Called to get my SUV AC fixed, they said they were very busy but could make an appointment in 3 weeks for me to bring it in and get fixed. Made appt and brought it in Tues morning, they said they were backed up and it might take 2-3 days to get it fixed. Why make an appt and then have it sit in the parking lot for 3 days? Why not make the appt for 3 days from the appt? Anyway, end of 3 days and they still never even looked at it, just sat in the parking lot the whole time. Picked it up at the end of the 3 day since I needed it back for the weekend. On the bright side if you're looking for free airport parking this place is cheap since they didn't charge me for parking here for three days at least. read more

Three stars, since that is the average of my 1 star experience and my 5 star experience. First, the 5 star: about 4 years ago, I wanted to buy a truck. My friend suggested I contact his buddy at Covert Ford. I drove to the lot and wrote down the Vin # of 3 trucks, any one of which I would have been happy with. I called my friend's friend, told him which trucks I liked, what I could afford for my monthly payments, and what I would be putting down as a payment. At 5:15pm, I pulled in to Covert. 5 minutes later, I'd signed some papers and was on the road with my new truck, sweet deal in tow. THAT is how I want my car buying experiences to be. 1 Star Experience: In the used car department, my wife had selected an Explorer she wanted. We haggled a hair on price but came to an agreement reasonably quickly. They "made ready" the vehicle and I picked it up. The salesman told me that we had 3 days to return the vehicle for any reason and 30 days to bring it back if anything was wrong so that it could be fixed at Covert's expense. I was also told that the key fobs for the keyless entry needed to be programmed and if I could come by the next day, they would program them and I'd be on my way. The next day, when I came in, the technician informed me that he couldn't program the key fobs because the model we were purchasing was not equipped for keyless entry. (I am peeved) The salesman apologized and said he was sorry for the mistake, but since the month had turned over the previous day from July to August, he couldn't reverse the sale even though I didn't want the vehicle anymore. (I know it seems minor, but my wife was usually the last to leave her office, so it was important to me she have the keyless entry/panic combo). At this point, I was no longer peeved, just angry and feeling deceived. My wife convinced me to keep the car. Four weekends later on a drive to Houston, the compressor on the A/C goes out. Even though the vehicle only had 30k miles on it, such are the breaks in life. I called the service department and was told that they would be open again on Monday. I showed up early and told them I needed them to fix the A/C. No problem, they said. When I picked the car up 2 days later, the bill was $800, which I was told my warranty would cover if I paid the $150 deductible. I explained that I had been told they would fix anything for 30 days after purchase. The service tech had never heard of that...the sales manager had never heard of that....the salesmen (who I located) confessed he had just made that up and he sure was sorry, so he paid the deductible on the repair. 3 months later, on Christmas Eve, the hose connecting the radiator started leaking as a result of the fan belt rubbing it. The belt was out of position because the aforementioned A/C problem was fixed incorrectly.... and on and on and on and on. I still have the Explorer. I will never use Covert for service again, and I will think very hard about buying another vehicle from them. read more

