So far i have only tasted their thin cruwt pizza and it was delicious!!! Its one of those neighborhood bars that you can go to, to hang out watch sports and if you frequent the place often enough im pretty sure you will get to know everyone! The service was terrible, we had to call the waitress over to get waited on, because of lack of help. We ordered bloody Mary's, pure tomato drink, 1 had garnish, 2nd no garnish, no vodka. Then we had to call the waitress again to order appetizers, the calamari was half burned and half not done. 1 burger was supposed to be with the works and they forgot the works. Its was very disappointing. When the games are on they need to have have enough staff. There was only 2 waitresses for both sides and I dont know what happened at the bar and kitchen?? The service was horrible. The staff members used to be friendly, fast and courteous. We go to countryside many times and these last 2 times were just one big mess. My dad is currently in LGH and I was recommended by a close family friend. Food is incredible. We kept going back since we were clearing our heads and enjoying the food and drinks. The day we decided he wasn't going to make It all we wanted to do was to go back. Countryside saloon is a great bar specially to watch sports have a few drinks, but my visit was strictly for their thin crust cheeses pizza always gotta get cheese pizza on your first visit. CS actually has decent pizza for a bar. I actually prefer it over chasers. CS crust is nice and thin. They offer a 18 inch for $25 which I think is reasonable most places charge that for a 14-16 inch. I think their sauce is decent. It's more on the acidic side, which I prefer. Service was great from the hostess to the waiter and the busier were very nice. It's a huge standalone building with a ginormous parking lot. 100% Recommend! read more

This pizza is amazing! I'll put up to Vito & Nicks or any one of the best places in the Chicagoland area. The crust is perfect with the proper hydration and fermentation to create this masterpiece. Came here with my husband and friends recently for the first time and I enjoyed it! We accidentally came on a trivia night (Trivia Tuesdays) and even won 2nd place, so our table won a &15 gift card to the restaurant). Honestly, that was all thanks to the guys because we girls didn't know really anything LOL. This place is pretty big and we were in the extra room off the patio area. Because it was winter when we came, we obviously couldn't sit outside, but it is nice to know they have a patio available in the summer. The room we were in had a HUGE decorated tree in it and it was just a nicely decorated room in general. It included TVs and many tables. The bar has a rustic theme, and it has a comfortable atmosphere. For dinner, my husband and I first ordered the cheese curds which were absolutely amazing; they tasted just like the ones you would get in Wisconsin. Cheesy and greasy! Then, all 7 of us ordered something different. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The chicken was okay, but it was honestly very flat and I wish it had more breading and more of a crispy texture. Sadly, it was underwhelming and I probably wouldn't get it again. The sweet potatoes on the other hand were amazing and full of flavor. They were perfect. My husband ordered a pepperoni pizza and it looked so good. He really did enjoy his personal pizza, and I think I would get pizza next time I come here. We had good service when we came here, and our waitress was attentive and always checked on us to make sure we were good with drinks. Always helpful, especially when you have many people at your table. I like that Countryside Saloon offers many different food options including pizza, a bunch of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. They really do have an option for everyone. They also have an extensive beer menu which is nice! They even have like 24 taps. A couple I am friends with who came with us that night comes here often since they live in Des Plaines, so I know I will be back soon! I'm excited to try more of the menu. read more

Another Wednesday 1/2 priced pizza evening, and another delightful catchup session with the 'ol colleagues here.  We sat out in the patio this time on this pleasant summer evening.  The inside was totally booked anyway and hostess Jamie nabbed the last shady table for us.  Tonight was the busiest I've ever seen this place, and one of my colleagues had to park on the side street.   We split a 16" and a 12" pizza, which was just right for our threesome.  I for one also had the following brews: - LaGrow IPA, 7.25% ABV - Lagunitas Hazy Wonder IPA, 6.0% ABV - Pipeworks Mini Unicorn IPA, 5.0% ABV Alexa was our young, friendly, and capable server tonight.  She stayed busy all night but also stayed attentive to us.  We did a bit of name dropping with one of the staff when she took a break to chat.  I should know some of these names as I've been here enough times, but I note here more or less for the record and myself.   Robin was also one of the friendly staffers who was helping out.  This place is owned by a brother-sister team with Janet being the sister.   The other indirect owner party is the brother's wife Wesley.  Those are some names here and you may well run into one of them on any visit.  Thank you and keep up the good work as this is a great neighborhood joint! read more

My husband and his friend go to this place and like their pizza. So they wanted me to try their pizza. (It was my first time and last time I walked into this place) We order two drinks, baked potatoes and 1 pizza for dinner. We got two drinks and baked potatoes right away. Our server didn't show up even once after placing order. The place was not busy at all. We called our server to check on our pizza order after waiting for an hour. We placed our order at 6:50ish and now it was 7:50pm. She is giving us excuse that the order didn't print, I asked her if the order didn't print how did we get the baked potatoes? Now she is asking us to repeat our order, 'what kind of pizza did you guys order?' So she can place the order now. We refuse to place an order as it was late. We asked her to call her manager (The manager was not willing to talk to us, he walked by us and didn't bother to stop) the server came back and mention " I'm sorry, I forget to put your order in" and the manager mention he will take care of the check. We insisted her to call the manager. We try to explained the manager on 1) how she lied that the order didn't print, where she actually forget to place an order 2) she didn't show up to our table once in 1hour to ask if we need anything 3) she rushed us to place an order as if kitchen is closing. The manager had no expression, he just said sorry that she forget to place an order. I can put in the order now and it will take 15mins to bake the Pizza. So clearly the manager was not interested in listening anything. He also acted dumb and careless. If the owners are reading this, PLEASE GIVE BASIC TRAINING TO YOUR STAFF! read more

DESPAIR IN DES PLAINES I've never left a Yelp review in my life but I was so frustrated after ordering from this place that I had to leave one. This review is in regard to their carry out order. First, they told us half of our order (3 orders of wings and 1 chicken tenders) got accidentally cancelled and that we had to wait ~5 minutes so they could make them fresh. That was no big deal at all. But when we got back home (~7 minutes away) everything was cold. There was no way they made those wings and chicken tenders fresh. Even the pizza was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out for 30-45 minutes. I was embarrassed because I had friends who flew in to visit. I feel like the pizza would've been halfway decent if it was hot and fresh but in the words of Kanye West, I guess we'll never know. I will never order or go back to this place. read more

My grad school roomie was visiting from Florida, and he wanted a great Chicago Tavern style pizza. Countryside Saloon in Des Plaines was a perfect choice. The place was packed, as it was Wednesday and they have a pizza special every Wednesday. We were seated in the addition, which was perfect. Nice, north woods kind of rec room design, lots of tvs (it is a great sports pub, especially for Bears and Blackhawk games). They also have a monthly craft beer special for $4 a pint, and our lovely waitperson made more than a couple round trips to the bar for us! We ordered two pizzas - the old school (extra, on Richard Malitz's recommendation ) sausage, and the newer, possibly Gen x version, Italian beef and hot giardiniera. Both were incredibly delicious and were easily polished off by us four sexagenarians! It was already decided that we are going back on his next trip to Chicago.
