Here is an update. Owner directly called me and apologized for the apparent mix up in their scheduling. He quickly set up another appointment with me and went over everything I needed to know. I was doing a BBQ island as DIYer and Tony gave me numerous tips which saved me literally countless hours in rework. He was straightforward to the point and very transparent. Last week Tony installed my new countertop and I could not be happier. It was perfectly measured and cast well. Will do business with him again. Highly recommend. Will post some pics soon.

a kitchen counter with a sink

We had a very old kitchen tile countertop and contacted Tony to get info and an estimate to resurface it with concrete. He was very responsive and came out to our house to look at the counter. He gave very honest pros/cons of various options. Since we needed to replace the stovetop insert and oven and had issues with our old oversized hood vent, we decided to completely replace the countertop and cabinets with a custom concrete countertop build by Tony. He even added a new bar countertop which made the original pony wall make sense - looks and functionality. We wanted to keep the original tile backsplash and he did an amazing job of cutting around it and tying it in perfectly. The color of the countertop and the edges turned out exactly as we hoped. There is a bit of warmth in the color of the concrete, so it blends in with the original tile and wood floors/windows. It also has subtle tone variation so it looks great and can work with either a rustic or modern kitchen. We also added a custom built corner cabinet in the kitchen to hide the vacuum cleaner - concrete countertop on top ready for vase/decor. I highly recommend Covered in Concrete. Tony and his assistant Brandon are really nice guys to have working in the house. Tony's attention to detail and ability to solve problems in an old house are impressive. There were no surprises due to great communication, the space was cleaned up at the end of each day and the final product is amazing. (Note the pics below are prior to repaint)

Love, Love Tony and his work! Was on time, efficient, works fast, easy to work with, great communicator and PATIENT! We changed our mind probably 4+ times on the color. He was so kind and kept reiterating that he just wants to make us happy! He even took our appliances out and put the new sink we purchased in! Will use him again! Oh wait! We already have:) We hired him again on a different project and doing the same thing with a little variation. I will post when he is finished. Thanks Tony-your the best.

Love the bbq countertop Tony did for us. We were a small job and struggling to find someone willing to give us the time of day. He did not treat us like a small job. Project came out great and we are loving our bbq this summer.

A Picture speaks a Thousand words This was a complete remodel of our kitchen, last remodel had been in the mid 1970's. Surprisingly the appliances still worked, but it was definitely time for an update. I got in contact with Tony from Covered in Concrete. He discussed the different options in concrete finish along with the pros and cons of each. I liked the work he had done on other projects and felt it was a good match. Tony was also very responsive to any follow up questions I had; one big concern was timing. We had spent a lot of time researching countertop options, so by the time we contacted Tony, we already had our new cabinets installed, but it was going to be a couple of weeks before the countertops would be ready for installation. In the meantime, we didn't have a sink or a working kitchen. Tony was cool enough to install the sub counters (under-counter plywood) and my sink so I could at least have a functioning kitchen and that was very helpful. Once the counter tops arrived my wife and I were very happy and impressed with the results. Everything fit like a glove, and the coloring and texturing were beyond expectations. I can tell Tony takes pride in his craft and is very meticulous with his results. In particular we had asked for a copper look that he had not done before. He said that he had to experiment with color mixing and texturing; so the fact that it turned out so well speaks to his high level of craftsmanship. Another thing is that we had a difficult area inside of a garden window that needed to be covered. Tony and Kahlua stayed as long as it took to make sure they really got it right. If you are considering any concrete work, and if you want something with a particularly unique and cool look to it, you should talk to Tony from Covered in Concrete; he has lots of experience and is very skilled in his craft. We feel our countertop is really more of a piece of art now that we see it all come together. I have other projects in mind I'm already considering him for

There were two spots where he said his crew could do the work, but said it would be really easy for me to do in a couple hours to save some money. Which I really appreciated him not up selling me. Then I received the bid the next day. After we went into contract his team showed up and started the work. It was started on Monday and pouring concrete on Saturday. They were great to work with and respected our house. What I especially appreciated was the care they took to ensure nothing around the house was damaged. This was a pleasant experience and I would recommend SK Concrete to anyone for their big or small project.

They also installed footing drain (French drain) on the back retaining wall, backfilled with the usual gravel, crushed stone and covered the outside of the walls with installed paneled stone veneer. They also did the initial former structure demolition, debris hauling and the requested earth moving and other necessary small retaining walls reassembly. It sounds like an easy simple job but, believe me, it got complicated quite soon. Along the construction way, I was able to interact with the crew and bounce ideas and corrections which were followed to my customer satisfaction, resulting in more than a very acceptable final product. When the inevitable, beyond his control, the one odd crew helper misbehavior occurred on the job, this contractor immediately corrected it, got on top of the problem and smoothly and quickly we had no more of an issue here. He also facilitated for me the customer to bring my own tile / stone wall-caps products and installer guys, which ended doing a beautiful job we're very proud of. Pricing fair, not inexpensive. Job done acceptable, with your own (the customer) continuous supervision and being able to stop working crew's irreparable mistakes before they happened, however, the final product came out well built and functional as we imagined and expected, we are grateful for that. Thanks again to Shafiaq and SK Concrete for accepting working on our small home project and for including us in their busy commercial and industrial schedule.

In the process, Adam and team broke the stairs immediately, and reassembled them with screws sticking out and chunks broken remains used to "level" the remaining stairs (photos of all work attached.) While on site, Adam asked for "200-300$" outside of the scope of the signed contract for the same work that would have been done with or without the additional request. Through the phone exchanges and emails regarding these issues Adam was arrogant and dismissive, yet also took blame for the stairs and will not resolve the issue. Adam's team poured our concrete before a heavy rain, but failed to redirect a gutter (as it had originally been before construction) from pouring directly onto the concrete causing a water stain from the pooling water on the fresh concrete. Again, when confronted with this issue and asking for a resolution Adam denied blame and said "wait a year". As of 6/11/26 there has been no reply nor efforts made on behalf of this company to repair any personal property damage nor resurface the concrete stain/ finish the job as fully paid for.