I started searching for a car with the idea of what I wanted and what I wanted to pay. I stopped by Covert because our family has bought a truck there before. It started off great, we were given the chance to look at what they had and then came into the showroom and were greeted promptly and we took it for a test drive. When we got back it all went downhill from there. The overagressive salesperson was ready to put us in the car that day even though we repeatedly said we had just started our search. I apologized that I wasn't ready to make a 15k purchase in an hour. Jeez. They came back with pricing and the monthly payments were unacceptable. They got the price where we wanted it but the APR and 72 months was where they really thought they were going to screw us over. I said I need it at this, and if you can't get it there we're not interested. I'm sorry I don't want to play these stupid sales games. They promised me they could get it there and I told them I would call back after we looked other places. In the evening we decided if they could get us to the monthly payment we wanted then we were ready. I live 30 minutes away but I made the trip back up after I was reassured by the manager and salesperson that they could get the monthly price I wanted. Once I was there I was quickly brushed off to the finance department where I was left waiting for an hour. It was not busy. That was a very bad idea on their part because I admit I was really unhappy and ready to leave at that point, but I waited to see what they came back with. Talked to the finance guy, he then told me my payments were going to be $50 more a month then I agreed on and I was treated like it was the only option I had. What happened to getting it to where I wanted? Liars. Then when I complained it wasn't what we had agreed upon I could hear them talking about me, he came back to the table with a number that was still unacceptable, and insulted me. At that point I left. What the hell is everyone talking about the auto industry being in trouble? I thought I was doing the right thing even LOOKING at an American car and they treated me like an idiot and didn't seem to want my business otherwise I would have been treated well like I was at Mazda, Nissan and Honda. My mom and dad were involved in an accident, and needed to replace their truck quickly. We decided to stop by Covert since it was the closest Ford dealer to our house, and seemed to have a large inventory. I had been there before, but have never even had a salesman come out to talk to me. Found out that's part of their "schtick." Very low pressure, and our salesman named Travis Palu was absolutely great in helping get the initial deal done. Told them what we were looking for, and they found the right truck for us. Okay price on the truck. It was nice to find exactly what we were looking for at the first place we stopped. Why only one star? Well, because of the sheer amount of time we had to spend at the dealership, and their rather shady business practices after the sale. We walked in just before 1:00 PM, and did not have the truck to drive out until nearly 8:00 PM! We found the truck we wanted within 30 minutes of walking in. We had reached a deal soon after that. We sat and sat... just waiting on them to get all of their ducks in a row to finalize everything. No idea why it took so long. Already had financing in place before the purchase. Granted, it took them a little while to figure out the trade value on the truck traded, but seriously... Why so long? Plus, it seemed that everyone we talked to was juggling more than one customer at a time. I know that managers have to deal with multiple people at a time, but salesmen should not engage you at all if they have another customer coming in. Our first salesman dumped us after 10 minutes because he had another customer coming in. Sorry, but if I'm sitting in front of you, READY to buy a car, then we should have your complete attention. This, while a whole table full of salespeople/management sat around a desk and "shot the bull" for most of our time there. They even began discussing us, and our trade among themselves where we could hear them. Just bad business practice, guys... seriously. Speaking of taking their sweet time... We intended to trade the truck that had been wrecked. They gave us a price on it, and we made a deal. AFTER everything was done, and papers were getting ready to be signed, they decided that they would NOT do the trade because we didn't have the title for the paid off trade, strictly because my parents were from out of state. I live 5 minutes from Covert, but that did not seem to matter. My parents ended up having to just buy the truck without including the trade, as they had no real choice. They gave us a written note on letterhead stating that they would pay us the amount agreed upon for the trade as soon as they received the title. Well, they did not trust us that we were telling the truth about having the truck paid off. We had the title in their hands within a few days. That was nearly 2 weeks ago, and now they have the title, truck, and still no check. I was told that they would overnight the check, and that it would