The woman that waited on me at the Statbucks in the Hotel was one of the rudest people I have come across. There was a dance competition going on at the Convention Center. Lots of business from there. And I heard from quite a few other people that she was extremely rude to them too. So we left without ordering. And we went with UberEats. However, there is no website provided on the yelp site and when trying to send a message to the hotel, the message replies that they are not receiving messages. This is the worst Courtyard At which I have ever stayed. That is saying a lot. I have more than 1600 nights in a Marriott and this place disappoints all the time. The televisions are broken often. It was this stay. The place has a bad sewer smell/ mold/ mildew throughout. The only moderately decent food was the breakfast buffet, and they did away with that. The managers are rarely on duty, and generally unresponsive when there. I love Marriotts and am very loyal to them, but this one is really sub-par. They will probably punish me for this review. read more

Yikes - I wanted to like this hotel, but everything was just kind of a hassle. We arrived late on a Friday evening, so we're tired and just wanted to go to bed. The gentleman at the front desk was super nice but talked a lot, so took us about 10 minutes to check in. Finally got to our room, opened the door and there was a family already in there!! We apologized, went back down to the desk where there was quite a line, and waited about 7-8 more minutes to talk to someone and explain. When we did, instead of just giving us another room, the two desk agents decided to kick the family out of our room. Seriously?! Who does that? Made a bad situation worse. We go back up to the room where there is now a security guard waiting to escort the family out. Takes the family 4-5 minutes to pack back up. In the meantime, a young couple walks past us with drinks in their hands, and goes right into our room! By now it's a party room. The family et all finally leave and apologize to us for taking the wrong room. All the while I'm thinking, how did they get in there in the first place? Kind of scary, security-wise. Of course when we checked out, guess what was on our invoice? The family's restaurant tab. Nice place, friendly staff, but just too much hassle and some interesting decision making. Also, expensive parking and no free breakfast. Will probably not stay there again. read more

I have stayed in this location several times related to work and I have never stayed here when there wasn't some billing issue or drama with the check in process or drama with the management. I am an ambassador with Marriott and it means nothing. So don't bother with the loyalty at this location. Fortunately I have enjoyed excellent service from Marriott around that world. Just avoid this location. They are a disorganized joke and don't bother with the manager. He is no better. read more

Right in downtown Tacoma near the waterfront and within walking distance to restaurants, shops and the glass museum, I was impressed with Courtyard in a few ways. Their service was excellent, the room was clean, valet was fast, and room service was just as prompt. Everyone we encountered was friendly, and after-hours when the coffee shop was closed one of the front desk attendants took the time to make me a drink anyway. Courtyard is in a good location; we walked most places. If you're looking for some good eats and a great happy hour, just go downstairs to Pacific Grill - the prices are excellent and the food is pretty good. The rooms have been updated fairly recently and our bed was comfortable. There's a small gym downstairs, don't expect enough space to do anything dynamic though; and the pool and jacuzzi are awkwardly located just adjacent, with big glass windows and doors so that people on the street or walking into the restaurant can see in. Because of the uncomfortable visibility, I opted not to use the pool facilities, but they said it was heated. There aren't a helluva a lot of hotel choices in Tacoma. I'm generally a Marriott fan as you know what you should get in any given city and you normally get just that. As Courtyard's go, this one is actually one of the better ones I've stayed in. I was there for over a week and didn't have any problems what so ever. I just stayed there over Labor Day weekend and I was very impressed. The staff was friendly, the room was great, and the view was amazing. Union Station, Mt Rainier, the waterway, sunrise over the Cascades, everywhere I looked, I enjoyed the view. I had no problem with valet parking, in fact, I was driving a pickup with lawn furniture in the back and they kept it out front so they could "keep an eye on it". Not exactly your typical vehicle at a Marriott and I appreciated that they cared more about my stuff than their image. The hot tub was hot, the decor was tasteful and included blown glass..appropriate as they are across the street from the Tacoma Glass Museum. I will definately stay there again. read more

