I came back to coupa after my previous less than satisfactory review, this time with a coupon provided to try their place again. I ordered the pesto crepe and the passion fruit dessert. Both were pretty good, to my surprise. I would order those again: Comparing this to before where both items I ordered were not appealing to me and I did not finish them, I would visit Coupa again and explore the menu more, and I am glad I gave this place another try. 3 stars for now, maybe 4 if I find more items on the menu I enjoy. read more

Absolutely beautiful location- much roomier & better lit than the ones on Stanford campus. Decor for Fall was really lovely. It's a bit pricey - my arepa was like $18 but not out of line for the area. I really like their smoothies & also Mexican mocha ( I ask for mine less sweet). It's true the tip options are a bit high for a self pick up spot- but honestly the staff kept it sparkling clean & the food was good so I think it's fair, and it's spacious enough one can work or have a meeting there for a long time. Indoor & outdoor seating options & some games as well. Table tennis, corn hole etc. I was a bit perplexed my arepa did not come w the side salad this time. This cafe feels a bit corporate - which makes sense because it's close to Stanford and some other businesses, so many workers frequent it throughout the day. I've dropped in for a quick coffee and breakfast, and I would say that food/beverages are decent without being that memorable. While they have a semi-large menu, none of the items really stand out; the flavors aren't bland but don't pack a punch either. Sometimes it can get busy and you may be waiting for your order for 15 minutes or more. Service is ok - also not too memorable. There is a small parking lot in the back that can fill up quickly during the lunch hour. I haven't come here during non-lunch hours but they do currently offer a happy hour with discounted appetizers and drinks. Got there early before the lunch crowd for a burger and fries to go. 20 minutes later the place was full and others who ordered after me were getting served. After 30 minutes had to abandon my order and return to work. Place is normally good for lunch, but if they can't do a simple order in 30 minutes there are some serious staffing/management. Would recommend going well before or well after the lunch hour as they are unable to handle a crowd. read more

The woman at the cash register in the morning ignores people standing at the counter, ready to order. For a LONG time. Does not make eye contact, does not greet you, just goes about working. Leaves you hanging , as if she hopes you'll leave (which we did today). Also, the food is not great. The breakfast burrito has a lot of bacon in it. I wished I hadn't ordered it (last week). I wasn't hungry for the rest of the day. Which might sound good, but it didn't taste good. I know it's a lovely building and a great location, but I won't be back. Was excited to check out Coupa's newer location, especially after hearing about the space and ambiance. It didn't disappoint in that department. The space is great -- tons of natural light, open and airy, with plenty of seating, which makes it perfect for both working or just chilling with a coffee. Think co-working space. That said, there are a few drawbacks that are hard to ignore. First, parking is super limited, and with this location being fairly popular, you'll probably end up circling around for a bit before finding a spot or parking down the street. The biggest issue unfortunately, was the service. On my last visit, I had a pretty unpleasant interaction with one of the staff members - a young lady. I'm not sure what was going on, but the employee was incredibly rude for no apparent reason. I was polite, but was met with a dismissive attitude that made me feel unwelcome. On the flip, there's a gentleman (maybe manager) working there who is really nice and clearly values the customer experience. Lastly, I've visited 3 times and each time my order has been wrong. Food items are also somewhat pricey. Overall, the vibe is great, but the poor customer service on the last visit left a sour taste. Hope it was just a one-off experience, but it's definitely something to consider. For now, three stars. Hopefully, things improve! read more

They offer breakfast and lunch and reasonable prices. The lines can get long at peak hours, so try to sneak out for lunch early or plan to eat a bit later. As for my recommendations, while the soup I had was good but not quite a homerun, the tacos were awesome. They have a wide variety of menu options, including stuff for picky eaters, vegans, or vegetarians. Staff is friendly. Service is takeaway with limited seating. If you like great coffee but have never visited a Coupa Cafe location, then you don't know what you're missing! I was actually surprised to find this location at The Hub in the Stanford Research Park. After dropping off a bike for a flat repair, I was happy to wait at this coffee shop/restaurant in the same building. The location is where Porter Drive intersects with Hillview Avenue. There is some parking located just behind the restaurant. The shop itself offers a big, clean seating area with a very modern vibe. The huge windows and big dining area means that this Coupa Cafe is very open, bright and provides plenty of modern seating, tables and even sofas. There is also quite a bit of outdoor seating if you want to enjoy the weather and sunshine. The restaurant provides a small library of free books located inside. The staff is very patient and helpful (which is quite welcome in a coffee shop with a large and eclectic menu). The selection of coffee drinks and the menu itself is extensive enough to lure you back for repeat visits. In addition to the typical coffee shop sweet bread options, Coupa Cafe offers tacos, wraps, paninis, sandwiches, crepes and many other appealing options. This is a GREAT casual spot if you're looking for a place that is free of distractions and where you can enjoy a coffee or meal while you work on your laptop, read or become engrossed in a novel. Despite its open seating, it can also be a great place for a private meeting with coworkers or friends. It's less pretentious compared with many other local coffee shops -- and the food and drinks are very good! read more