be in my parents' hands by this past Wednesday. Still no dice. They asked us to trust them, and then violated that trust. I sincerely hope that the money is in hand within the next couple of days. I never want to set foot in that dealership again. My review is based on a NEW car buying experience, not car repair or buying used. After enduring a car accident (not at fault) that forced me into a car buying situation; I originally sought out to buy the new 2010 Chevy Equinox, but after getting frustrated with their very limited availability, I began to seriously consider buying the Ford Escape (my original favorite anyways). I won't get into the whole long story with how I ended up deciding on purchasing the 2010 SCION xB (box on wheels) but just to let you know that I will also be reviewing Charles Maund Scion/Toyota (positively) Maxwell Ford (negatively) Capitol Chevrolet (neutral), Henna Chevrolet (neutral) and Champion Toyota (Negatively). This car shopping experience has been grueling. Basically, at one time or another I talked with nearly every dealer in town, test drove a few different makes/models, from Ford and Chevy, to Honda and Kia and have found many of the stereotypical "car salesmen/sales manager" that most people dislike, and a few really genuine guys out there that make the car buying process what it SHOULD be, informative, exciting, and easy. I am not sure how I originally came to Covert, I think it was from an inventory search online. The sales rep that I was assigned was: Scott Acker. We conversed mostly through e-mail, where he was very quick and responsive. He sent me PDF's of window stickers and gave me what his price would be on each. For the 2010 models I was interested in he was quoting me approx $1,700 under invoice (before Rebates/Incentives). After my experience with Maxwell Ford his upfront discount pricing was refreshing. He always answered my calls, and when he was with another customer (often) he would answer just to let me know he'd call me back as son as he was finished with them (which he always did). Scott was awesome and very responsive via e-mail, and when I submitted my credit app online and came in to test drive he was very honest and forthcoming of my situation. By paying off my car and getting rid of all of my CC's before moving to Austin 4 years ago I unknowing put myself in a very tough spot credit wise. This was a bit of a wake up call for me, I had no idea that by not carrying revolving debt it would make it nearly impossible to get financing. Even knowing the likelihood of me purchasing a car from him plummeting, he still took me out to show me the different models I was interested in Black/Black XLT sport, or the Silver Limited, as well as showed me some alternative options. So I left the dealership that day a bit crushed and upset, but really liking my sales guy and hoping that between us we could find a way to make the deal happen. He then worked hard to find a way for me to get approved for what I really wanted (the 2010 Ford Escape XLT or Limited). Though the financing was approved, and I technically could have maybe afforded the car, but it would have been a bad call, and he even suggested it would probably not be in my best interest. (Very high payments, long term loan, would have stayed upside down a long time) I was crestfallen, this was very hard for me to hear and grasp, but he was right. However, the alternative offered was to be a Ford Fusion or Ford Focus, and I really didn't want another sedan. While I really wanted to give Scott my business (he certainly earned it), after weighing many options, researching more makes/models and new vs used, I decided budget or not I don't really like either of those cars, and I don't want to be in the same position I was in nearly 9 years ago when I bought a car I really didn't care for. It is really hard to make monthly payments on something you hate... So very late in the game I researched a make/model I had never considered before, test drove on Friday, and decided to just go for it. I turned in my rental and picked up the new car on Monday. In the end I went with a SCION xB from Charles Maund. Though the xB was certainly a compromise, I am happy with the purchase. The box-on-wheels gives me most of what I was looking for in the Escape: the cargo room I needed, safety, fuel efficiency but with a good trade-in value, better maneuverability and lower maintenance cost, and lower overall and monthly payments than even the Focus. I believe this to be the best thing for me in my current situation. Later, when I am looking to buy again, the very first person I will contact is Scott/Covert Ford and I have every intention of doing business with him at that time. So apparently I am in the extreme minority here with my rating, but I *would* do business with these guys. Through this experience I have talked to just about every dealership in town and sometimes a couple different people at each place, and through this whole experience I only found a few people that I think were being honest and straight forward with me. One I ended up buying my SCION from, the other I will most likely buy my next car from (Scott). read more

