacon & eggs, plain pancakes and a turkey sandwich (yes there's always one in the crowd! LOL!) The turkey looked like it was fresh roasted and sliced like a Thanksgiving turkey! The service was very attentive, even with the large amount of patrons that were in there. They would have received a 4th star, except the food took so long to come out. Yes, they were packed and a wait is to be expected. But the food was well worth the wait! If you're visiting Ramona, or driving through on your way to Julian, this is your breakfast stop! You will not be disappointed! read more

I've been here for breakfast twice before and it was great! Dinner on the other hand was not so great. Don't get me wrong, the staff are super friendly and hospitable but the food was sub-par. They have so many meat options for such a small kitchen and it seems as though they cook it in advance, freeze it, then microwave it upon order. Our order of fried chicken was cold on the inside and they brought it back to us all super hot including the plate. The meat was dry and not really tasty besides being smothered in thick gravy. Great experience here! I came on a Friday morning and it was busy, lots of families with their toddlers enjoying breakfast. This place has a great homey vibe, and the food reflects that. Nothing is overly gourmet or adventurous from a culinary standpoint, but it's warm and delicious in its simplicity. I ordered the Greek omelet and it was huge, stuffed full of bell peppers (I think they should have been sauteed first separately because they were a bit crunchy, but they were still yummy anyways) and topped with red onions (also would have preferred them sauteed), olives, and feta cheese. I chose rye toast and hash browns, which were good too. What I liked most about this place is that patrons are able to just relax and take their time. I didn't feel rushed to leave at all. My friend and I tarried a bit after finishing our meal, just enjoying the atmosphere of families being happy together. I will be back! read more

We love this place. The service is always friendly and on point. Being new to he area our waitress gave us some great tips on local spots. I am the pickiest egg eater in history, maybe a slight exaggeration but hardly, and they get them right every time. Food is fresh, delicious and the portions are good size. Went here with friends because a local told us this place was good. It... wasn't. I ordered a Chorizo Burrito and I guess they did it so they cooked the egg before the chorizo which, if you're Mexican, you KNOW that's not how one makes scrambled eggs with chorizo. My burrito had no color inside and pretty much ended up giving me a puke-like after taste for the entire day. I'm a little pissed because I paid $9 for it (which is REALLY expensive and almost double for a burrito that size where I live) and gave the rest away to family members who also didn't enjoy it. Just how does one mess up chorizo con huevos this badly? The service was just very "eh". I guess the restaurant is very understaffed because all we got were two girls running around with coffee pots trying to keep all the regulars happy before asking us if we were ready to order. Our food also took over half an hour to arrive, and it was only two orders of food. My hot chocolate was already chilly by the time we got our plates, and it really wasn't all that busy. I'm glad I'm from the SF Bay Area, so I don't have to come here again. read more

Great little local café. Busy place with a standard menu. My wife and I enjoyed the large portions and ample choices available on the menu. I ordered a BLT with soup and a piece of Cherry pie. The BLT was great. Hard to mess those up. The chili was a bit too spicy for me, but that is just personal preference. The Cherry pie was awful and tasted like it was in the freezer for years. It was hard, not sweet, and the crust was bland. When I went to check out, there was a political petition on the counter when you paid for the meal. Unacceptable. I will not be going there again. It used to be good. I have been going there occasionally for years. The server was not a happy person either. It almost felt like she was forcing nice words. Went to KK last night. We 1st went about 3 years ago for dinner & hadn't been back since. There were just certain things/details that were off-putting. Ordered the brisket, asked for bbq sauce. Waitress brought it is a small dish, ice cold from fridge. I love Brussels sprouts, which were the featured veggie that night. They also were served cold. I asked waitress if that was intentional, she went back to ask cook. Came back with some warm ones, which was the way they were intended. Now we decided to try KK again, 3 years later. I was surprised at the volume of food! Dinners started with a huge salad, complete with red & green bell peppers, 3 cherry tomatoes, savory croutons, and a sprig of celery. Wife ordered the beef tips, which was a big meal! Most dinners come with 3 choices of sides. She ordered veggies, mashed potatoes & gravy, & something else. I ordered the breaded pork chops, again, huge! 2 delicious chops, a big baked potato & a nice mix if veggies including cauliflower, broccoli & peas. Everything was served as it should have been. Others had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast (definitely recommended), Pancakes (very good) and Spinach Omelet (tasty). I don't know why, but they always manage to loose or forget my order here. It's weird, I don't have that problem at other restaurants... But I keep going back even with the missing grub, so that says something. Anywho, food is good, homey and portions are huge. It's nothing gourmet, but a good choice if you're looking for something like grandma would have made. A few tips- You can park behind the restaurant if there is no street parking. Just pull in through the gas station, turn right down the alley and you'll find a big, safe, well lit parking lot. You have to walk through the dining room to get to the hostess stand to be seated. Portions are comically big, so I suggest sharing if two people at your table want the same thing. Coffee is a bit acidy, I love coffee but generally order hot tea when eating at Kountry Kitchen. They bring you your check, but most of the time, you need to bring payment to the hostess stand so you can check out. read more
