I recently got my home inspected in Ashburn. Mike did an excellent job. He is a straight shooter and really professional. He uses equipment that the other home inspector did not. He used a drone and a thermal imagine camera as a part of his inspection. Our home was a new construction, but it's still difficult to tell where the heat is escaping just by looking at the insulation before drywall. The thermal imaging camera was really helpful. Mike was outstanding. I would recommend him every day of the week and twice on Sunday. First off Mike was extremely responsive. I called and left a VM to schedule an appointment and he called me back within 15 minutes. My first impression after speaking with Mike was "Yeah, he's clearly done this a lot of times.". Mike also coordinated with my realtor to setup the radon test prior to the inspection. Second, Mike was PROMPT. On the day of the inspection I arrived 15 minutes early and Mike was already there waiting. With me, was my friend who is a scientist and environmental engineer - more on his later. Third, from the get go Mike was EXTREMELY thorough. He explained every aspect of the inspection, where he would start, where he would finish, when he thought it would be imperative that I be in the room, how the process works, and what the final report would look like - all in a 3 ring binder. Forth, Mike was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. As we went through the inspection, Mike explained EVERYTHING. Why something was defective and needs fixing. What is a GFCI? Where's the main water shut off. Why they're necessary. What's the county regulation. How my HVAC, Heat Pump, Sump Pump work. How, what, who, when, where, and why things break, fail, warning signs AND recommendations for maintenance to keep things from falling apart. Remember my friend the scientist and Environmental Engineer? His comment to me after the inspection were "Yeah, I would hire him." Finally, that SAME day I received my final 35 page inspection report that was color coded and included annotated pictures and links to videos. My ONLY disappointment was that Mike has a drone that he sometimes uses to inspect the roof. On this occasion Mike got up on the roof and did a manual inspection. Great if you're buying a home. Disappointing if you're a big kid who likes flying robots. read more

We hired Mike to do a buyer's inspection for another property we were interested in purchasing. There are a lot of things he'll catch that you wouldn't think to check when buying a property: PB plumbing, no exterior vent from the kitchen, sump pump pit with no sump pump, rodent issues, etc. As always, he is very punctual and very thorough. He gives a balanced portrait of a property - both good and bad. I know a lot of people are skeptical when a service gets pretty much unanimous glowing reviews, but we would say they are very well-deserved in this case. Mike was fantastic. He responded to my initial appointment request within an hour or two, performed a very thorough inspection and gave tips and answered questions the whole time, he even fixed some little things around the house as we went, he created a video for us on how to light the pilot in the gas fireplace and get it started for the season, he labeled important lines around the house like the main water shutoff, the outdoor shutoff, etc. As others have already mentioned, his report is excellent. He gave us options on different ways to solve the problems found and a rough guess on how much the various items might cost. A couple of days after the inspection was over, I sent him an email with some follow-up questions and he called me back within about 5 minutes to discuss.