I was mortified when I came to the realization that I may have left my $150 sunglasses inside of a loaner vehicle that I had just returned to Covert yesterday. I had conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle prior to return, yet had a sneaking suspicion that I didn't check under the seats. I contemplated giving up on the idea of attaining them ever again because I was certain that even IF I had left them somewhere in the vehicle, surely nobody had the integrity to retain them for me. Nonetheless, I gave calling the shop a try anyway. Kristina, at the cashier counter in maintenance, listened to my concerns over the phone and promptly went out to the previously borrowed Ford Escape to search. Within 5 minutes, she had found my precious golden Ray Bans of which I had so carelessly left under the seat after work. She had the honesty and integrity to tell me so, and reserve them behind the counter. Kristina, I cannot thank you enough for your endeavor, and quality of character. You're my savior! read more

If you're a woman trying to buy a car, I'd recommend that you stay far away from this place. Two stars is about right. I was in a car accident and needed to find a car quickly. I had a specific SUV in mind and it turned out the Saturday I bought my car Covert Ford had someone trade in the exact model I wanted. The car I wanted was an Acura, which is bizarre to find it at a Ford dealership but since Acuras are limited in Texas, I was very eager to check this vehicle out. I called ahead and spoke to Monty. We arrived and checked out the vehicle. While perusing said vehicle I noticed Monty kept telling my boyfriend everything without addressing me. My boyfriend at one point looked Monty in the face and said: "You need to talk to her (me) because she's the one buying the car, not me". The rest of the visit, Monty spoke to my boyfriend till we negotiated price. Covert gave me everything I wanted in terms of price but the car was not ready for sale. It had not been inspected, it needed a cleaning, an oil change and there was only one of two keys available. Covert Ford promised to honor my requests to get the car up to par. Monty assured this to my boyfriend. I came back a month later. Monty miraculously called me (and not my boyfriend) to inform me that the 2nd key and my tag was ready to be picked up. I told him that I would be in on a specific date and that I expected to have everything ready. I know Ford is not an Acura dealership but I did ask Monty if they would have everything ready, like the oil filter etc? Monty said "Yes, yes, come in, come in". I arrive on the date, as I said I would. No one knew what to do in the service area. Once Monty was located, they took my car back some mystery area. About 3 1/2 hours went by while I waited for an oil change and what I thought was a car detailing. I walk over the used car building and see my car parked out in front. After confronting Monty why it was taking so long, I heard one excuse after another. The detailing hadn't been done either. At this point I was incredibly frustrated and a Manager came over. I explained the situation and he was going to get "right on it". The car was gone for another 30 minutes while it got inspected and I stated I refused to stay at the dealership more than 4 hours for a scheduled oil change. I would not stay any longer and that I would be expecting them to reimburse me for a car detailing I would get on my own. The Manager agreed and gave me his card. I made sure to check the oil was clean and indeed it was. I was beyond surprised. I left completely frustrated but knowing I'd never have to go back, made me happy. I cannot stress enough how stereo typical I think this "good ol boy aka Sexist" Ford dealership is. Not to mentioned its unorganized and you have to fight to get what you have agreed to. Out of all the dealerships in Austin, save yourself some time and find a better one. I wish I had. read more

So I was ready to sign on a new vehicle and was transitioned over from sales to finance. Walk into the office of Mr. Owen who doesn't make eye contact while we're in there for 10 minutes. Then when he decides to do so, he is what you would call a smart a@@. Every time I have a legitimate question about our financing, he starts to say things like, "What you don't trust me"....man I don't know you and hell no I don't trust you is what I'm thinking. He gets nasty to the point where my wife who is usually passive get involved. As we are getting finished signing the documents, I ask another question and he exclaims, if you don't like it, then tear it up. I do so and my wife and I walk out. According to the dealership, Mr. Owen is their Million Dollar closer and #1 in the country. I guess you can be piss poor and still be successful. read more

Go anywhere else! Went to covert yesterday and bought a 2016 ford fiesta sedan. My husband loved his experience but it was awful. Let me say that this is my car I am making payments and I am driving it but the salespeople were only interested in what he wanted I kept saying "no I don't want that" or "yes that's what I want" but it didn't seem to matter. The only thing I was able to pick was the color. I am so upset about it. It is a decent car, it gets me where I need to go but the service is so bad that I really don't want it. If I ever have to go get a new car, it won't be from here. A tip for covert: don't treat women like that. read more

I really liked this place...at first. But, we ended up going with a different car from another dealership, and that's when it went downhill. I bought a car from the Covert Jeep in Austin and had the most amazing experience I could ever imagine or expect. I thought we'd receive the same service at another Covert dealership, and we did at first. The problem started when we kindly told the dealership that we decided on a different car, but were thankful for their help. The salesman got the price of the Escape down to what we were looking for, but the car was lacking other features and failed a safety test that was important to us. So, we let the salesman know that we went in another direction, and that we were no longer interested. "I decided to stay with Subaru since I'm more familiar with them and they are more of what I'm looking for. Thanks for taking the time to let me take a look at the escapes." We received a text message from our salesman saying everything from "you gave me your word" to "you should've gone with us because Ford is American made and provides American jobs" to "we spent time and money detailing this car for you", and once more "you gave me your word." We understand that the salesman is probably upset that he missed out on a sale, but our decision has nothing to do with the service he provided, and everything to do with finding another car that had more features and better safety rating. I was just so shocked at the reaction we were given after letting him know that we were thankful for his help but no longer interested. As far as I'm concerned, we shouldn't be held accountable for purchasing a car until we have paperwork to sign in front of us. We never said that we were for sure going to get this car even after he got it in our price range. I was disappointed with the custom service provided after the deal fell through. There was no reason to try and guilt someone into buying a car after they thanked you for all your help. We really had a good experience until this moment, and enjoyed working with the salesman until he gave us attitude for going with someone else. Overall though, I would still recommend Covert dealerships. Hopefully they will be more respectful to the customers they lose, and treat them the same way they do the customers they make deals with. After all, just because we didn't buy this car from them, doesn't mean we wouldn't have come back to buy a car from them in the future. read more

