Gross! There was a bum sleeping at the front entrance, his bedding piled high next to the door. When greeted, we said are you aware of the bum sleeping out front? We received a dismissive "yep". Before we even sat down we were asked what we wanted to drink, we asked if they had mimosas and we are told "nope - I have to answer that question 5 times a day". So, OJ and water it was for us... upon delivery of our drinks we could not unsee the filthy fingers that our serever had. There was no way we were drinking out of those cups! Yesterday was the first time my brother and I stopped in to try this place and hands down it was such a great experience. By far some of the friendliest and most attentive staff we've ever had the pleasure to have. Megan was our server, she had such great table side manner and was quick to get our order in and out. While Teodoro was not assigned to us he was beyond a gentleman making sure our cups of both water and coffee were always topped off and made kept checking in to make sure we were doing okay. He presents himself in such a professional manner with an amazing attitude that it's no wonder this place has great reviews. But does it stop there? No!! As we were concluding our meal we also had Jennifer and Shawn be the perfect end to a perfect meal with their attentiveness to table as we concluded our meal. While I know this review is lengthy it is important to make sure each individual who helped us knows what a fantastic job they are doing and although we did not meet the cooks the food itself was amazing as well. Stopped by on our way home from Camp Lassen with our Scouts. Very good stuff...and a decent price. I forget what they call it...redneck benedict? country benedict? It was eggs benedict style w/ biscuit, sausage, egg and country gravy. OMG! So good! My kids each ordered something different. The only thing that wasn't devoured was the corned beef hash. I don't blame him...it was canned. His father likes it (grew up with the stuff), but my boys have never had the canned stuff. They have the best vegetable soup I've ever tasted. another good thing about this place is that I always see the same waitresses. This means that their turnover rate is extremely low and allows us to get comfortable with the staff. You can tell that the food is made with love, something essential in any local restaurant. Chico wouldn't be the same without you guys. I used to go there every Wednesday for Waffle Wednesday and although it's not an actual title for Country Waffles it sure served us a grade A breakfast :-) thank you for striving to fill our stomachs with delicious food and provide us the environment of small town breakfast extraordinaire. Based on yesterdays visit I can not give CW more than 1 star. I ordered off the menu and decided to try something different the oriental chicken salad . When the waitress delivered it did not look like the picture in the menu at all. It was all iceberg lettuce, the tomatoes were anemic, was drowning in dressing and the chicken strips tasted funny. When I told the waitress she offered to replace it with something else which she did. But when we went to leave I looked toward the kitchen and one of the cooks was staring at me and would not stop. I looked away and then back several times and he continued to stare. I realized that he was trying to intimidate me for not liking his salad creation and complaining to the staff about it. She helped 3 other tables before mine then after asking the busser to tell her that we have been ready she waits another 5 minutes to come over. No eye contact, no introduction. I could see my food in the warmer the whole time and she finally brought the food, fries were ice cold and warm potato salad.
