Friendly staff right off the bat. Greeting and welcome would come to expect from a Courtyard property. Great check in, welcome gift and upgrade...kudos to management for training on Bonvoy elite levels. I know I cite this repeatedly in my (positive) hotel reviews, but my room was clean, safe and comfortable. They have a bistro and bar, both were excellent service and solid products. I tilt to the bar staff, because my only experience with the bistro was for coffee. Didn't love the breakfast Buffett options, and in a cramped service space. When I come back to Anchorage, I will definitely stay here when fling in/out. Really good Courtyard property. read more

We still enjoy our stays at this Courtyard Marriott near the Ted Stevens International Airport. It is a convenient place to stay on our trips out of Alaska. The rooms and public access areas are regularly updated and maintained and we appreciate the general cleanliness. Rates during High Tourist Season can be pricey; but the easy access from the airport makes it worthwhile to us. read more

We did purchase breakfast there and while a teeny bit on the expensive side, it was very tasty. Bonus points for complimentary shuttle to/from the airport and also free parking! Nice enough hotel and close to the airport. Hotel has an awkward layout and one of the elevators was not working. My room was a long way from the elevator. I found if I parked in the far back right corner I could go up the stairs and my room was close to the stairs. I like to walk so this was a good solution. However at nights a HOMELESS PERSON was sleeping in the stairwell!!! No joke! I told front desk, they thanked me, but did NOTHING! Stayed here 3 nights and the dude was back every night! Room thermostat DOES NOT have a hot or cool option. Instead it gives you a range of temperature and if it falls below the cool range the heat kicks in and if it falls below the cool range the a/c kicks in. The problem is the cool range is 30 Degrees higher than the warm range. As a result I couldn't get the room warmer than 69 degrees!!! Hotel has no premium movie channels (HBO/SHOWTIME) but does have Netflix. Internet was good at times and slow at other times. Has a chance to be rated higher if they fix the homeless problem and let have the room warmer. read more

This is a really nice Courtyard. The rooms are being remodeled. My room/wing was recently updated. My room was spacious. There are rooms that can be joined to make two large areas for families to make the best of. Double-sided locking doors allow for pass through options to make a family sized option out of two co-joined suites. There is a bar and bistro style restaurant near the entrance. The beds are comfortable, microwaves and small fridges are in each room. Free parking is available on site. The staff is professional and helpful. This is one of the nicest Courtyards I have stayed in. Once the refresh is completed brand wide, I think anyone choosing this Courtyard won't be disappointed! read more

Hate to leave a mediocre review but Courtyard by Marriott didn't quite earn the stars I would otherwise enjoy leaving. Was it clean? Yes. Friendly staff? Yes. Convenient location near the airport? Yes. King size beds? Yes. Bed bugs? Nope. Readily available coffee? NO!!! Stayed 3 days here and literally all 3 days, the coffee pots in the lobby were empty on every single occasion I attempted to retrieve a cup. With two separate barrels of coffee in the lobby, it's understandable to float one keg and utilize the other while brewing for the empty one. However this was not the case and really made for a bad start to the day, each day. My assumption was that there would be no "free" coffee in an attempt to push customers into the breakfast nook with Starbucks offerings (where you can buy coffee and breakfast). On day 3 I had a chance encounter with two management personnel of the hotel. I was attempting to retrieve a cup of coffee prior to departing for my flight, and could you guess, BOTH coffee kegs were once again....empty.... I asked if this was the norm, or if they truly serve coffee 24/7? They both replied there should always be coffee available but were already aware that some staff were unable to keep up with this rather daunting task. Seeing my frustration, one of the managers offered to make me a Starbucks espresso before I left town. This was absolutely the saving grace of my entire stay here because I literally was ready to meltdown. I've traveled and stayed many places over the years and this truly is the first time that I've ever encountered a consistently empty boat of coffee. Does coffee make or break your decision on a place to stay? Probably not. But consistently empty coffee, was not only annoying, it absolutely would change my mind about where I stay next time. read more

Even if they got you on video smoking outside theyll charge you a cleaning fee of 250$ oh an most complementary breakfast you looking at 16$ per person. Curine front desk will scam you anyway she can. Would never stay at this hotel ever again which kinda sucks cause pool, Cafe and bar were great. But if you expect to try your local dispensary thats 0.2 miles and they even smell it in the room you'll get a smoking charge even tho youre clearly seen smoking outside all hours of the day and why would I do that you say if im smoking in the room? I realize this hotel is someone's source of income. However, the service we received was subpar. The place is under construction. Great. It needs updating. Knowingly checking people but not informing them of a lack of hot water is unacceptable and poor business. watch your belongings! I loved this hotel till today. Today, I left my wedding rings in the room. when I realized they were missing, I was in Palmer. I called immediately and was told by receptionist and housekeeping that nothing was found, I told them I would return and look again. I was escorted by the housekeeping supervisor to room 109. she proceeded to show me everywhere she looked. We then went to the laundry. She also denied seeing any rings in the linens. I am heartbroken at the loss. Nothing can replace these rings watch your belongings closely. please don't leave anything... it will be gone!! read more

