Probably the worst car buying experience I have ever had or should I say didn't have. Worked with Angie Smucker, who is not very knowledgeable about vehicles so if she approaches you, try to avoid her. Covert did not have the F150 I wanted on the lot, so we found one at another dealership. They have the ridiculous "how much do you wanna pay" order form that you write in your number- order taker salesperson runs over to the the wizard of Oz in the corner, they write a number, you write a number, they write a number... then order taker says "we are selling this less then invoice and losing money" - ha! Apparently I am a good negotiator because every car I have bought the dealer only made $100 or is losing money. Dealerships do not pay "invoice" - just add up the amount of salaries for everyone it takes to sell cars and the rest of the overhead for the business. I could care less how much they make on each car and I am glad they make money - it just irritates me that they want you to believe that they are not making any money as if to makes you feel guilty for beating them up over the price. It is a stupid mind game they try to play. Anyway, finally agreed on the number, filled our credit paperwork, put down $500 deposit to move vehicle, signed the purchase order and finance paperwork that said I took delivery that day(even though I had to wait till next week to actually get the truck) Monday rolls around and get a call and that afternoon the other dealership sold the same truck to someone else that I had bought on Friday. Kenny Covert said that it happens sometimes where a dealer wanted to sell retail to their customer and not wholesale to another dealership. I get that, but Covert should have told me they could not sell me the vehicle until they actually got it on their lot, instead of doing all the paperwork and taking money from me. Angie Smucker then attempts to find me a similar truck, which was hard to do, so instead brings in a truck I did not want but they were going to work a "good deal". I told them not to bring the truck there and they did anyway, tried to get me to go back over to the dealership to "make a deal". When I insisted they just give me the new number they came back and asked me for over $1200 more on a vehicle with less options then the one I bought. Needless to say I have wasted countless hours with this dealership and still don't have a vehicle. My sales rep doesn't listen to what I am telling her. I emailed Kenny Covert and asked nicely to be reassigned to another salesperson because mine was incompetent and she just kept calling me trying to get me to make a worse deal on a truck I did not want. No means NO! Needless to say Covert is awful to deal with and I will have to start the painful process with a different scumbag dealership somewhere else. US Government should have let the other two go under as they would have actually had to work on the business model and make the consumers happy - or we can just keep getting the same old crappy car buying experience. read more

So I found a truck that I liked at Covert Ford while looking online. I called the dealership to inquire about it and was connected with a sales person. I live in New Braunfels so I had to send photos of my trade to them to get an idea of value. To make this part short the sales person told me that they spoke with the manager and came back with a number that we agreed on. When I was able to drive up to the dealership on Sunday I was given another sales person to work with. My wife and two sons (2 and 4) were with me. We thought this would be a fast trip since we already had a pre approval with the lender and had spoken with the dealership. We were dead wrong we sat there from almost 2 hours and when we had had enough and were ready to leave they had just completed the appraisal on our trade. We ended up leaving because the sales person couldn't give me a straight answer on the cost of the truck. The following day I called the dealership and asked to speak with a manager. I explained everything to the manager and he apologized and said he would look at the numbers and get back with me. What he did was have another sales person contact with me and offer me a deal that was 3k over what had previously been agreed upon. I told him thanks but no thanks the deal was too high. At one point when I asked the sales person a question about the deal via text he said "I'm too busy right now." This dealership obviously does so much business that customer service is not a concern for them. I was looking at purchasing a brand new 80k truck with a pre approval in hand. The customer service was a complete deal breaker. The salesperson wasn't knowledgeable about the car at all. To start off he didn't even introduce himself or bother to shake my hand. After briefly talking to him it was clear that he didn't know much about the car. When he did led us to the car he realized that he forgot the keys. My husband and I traveled from San Antonio Texas, to visit Covert Ford used dealership. Once we walked in I noticed 4 salesman. It took five minutes of us just standing in the middle of the room, waiting for someone to acknowledge us. I noticed one of the salesmen Jeff on Facebook the whole time. As he made eye contact with us several times, but never offered a Hello or can I help you? I finally walked around the office to find someone to help us. Once we found someone they asked Jeff if he could help us. He said that he was busy with someone. We were then introduced to Bryan who was glad to help. My husband went on a test run while I stayed inside. The whole time I was inside Jeff the salesman, who was supposedly with someone was on Facebook again! I watched him the full 15 minutes as I waited in the office. A couple walked in shortly after. Jeff was fist to greet them and offer his help! Customer service is a huge factor when purchasing vehicles. My husband and I have been to plenty of dealerships in San Antonio. My buddy and I stopped by because these guys were advertising a nice little truck online. We walked around the lot for about 10 minutes trying to find it ourselves but no luck. No one came talk to us. We had to walk into the sales office and ask for a car salesmen! (I couldn't believe it) Finally we get some help. We ask the salesmen to show us the truck they are advertising. Says they are having some computer issues but invited us to sit in his office while they sort things out. He starts making small talk, takes down my buddies information, starts talking about the budget and financing. After about 15 minutes of hanging out in his office we're like, just show us the truck. Salesmen proceeds to walk us around the entire lot again for 20 minutes and can't find the truck. Then he starts telling us about these other (more expensive) trucks they have on the lot. So we left. These guys tried to pull the ol' bait and switch. Advertised a nice truck for a great deal online, tried to up sell us once we got there. Total waist of time, would not recommend this dealership. read more

