Avocado Toast & Side of Fruit.
    Jemiah J.

Situated at San Vicente Golf Resort, I first discovered this place after a hike, and my friends and I have been visiting ever since when we're hiking in the area or want to play a round of golf at the resort. This is my third time dining at The Oaks Grille, and their Avocado Toast has definitely earned its spot on my must-have list! Food: 5/5 - I ordered my usual Avocado Toast. They top smashed avocado with fresh sprouts and pickled onions. I love pickled onions! I highly recommend their Avo Toast. This time, I had it with fruit on the side. Their potatoes and fruit are both tasty options. Beverages: 4/5 - I had their black coffee, and it was good. They don't have lattes on the menu, but they do provide non-dairy creamers. Customer Service: 4/5 - The food arrived quickly, although our waitress forgot my friend's order of bacon. She was sweet enough to offer a complimentary one to make up for it. Ambiance: 5/5 - Plenty of seating, very clean, and you get a great view of the golf course through the large restaurant windows. We arrived on a Saturday morning and didn't have to wait for a table. Parking: 5/5 - Convenient private lot.

I'm a sucker for pickled red onions and they had it on their avocado toast! The avocado tasted fresh and delicious. The potatoes were also tasty. I enjoyed the entire meal. I ordered a side of bacon too but the waitress forgot to put the order in. She made up for it by giving me a complimentary piece of bacon before I left. This restaurant is part of a golf course. If you sit near a window you get a good view of the golf course - San Vicente Golf Course.

Ordered a pie for the first time in a year or two. I ordered the giardona. The good is it had a great crunch. The pie lacks flavor and the toppings are scarce and not evenly distributed. Definitely not worth the $24 and change that I paid for a large. Doubt I go back. This place has never been consistent with their food.

Excellent pizza, attentive wait staff will help you quickly at the bar on Friday nights. Lively and friendly crowds make the ambiance worth coming back to.

We're staying at the San Vicente resort and enjoying the breakfast at the Oaks Grille. The restaurant is big and has a nice view of the golf course. Food is delicious. Early Riser deals are awesome! Service is wonderful. I highly recommend this place. We haven't tried lunch or dinner yet but assuming it would be just as great. The restaurant has been touched up with new paint and flooring. The local photos are gorgeous on the walls. We like coming here.

The food was delicious. The drinks were perfect, and the service was even better. Our server Joy was awesome. She was very nice, despite all the many times we kept adding things to our order. Susan who wasn't our server would also check on us. She was very pleasant, and had a nice little conversation with us about her daughters wedding. We had a perfect breakfast, sitting next to the window overlooking the green & the rain. Thank you ladies. We will definitely be back.

I love pasta and seafood, and last Saturday I went to have dinner with my friend and it was a cold night. I was craving something warm and tasty. The restaurant had been following the restrictions COVID-19 and so we sat outside. I was looking forward to enjoying the food that was well recommended. The waitress was kind and hardworking. She wasn't even wearing a jacket despite the cold. She was super helpful and brought the food out fast. At first, I ordered a Pinot Noir wine and they didn't have it available so the waitress recommended another Pinot Noir that was super tasty and matched with my dish. For appetizer we ordered chicken and cheese quesadilla, accompanied with 3 sauces, it was so good. For the main course I ordered fettuccine alfredo and side brussels sprouts but I think there was a mistake in the kitchen because I didn't receive the correct pasta, however what they brought me was unbelievable. It was better than what I originally wanted. So, in the end it was a happy mistake. The pasta was cooked just right, the sauce was super tasty, the shrimp was soft and delightful. My friend chose chicken, asparagus and french fries and of course as I love them I ate some. They were crispy and tasted like they weren't cooked in oil. Regardless of the cold, I loved the experience, the food and the workers were very friendly. Everything was really good, a beautiful view of the mountains except for the heater on our table that wasn't working, making us a little uncomfortable due to the cold. But the tasty food made up for it.

Chicken Fried Steak and they make a good Bloody Mary too.