Terrible beds, loud wall air conditioner, noisy rooms, terrible service, ugh! This is a convention hotel without an ounce of charm. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. The front desk lied and said no upgrades available for a marriott platinum even though many view rooms and a suite were available online until 11 pm. The $10/day bistro credit was difficult to redeem, all considered this is a terrible hotel and i would never return. read more

Not happy with the hotel. Flying out at 6 am and they couldn't transfer reservation to Seattle. We flew up because my brother was in the hospital. Daylight savings time. Have to leave 3 am. Drag my 92 year old mother out of bed. Parking is up around the corner. Cost me over $300. Ugh. read more

We stayed here two nights as we went on discovering Tacoma. A nice clean hotel,within walking distance of plenty of nice amenities including Tacoma Art Museum, and the Tacoma Children Museum. They also have a pool, which is a nice plus with the kids. Room were very nice and comfortable, even with the kid's crib and two beds. We slept like babies. read more

Been staying at a lot of Courtyards and other hotels lately, mainly Marriott brands in the Pacific NW due to work travel. This Courtyard is on par with a full scale Marriott. We were thinking about booking a hotel for the night, so my boyfriend called to make reservations and the attending staff was very rude when speaking to us. No hospitality, felt like it was extremely hard to even get any information. When it was time to give our information, was told that what we were saying was wrong instead of just being helpful. Seemed lije staff was not knowledgable in hotel amenities. Ended up getting hung up on. Complained to management after calling back, and it is taking a while to get through again. Hopefully all goes well after this. Very unsatisfied with our experience so far. read more

The Waddell Suite is worth the extra 30$ a night! We enjoyed the flat screen in the bathroom and the Jacuzzi tub. The Clara Spa was extremely luxurious and Breakfast was out of this world. The staff was knowlegable and friendly. They suggested we dine at the Pacific Grill Restaurant which was delicious and near bye. Overall great hotel. read more

Do not take the time. In town for a cheer competition and we waited in line for food for 30 minutes, then was told everything we were trying to order was "out" including a hamburger and pot pie. Then we waited with our group for another 30-45 minutes to only get half of our order being told "I heard it in passing." I paid over $40 for two small pastas and a side of fries. The runner (not a server since we had to wait at the bar so long to order) was rude and argumentative. Left without my 2nd pasta due to the frustration of waiting for an hour for food that was sub par with horrible service. With a hotel that is literally across the street from a big venue you'd think they'd be more prepared for large groups. Another family waited for 45 minutes in line to be told the food would be 45 minutes and had to leave back for the competition without food or drinks. Walk to any other establishment to recharge and get substance during an event. read more

Stayed here over night in December for company Christmas party. The room was very nice, spacious, comfortable king bed, large bathroom, quiet even though the freeway was right outside. Parking is the biggest flaw. We arrived between 6pm and 7pm along with 200 other guests. Had to park a few blocks away and walk with luggage in the cold to the hotel. I guess being in the downtown area parking is prime real estate. The buffet we had for dinner was less than memorable, I would rate it as less than expected for a buffet. They had 3 bars for our party, the bartenders were not well versed in many mixed drinks and they use glasses smaller than the average bar, yet charge the typical price. Again this stay was for a Christmas party so most of the flaws is probably due to the amount of people to staff. I would stay there again just for the fact the rooms were very nice and very reasonable in price. Great location for those visiting Tacoma, many points of interest within walking distance. read more

This has been my "go to" hotel for work in Tacoma for the last few years. Since my first trip, the hotel has been made to be more in line with the standard Courtyard and as a result has really dropped in quality. Since the change, they've lost In Room Dining, the separate full lobby bar, and most recently any weights over 10 pounds in the exercise room. This last change makes it impossible to actually work out at the hotel. I am really disappointed that this hotel has lost these distinguishing features and now can not complete with the Murano hotel near by. Too bad... read more

As usual we arrived close to midnight and the same team member that checked us in last time was not to friendly once again. We slept great as the bed was super comfortable and the bedding was just right. Clean rooms and awesome shower with lots of pressure! The elevator asked for a card but only in the morning on our way to breakfast. The Bistro was great with a nice selection and our Strawberries and Oatmeal were delish. We called to get our car and the guy handed us our keys and pointed to our car so we carried our luggage and left. We always valet and that was a first for us. Saying all that we will be back as it's still one of three hotels we'd even consider. read more