I went to Covert Ford looking for a new car and Mark Martin was eager to get me the car I wanted. Covert had a great selection of different cars. I was looking for a Mustang and they had a great variety to choose from. I also cant say enough great things about Mark. He was incredibly helpful, especially considering it was the first time I bought a new car. Mark appeared to have injured his foot and was having a hard time walking, but that did not stop him from walking around grabbing keys to different vehicles and showing me every car I wanted to look at. Even after I purchased the car, Mark made sure to follow up with me and ensure I was enjoying my new vehicle. The whole time Mark had a smile on his face. He was able to answer all my questions and address all of my concerns. The next time I buy a car, I will remember how great Mark and Covert Ford made the car buying experience. The purchase process was great with Covert but we almost immediately started having fan problems in our brand new vehicle. We were busy this summer so it took us a bit to get it in and now the service department is saying that it is our fault that the fan is loud (has been loud since a few weeks after purchase) because we put paper in the fan. read more

I have taken my Lincoln several times for nothing more than oil changes and had never had a problem. Recently I purchased 2 wiper blades. When exiting the part department a maintenance advisor asked if I wanted him to install them. That was a very nice gesture and I accepted. In the process, after a wiper was removed, the spring loaded arm snapped and broke the windshield. Now accidents happens and we should not be quick to get all in tiff. I judge a company from the way it reacts and the way it makes good on problems, not necessarily based on whether problems arise or not. The maintenance advisor was quick to reassure me that Covert will replace the windshield. It took some time to get a new glass in and replace it, but Covert honored their words and that to me speaks of integrity. A good Philadelphia lawyer could have argued that I was not actually contracted for a maintenance operation, the blade installation was a courtesy free service since I did not bring in the car for it but simply bought spares. Covert choose not to be so petty, owned up to a mistake and fixed it, you can not ask for more. read more

We just bought a used truck with the salesman Bob Nadeau. It was the best car buying experience I have ever had. He was very helpful but totally no pressure. He let us drive it around the lot and let us inspect the truck for a good hour while we tried to make a decision. He just went inside and came out to check on us every so often. When we decided to get the truck, he just flat out offered us the internet price and said he couldn't negotiate beyond another $500. We tried to offer several thousand less and he was polite but said that the offer was firm. We had researched the truck a lot and I already knew that he was truly offering us the best price in a no haggle type of way which I really liked. I was still happy with my deal. I had private financing so the whole process was really easy. We kept Bob and the business guy there over an hour past closing time, but they were gracious and patient. I don't remember the business guy's name but he was also nonpressure about the extra warranty's and service plans. When I declined, he offered me a lower price than my bank's package so we went with him. I would definitely buy here again. read more