Called for an appointment to have my vehicle fixed on a recall for defective airbag on Monday. Said they would pick up my car up at 10 am on Tuesday. No one came by 10:15 so I called and they said they were very busy and would be there in 15 minutes. They showed up at my house at 11:30. It is now Friday and not a word from Covert Ford. I call and they transfer me to a service writer. No answer and no voice mail. I call back ask to speak to a manager. I get transferred no answer voice mail is full. I call back and am given his cell number. I call leave a message. 2 hours later no return call. I call custom service at Ford Motor Co.They call Covert Ford and get someone on the line and I am transferred to another manager because the first manager I was told to call is on vacation, really?. This manager I finally get to talk to is defensive and tells me well your service writer should have told you it would take a while because we have to drop the dash down and it could be a couple of days. I never talked to a service writer I tell him and the car has been there 3 days now. They hadn't ever started to work on it. I went and picked my car up with it never even being looked at. You would think that Ford had these defective airbags installed they' would make it a priority to fix them because they can cause injury or death. But Covert Ford does not care about customer service or their safety. They made a terrible mistake and did not try to make it right. They could have offered me a loaner car and got my vehicle fixed if they really wanted too. I went in and picked up my vehicle no one takes to me to try and make a bad situation right. read more

Bought my Lincoln MKX from covert in 2016 and had a great experience. Just last week I had to use the service department. 1) getting in and out of the parking lot is like going through a maze. 2) they kept my car five days while waiting on a part...during this time I had to contact them everyday to see if I had to bum a ride to and from work. They made no attempt to keep me apprised of the situation. 3) on the fifth day I called to see if they had a loaner I could borrow. No, they were all out. I could pick up the car and bring it back for work when the part came in. . I explained that after five days I expected better - I live 30 miles from the dealership. Nothing they can do. 4) arrive to pick up the car. My keys can't be found...coward service rep makes no attempt to see me though they have to get keys from him. 5) can't get out of that ridiculous parking lot, and then 6) I'm told the part didn't come in because ford is having problems with its sync. There is no fix for my "luxury car. I have no navigation system and it won't sync to my phone....so no hands free calls to comply with regs. The part was not covert's fault....but the poor customer service is. Had they communicated or even offered me a tank of gas for my trouble, i'd probably be buying a car to replace that crappy mkx. Contacted this dealership about a used car on 5/31. Adam Barker, sales manager, confirmed it was available and I made arrangements to see it on 6/1. They sent several emails to confirm the appointment and person to contact, Anthony Montgomery. I also received a reminder from Anthony Montgomery at 10am on 6/1. When I arrived, Anthony escorted my son and I to his desk. He had that sleazy " let me get you into a car" pitch ready as he asked me to take a seat while telling me the car was sold. Really??!! I asked why he didn't have the professional courtesy to email me. They had no problem trying to lure me down there with several emails, yet couldn't provide the common courtesy to let me know the car was not there, if it was there at all, before wasting my time. This is the epitome of sleazy car sales tactics and exactly why people don't trust them. As a side note, I emailed Adam Barker @ 1:20pm. It is now 5:20pm and haven't received a response. Obviously, this is part of their sleazy playbook. Tells you everything you need to know about this sleazy joint. We were asked to wait while they "looked' for the vehicle, then attempted to upsale us to a newer model. Dishonest and cheesy at best. No thanks. We left and bought the same vehicle we came to see a a nearby dealership the same day. Got an awesome deal on my F250 at Covert Hutto, but I don't want to drive all the out there for service, so since Covert Ford Austin is a mile from work, I thought I would let them do it. We took our former Cadillac to Covert Cad and service was great. Our former GMC to Covert GMC, good serivce, but not Cadillac service. Both vehicles were purchased from those dealers. SO I take the F250 Diesel in for serivce. Drop it off. Head to work, no problems. Get a call and email around 11:00 that it is done. Great I think. I have a co-worker take me to lunch and drop me off. I get done paying at 12:26, the porter delivers my car at 12:56!!!!!!!! I took them 30 minutes to bring me my car. NOT acceptable. 2 options I guess. Call ahead to ensure my car is REALLY ready when I get there. OR go get Super China and eat it in the waiting room while they figure out how to get my truck to me!!!!!! I was patient for 15 minutes because I DO know how screwed up there parking is, but from minute 16 to 30 I nearly had a stroke my blood pressure was so high. Not sure if I will be back. Not that coupons or anything would help, but NO offer of ANYTHING other than a call back almost a week later confirming that they know their parking is screwed up!!!!! Don't get me wrong, the service they did to my truck was top notch, BUT if I have to take and extra 30 minutes on my lunch hour to wait on my truck, I will go to my near by Christian Brothers who act like they care about your entire experience!!!! read more