Great view, friendly service and we got entertained by wild turkeys running around the golf course. Both my friend and I went for the grilled swordfish tacos, and they were delicious! I'm usually not an onion fan but the pickled onions were perfect with the jalapeño cream sauce and the crushed peanuts added a nice bit of texture. The menu is kind of a basic all American menu, but there are a lot of things on there. I would definitely try when I return. I was a bit disappointed by the draft beer list. It's all IPA's and lagers, I think one red ale also, none of which is really my bag. It would be nice of them to round it out with a pale ale, wheat beer, or even a stout. Fortunately, they do have Corona in the bottle and that's always a safe bet.

Both the appetizers and entrées took a little longer than expected to come out, and we had trouble finding our waiter to check on the status of our order. When the food did arrive though, everything tasted great. The service was a bit limited during our visit, we were only checked on a few times and ended up going up to the bar ourselves to get drinks. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a nice view of the golf course, and a good variety of food options for the Ramona area.

[TL;DR: Served inedible food I did not eat, charged in full, zero attempt to make it right.]…read more I very rarely leave negative reviews and don't nitpick or blast places over small issues - and you can check my other reviews to verify that. I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.

That commitment to quality and sustainability is commendable and something more restaurants should strive for. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that cares about where its food comes from. Unfortunately, that attention to ingredient sourcing seems to stop when it comes to cooking oils. Many of the menu items are prepared with soybean oil, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality and health-conscious image of the restaurant. Soybean oil is highly processed and contains large amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. While omega-6 fats are essential in moderation, excessive consumption relative to omega-3 intake has been associated with increased inflammation in some research. Soybean oil is also more susceptible to oxidation when exposed to high cooking temperatures, potentially producing compounds that some studies suggest may contribute to oxidative stress. In addition, many health-conscious consumers actively avoid industrial seed oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils in favor of alternatives like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, or tallow. I would gladly give Marinade on Main a higher rating if they aligned their cooking oils with the same local, high-quality standards they apply to the rest of their ingredients. Switching to avocado oil or olive oil or beef talo would be a welcome improvement and would better match the restaurant's otherwise impressive commitment to quality. * also loose the standard strip of high fructose sodas and provide more natural optikns of drinks ...

Now when I was stationed in the east coast, I ate a lot of lobster rolls. I even got the McLobster roll when in season. You get the feeling I like seafood? So for the sake of my tastebuds being happy I went downstairs to Plaza Grill. Now I was torn between getting a lobster roll or sushi. Sushi?!?!? Remember I was determined to find good sushi in California. Spicy king crab roll or a lucky dragon roll both sounded good. The server asked what I would like and I told her I was torn between the two choices. When she found out where I was from, she immediately suggested lobster roll. It seems that the regular sushi chef was out and they had a newbie. Moving along while waiting for my meal, the complimentary waffle chips and sour cream dip came. These chips were warm, just the right touch of salt, and great crunch. I wish all the restaurants serve this. I even asked for another basket because they are that good. Finally the sandwich comes and my eyes lite up and my jaw drops. This thing is overflowing with meat. The roll is huge in weight and later found out huge in taste. I mean you would have to unhinge your jaw to get around this monster. The bread was a nice vessel to surround the meat. Buttered, toasted and soft, the visual appeal was a great contrast to the vibrant red lobster. I didn't want to eat it, I wants to frame this work of art. But duty calls. There was more mayonnaise then I like but it didn't matter too much because you needed all the mayo to clump the meat together. It's a good thing I had a fork to pick up all the meat that escaped from the bread. And I mean a lot of meat ended up on the plate. I didn't care about the side order of coleslaw. I just can't rave enough on the lobster. If you are in Barona, you can gamble on getting the lobster roll and be an automatic winner. Overall five solid white stars. What solid white stars!?!? Even with the lackluster coleslaw, the complimentary chips and way overstuffed roll trumps that slight mistake easily. Now excuse me, speaking of automatic winner where's that machine that always pays out? Ooh there's the ATM. M