Professional, friendly staff, and comfy bed made this a solid stay. Every single staffer I passed in the hall greeted me with a smile, held a door or elevator for me without my asking, and offered assistance if I looked lost. There is an airport shuttle, but you have to arrange it in advance with the front desk. I chose to walk instead, as it is less than 1.5 miles to the airport, the trail is scenic, and the weather cooperated for both my arrival and departure days. Early check in was not available, even though I am a Marriott Bonvoy member (not even 5 minutes) because they were full and they literally finished cleaning my room right at 3 and were still cleaning next door when I got my key. I didn't get a balcony as my reservation indicated, but I did get a real tub as promised. The room was clean, though there were some minor maintenance issues (rust under the grab bar in the shower, 2 stained (but laundered) towels (hard to see in photos), and the peephole cover didn't work as it just needed to be adjusted (but I didn't have a coin to do it myself)). The in-room lighting is harsh (feels like cold fluorescent) and the light switch for the toilet and tub is outside the door by the sink and kitchenette. The lighting in the lobby has a similar feel, which, for a modern hotel under this flag, feels surprisingly gloomy and closed in due to lack of windows and a relatively low ceiling there. Even though I was close to the elevator, the room was quiet (except for some heavy footsteps from the room above and hallway noise of kids running (but not yelling)). They were repairing one entrance to the pool and one ice machine, lacking signage to redirect you to alternate locations, but most everything looked well cared for. They also just upgraded the room thermostats and provided a little note card about how to use them. They did not, however, share the wifi password, though I didn't end up needing it anyway and I probably could have asked if I had. The beds here are far superior to the fancy ones they tout at their sister Residence Inn in Midtown (36th and New Seward Hwy). There is quite a bit of road noise in busy Spenard where SDE people rev their engines frequently, but it didn't bother me as I'm used to it and I left my window open all night. The in-room coffee was terrible and I wish the staff or signage had informed me of a few other amenities, like the fruited water in the hall I only discovered on my way out (and it was empty at 7AM). Breakfast is for purchase (not free) and the Bistro has limited hours and a limited menu, but the sugar waffles with berries were tasty (see separate check in there). It's u clear if you can call and order ahead for pick up or kf you have to go stand in line. Service was quick, even with only 2 people working breakfast at 6:30AM. I'll return, if someone else is footing my bill again (work) since the posted rate for single King is $229+ and tax in spring. read more

I booked and was charged for a king bed, get here and was given a room with a queen. I measured the bed and called the front desk, only to be asked "what do I need a king for" and then told the room I was in had their king size bed, a king size bed is not 60 inches across, it's 76 across. Good to know that the Marriott: 1. Feels I have to justify being in a room I paid for. 2. Thinks I don't know the difference between a king and queen. read more

We have been staying here whenever we're in town. We were always impressed with the courtesy of the staffs. But cleanliness not so much. Recently, we are disappointed to find hairs in our pillows we have not used it! In addition , a dry mucus in the comforter. Gross! read more

Several years ago Marriott Courtyard updated the decor across their properties. The setting is modern and relaxing, with nice lounge areas near the lobby, and clean updated rooms. There is a bistro for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a full bar, and the usual accommodations expected like gym, pool, mini market for snacks, business center. I have stayed at several Courtyard properties and I have found the accommodations, quality and service to be consistently good. We chose to stay here because it is close to the airport with shuttle service. I also knew we would have all we needed here for a quick and comfortable overnight stay, which is what we happily found. The hotel shuttle picked us up from the airport within minutes after calling. We were glad of this, arriving late afternoon after flying all day to get to Anchorage. The location is walking distance to a few nearby restaurants, which we considered. However, this Courtyard had a nice separate bar/lounge area and we decided there was nowhere better to be than there. We sat at the bar and ordered chicken wings and a turkey Reuben sandwich, along with an IPA for my husband and a nice glass of Pinot Noir for me. It was all very good, and it was exactly what we needed after a long day of travel. All of the staff here was extremely helpful and friendly. Note that the hotel is a distance from downtown. If your travel plans include frequenting Downtown Anchorage, this location may not be ideal for you. The Courtyard Anchorage Airport met the needs of our travel plans, and definitely lived up to what I had hoped for and expected from a Courtyard property. read more