I agree that Covert isn't the best Ford dealership. I also agree that the location can be annoying depending on what time you try to visit - terrible from 3-6pm. But I will say that they are very chill about test-driving cars. And for that I really like this place. We had Pablo show us some cars, and he was very relaxed. Not that "you must walk out w/ a car now" type of guy. And I like that. He was also cool w/ admitting when he didn't know the answer to a question that we asked. My brother generally knows more than most of the car salesmen anyway - and so I hate it when they try to one-up him. Pablo didn't try to do that at all. However, it was slightly irritating when he didn't know that the Tremor (bad-ass F-150) had already been released. We left here and went to Leif and saw the Tremor. And Pablo told us that it wasn't going to be released any time soon. However, overall, I really liked Pablo. He was much better than 90% of the other sales people I have encountered in Austin. So for Pablo... a 4-star. Thanks. I enjoy that you at least remember the old Ford cars, trucks, and other silly stuff that we also know because we had a dad that worked at Ford and grew up in Detroit. read more

This place is amazing! I initally took my vehicle to Maxwell Ford in South Austin for an estimate of the work that needed to be done. I was quoted almost $1200 with multiple items to be fixed (I was told that that was "just a start" and that it might not completely fix the problem). I didn't like the service I received there (it took them 4 hours to call and tell me what was found, 30 minutes to let me know that my vehicle was ready to be picked up even though I watched them drive it around the front when they were finished with it, etc.), so I went to Covert Ford. Paul M. was very patient and called me 30 minutes later to let me know what was wrong with the vehicle. Of course the items that Maxwell recommended to be replaced were not needed and the parts that were needed were covered under warranty. Needless to say my bill was almost $600 less than what I was quoted at Maxwell and the customer service was ten times better! We'll be taking all of our vehicles to Covert instead! read more

