I did not sit in the priority area. The sign that said "drivers only" is of course long gone so anyone can sit there and that might have speeded things up. The spaghetti and meatballs only took the kitchen about 15 minutes and tasted good, but my entire visit took over an hour.

Just one side of the wall in the restaurant.

We visited over the weekend for brunch and made a reservation a few days ahead of time. The place…read morewas relatively busy but parking was still plentiful (we drive by often and see it packed to the point of parking on the street nearby). The spicy green beans had a nice snap to them and the sauce was well balanced. I was happy to see the fried pickles were spheres instead of spears so they were easy to eat. The wagyu sliders were flavorful, juicy, and the toppings paired nicely. The waffle fries and seasoned sour cream are a must when visiting Maynard's.

So really, it kind of came down to the food. The food is unremarkable for the most part. Nothing really stood out as something one would write home about. It is really on par with Applebee's or other restaurant chains. The French Onion soup was a hot bowl of semi-salty, onion-infused beef broth with a piece of baguette topped with gruyere or Swiss cheese. It's fine and presented as one would expect. The Reuben was in the same boat as the soup. It was a Reuben, and nothing stood out. Bottom line for this place is, if you are looking for a place that is consistent in what is plated for you, and are looking for a quick meal, this is your place. I would eat here again if I could not think of another option in this neck of the woods.

Busy (be prepared to wait approx. 20 minutes for a table depending on your party size, but worth…read morethe wait) little Classic Mom & Pop Cafe. Old school big skillets, HUGE pancakes, strongest coffee on the planet, haha. You can even buy things like bird feeders, pot holders and more too. I ordered the Country Fried Steak which was a big portion, seasoned perfectly with freshly made gravy, I asked for "crispy" hash-browns and got crispy hash-browns. . I tried the cranberry wild rice bread which was delicious. My over easy eggs cooked perfectly too. Great to see a Classic Cafe still going strong. Only input to improve is updating the cushions in the booths. Follow me for more reviews. @JDMinneapolis

We figured most places would be busier because it was the day after New Year's Day. We waited just under 15 minutes to be seated. The staff did the best they could to accommodate each party that came in, while moving through the line to fill tables quickly. I will say the café is on the tighter side. The booths are small, and the tables...well, they're kinda on top of each other. A couple who frequents the café recommended we try the "Fritter Toast". It comes in three flavors. We ordered the blueberry and let me tell you, KNOCK OUT! I wish I had only ordered that! I did order a breakfast special and it was okay. Nothing out of the ordinary for a breakfast joint. The food came relatively quickly and the portion size was big! Especially the pancakes. I will say, and other reviewers say the same, if you're looking for a small town feel, with friendly staff, Lindas' has some work to do. We didn't feel welcomed. Some of the staff were down right crabby and standoffish. If we don't go back, I won't be sad. But, I will need to figure out a way to get my hands on the fritter toast.

If I get a chance, its fun to go try some of the older variants and vintages of Darkness to see how they old up. It helps as well that Short or Tall does flights! I enjoyed five different pours of Darkness: Gimme S'More Darkness (2021): An Imperial Stout, Darkness, aged on Vanilla and Cinnamon aged in Bourbon Barrels reminiscent of a liquid s'more. Darkness (2016): An Imperial Stout aged for nearly ten years. A little thin bodied, which occurs over time, and a ton of sherry notes. Darkness (2025) Barrel-Aged: An Imperial Stout aged in Elijah Craig Bourbon Barrels and Creative Oak French Oak. The OG version of this year's BA Darkness. Chocolate Limoncello Darkness (2024): An Imperial Stout with Cacao and Lemon Puree hitting French Oak for a while as well. This is a weird one for sure. Vietnamese Coffee Darkness (2020): An Imperial Stout, Darkness, infused with Organic Robusta and Arabica Coffees from UP Coffee Roasters (local to MN), Vanilla Beans, and Coconut. It was aged in Rum Barrels. This one is an absolute delight and my first time trying it! My favorite of the flight. _____
