I ordered a couple of dresses last year when visiting Sausalito with a friend who lives there. The dresses were sewn terribly not to mention did not fit properly when I finally received them which was almost one month after they were ordered! Never received any receipts for purchases. They are very pushy to make you order, and pay in advance . very poor service from then on the quality of the sewing is very poor. i relied on them to get the dress for my daughter's wedding, i paid top $ for it, it was a disaster!! it just looked like i went to any dress maker with a design from a magazine COUTURE! Azadeh created a beautiful wedding dress for my destination wedding. I had an idea of what I wanted (even had the exact fabric for a portion of it) and she executed it flawlessly, embellishing on the concept to make the dress completely unique. Both my mother and I were so happy with the creation, that my mother decided to commission a 'mother of the bride' pant set from her. It was divine and very flattering and definitely brought out a heightened level of elegance in a woman who is already very elegant. My experience of her customer service was excellent. She created my dress in a hastened time frame and went out of her way to accommodate me for our brainstorming consultation and all three of my fittings. Oh my goodness, Azadeh's designs are just breathtaking. Not only does it feel good when you buy that perfect piece of clothing that you know others do not have, but you also feel so beautiful in it! What a wonderful experience I have being dressed by a KNOWN, award winning couturier. I know that every piece I order is specially made for me, fits like a glove and I won't see anyone else wearing it! I have been an Azadeh client for 9 years. I love the fabrics, the chic styles and I wear my clothes with pride. The Los Gatos location is fabulous for us South Bayer's.... right next to the Apple store! I was in the new store on Union Square last week and it is totally amazing and gorgeous! You have to see it! Tons of new clothes on the rack and the bridal salon upstairs - dreamy!!! Granted, couture is not for everyone...you need to be an essential part of the design and choose fabrics that make YOU look good. One fabulous dress you can wear many times instead of an off the rack dress everyone wears -- well its worth every cent. A Fraud!! She was cheaper on Union when no one knew her. Her girl workers are little hustlers. When my sister lived in SF she had a few things made for her and it was okay but not top designer quality. Don't be fooled ladies. She talks a good game, but she cannot deliver. Find a good seamstress and take your design to her. I think her prices are very over the top and they do not reflect her product. It is sad because she is getting the attention worthy of a good designer but she is the opposite. I know you ladioes out there are smarter than that. Walk on by and don't look twice. read more

Azadeh is the worst! I wanted a custom dress for my brother's wedding and she promised it would be phenomenal with lots of beadings. A week before the wedding she shipped the dress back to Indonesia and WOW an Indonesian designer can do muchhhh better than her that costs less!! The beadings are not even done yet! I decided not to wear it and got another amazing ready to wear dress. So I brought the dress back to her to have the rest of the beadings done and Ariana (the assistant) said Okay. After 11 months of not getting any response, they told me it's still not done. What a bad service for a couture shop. NEVER come here. read more

Azadeh almost destroyed our wedding - and they could care less! My wife had a custom wedding gown made here that was absolutely horrid. The design wasn't anything like she had requested, even though she provided Azadeh with detailed pictures. The workmanship was terrible, and the gown was so far behind schedule and delivered so late that we couldn't have another one made in time at a reputable shop. The upside is that my wife found an off-the rack gown that far exceeded the design and workmanship detail of the Azadeh dress at a fraction of the price. We ended up throwing the Azadeh dress away! Azadeh will suck you dry and deliver garbage. They want their money up front because no rational person would pay for the trash that this outfit produces in the end. After they cash your check, be ready to become an afterthought. Avoid! read more

NOT RELIABLE & OVERPRICED I ordered a fabulous pants outfit from Azadeh for a special party. It was not ready when promised, extremely overpriced. It was sent to me via fed ex and arrived a few hours before I had to wear it. The pants were so long that I had to hike them up to almost under my armpits and wear a belt to keep them up. When I took them back to have them shortened I was told that I must have had them hanging on a hanger incorrectly. Since they came out of the fed ex box just before the party I really do not think that was the case. Not a wonderful experience!!! read more

