This location in Midtown is a notch below other Embassy Suites in the country. Let's start off with the good. I like the open, atrium feel of Embassy Suites. It's different than the norm and it's welcoming and beautiful. To be honest, I don't know why more restaurants don't do it. Another great thing is their complimentary social hour. From 5:30-7, each guest gets two free mixed drinks, beer, or wine from the hotel bar. The liquor isn't top-tier by any stretch of the imagination, but two drinks is nice. And they also have complimentary snacks. When I was there, it was chips and salsa, home made chips, and veggies with ranch. A third nice thing about Embassy Suites is their breakfast which extends beyond your typical breakfast fare at hotel chains. More options and a made-to-order omelette station. The downside is that the selection wasn't as good here as their location in Glendale, California that I recently stayed at. Overall, the breadth of options and the quality of the food was good there. Still though, solid for a hotel breakfast. On the flip side, you have to pay $32 for parking. I'm morally opposed to paying for parking at a hotel. It's a cheap money scheme. The happy hour and breakfast help make up for it, but still. The room was comfortable and clean. A little small but still pleasant. The only real issue I had with my room was the shower. I'm 6'2" and the shower head was too low. I had to get uncomfortable to wash my hair. If you're tall, you'll have the same issue. If you're short, you're fine. They have a pool, an indoor one, but it's pretty meh. I checked it out but decided to pass. Overall, a pleasant stay. They just have a little work to do to get up to other Embassy Suites locations. Last but not least, they granted me a late check out of 1 p.m. which was appreciated.

There is a small area to hang clothes, but storage is somewhat limited. The room did include a coffee maker and two complimentary water bottles in the mini fridge, which was a nice touch. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We also ordered food while relaxing at the pool, and it was surprisingly good with reasonable prices. The pool area is one of the highlights of the property. There are plenty of lounge chairs, and the staff does a great job keeping towels stocked throughout the day. Since temperatures were over 100 degrees during our visit, it wasn't surprising that the pool was very busy. The hotel is located in a nice area surrounded by newer apartment communities, with plenty of parking and numerous dining options nearby. Just be sure to check restaurant hours before heading out. My only real complaint was the pool water. It appeared cloudy during our first evening swim, and I expected it to clear up overnight. Unfortunately, when we returned around 11 a.m. the next day, the water was still cloudy. Aside from that issue, the hotel provided a comfortable stay with great service and a convenient location. We were disappointed to find out it's just an indoor simulator, not the outdoor, multi-level setup shown in the pictures. I'm highly allergic to dogs and cats, and I didn't realize this hotel was so pet-friendly. I had an allergic reaction the first night, coughed heavily, took my inhalers and Benadryl and thought I could get through the night. Jessica at the front desk was helpful when I asked to be moved to a room that didn't have pet visitors, but she said there are no rooms like that. Pets are allowed in all rooms. She had housekeeping clean my room, vacuum, and change the air filters. Unfortunately, I continued to cough and needed meds all week, and just limited my time in the room as much as possible, which was only to sleep as I'm at work all day. In retrospect, I should have changed hotels. I'm grateful to Jessica for her help though. On the plus side, loved the pool and hot tub, although guests smoke outside so that's rough if you are sensitive to smoke. Breakfast was very nice. Free, plentiful, nutritious. And there's a soda fountain at the breakfast bar with Diet Coke, which I can't get at Marriott properties. Jason at check-in was especially friendly and welcoming.
