We actually made a special trip out after seeing this food truck on Facebook--and overall, it was a good experience, just not quite what we expected. I ordered the hot lobster with butter. It was definitely tasty, but it came out more warm than hot, which was a little disappointing. Flavor-wise it was good, just not something I'd rave about or go out of my way for again. Not sure the point of the 'slaw' as a base as it really wasn't edible. That said, the tater tots were delicious--crispy, well-seasoned, and honestly one of the highlights of the meal. Also worth noting, the wait time was short, which was a nice surprise. It is a bit on the pricey side for a food truck, but when you compare it to lobster dishes at a nicer sit-down restaurant, it's probably pretty comparable. One day while driving through a parking lot, there the truck sat, in front of Loki brewery in Arvada and I swear the angels sang. I quickly made a U-turn to find a parking spot and headed over to order. What I swallowed: GARLIC BUTTER LOBSTER ROLL: This was everything I dreamed off. Hot, buttery, garlicy goodness. I've tried to be a loyal customer to this truck. This last visit is the final straw. We visited in Castle Rock this week at the local brewery. Hadn't been in a bit because of poor quality. I received an ad for the Flight. All three sandwiches in a mini size. Sounded intriguing so gave it a shot. Ordered my meal, asked specifically for the two hot sandwiches to please be freshly cooked and hot. This has been a problem. So after a 20 minute wait, I received what I thought would be fresh hot sandwiches. They were cute... sadly not hot at all. Was hard to discern between the hot sandwiches and the chilled sandwich. First bites I thought I was eating the chilled. Next... price vs quantity. They've raised their prices nearly 24% and this new flight was a whopping $33 for three very small rolls. All would've been good quantity wise had there actually been a good amount of lobster in them. In theory, three little sandwiches that cost $8 more than the single, should have had a bit more total weight of lobster in them. This was not the case. The rolls had a very this slit in top and a few pieces of lobster laid in to make it look like you were getting a lot of lobster. Instead, it was less lobster than in a single sandwich. Had I never had problems before, I'd have spoken up and waited for a remake. My experience previously was one of "we don't care" attitude and acted put out when I asked for fresh, hot lobster. I've reached out to corporate previously and been offered a free clam chowder. This I don't eat and is not the same as taking care of a very expensive sandwich. Goodbye Cousins Lobster in Denver. I happened to be visiting in the Aventine neighborhood, near County Line & Kendrick Castillo Way and saw the Cousins Maine Lobster truck in the parking lot. First time customer. Friendly, helpful and fast service. Everything looked good on the menu. They had lobster rolls, lobster tacos, lobster grilled cheese, lobster quesadillas, bisques/chowders, and more. Drove to the brewery where the truck parked. Some people waiting. I decided on the Connecticut roll as it's warm to try and he ordered the Maine. The rolls are not large, a handful. I heard another customer order extra meat so I went with it. We came home and had lunch. He ate his in a couple of bites. He didn't think it was worth the price. The Connecticut roll was good. The roll soft and buttery, the lobster warm. The extra meat was good. Was it worth the $8? I don't know. Did I walk away from the meal happy we drove down and spent $70? This food truck is not reliable in the Denver area. I have tried three times to order from their food truck, and each time it didn't show up. I called today when I arrived (as soon the event was scheduled to open) when no truck was there. A rep told me it wasn't coming at all. The Facebook event was never updated. We went to the food truck while it was in Highlands Ranch by Max Taps. We ordered the Connecticut lobster roll and the shrimp tacos and the food was ready quite quick! The Connecticut roll was definitely on the smaller side, but honestly, it exceeded my exceptions and I was really happy! We grew up in MA, and lobster is my favorite food, but I hardly get it in CO, unless it's in a pasta, but even then, it's not always great quality, so I was really happy with the taste despite the size! The shrimp tacos were also good, we just were honestly still hungry afterwards so the portion for the price was a little out of proportion for us. This was our first return to Cousins since a really horrible experience just about a year ago. The experience was much, much, much better. The truck was parked on Eastman at an apartment complex very near to our home. We opted to walk over and try this again. Our order was taken graciously and promptly. We ordered two Connecticut rolls, a lobster grilled cheese, two large lobster bisques, two sodas and chocolate/red velvet Whoopis. It took about ten minutes to assemble our order. This time, it was packaged