Well, this is a mixed review as some of my visit was good, some not so good. I saw this on my Yelp app shortly after I arrived in Denver, and while lobster is my favorite food, I am always a bit dubious to eating lobster in a beef eeating place like Colorado! Still, it sounded great and I made my way there with a coworker on my last day in Denver. We walked in and there was no one there, but it was past lunch. It was bright and looked like other lobster roll restaurants I have been to in Boston. We looked at the menu and both ordered the same thing- a hot Connecticut Roll with a side cup of Clam Chowder. We sat down and waited as the 2 staff prepared our food, and while we the only ones in there, every table was dirty, so we hesitatingly sat down at the cleanest one and waited. A few minutes later, they brought our food out to us, but we had to ask her to clean the table, which she quickly got a bottle of spray and a towel and wiped our table down. I dove into the Clam Chowder and was immediately disappointed- it was barely even warm, thin, watery and without flavor. I tried to spice it up with salt, pepper and hot sauce to no avail. Now, the lobster roll was a different story- bun toasted perfectly, the lobster meat layered inside with hot butter, I took a bite and was in heaven. The roll was good, so that saved the day- I would not order the chowder again, though. I sent to the bathroom to wash my hands and was immediately hit with the stench of sewer, so that was a real turnoff. This could be a 5 star place if they fixed the simple things. I've had lobster rolls in Maine, so maybe my expectations were a little high... but this one was just okay For almost $30 with a canned coke, I expected more. Cherry Creek is a bustling part of town with new venues and a very busy clientele looking for good food. I did not realize that Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls was a chain and is harbored in a new, clean and sleek shop. We ordered the New England clam chowder and a Bar Harbor lobster roll served Connecticut style with more lobster meat, butter and warm. The top split bun was nicely buttered and a bountiful amount of warm lobster. The meat was tender and sweet, a good roll even in Denver. The chowder had the same viscosity as water. There was no richness, thickness and uncious flavors I typically see in good chowder. I question whether it is homemade and not pre-made and warmed. Good seafood in a landlocked, middle of the US state was a dodgy choice. The lobster was good but the chowder was better at Whole Foods. My expectations were not high, but I was optimist. If you are not a coastal seafood aficionado, this was fine but not a WOW moment. read more

The coke in a can was like room temperature, the people at counter almost didn't give me my food. They asked for an order number I showed her my order number. Then she said she needed my name. Then she needed me to tell her my order. Just not very easy pick up. The food itself was cold even though I ordered it connecticut style and the lobster was kind of chewy and not fresh. Wow, this is the spot to go to if you are looking for a lobster roll in Cherry Creek! I was really impressed by the quality of the lobster meat and the lobster bisque. The tater tots were very great too. I did not quite love the house dipping sauce that the tors came with but the taters were still great with ketchup to me. I do wish they had fries on the menu, but was happy with the options that I had tried. The place had quick service and is set up to easily dine in or take away. There is an outdoor patio as well so you can sit outside if you choose. They offer a variety of bottled sodas as well as fountain drink options so there is a nice mix of drinks to choose from. There is street parking in the area or you can find one of the parking garage is located within Cherry Creek North. Overall, I had a great experience and I would definitely return again for a lobster roll. The lobster in my Connecticut roll was a bit rubbery and didn't have much flavor. It was like it was microwaved. Nor did it have any butter flavor. THE ROLL: I enjoyed the bar harbor applied to the classic lobster roll and connecticut roll. The texture is a little tough on the lobster tail but easy enough to give. CLASSIC LOBSTER ROLL: I was wowed by the flavor. The classic lobster roll with the mayo and lemon butter is just great. It adds a little bit of tanginess just enough to give it that perfect balance of savory and acidity. The great part about it is that they also give you a lemon slice as well as a pickle (more on the pickle later). CONNECTICUT ROLL: This is as simple as simple can get, but simple doesn't mean delicious as many expert forms of anything is based upon a strong foundation, and a strong foundation it is. Perfect savoriness and adds a lot of juiciness. If you're worried about the taste of mayo or something else, you're always safe with this roll. THE LOBSTER MAC: HOLY now this is good. I absolutely love this guilty pleasure. Not only do you get a perfectly cheesy taste of the mac and cheese, it also has great texture, not too viscous or watery. THE PICKLE: The pickle tickles my taste buds as i would always pay more than a nickle for a pickle. The acidity of the pickle dripples into my mouth and makes any fickle thoughts dissapickle. The pickle makes this dish a perfect addon. Overall i really enjoyed my time here, the service was nice and I thought the food tasted great. My only complaint is that the lobster tail just didn't have the explosive texture that i remember in other lobster rolls. read more

We received the second order about 5-10 minutes later. Parking is tricky in the area, so I parked in the Whole Foods garage and got validated after getting a couple groceries afterwards. Ordered a classic roll served chilled with mayo and lemon butter in a toasted split top; didn't come with lemon wedges as it should so had to go grab some from the counter. Also got some clam chowder on the side which came with oyster crackers. Though I enjoyed the warm cup of chowder, the lobster roll was disappointing. I can't quite put my finger on it, because the bun was fresh and toasty, the lobster looked rather fresh, and the portion was fair. It was seasoned, had a touch of mayo, and some squeezes of lemon, but for whatever reason, there just wasn't hardly any flavor. It all tasted super bland, and the lobster meat wasn't as juicy and succulent as I am accustomed to from other places. I would be willing to give it a second try but it would be an expensive gamble I can't bring myself to so soon. Maine Shack near Coors Field is my winner for lobster in Denver right now, with Cousins being my ATF (I hope they get a truck out here soon). The bar harbor portion was really impressive where you seem to get what your pay for. The major let down was the lobster bisque. Maybe just a bad day with it but it was the worst lobster bisque I've ever had. It tasted almost entirely like it was just heavy cream. It was so bland though occasionally I got a slight hint of a strange fishy taste - but nothing like lobster. Fast casual set up here, though the prices are not casual. Picking up on your own from here probably works best if you live in the area where you can walk, or if you can get lucky to grab a quick parking spot.