I rarely feel the need to comment on a car dealership's customer service or lack thereof, but found this dealership's service so poor that I thought others should be warned. I had been corresponding with the associate and scheduled an appointment to view a Ford Explorer the next morning with the intent to purchase. It was a two hour drive -- and not very easy to find gas with a current shortage after the hurricane. I messaged her a couple of times prior to leaving that morning and she let us know she was there. What she failed to tell us was that the vehicle was not and had been part of a trade dealership. Once there, they offered "comparable" vehicles then offered to ship it back from Killeen (with the extra mileage) and the price now was $1900 more on their website than it had been been the previous day (I had the screenshot to prove it). I have a quote now to have the same level vehicle shipped to my door from Oklahoma and still save almost $1000 over their best price after all the hassle. Incompetent and deceptive staff and a waste of our day and gas to get to their store. I advise everyone who values honesty and integrity to take their business elsewhere. read more

My car was towed in on Sunday August 3rd after having some engine issues. I called Monday to make sure it was taken in on intake as they were closed Sunday. They called and asked what happened to the car and i informed them of the issues and was told i would receive a call back with an update. Called around 2 and the person at reception said they didn't have my car and asked if I was sure it was even towed to this location. Got a call from a manger a few minutes later that said they did have my car but my advisor wasn't there. I called at 6 that evening and got hung up on twice and asked to speak to a manager who then proceeded to tell me I would need a new engine. The car is a year and 4 months old. But no one could tell me why I needed an engine. Was told I would get a call Tuesday morning. By 12 I got no call so I called for an update. My advisor Rudely told me that maybe it would be in my best interest to take the car somewhere else since they are TOO high volume. WORST experience from a ford company for a family that has been purchasing ford vehicles for over 20 years. Will not be returning to covert and may never be purchasing a ford vehicle again. read more

I recently bought a F-150 almost new truck from Covert Ford Lincoln, working with Internet Sales Manager Paul online, then Salesman Pearce at the dealership. This is the 6th vehicle I have purchased, and it was my best buying experience so far. I had been to another local Ford dealer where a good salesman helped me figure out just what I wanted, but had a bad negotiation experience with his colleagues there, so I looked elsewhere for a truck. When I came to Covert Ford Lincoln, I knew just what I wanted, and they showed us inventory until my wife and I were satisfied we had the exact truck, then we quickly negotiated a fair deal on it and also on my trade-in, consistent with what I had discussed online with Paul. Finalizing payment with the finance guy went a lot quicker than we have had before as well, with straight talk about available options on extended warranty, etc, with no pressure or stalling. Nobody tried to give us the switcheroo or hide bogus charges in the numbers; just an honest negotiation over the final details of the deal we had already discussed online. We needed to have some accessories installed, so they gave us a loaner just like the truck we bought, and Salesman Pearce met me before business hours, when it was convenient for me, to get my truck when my accessories were installed. This is how buying a truck should be. From my very recent experience, there is a very wide range of possible buyer experiences in the Austin area, and Covert Ford Lincoln is vastly superior to the competition. I am a new loyal customer. I've been checking around on the prices for their accessories, and the prices Matt quoted me on bedliners and headache racks is reasonably competitive as well. Beware of their gimmicks and blatant lies, specifically from their website: " #1 Volume Ford Dealer in Central Texas for 16 years. We will beat any Internet deal period! " Here's my experience, at first I chatted with 2 different people in 2 separate occasions, and pointed them to the specific car I wanted to purchase and the price I wanted matched, but even after the 2nd person apologized for the first one not getting back to me, he did the exact same. With very good reviews online, I figured they were busy or somehow my communication fell through the cracks. So I came by the store and showed them an internet deal on a 2015 Mustang GT, and they just openly said: "we don't want to match it, as everyone is paying sticker for them right now, so why would we sell it to you for cheaper than that". I actually mentioned: because you claim to beat any internet deal, at which point they just semi-apologized, but nothing was offered in terms of honoring their word. So good luck in getting a price matched by these liars, they will only match if they like the price their competitors are advertising. read more

