Back for a retry after a number of years. It's okay, nothing to write home about. I suppose a safe place to bring family. This time around our service was 5 . The pizza - dirty calm pie was good. The Italian chicken dish was a miss for us... tough chicken pieces and lacking flavor even though it had nice chucks of cut up vegetables. The lentil soup was adequate, it met base line flavor and presentation. I guess what locks and information is I noticed the population that's coming in. It's a much older crowd. Certainly the menu items are on the lower price side so it makes it affordable to go out. It's hard when you cook at home and you want to go out a couple nights a week at the weekend and for what we've been paying with inflation and the impact of tariffs we would expect a higher level of them when I'm putting out of my own kitchen. Again, a safe place a consistent place a busy place and if this is acceptable for you, then this is your go to. read more

Stopped in on our way home. My husband and I were greeted and seated immediately. There is plenty of seating and the place looked pretty clean. We ordered some water along with mussels in red sauce, medium pizza with half onions. The mussels were very meaty with a delicious chunky tomato sauce. The pizza had a thin crust with more sauce than cheese, more of a tomato pie taste. It was okay but not the best ratio of tomato sauce to cheese. This place probably has a great tomato pie. I would definitely return just for the mussels alone. But if I ordered a pizza, I'd be a little more specific about its preparation. read more

My wife and I visited with the goal of enjoying some good garlic knots, and in that regard, we were pleased. The garlic knots were quite nice--warm, flavorful, and delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of our meal didn't quite live up to expectations. The cheese slice was a letdown--super thin, floppy, and lacking in both cheese and sauce. I was hoping for a more balanced and satisfying bite. We also tried the cheesesteaks, which were just okay. While not bad, they didn't stand out, and I've definitely had bigger and better ones elsewhere. That being said, Palermo's does have an extensive lunch and dinner menu, which makes me want to give it another shot. There's potential here, and I'm hoping a second visit will be more impressive. We live close to Palermo's and since we've moved in it has been our go to pizza spot. We typically stick to the tomato pies. Good sweet marinara with a tasty cheese blend. We've gotten bruschetta from there as well and have enjoyed it. We've yet to try specialty pizzas but plan on it. Will continue to keep coming beee. read more

I was online and came across Dave Portnoy's review video of Palermo's and WOW!! What an Impression it made! At first, I honestly thought he was being sarcastic or coy, But After watching this video, I literally could Not stop thinking about enjoying a pizza from Palermo's Pizza in Bordentown, NJ. After work, my family and I made a Beeline straight there. It was closer than we thought and at 2:30pm, there were several people dining in. We checked out the menu and settled on the Saturday and Monday special because this was our very first time here. Chrissy sat us and was attentive but Not bugging us. We ordered the plain pie and tomato pie. Holy cow!! It was so light, fluffy and Thin all at the same time. Unless you Try this masterpiece for yourself, you'd Never believe me. My mom, who eats like a bird ate 3 pieces of pizza and then, her sweet tooth got the best of her and she ordered dessert! She had the Black Forrest bomb and between my husband and my mom, they polished it Off! The place is Spotless and music at a great enjoyable level and we literally sat and ate and talked for 3 hours and time flew by and it was just a fabulous experience. Kinda just walked in and had no direction on where to go. Didn't know if we had to order in front or could be seated. Took about 5 minutes to get a guide and be seated in a bigger table for 8. After all the hype at work about this pizza joint, here I was, with the group! Tried their Classic Pizza with Eggplant and their signature Tomato Pie. We also sampled their Fried Zucchini and Jalapeño Poppers that had cheddar cheese. I have to say, the crust was thin and delicious. I'm a sucker for eggplant and was craving it that day, but their Tomato Pie, which was what they were known for, takes it! In regards to parking, somewhat limited, had to park in the gravel/dirt on a rainy day, since parking was shared. There is a good amount of seating and can host for bigger groups. Food came out in a timely manner, with the exception of one order, another penne vodka, but one of our party members didn't mind since the serving was generous and inhaled it in a few moments once it was received. To keep things