Stayed here while I was in Anchorage. The staff at check in was very nice but the hotel was FILLED with people, specifically children running around. Our room was ok but could be better. With a stain on my bed and the restrooms lacking amenities (towels, shampoo, soap, conditioner) as well as it being a bit cramped... it really made the stay feel mediocre to less-than-average. I wish the hotel would do renovations and at least change the carpet out to a hard flooring so that all the dirt/ice/rain that gets tracked in doesn't make a mess on the carpet in the room and leave it dirty. This is a Marriott chain... I would have expected something like that. Also, upon booking the hotel we were promised free breakfast. But I didn't get any of that (I know Courtyard's breakfast isn't free but I had booked with some sort of breakfast package and didn't receive it) read more

We use this hotel everytime we travel from Anchorage. One of the main reasons is because they have ALWAYS let us leave our truck here for when we travel for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. We always have it pre approved as well. Well, now that we are here and have to be at the airport in just a couple of hours, they are telling us that we can NOT leave our vehicle here.. and not only did that happen but they treated us VERY poorly. Talked to us in a way that made me feel small. I don't know how to explain it. But we're not happy about it. read more

The TV signal occasionally faded in and out Overall, this was a great affordable place to stay that's really close to the airport and yet not too far from Downtown. As you can see, the pros clearly outnumbered the cons during my stay. Also it should be noted that I arrived at about 2:30 am, the hotel shuttles were running, and the check in process was super fast. The lady knew all of us just wanted to get to our rooms to sleep. This hotel is really well kept, clean and beautiful. Morning staff is friendly. Rooms were quiet and dark (very important with 21 hrs. Of daylight). Only bummer was the lack of free breakfast and if we had slept in past 8 the small planes across the street probably would have woken us up. So we'd ask to be on the back side of the hotel next time. Double bed room had a nice pull out sofa too so my family of 5 was comfortable. we'd definitely stay here again, but would leave to get breakfast. read more

PRO: The new showers are nice. The Internet seems to work well. The room was mostly clean. CON: 2:45 AM fire alarm activation and cancellation. My room keys deactivated day 5 of 9. Sequins and confetti in my room carpet the first 3 days I was here indicate a lack of vacuuming. The hallways are shabby and run down especially the stairwells where the same crackers were crushed into the carpet for 4 days before being vacuumed. read more

Although the express van from the airport was free it was totally filthy. All the common areas in the hotel felt dirty as well. The furniture in the room was old and had multiple stains. The hotel staff was nice and attentive, that was the best thing about the hotel. But that really didn't overcome the dirtyness of the hotel for the price. read more

At 7:20am there was no coffee in lobby. Large coffee carafe was empty. Front desk told us to make it in our rooms if we wanted it, and that it was not there responsibility to provide us free coffee beyond that. Housekeeping left ONE coffee packet in room for two registered guests. Why put out guest coffee carafe if you refuse to fill it so early, and then inform guests to drink coffee in their rooms or purchase at Bistro??? Poor guest service after spending over $550 for two rooms. Come on Marriott, you're a world leader in this industry. (Also, please remove crayon marks from wallpaper in rooms.) read more

You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. They put a facade on the front of the building to make it look up to date but the rooms are basically the same as they were 20 years ago. Small sink, torn furniture.... The worst is room 346 which has some mechanical equipment above it that was so loud and put out a deep vibration that it honestly felt and sounded like an earthquake. A loud rumble just above the closet and the ceiling over the bed put out sounds of snap, krackle, pop continuously. When I requested a different room (at 4:00) they said they could not change it since they were sold out - but half the room had not been checked in yet. Finally, with enough pleading it was able to get another room. Fortunately the bed was great. Next time I will stay away from the e airport and in a hotel that would not even consider booking out a room like 346. read more

This hotel is conveniently located near the Anchorage airport. It was a beautifully designed hotel both in the public spaces and in the guest rooms. The lobby was modern and comfortable. The bar and coffee shop were well stocked and offered a nice variety of options. I had the cobb salad and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and kind. The guest room was well equipped and allowed me to relax even more on my vacation. I liked the sliding shower door and the love seat with rolling ottoman. The only downside was in the hallway, there was an air freshener whose battery was low. The device emitted a constant beep indicating the low battery. We informed the front desk a few times but the issue was not resolved. Since it was right outside our room, we could hear it all day and night. Minus one star. They did let us check in early after a red eye flight at no additional charge! This kind of customer service is what builds loyalty and would keep me as a repeat customer if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Eventually they figured out their mistakes. Totally wasted of my time! Update: when checking out, the front desk lady said they couldn't find my information and I had to swipe my card AGAIN! Seems like a nice hotel until you look closely. When I checked-in I noticed urine all over the back of the toilet. I went to the front desk and asked to have the toilet cleaned. Next morning when getting out of the shower I noticed the bottom of the toilet was completely covered in dried urine. Makes me think what else isn't clean? read more