We stayed at the Courtyard on March 16 to attend a wedding located at the Union Tacoma Station. From the valet attendant to the front desk registration, everything was first class. The Filipina lady working at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is gorgeous, clean and has a nice ambiance as soon as you walk in. The room and beds (2 queen size) were very comfortable and they had everything anyone needed. I'm a clean freak and this hotel passed with flying colors. Good location, near bars and restaurants and close to the interstate for egress to Seattle and the airport. Hotel staff were very friendly and answered questions thoroughly. I liked that they had laundry facilities on site, and that they provide the detergent and dryer sheets free of charge ($2 total for one load of laundry to be washed and dried). Breakfast in the cafe was tasty and quick, but some more options would be nice. Internet was slow but worked (I guess because they want you to pay extra for "enhanced" internet). I would definitely stay here again if in Tacoma for work or pleasure. read more

I'm a Tacoma local, but this is where my parents stay when they are in town and they love it. Rooms are clean and quiet and the staff is friendly. The lobby is a nice place to hang out and have a drink. The only draw back is lack of parking, but they have valet. It's downtown, so parking is probably par for the course! read more

Really a surprise in that it competes well with several 'regular' Marriotts I've been at. Nice rooms and amenities, staff are particularly helpful and kind. I arrived early and Matt at the front desk checked my bag while I went to grab lunch, housekeeping finished early because I was waiting, and he then had the bag waiting in the room when I got back. The rooms themselves are comfortable and nice. The service is awful. I was at the Market for dinner out of convenience. I travel with Marriott 4 times a month and usually enjoy the Market and the staff. Last night the girl was very nice but the service was painfully slow. It wouldn't be a problem waiting over am hour for a drink and pot stickers if they acknowledged the situTion and / or offered you a glass of wine for your trouble. I attended a second night in hopes they were just having a bad night. This time Kelsea was the only one down there with a. smile. The other girl, Grace was RUDE and needs a serious attitude adjustment. It's not like I spent 10-15 dollars at the Market, a good 80.00 of my hard earned money was spent and as a Platinum member you except service and a tad bit of respectful behavior. . This hotel has potential but needs serious hospitality training. read more

This is my go to hotel when staying in the Tacoma area. I have stayed here and at the Murano and this hotel is much more in line with what I expect when I am on the road for business. Rooms are decent size, beds are comfortable, the breakfast area has a nice buffet. It is close to just about everything in the main part of downtown Tacoma. If this hotel is fully booked when I am making travel arrangements, i actually cringe at the idea of staying elsewhere in Tacoma. read more

This is in regards to the salon and spa inside the hotel. Might I suggest a better approach when taking calls from the customers of the prior salon, Sublime? I was just there 2 months ago and pre-booked an appt with my stylist. I was horribly offended when I called to confirm that appointment and was told that Sublime 'went out of business' and that they had 'no idea' where my stylist was working. The person didn't even try to offer me an appointment with a stylist in the new salon. I found it completely unprofessional to be told that Sublime went out of business (especially since I know that isn't what happened), and I feel like they wasted an opportunity to retain a client. I am huge on referrals and send tons of friends and family to the places where I do business. A more professional approach might be to say that Clara is the new name of the salon and is under new ownership. They have a beautiful spa and still have a few excellent staff there. I have enjoyed their spa services in the past from Jackie and Destiny and would have considered returning to the spa for services other than my hair, but not a chance after that phone call. Second of two nights here. Extremely easy to get thru. Property in excellent shape. Soft, comfortable bed, large bathroom, fridge and microwave. Quiet. Decent but limited foor at Bistro grill. We booked our room 2 months in advance. Knowing our flight didn't arrive until 8:30PM. We were looking forward to having a relaxing easy check in. They over booked rooms so they told us that we had to go to a Best Western 10 min away. That it wouldn't be a problem that we had to take our bags and take another cab to another hotel... The person that didn't help us was named Westly. They never once offered compensation for this inconvenience. Now we are staying at a Best Western not in downtown Tacoma... Never once apologized.