simple, Venmo/Cashapp a single person to fork the bill for the table... took a bit to get out of there after eating. We been to Palermo's multiple times through out the years and it's always good. So much so that Dave Portnoy joined the party and make them one of his spots for his national reviews. Their pizza is always delicious, with a perfect balance of crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and toppings. Passed by Palmermo's tomato pies today on my way to Atlantic City . I placed the order by phone and I wanted to arrive before it's done so it don't sit in the box and get soggy . My main reason why I do that is because I want the pie crispy . I've been here at least 5 or 6 times and it's always a home run . I took a pic of the pie when I got it and again as shown a pic of the under carriage to show that they put too much sauce in the middle of the pie which made it soggy . I was disappointed but not completely discouraged because the taste is there but the main allure of the pizza to me is the crispiness unfortunately I didn't get that today . I will definitely continue to stop by on my way to Atlantic City . This still remains my top 5 pizza shops in all of New York and New Jersey. read more

Ordered through door dash, but store delivered itself. Right after I ordered a quick storm came through. After an hour store order was still being prepared . I called the store and asked and they said they were waiting due to the weather. I asked if my pizza was going to be cold and they assured me no and that they waited to make it. An hour and a half later my ice cold pizza was delivered with blue cheese dressing for my Cesar salad. I was staying at a hotel, so could not heat it up. Let's update this for 2021! Ok to start: this pizza would be amazing if you plunked it down in Florida or really anywhere else outside of NJ/NY/CT (yes, New Haven gets its due). But is it pizza? If you're interested in Palermo's, odds are you've read up on "Trenton style tomato pie." If you haven't, just know there are OTHER styles of tomato pie out there: The closest geographically is the Philly-style tomato pie, which (probably due to immigration patterns back in the day) is similarly to Utica, NY style tomato pie. The latter 2 are akin to taking focaccia or maybe a Sicilian style pizza crust, putting some yummy tomato sauce atop, and serving it at room temperature with a nice dusting of grated parm to finish it off. Despite being in the same Delaware Valley as Philly and having MUCH more in more common with its big brother to the south (Philly) rather than the north (NYC), Trenton's tomato pie is unique. It has a VERY thin and typically moderate to severe crispy crust. The umami from the tomato is the star of the show. Some people debate whether any of the aforementioned tomato pies qualify as pizza. I say: probably, but who cares? It's good in its own way. Palermo's definitely makes their pie THIN. I took advantage of the Saturday/Monday only deal. Said deal used to be 2 pies (sans topping, cheese or tomato variety) for $20. Now it's crept up to 2 for $22. I added garlic to my tomato pie, which cost...I think $3? Total damages for a plain cheese and tomato came to $25.54 and I didn't notice any BS card fees. That's a plus. Unfortunately, the amount of garlic wasn't sufficient, leading me to the tube of target's "good and gather" brand garlic powder in our kitchen cabinet. Otherwise, the tomato pie is quite tasty, albeit not very filling compared to other varieties of pizza. For reference: I'm 5'10" and weigh maybe 140 lbs soaking wet, I put away 5-6 slices of this easily! That would never be possible with pizza elsewhere. The plain pie (aka cheese)? It was good. Nothing special to report. It had cheese on it and the crust was the same as the tomato pie, very thin. All in all, $25 for 2 pizzas of this sort isn't bad these days. That said, I can't help but feel that I walked away with a little bit of fool's gold. The product looks great and eats so easily. It also pairs well with beer. But I'm left wanting for further satiety for my $. Maybe this style isn't for me? Perhaps I'm just cheap these days? My fiancée and I are soon moving up 55 miles to North Jersey: Hudson county. It would be interesting to see how this would fare up there, as you won't find pie like Palermo's once you get more than 25-30 minutes away from Trenton. Check it out and decide for yourself. P.S. When calling in the order, I did ask: "do you still have the 2 for $20 deal on monday?" The person on the other end clearly answered affirmatively and didn't disclose the $2 price increase. Excellent food. Rude service. I recommend taking out. Came here for a funeral dinner yesterday after my mom lost her fiancé. My mom sat at the wrong table and the restaurant manager yelled at her. She's having a rough time of it. I