well, had utensils, napkins and was complete. When we returned home, our lunch was fresh, well prepared tasty and just what we were wanting on this beautiful summer day. The lobster tail was way overpriced and overcooked. It was about 4 forks of lobster, plain shredded cabbage, no dressing and about 50 greasy deep fried tater tots. And I thought the whoopie pie ($5) was not good or fresh. It's prepackaged and processed. I would probly get the lobster roll again because it wasn't a bad price and the lobster tasted good. Second time to ever have their lobster off the food truck, and I'm honestly not sure what's so great about them. My first experience was a lobster roll, which while good, was really small and not worth the high price for three bites. Today I tried the lobster tacos. Again, tacos are about as small as street tacos can be. Any amount of lobster was overpowered by the mayo sauce slathered on top. Just not worth it for $18 + tax and tip. For anyone who thinks this is great lobster, I wonder if they've truly had fresh, succulent lobster from Maine or anywhere else in New England for that matter. I have been going monthly to Cousin's Maine Lobster truck for over a year. When I go, I invite from15-20 people to join me. The last few times I've gone I've ordered extra lobster meat for $8.00. They are VERY STINGY, 2 pieces of meat, 1 - 1 inch and the other 2 inches. barely a bite for $8. I have pictures which wouldn't paste. There wasn't a lid on one of the sauces. Slacking. The tacos had 1 and a half small pieces of lobster in each of 3 tacos. I asked about the extra lobster meat, and they told me they weighed it. I asked them to re-weigh, and they wouldn't. They haven't been pleasant about these issues. I have been a huge support and influencer of the CMLT. The community where I live got them to come over here in their food truck and it www just amazing and I was very surprised how much people showed up and how amazing and well put together the food truck had 2 huge tvs hooked up to it and showed omggggggggg Gordon Ramsey and how he rated and ate their amazing delicious lobster! We had seen Cousin's on Shark Tank a while back and were excited to see that they are in the Denver area now. Love lobster so much! We stopped by Launch Pad Brewery to get our lobster on. They constantly had a line but were quick with getting orders out. We ordered a Connecticut style lobster roll, a lobster grilled cheese and comes with tots and a cup of lobster bisque. The lobster roll was small and the lobster itself wasn't warm, which I thought was weird with it being the Connecticut style. The lobster grilled cheese was absolutely amazing! The best lobster grilled cheese I have ever had. It had the perfect ratio of lobster to cheese. The lobster bisque was really good too and had a bunch of chunks of delicious fresh lobster in it. First things first, yes the lobster is delicious and yes the service is good. There's no denying that BUT, the cost is a bit spendy. This is not something the average lobster enthusiast can indulge in frequently. I ordered The Denver Special with the Connecticut roll along with a lobster grilled cheese. This together was $52 (including tip). I'm glad I only got a couple things for my family and I to try together because had I got full portions for all of us, I most likely would've spent $100+. Some of you might be wondering, "how big could your family be?" Well to answer that, very small. I'm an only child raised by two chefs and we all eat BIG. The lobster roll I mentioned previously? Just bit longer than a 12oz can of soda. Also it wasn't very wide either. The bread used is Texas toast and in my opinion you'd might as well be eating air. BUT!!! The lobster is clearly fresh, based on looks, aroma, and flavor. Additionally, you get a truck ton of tater tots while the sandwiches themselves are, dare I say, kid sized. The photo I included is an example of this. I received two large boxes, like in the photo, and one small box, like in the photo. When I first opened up my bag of food, my first thought was, "Oh! The small box is DEFINITELY the tater box." Wrong. The big box was FILLED with tater tots while my lil' lobster roll was in the small box. And if you think the small box size is a decent sandwich size... you're right but, the sandwich was even smaller than the packaging. It didn't even touch the sides of the box!!! They came to my apartment complex, Terracina in Broomfield, tonight so I SPLURGED. I mean at $22+, I SPLURGED BIG time on a 6" tiny lobster roll - no other food or drink. I was okay splurging for what I thought would be an amazing lobster roll, but as soon as I opened the little container (think hotdog container), I smelled the "not fresh" smell of seafood. I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Texas so I know fresh seafood. I made sure I waited until I tasted the lobster roll before forming an opinion because I wanted to like them! Talk about a disappointment! The lobster had that old, frozen taste. I tried giving a taste to my cat and she turned up her nose at it!