I have been a client of Azadeh's for over 10 years and have followed her from Union Street, and now to her beautiful new store on Geary. She is an incredibly gifted and talented designer, and is a true couturier with a european flair that we don't see a lot in the city. I have had several gowns and dresses made including my wedding gown of which I (and my husband) was completely in awe of and still am. She and her staff meticulously crafted my wedding gown and produced something that was so incredibly gorgeous. A Thief and a Fraud NEVER EVER EVER ever give this woman a dime ofbusiness. She is a complete fraud and thief. I, too, had a dress made by her... for a very special occasion in France. She had all these "great ideas" and inspired sketches. We decided on a seemingly gorgeous formal gown with a full skirt of hand-made petals with small crystals at the center. The bodice was to be a series of pintucked layers over a boned frame. What I got was a cheezy prom dress - the top looked like cheap ruched satin (think a Macy's $100 prom dress) and the hand-appliqued skirt was AWFUL. i tried it on in the store and burst into tears at the quality, cut, fit, everything. Azadeh told me that she would reinforce the bodice and sew back on the three flower appliques that had fallen off during the fitting. HA! Since i has already in my 50% deposit at this point, I went with it. Well, the best part came when I returned two days later to pick up my gown. Lo and behold, there was another client in there being pitched the EXACT SAME DESIGN. Azadeh's assistant tried to keep me distracted but I knew. I couldn't help it and made a comment, "wow, how original". I ended up taking the darn thing with me all the way to Paris for the formal event but when I went to put it on, several flowers fell off!!! At that point I was DONE and ended up wearing something else -- a dress I bought off the rack for 1/3 less than Azadeh's "original" creation. When I called her from France to tell her I wanted to be compensated, she told me that since I had been in for fittings and taken possession of the dress, she had upheld her end of the transaction. i told her she could have the dress back as it had never been worn, and her comment? "But it was an original design just for you". I knew at that moment I would never win. read more