5 weeks in the car shop for basic warranty repairs in AC and automatic lock handles and still I don't have my car back. Little to no communication from the technician team, no responses from any emails I have sent. AND they expected me to figure out my own car rides stating that they don't have any loaners available unless I want to schedule a month out. As a preface, my experience bridged nearly 18 months of car-hunting and four months of settling on the right model. I ended up with a 2015 Ford EcoBoost Mustang. After my 18 months of saving and searching for a new car, I finally spotted a car I really fell in love with. I put in an internet application to set up a test drive and within minutes Travis had contacted me to set up a test-drive. I ended up arriving early (almost exclusively out of excitement) and Travis was unavailable. He passed me on to a truck salesman who pulled the keys and walked me up to the car. I attempted to ask him some initial questions about the car and his verbatim response was "I really don't know. I don't sell Mustangs. I'm the F-150 salesman." He handed me the keys, followed up with "Have her back by 7" and allowed me to drive away unaccompanied. My first test drive was a real disappointment. Completely unprepared for the uncomfortable Recaro seats and the raw power out of the V8 (WAY out of my price range to begin with), I drove back to the dealership after a few short minutes. Travis met me at the door to take the keys and asked me how it went. After describing everything I didn't like about it, Travis pulled the keys for a less powerful and FAR more comfortable base model V6. This follow-up drive was incredibly informative and he was able to answer most of my questions about the logistics of the car. I thanked him for staying after close with me and told him I would keep in touch. Over the next 3 months, I would spend 6 more evenings at the dealership with Travis asking fine-tuned questions about the car (some of which Travis either didn't know or didn't care enough to answer fully- I couldn't tell). In mid-April, I finally secured the financing for the car, sold some stock, and got ready to cash in for my chosen model. I asked Travis to bring it in from another dealership since Covert couldn't provide the exact model I wanted and I was not about to wait another 4-6 weeks for a new one to come from factory. This was relatively low-stress since the dealership isn't a "competing" dealership with Covert. Side note: I was assured that if the car were at Leif Johnson there would be "no chance in hell" that it would get traded in. I brought in all the paperwork and arrived to pay for the vehicle. As a first-time new car buyer, I was not prepared to be traded off to Hades to actually get my transaction completed. His name is Rick, and he's the devil. Travis didn't show me the sell sheet before sending me to the gallows, but this guy Rick insisted that the sell sheet was the end-all be-all of the car buying process. It took me over 45 minutes to give him my money (I literally walked in with cash!!!) because he wanted to argue about every single line-item and despite me stating that I was exempt from dealer specific add-ons due to my corporate affiliation, he insisted that window etching was not something he could remove. The cars don't come from Dearborn with window etching and per my contract I'm not responsible for that fee. Next, he belittled me for simply considering the extended warranty (which I ended up purchasing) because he compared it to buying protection on my phone. He laughed when I compared it to Insurance and talked down to me like I was a misbehaving child. I was seriously pissed when I left because I felt like my time had not only been wasted, but it left a really sour taste in my mouth. I will probably never buy another car from Covert because somehow they manage to find a bunch of horse-heavy arrogant sexists to staff this dealership. It's a shame too because I absolutely love my car. I just wish I could have gotten it from somewhere that shared my excitement and enthusiasm as a first-time buyer. read more

I have shopped with Covert for almost 20 years and today that ends. I bought a 2017 F250 ($52k) Truck. I was told that this truck went through vigorous inspections. Sales guy even pointed out that they put new tires on it. I was very satisfied with the purchase process as I have always been. This was what I have come to love about covert. Fast forward 2 weeks later. Driving to work a day before I have to make a long trip out of town for funeral and my brakes are slipping. They didn't even squeak once just was extremely poor stopping. Luckily I have a mechanic that I know and trust. I stop by he said leave it here I will take a look. Text me an hour later with a picture of my pads. There was no pad!!! How do you send someone off knowing the brakes are gone!! This is a 250, extremely heavy powerful weekend and I am about to drive 300 miles out of town. This could have killed me and family. Get it back drive to the office to wrap up lose ends and the oil change light comes on and the check engine light. Which to me indicates hey just cleared the codes slapped it on the lot and sold it. Call the sales guy and he basically has nothing to say except I am not a mechanic!!! FOR REAL!! Done, my gran parents would blown away by the dealership that the too trusted for 70 plus years. Covert I suggest you evaluate your sales staff to better handle real problems and not just sign a contract!! read more

Over the last 20+ years, I've bought several vehicles from the Coverts. Never been disappointed until now. I recently purchased a new Platinum Explorer. I'm happy with the vehicle and satisfied with the price. It's the delivery of the vehicle that causes me concern. It was a chore to get the car to me because they had to get it from San Marcos, which I understand. I attempted to minimize my time at the dealership by taking care of a lot of the process online and by phone. I called ahead the day before the car came in and scheduled an appointment with finance. Still had to wait a half hour. 30 minutes in finance...no problem. Salesman said he had to put gas in a loaner. After a 30 minute wait, no gas. The guys out back hadn't even left the lot. I was tired after an hour and a half and put gas in it myself. Next day a porter dropped the car off at my house. Nice, but no explanation of features. That's a drop off. Not a delivery. Never introduced to management. Haven't heard from anyone at the dealership since the sale. Not the Covert service I remember. I miss Mike Babb. read more