attempted to resolve and ask that the manager make an accommodation. He chastised me about table settings, and when I shook my head at him, he reprimanded me for shaking my head. He raised his voice and it felt very abusive. I'm sorry, maybe the tough guy attitude is ok for some folks, but it's not appropriate to treat customers this way. Ziti was a+, salad was delicious. I have kept meaning to try this place as it is pretty close by. Called in an order for pickup. When calling we asked what is there most popular. The lady mentioned Portnoy and how he gave the tomato pie a high rating. We decided to go with the tomato pie. She said it would be ready in about 25 minutes. We got there in about 20 minutes and it was ready. The staff there were very pleasant and we said it was our first time. They assured us we will be back...lol. We got it home, and it was already lukewarm, but decided to eat it anyway without reheating. It was a very good pie. I would have liked it a little more hot, but we were starving and just wanted to eat. The crust was thin but not too thin. Had a good crisp to softness ratio. The sauce was excellent. It was sweet and had good flavor. The cheese to sauce ratio for the tomato pie was good. Not overly saucy at all. We pretty much finished the whole pie in one sitting. After a doctor's appointment and reading the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were immediately seated after checking in. Originally, we were given a short table in the corner and didn't understand why considering the place was empty when we got there. So, we requested another table. The restaurant is medium in size and separated into two dining rooms, with the color scheme consisting of various shades of brown. The floors and tables are made of polished brown wood and the walls are beige as well. Sconces decorate random areas of the walls and a pizza paddle can be seen hanging where the counter is. The counter also has a picture of the owner with Dave Portnoy as well. Framed photos also hang from the walls and because we went in December, there were fake Christmas garlands lining both a window and a dining room entrance. A wreath also hung in the vestibule as well. I feel this place looks more like a pizzeria than a restaurant and that makes me very happy. We ordered gnocchi marinara with red sauce and spinach egg drop soup , pepper and egg sandwich and a large harvest pie. We've been feeling that we needed vegetables and hubs ordered the harvest pie. It was delicious! The crust was nice and crispy with plenty of sauce and vegetables. At first, I thought the crust was going to be soggy with all the veggies but it didn't disappoint! The gnocchi was delicious and carby. LOL. Daughter liked the pepper and egg sandwich a lot and said that she would order it again. The soup was delicious, too. A packed parking lot for lunch on a weekday is a good sign of quality, and that's exactly what awaited me on my first visit to Palermo's. I had been looking forward to trying their pizza after seeing a glowing pizza review. The exterior may look a little rough around the edges, but the interior of the restaurant is very welcoming and tastefully decorated with plenty of seating. The pizza slices looked like they'd been sitting around a while, so we ordered a large traditional cheese pizza so we could try it freshly prepared out of the oven. The cheese pizza (5/5) was easily one of the best I've had in the area, with tomato sauce being the strong point perfectly accenting the cheese and crust...all high quality ingredients and fresh tasting. The pizza was cooked just right to make it firm without being burnt, and was light rather than heavy like most pizzerias in the area. It would definitely crack my rotation of regular pizza places I'd frequent if I lived closer to Bordentown. We also had a chicken parmigiana sandwich (4.5/5) with sauce on the side which was served on fresh tasting bread with ample decent quality chicken topped with the right amount of cheese. Both items hit all the right notes in the taste department. They had very tempting desserts including quite a large selection of cannolis, but we were filled up, so passed on them (this time). Went there to try as I follow pizza reviews and loved it. Went on a Monday for lunch w a buddy and had a tomato pie w anchovy's, my personal favorite topping. Loved the chewy, thin crust. The sauce had a slight sweetness to it which did well with the salty anchovy. Next time I'd ask for a bit more well done but it really was terrific. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer and someone from the back kitchen checked on us to make sure all was ok! Many competitors in the area have crispy type crusts but this one had more elasticity and flavor. Great crust! All in all I can't wait to go back and demolish another pie!! read more