My experience with at Azadeh and the dress I received was AMAZING!!! I came to the shop having pretty much given up hope of finding a red dress to wear to the Heart Truth Red Dress Fashion Show in New York. As a heart patient that was there on behalf of the sponsors, I wanted to wear something fabulous to show that women with scars can be beautiful too. I had looked everywhere in both NY and San Francisco for a dress and found nothing. As I was walking past Azadeh I spotted a red dress in the shop and went in. The staff was wonderful when I explained what I was looking for... when they suggested that they could create exactly what I wanted IN SIX DAYS!!!!! I was dumbstruck. I worked with them on the concept and then came in for an initial fitting the next day. The second fitting was two days later and then I had to get on a plane to NYC. The dress was going to arrive via FedEx the next day in time for the event. Normally when something is custom made the best you can hope for is that it comes close to your expectations. When I opened the box and pulled out the dress I had tears in my eyes because it was more amazing then I could have imagined!!!! It fit me perfectly. When I wore the dress that evening to the Red Dress Fashion Show I had random people ask if I was walking the runway and could they take pictures with me. I felt like Cinderella at the ball and it was wonderful!! I could not be more pleased with the quality, design and staff of Azadeh. Oh my. Funny I find Elaine's recent review...for some strange reason I decided to google "Azadeh Yelp" to see if anyone has reviewed it. My horrible experience was for my own wedding in July 2006. It has been 2 and 1/2 years and I am over it, but something compelled me to look. So now I have to speak up. When trying to find a dress on short notice for my (2nd) wedding, I knew 3 months was not enough time to find the 'perfect' dress. My fiance suggested Azadeh (he's says he noticed her shop once on Union Street a few years back) So I googled her back then and saw a review on I think Citysearch. Just one review, but it was not a good one, but stupid me decided to give it a shot. I think I can also say this was the worst clothing experience of my life. My experience was so much like Elaine's it is scary; I wonder if Azadeh gets any return business. I found a picture of a dress by one of those fancy wedding gown designers in a magazine. I made an appointment, showed her the photo, she said the dress I chose was lovely and she could do it no problem, but that time was short. It was a pretty simple design, something I myself could have made if I had the time and patience ( I made my own prom dresses!) I should have known from the first appointment that this was not going to go well. She did not offer me very many choices of fabrics, and I thought that was strange since she was charging so much and told me of her travels to Paris for wonderful fabrics. I told her of my concerns of using satin because I have a bit of a tummy pooch and some other lumps and bumps. She ASSURED me that I had a great body (right) and besides, the dress will be double lined. Ahead I went, gave her a 50% deposit on the agreed price of $3000. After the first fitting I thought, this looks NOTHING like the picture, but she kept saying this is just the muslin pattern thing. I thought OK, these are just pieces of lace, she has not sewn anything together yet, give it a chance. By the second fitting, it should have looked more like the dress in the picture, but it didn't. I realized she just wanted to make me whatever she felt she had the time for. I don't understand that. If that's what I wanted, I would not have brought in a photo. I would have understood if it was too elaborate or difficult but it was a matter of a gather that would have made all the difference. And the double lining did absolutely nothing and the satin enhanced my pooch like I knew it would. I had already given her the deposit, it was too late to turn back. I was resolved that this is just a dress and it looks 'fine' even though it is not what I really wanted, and I'll diet like crazy to lessen the pooch and buy some spanx. The wedding was in a few weeks. I was in denial about how horrible this was going!!! A week before the wedding I went for the last fitting. As soon as I put it on I wanted to just die. Horrible. Even with the spanx. And it looked home made! WTF!!! What do I do?? I was so let down yet I knew it was not the end of the world. The dress still needed a few adjustments and I was to pick it up the day before the wedding. I went home and told my fiance that I needed to look for another dress. He was so understanding, and felt bad for me and didn't give me a hard time for not saying something to her weeks ago. I just am that way and I got ripped off. So get this... I went to David's Bridal (a chain of ready made 'inexpensive' gown stores) and found a great dress that fit almost perfectly (just had to go to the neighborhood dry cleaners to raise the hem and shoulder straps) for $300. The whole dress experience should have been that easy. Wished I could have just gone to David's Bridal in the first place!! I almost did not even go to pick up the dress I was so upset, but I couldn't let it bother me, it was my wedding for gosh sakes!! But I wanted to pick it up because she kept my spanx with the dress. So it was the morning of and her assistant was late, opening the shop, she gave me the dress and I sooo wanted to tell her to keep the darn thing, but I didn't...anyone want an unworn $3000 pile of satin and lace? I do know my bad experience was partly my own fault for not speaking up when I knew things weren't going right, and also for not telling them I was not going to wear it...ever!! I chock my stress, time and $3000 loss to experience. I also want to add that my sister tells me after the fact, that a friend of hers had her wedding dress made by Azadeh back in around 2001, and she too was not happy with it. read more

I purchased a beautiful black dress off the sale rack in the Los Gatos store. The sales lady told me it looked great. I was thinking, are you crazy, it's too big. She told me they would alter it for free to fit me body. So I let her pin away. When I mentioned the dress needed to be taken in around the waist and hips, she said "no it will look good when the alterations are complete". Two weeks later I went back and tried it on and sure enough, the dress had a lot of extra fabric where I had mentioned. She tried to talk me into it being OK, but I knew better. I agreed to have it altered a second time. It was fine until she stuck me with a pin. Ouch! Three weeks later I went back to pick it up and the alterations were a mess. They offered to alter it for the third time, but with an hour drive to the store each way I said no thanks and I would take it to my alterations lady even though I will have to pay the cost. If you buy a dress off the rack, TAKE IT TO YOUR OWN ALTERATIONS PERSON! read more
