The new bar chairs are extremely uncomfortable, the wait staff is horrible (always has been, worst lately), the food quality has dramatically decline, exact measuring of mix drinks is now the norm and the new price increase is the last straw for us. Countryside is no longer a warm, fun and inviting place to relax with family & friends. It has been institutionalized to the extreme. read more

Have been hearing about this place for years. Recently a friend went for the salad pizza and I know I HAD to get there. One, cause it looked awesome, two, cause I wanted a cool shot for my instagram @thetipsyhousewife. I was not disappointed. Went there with a large group including two small kids. I started, and ended with a monkey sour beer which was awesome. The beer list was great. We had several apps. Salad pizza, fried pickles, Jalepeno rings, chicken tenders, and cheese curds. The chicken was awesome. My main course was the fried chicken with a side of baked potato and soup. The soup was good. But very salty. It was an escarole and beans. The baked potato was awesome. My boyfriend and I have gone to Countryside in the past and there drinks and customer service has been exceptional have always had the best time. We unfortunately had to stop coming there due to my boyfriend being in a wheelchair. There is "NO" handicap bathroom he would never be able to get into the tiny bathroom. My boyfriend has been very sick to the point he would go days without eating he had to have several bags of nutrition in him thru an Iv. He is home and involved with Hospice and he told me he had a taste for a good burger. Now I heard Countryside had great burgers I told him. So we ordered 2 burgers and he hasn't stopped bragging about your burgers since then. He is now eating 2/3 meals a day. Countryside's burgers at least 2 times a week. I've been there several times in the last few years. It's always been for the live music. Last Saturday 12/10/16, I was asked to photograph the band there that night (Average Joe Band). We got there early, ordered some food (I got the "Hot Spicy Hot Burger" which was DELICIOUS, served up with hot giardiniera...super delicious) **Recommendation, go with the fries not the countryside chips. The Countryside chips are virtually tasteless.** We called about 2 hours ahead of time to make a reservation, asking to be near the band; they said they would see what they could do, but not make any promises. We got there, and they gave us the very last table in the main room near the bar. It was fantastic as it was in the back corner, so I could store my equipment out of the way. Crissy was our server, and she was ON POINT!! I was a server for 12 years in several different types of venues, and I can tell you from experience, she is one of the best servers I've had at any restaurant, and definitely the best I've had at Countryside Saloon!! She was attentive but not overbearing. When I eat food, I go through water like a fish, I asked her for a refill of water with no ice, and she brought me a pitcher (her rationale was, "if someone asks for one refill of water, they're bound to ask for another...why not bring a pitcher to the table.") Not only does that pitcher save her time so she can be tending to other guests, it makes it so the guest doesn't have to wait several minutes for a water refill. Since I was photographing the band, she would see me around the bar area and make sure my drink was full and deliver my drink to me wherever I was in the bar. She was amazing! Love this neighborhood saloon. It was unknown many years ago, like 10 to 15 years. Food is good bar food. My favorite is salad pizza followed by pasta in garlic butter with fresh cooked broccoli. It's been a long time since I've been to Countryside. The last time I was here was before my pre-yelp days, 10+ years ago. Let me start off by talking about the actually bar. It is a very casual, cabin type, comfy feel, bar. It's a great place to go to watch a football game, as they poor a strong drink and have a good variety of beer on tap. I actually went on a Sunday before the football games started and was able to get a seat. The bar filled up fast. The food however is just average. I ordered two appetizers, the quesadilla and nachos. I wish the nachos had more meet and cheese. Nothing really stood out with either appetizer. My wife ordered the Italian beef sandwich for lunch and I ordered the Cobb salad. I have nothing to say about the salad because, well it's a salad, you can't really mess that up. My wife's Italian beef sandwich just lacked moisture. The Italian beef itself tasted good, it just there was no juice or gravy with the beef which really made the whole sandwich dry and hard to swallow. I used to come here to get the pizza and wish I would have this time as there sort of known for it. I will give the place a second chance and update my review after trying their pizza. If your coming here for drinks and to kick back and watch the game it's a decent place! They also have a side room where you can have parties. read more

Went there today for the all-you-can eat fish fry for $11.95. The fish is excellent. I don't generally like to eat fish--especially if I can smell it. The fish at Countryside is prepared perfectly. Just a little breading so it doesn't overpower. Still moist inside. I thought I'd previously rated Countryside for their fish fry, but couldn't find it. It is one of our favorite places to eat. Wednesday's 1/2 price pizza can't be beat. We love their pizza so much that we compare it all other pizza--and Countryside is usually the winner! read more

Recommended by friend Steve-o, who frequently visits. Was impressed by the beer selection, a great chalkboard with lots of crafts and imports and all divided up by style of beer. Chose Anderson Valley Winter Solstice as my opener, a familiar winter creamy beer served in a can, followed by Domaine duPage on tap (gotta drink local-thanks Two Brothers) and ended with Revolution Anti-hero IPA, which really kicked me down hard. Food was good, a delicious Reuben, and the pizza all my friends were eating looked good too. Plenty of TVs, too-we were there to see the Blackhawks and had no problem watching them there. But if I had some complaints-the service at the bar was really bad-he could have used a couple helpers-he was running all over and to the kitchen too. At one time took about 15 minutes just to catch his attention. Plus with the fireplace it was about 1 million degrees in there. I assumed I shouldn't just wear a T shirt in February but maybe I will next time. We went there Friday night 3-23. We like the fish fry a lot . It was very busy 30 min wait. Not a problem totally understand. We are seated and given menus. The waitress was very rude. I'm please I found this place a couple of years ago. As compared to other alternatives in the area, it's a small, low-key bar with plenty of TVs and DAILY drink specials. Bar food is decent - my suggestion is to try their nachos and/or bbq pizza. I frequently see people of all ages here. The regulars are parked at the bar, groups are situated at tables watching TV, kids playing video games, and the younger crowd is at the outdoor patio (fyi - they don't allow pets even in the outdoor patio). I love this bar. The drinks are always great and fairly priced. The food is amazing. Their calamari is the best in town! I've never had anything over or under cooked. Never had a bad meal.