My mom and brother had purchased a brand new mustang from them years ago with no problem at all, I wish I could say the same about my experience. I went to these guys to purchase my new 2015 mustang GT Premium, and everything was awful. The one I wanted with the specific color and options I wanted was in a different state, and that's totally fine. They said it was either an extra $1,000 to get it trucked in or they could have a driver bring it here, which was fine, except the fact that they told me that it would have 300 miles on it when it got here. I was fine with 300, however, when I went to pick it up, it has over 600 miles on it. I was not happy at all about that, and when I mentioned it to them, they were unwilling to do anything about it. I also told my salesman, Joseph, to make sure that the car washers didn't leave any swirl marks or scratches on it. Well, guess what was all over it when I went to pick it up. So I left it for them to fix, and when I came back, it was even worse. They told me to bring it back so they could take it to a separate shop to buff it out and fix it. They ended up keeping it for a few days, because they "wanted it to be perfect." Well, so did I, so I didn't complain. However, when I went to pick it up the final time, again, it was even worse. Still had scratches, swirl marks, and paint chips on it, and was also covered in dirt, and they didn't even wipe all the wax off. Ontop of all that, when I picked it up, they had also put over 100 additional miles joy riding on it AND left the gas tank almost empty without even notifying me or asking me, knowing that I was already upset with the mileage on it. Also, the first time I picked it up, there was a soda can laying in the back seat, as well as greasy finger prints all over the screen inside and the speedometer. What a disgusting, slobby driver they had. I also noticed that the stitching on both front seats has brown stains on them, which I took pictures of and sent in an email to the manager, Bert Sheppard, which he NEVER replied to. No one there seems to care about customer service or a quality job at all. Both my salesman, and the manager didn't appear to care about my satisfaction in the slightest. I will never, ever purchase a vehicle from them again. Still so many issues with my new vehicle that they did not care to try to fix. Worst car buying experience I've ever had. read more

(We searched Internet prior to visiting them) Gregory was very friendly and he was very professional. I had to say, it was one of best used car purchase experience. He gives us all information up front (car fax) and honestly answers all our concerns. He never gives us any pressure to purchase the car and when we gave him an offer, he accepted our offer. If you are looking for buying car, you should look their website for selection. If you find any car that interest you, then you should contact Gregory Ray. His service alone is well worth for visiting this dealer. Just one more advise, DO NOT trust dealers who cannot update their own inventories on web. I upgraded from my Focus Hatchback which, as much as I loved it, did have some problems . Our dealer, Brian Tanner was aware of the problems the Focus was having and suggested we look into the Fusion instead. It took one ride around the area and on and off the highway to see this was going to be my next car. Brian gave us a good trade in value for our Focus and we closed the deal in a few days once the car with all the options we wanted could be found. Was pre-approved by my bank, but ended up spending a looong time trying to get a better financing deal through the dealership. Ricardo continued to check in with us during our wait-going above and beyond what he needed to do. Ended up financing through our own bank after all, but never felt any high pressure tactics during the process. Overall very satisfied with the experience and the new vehicle. They have never tried to upsell, always tell me if a repair is necessary or good-to-have, been reasonable on cost, courteous and have also been very good about ensuring my warranty coverage. Overall, what you see is what you get. No frills, luxury or royal treatment but that's not a necessity either. Also, they have free pick up and drop off to even far off places. read more
