I called Covered In Concrete and left a message with regard to a cracked concrete kitchen sink needing to be removed and replaced, without hindering the concrete countertop it was attached to. Tony promptly called back and let me know that he'd drop by to see if he could be of help. He was knowledgeable and honest with how the project could lead in the best or, worst case scenario. The worst case scenario was that a new concrete counter would need to be considered in addition to a new sink if the counter was to crack. Once a date was set to start, all went better than anticipated! Because of some additional house work being done by a different work crew on the same day, there were multiple workers and equipment through the house but this didn't interfere with Tony's professional and focused work ethic. Tony is a great guy and means well. Tony did my countertops 3 years ago on brand new kitchens. Since then, they have had several defects that have required fixing. Trying to contact tony to get them fixed is such a hassle that you're honestly better off paying for stone.They look good for a month or two and then become scratched. They scratch far too easily and if they become damaged good luck trying to get Tony in to fix them. I'm currently going on week 3 of "cool bro I'll hit you up next week to fix it!" No answered phone calls, no texts. Price other options out, then factor in the hidden costs of not being able to get your specialized product repaired, never being able to contact tony, and factor in replacing your countertops with stone after a few short years. read more

Here is an update. Owner directly called me and apologized for the apparent mix up in their scheduling. He quickly set up another appointment with me and went over everything I needed to know. I was doing a BBQ island as DIYer and Tony gave me numerous tips which saved me literally countless hours in rework. He was straightforward to the point and very transparent. Last week Tony installed my new countertop and I could not be happier. It was perfectly measured and cast well. Will do business with him again. Highly recommend. Will post some pics soon. read more

I think this will be a confirmation of his main issue driving the bad reviews for his business. Its a shame that tradespeople who are possibly very skilled, wreck their businesses with disorganization. Tony doesn't respond to phone calls, texts. If the website listed here for his business ever existed, it looks like Tony forgot to pay the bill for the hosting service because that's not there anymore. I know he exists because he answered the phone once and was going to come by to look at the project in the next couple of days. A month later, I've never seen or heard from him. He doesn't respond to phone calls, voicemails, or texts. I couldn't really hire somebody this unreliable. Imagine him starting your job and then vanishing for a month or 2, with your project left completely hanging. He could be the most skilled concrete person in the world, but its not worth being left hanging by somebody who obviously doesn't have any scheduling or organizational skills. I did actually speak to him. About a month after I started trying to call him, he returned a call. He sounds nice enough. Never heard from him again. In reading his other reviews, it seems his work might be good enough. But all the complaints for the last 5 years are about him leaving customers in the lurch. read more

We had a very old kitchen tile countertop and contacted Tony to get info and an estimate to resurface it with concrete. He was very responsive and came out to our house to look at the counter. He gave very honest pros/cons of various options. Since we needed to replace the stovetop insert and oven and had issues with our old oversized hood vent, we decided to completely replace the countertop and cabinets with a custom concrete countertop build by Tony. He even added a new bar countertop which made the original pony wall make sense - looks and functionality. We wanted to keep the original tile backsplash and he did an amazing job of cutting around it and tying it in perfectly. The color of the countertop and the edges turned out exactly as we hoped. There is a bit of warmth in the color of the concrete, so it blends in with the original tile and wood floors/windows. It also has subtle tone variation so it looks great and can work with either a rustic or modern kitchen. We also added a custom built corner cabinet in the kitchen to hide the vacuum cleaner - concrete countertop on top ready for vase/decor. I highly recommend Covered in Concrete. Tony and his assistant Brandon are really nice guys to have working in the house. Tony's attention to detail and ability to solve problems in an old house are impressive. Love, Love Tony and his work! Was on time, efficient, works fast, easy to work with, great communicator and PATIENT! We changed our mind probably 4+ times on the color. He was so kind and kept reiterating that he just wants to make us happy! He even took our appliances out and put the new sink we purchased in! Will use him again! Oh wait! If you don't want to read the whole thing, here is the skinny: In the beginning they were professional (communicative and responsive) so I decided to go with them for my BBQ bar. Once I committed the communication dissipated, start dates got continuously pushed back until finally communication came to zero responses and they deserted my project unannounced. Now I'm back to square one. I shopped around a lot and thoroughly. As annoying as this was, I was adamant to make the best decision. Covered in Concrete was responsive and thorough throughout this process. Although they weren't the cheapest quote, they were close and were by far the most well-presented and most communicative. Once I decided to go with them the professionalism decreased by the day. They came by and figured out logistics. From there start dates kept getting pushed back until 3 and a half weeks after their originally proposed start date at which point I couldn't even get a call or message back. There were 4 days of rain in those 3 and a half weeks. I never paid deposit as they could never solidify a start date. I'm thankful I didn't, just annoyed that I'm unable to meet my schedule and have to do it all over again. It seems they have a small team and as such can only accommodate one project at a time and weren't honest with me about their current workload. It led to a bunch of wasted time and delays. read more

A Picture speaks a Thousand words This was a complete remodel of our kitchen, last remodel had been in the mid 1970's. Surprisingly the appliances still worked, but it was definitely time for an update. I got in contact with Tony from Covered in Concrete. He discussed the different options in concrete finish along with the pros and cons of each. I liked the work he had done on other projects and felt it was a good match. Tony was also very responsive to any follow up questions I had; one big concern was timing. We had spent a lot of time researching countertop options, so by the time we contacted Tony, we already had our new cabinets installed, but it was going to be a couple of weeks before the countertops would be ready for installation. In the meantime, we didn't have a sink or a working kitchen. Tony was cool enough to install the sub counters (under-counter plywood) and my sink so I could at least have a functioning kitchen and that was very helpful. Once the counter tops arrived my wife and I were very happy and impressed with the results. Everything fit like a glove, and the coloring and texturing were beyond expectations. I can tell Tony takes pride in his craft and is very meticulous with his results. In particular we had asked for a copper look that he had not done before. He said that he had to experiment with color mixing and texturing; so the fact that it turned out so well speaks to his high level of craftsmanship. Another thing is that we had a difficult area inside of a garden window that needed to be covered. Tony and Kahlua stayed as long as it took to make sure they really got it right. If you are considering any concrete work, and if you want something with a particularly unique and cool look to it, you should talk to Tony from Covered in Concrete; he has lots of experience and is very skilled in his craft. Hired Tony for a job on my rental! He was more than accommodating. First to call back and he came out right away for estimate. He got started pronto and the job was beautiful. Concrete countertops were the talk of every person coming through that rental..couldn't stop touching it and asking who did it...TONY!! YES,TONY DID IT:) He even mentioned he could do my floor if I got sick of the tile. Lastly, if you need renovating, painting, hardwood flooring to go in-his uncle Mike is the best. Amazing!! That is what I think when I look at the counters done in my kitchen. I am so happy with the results. Tony and his team did a fantastic job. I highly recommend his company. He covered my dated white tiled counter and backsplash with concrete and epoxy and created a work of art. It is absolutely gorgeous. Tony is very professional and detail oriented. He is a perfectionist and ended up reapplying the epoxy because it was not perfect and to be honest I may not have even known but he still felt it needed to be done right. This process is a great alternative to demoing and replacing your counters. The prices are reasonable for the artwork that ends up being your counter.