I stayed at the Courtyard Anchorage Airport for three nights on the top (third) floor in one of the newly renovated rooms in March 2015 while volunteering for the Iditarod. I was told that I was one of the first few guests to stay in my room since the work was completed. The room was average sized, but tastefully decorated. The bed was the most comfortable that I have experienced - ever. The bed was so lovely that, when I got food poisoning from dinner one night (at the Sea Galley, but that's another review), I was quite content with the possibility of spending the next day in the room recovering. The room included a sliding door and small balcony (with outside furniture) that looked out on the eponymous courtyard and pool. There's a mini fridge and microwave oven, too. Oh, and Paul Mitchell (!) hair products in the bath. The workout facility was adequate, and fairly small, though all of the equipment seemed to be in working order. There's also a sauna, whirl pool and indoor pool, although I did not witness anyone using those. The guest laundry includes two washers and two dryers ($1.50 each for a 30-minute cycle). All the machines seemed new and operated very well, e.g., the dryer did not need extra funds to complete its task. The ground-floor bar and food-service area, though visually attractive and inviting, did not seem popular. I had breakfast there one morning; it was perfectly fine, though nothing special. Staff on all levels, from shuttle driver and front-desk clerk to cleaning person and barista, was consistently pleasant and helpful. Upon this writing, there is still some construction underway in the facility, so you may encounter work people coming and going with their equipment and supplies. The few times I ran into a construction worker when I was waiting for the elevator, they deferred to me and elected to take the next lift (policy perhaps?). I had a most pleasant experience here, doubtless a combination of the newness of the room that I was assigned and the genial nature of the staff. Everything was new and clean and, unlike many other places that I have stayed, I was not afraid to peer too closely at things for fear of what I might discover. Perfect location to airport and other downtown and central Anchorage activities and restaurants. Of course they offer a free shuttle to and from the airport. Always a plus. Front desk staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive to you needs. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. My husband and I are here in Anchorage on vacation and my husband got very ill and has been in the hospital for the past 4 days, I checked in thinking I'd only need a night and everyone here has been so accommodating and extremely helpful, I'm not even sure if they are aware that even the smiles you get from the front desk as you come and go is so great! My Flight got in at 11pm ..I was tired and had deal with rude people the whole day from the TSA..down to just people in general .. But when I arrived ..courtesy of Court yard pick up .. The Driver was very nice .. The Hotel Attendant (Front Desk..female) Was super nice ! Helpfull and caring.. I truelly appreciate my stay at Court yard Anchorage Ak. The room was beautiful clean, spacious, and I requested a room on first floor as I'm a small woman and have luggage that's hard to maneuver. Hotel front desk woman kindly made that happen. One gentleman and one lady working the afternoon shift were helpful, hospitable and nice. The evening shift was not only unfriendly, but anytime I reached out I was ignored. I asked for silverware and the women at the front desk ver batim said "if your food is cooked properly you shouldn't need it." Did not provide anything. I pointed out there was silverware next to them and they said it's dirty and would not wash it. Hell, I would have washed it myself if necessary. It's my 3rd evening here and I'm extremely disappointed in the attitude from the women at the front desk. read more

Nice impression from the get go. Modern lobby & helpful staff. Arrived around 6 am & room ready. Interesting room layout (and square pillows), but workable space and bathroom very clean. Checked in and out of here a total of three times during our stay exploring Anchorage to Fairbanks and everywhere in between. I like the pool, sauna, jacuzzi and workout room (however limited and more like a cardio room with a single bench and entry level free weights). Breakfast area was nice with built in televisions in the available booths. Breakfast not provided and for purchase near reception. Free coffee and tea available and a limited bar with weird hours, so good luck. Overall a decent stay and I would certainly return as parking is ample and it's across the street from the Millenium Hotel (more expensive) that houses a nice bar with great taps. read more

The quality of Marriott's are very consistent, no matter where you are in the states. The location is a pretty good one if you do not need to be in downtown Anchorage. It is across the street from Lake Hood; grab a bite to eat at the Millenium Hotel bar that overlooks the lake. The lobby at the Courtyard is well-appointed and comfortable. They have an open-air bistro that serves pretty good breakfast sandwiches. The gym here is small but holds two treadmills, an (old) eliptical, free weights and a bike. The treadmill is in good condition and I enjoyed my run. Adjacent to the gym is a pool, whirlpool and sauna. The sauna was nonworking at the time, but the whirlpool was pretty nice. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. They have free wifi and HBO; but otherwise, I found the channel selection to be rather limited. The most annoying part of the hotel is the elevator. There is only one in the hotel, and it is painfully slow, for only serving three floors. They need to have it recertified as well, it expired in 2011; I'll email the hotel to let them know. Oh yes, and for the height of summer in Anchorage, the price was pretty painful at $220 a night. I know AK gouges customers to make up for no foot traffic in the winter, but the hotel is not worth that much per night. What's funny was their posted rack rate for a double room at $450 a night. read more