I was on Yelp just checking the hours for Covert and felt compelled to review. I have bought three used cars from Covert in the last five years. All of my purchases have been from Monty. All purchases were fast, fair, and painless. I got exactly what I expected and paid for. Tomorrow I plan to go in to buy a new car. I have used the service department on multiple occasions. Yes, they're busy. They do their best to squeeze people in where they can...so,yes, if you don't make an appointment it's going to take you longer than Jiffy Lube. As for complaints about being "ripped off"... Do your research before you go on. They are salespeople. If you don't want to haggle, go to a "no haggle" dealer. read more

We were shopping for a used car with low mileage for our grandson who is going to college in August. He searched the internet for dealerships that had the best selection. First place we went was Covert Ford used car lot. Our sales person with Jeff Sheppard who was super! He understood what we were looking for and he really knew his inventory. He only showed us cars in our price range and the cars my grandson was looking for. We found the perfect car with Jeff's help. Jeff is understanding and worked so well with both of us. The whole "finding the right car" process with so stress free! The manager of the Used Car lot, Bert Sheppard, also does the finance. He found me a terrific company with a lower rate than my own bank was going to give me. The paperwork took about 15 minutes. We have purchased, in the last 38 years, probably 30+ cars for us, our boys, and now our first grandchild. I have NEVER spent just 15 minutes with a finance manager. I also have never had a deal go through without the sales person going back and forth to the manager for a better deal. I highly recommend Covert Ford Used Car and these to men! read more

I came in yesterday to trade in my car. Which was on it's last life. Literally made it to the dealership and it would no longer start up. Monty was amazing at getting me the car I wanted. He was not a normal pushy salesman. He actually listen to what I wanted. I have to say a huge thank you to him, gabriel in finance and everyone else involved. I give this place NO STARS, Go to COVERT HUTTO! I recently just bought a pre-owned truck. It all started with a my salesman who was new at the time. he did OK, then another guy did horrible and the financing manager was even worse. The whole deal was done and I receive a text from the financing manager asking if I could bring more money just so the salesman can make a little more money on his check. Which was really weird to me. I turned in 2 Keys to the vehicle I traded in and I received 1 key to the truck i purchased. Asking for another key, I was told i had to pay $300 for them to make 1. I told them no...3 weeks pass by I get a knock on my door from a guy I don't know. He ask me do I have an extra key to the truck he just bought? I look outside, its my old truck, I asked how did he get my address and was told info from last owing the truck. Another weird ordeal. So telling the guy I gave them 2 keys when i traded in the vehicle and they did me the same way. He needed the other key to "turn off the my key function". Calling the dealership right after this happen I spoke with a manager that heard me out and said he was calling me right back. NO CALL BACK...not to mention all the issues that was going to be supposedly fixed, haven't even heard from the 2 guys yet, and every time I call, I get the run around. Horrible experience!! I know I'm saying go to covert HUTTO its still Covert, putting money in Covert pocket, but I always have pleasant experiences with them. read more

If yoy are buying from them, stay away from any imports, no knowledge whatsoever about what they are selling and they tell you that they send the car to an outside service center to have the car checked prior to selling. Sure, explain to me how come I have to install a new 1500 ac compressor in less than a week of owning my car. read more

This place gets a 5 from me. They went so far above and beyond to make sure that we got a good deal on our pre-owned 2009 Honda Fit, it was awesome. By far the most painless car buying experience ever. I like these folks so much that even though I'm not a fan of Ford cars in general, I am going to keep an eye on their pre-owned lot just because I really want my next car to be from them. read more

One star is too much!!! Horrible. Pretty much a bait and switch just using financing instead of vehicles. We wanted to get as much of the paperwork out of the way before we arrived. Since Covid, many car dealers offer curbside, etc. We filled out the paperwork from home. We sent them photos of driver's license, income, insurance. We get an alert that the credit score was run. Then they told us we were approved for the financing options we wanted. So we drove the 70+ miles to sign and drive home. When we arrived, we took it for a test drive and were extremely happy to be buying this vehicle. HOWEVER... now they say we don't have proof of income, which we already sent and were supposedly approved. They push my son to get someone to co-sign. He refused and then they started dinging the credit AGAIN to "attempt" to find a bank to give him the loan they already said he had. We told them to stop and left. Four hours wasted. Spare yourself and avoid them. read more