I would love to give this place five star but I can't. Let's start with the positive. Location, I think it is great, the building is beautiful, spotlessly clean, lots of places to seat, inside or out. Big kids (adults) play ground with corn hole and stress relief games. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxing indoor. The prices are on the higher side. Now why the three stars. If a business has their swag out for sale they should have the prices too. No where is the drink container marked. When I asked the staff they had to look it up. Also you might want to add a sweatshirt? I was very surprised the silver hot drink container cup was $12.00 and the water/drink container was $24.00. Only 2 choices. Next, I ordered the Beverly Hills Chopped Salad. Coming from Southern California I remember the Copped Salad from the Beverly Hills Brown Derby! Anyway, and I ordered a Mango smoothie and a Silver drink container. Time to pay. Tap you card and answer the question the person at the register says- and the computer ask how large of tip I want to leave and gives me 4 choices the lowest was a $6.00 tip. It did NOT give me an option to leave ZERO tip. If I am not being server and picked up after and had a chance to taste the food why should I tip? Shouldn't I deserve to leave a tip or not? I the positive I was feeling was not feed good. At fast food they have brought it to our table. I had to go get it. There was not a straw in my smoothie and at that price and the tip I expected a straw. No one greeted me and handed me my food and smoothie! Again, what did I tip for? The salad was so disappointing. My husband as been at the VA Palo Alto Medical Center getting cancer treatment. We have had hospital food and I was looking forward to this salad more than you know. It has way too many chives, covered in cheese. Not enough lettuce and smothered in dressing. The balance was way off on the ingredients. I looked over at another table and the French Fries looked really good! I love their logo, location but my bill came to $43.00. I like by silver coffee drinking tumblers. Sad my salad was a disappointment, the smoothie was okay. The service was not the great, had to wait and then the tip, well not happy about that at all. read more

9/21. I askethe cashier what she recommended and her choice was a burger. I didn't get a burger but the Mediterranean Panini. The chicken by itself is still dry. However with the pesto and melted cheese it was delicious. Lucky this time I got the dressing on the side. I tried the honey Dijon and still I can handle the kick. The lady at the counter gave me a lemon dressing, this was also a bit tart for me. My mango smoothie was the best thing I had today. The people that work here are very friendly and I appreciate that. It was busy for a Friday. Lucky they have lots of seating inside and outside I'll come back if some coworkers want to come. read more

I really should've asked them to re-make it. However, I've had other items (mostly salads) that were fine. I'm not big on coffee, and the one pictured was for a friend. They just opened this Coupa Cafe in Stanford Research Park. Lots of natural light and modern interior. This is definitely a great place to meet with people as it has a lively, swanky atmosphere. You can order online, through their app, or in person. They're only open for breakfast and lunch, no dinner, which I feel is unfortunate because I know a lot of us researchers feel too tired to cook our own dinner sometimes and would rather just grab something quick from here at the end of our work days! I came here to pick up a matcha smoothie ($6.75) and a caesar salad ($13.95) for lunch. Despite it being peak lunchtime (shortly after noon), I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my order. The matcha smoothie was excellent: love the combination of mango and almond milk, could barely taste the spinach that was supposedly in the drink too but that's a plus to me lol. I would get this drink again despite it being pretty pricey for a small-ish smoothie. The caesar salad was also pricey (probably everything here is) but I did feel that it was worth the money because it's not just the basic romaine, parmesan, chicken, and croutons. The caesar salad here also has tomato and avocado which I did not expect and I very much enjoyed. Overall I was so full from getting these two items, taste and quality were great, but I probably only come here every once in a while solely based on the prices. Still, I'm happy that Coupa is here as a reliable, delicious option to feed researchers hard at work in this area! read more

For vegetarians I wouldn't say the food was amazing. The pancakes were solid but they don't give too much syrup for the to go. Servicing fine because I took it to go. It was kind of hard to tell. I got a custom salad delivered through DD from Coupa Cafe and it was okay. They got my order correct, but I wasn't impressed with the quantity of ingredients nor the size of the salad: the turkey was deli meat, the garbanzo beans, and sun dried tomatoes were from a jar, the chicken was at least cut from a breast, and the avocado was great, but there was almost none of each. If they are going to make the portions so small they should significantly limit the toppings you can choose so you get a sufficient amount of each, instead of a tiny amount of each. read more

Came here for weekday lunch. Good crowd inside which had nice modern interior and lots of tables and seating. Got the matcha smoothie which was delicious, not too sweet but just right amount of creaminess. Got the carne panini which was pretty good - good chunks of shredded beef, cheesy and hot. I came here for lunch today and ordered the veggie crunch wrap which comes with a side salad and I added a side of fries. I got the fries but no salad but one was given when asked but the dressing wasn't vegan. So I asked for a salad with vegan dressing and you can see the photo for what was given. I don't know if this is what they call a side salad but if so, this is abysmal. The wrap had no flavor and the best part of the order were the fries . Maybe the non-vegan items are good. Ordered a Pollo Arepa and a strawberry and banana smoothie. 24 dollars in total, and was given a selection of tip options (even though there isn't table service) which were only, 15%, 20%, and 25%.... What a joke. Had to manually enter 0 myself. The food was sub par and wasn't very filling. Could've used some sort of aioli sauces. This rating definitely would've been better if the food was super cheap but 24 dollars for a smoothie and one small arepa is insane. Prices and tip culture here are getting out of control. Overpriced for edible but not tasty tacos The protein option on the app menu for tacos is not explained. It means "lettuce instead of a corn tortilla," rather than more protein. Diners can check multiple options for the base. I checked both the extra 50 cents for "protein" AND the corn tortilla to go with it, but no tortillas were in my box. There was a bland dressing on the cabbage/cole slaw mix in the tacos. Would have been better plain, imo. The avocado was good. The side of salsa (also extra cost) added some desperately needed tang. It was filling enough. As other reviewers write, the space is aesthetically pleasing and fun to be in. My order was to go, so this review is focussed on the food. Meh. I expect more for $18 The location is convenient, so I will be back for at least one more time to try to find something good.
